L. W.Excellent food and service. They have separate vegan/vegetarian menu and notate gluten free items. I had an amazing Thai red curry. Fresh veggies in a slightly spicy red curry sauce served with saffron rice. There is also a delicious gluten free brownie sundae. One of my favorite restaurants in Cork

Nevertheless, Don arranged to have the items shipped right back to me. I was so impressed. The overall stay was great also, very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Highly recommended!

Kirsten and her colleague were so helpful on Saturday, on Sunday we came down to breakfast and they had remembered our preferences so there was a spoon and watered down juice for my toddler waiting for her. It's those little touches that make a business stand out.

Have used this Restaurant for decades now. Living abroad its a treat when I visit. Thanks for it being my last supper in Cork this year with family.

A. J.Hadn't visited this nicely located restaurant for some time. Due to Covid-19 precautionary measures, the linen table cloths etc have unfortunately been removed. However the quality of food and service remains outstanding.
Starters of pate and scampi were well presented and tasty. Mains of fillets of plaice and the always wonderful cold fish platter were superb. The latter included a salad with smoked salmon, crab meat, crab claws, prawns and a salmon darne. All washed down with a bottle of Picpoul from the comprehensive wine list.
Visit recommended if anywhere in the vicinity.

M. C.This is definitely a 5 star restaurant and bar. There is a huge menu in the main restaurant and the bar menu is as good as any standalone restaurant. Wonderful ambiance. Service is exceptional and is efficient, friendly and attentive. Price is less than you'd expect. Overall a wonderful experience.

e. w. o. R.The bosun has long since been a favourite of the inhabitants of monkstown and the surrounding area and there is good reason why. Very helpful and friendly staff coupled with very good food make it an excellent choice for a night out. A relaxed atmosphere and a full bar don't hurt matters either but the food is the main attraction. Although not luxury dining the menu has some great seafood selections. We had the plaice and the fish and chips. The plaice was cooked perfectly and served with a choice of side dishes. The fish and chips also cooked perfectly with chips and mushy peas. Although my date wasn't enthusiastic about sharing initially the sheer quantity of the food presented changed her mind. Washed down with an excellent pint of stout I will happily return.....

First place you come a cross as you enter Monkstown and Passage West On the Cork Harbour. I highly recommend this place off the beaten track. Accessible by Bus or Ferry crossing from Cobh line from Cork city to Cobh railway. Or Cycling or walking the Greenway path from Cork city.
