Great options for vegans, including desserts. They also offer a special glutenfree menu, very inclusive. The portions are quite big, the price is fair enough. The super friendly staff and cozy atmosphere makes everything perfect.

What a great traditional old pub in the heart of Howth Harbour. A famous fishing village that you can get the train or bus to from the city centre with beautiful Scenic walks great place to relax have food and let the world pass you by

Stopped off here for evening dinner after walking the cliff path from Howth Harbour to the light House. The pub is close to harbour but slightly off the beaten track. We booked in advance (would recommend) and had an upstairs table. The food was excellent and plentiful. We had Scampi and a Seafood platter. After dinner we sat downstairs in the bar for a drink before catching the train back to Dublin.

Great pub with amazing Halloween decorations throughout. A lovely vegan menu with plenty of variety - the desserts were the highlight! Would definitely visit again

We were visiting in Dublin for a week and my daughter who is a Vegan, found The Abbey during a search while we planned to visit Howth. What a find! The staff were all very nice and pleasant. Their menus are top notch and provide a wide array of options for all kinds of tastes. I had the seafood chowder, which, by far, was the best chowder of any kind I have ever had. Loaded with a variety of seafood. I also enjoyed their petit filet which was fantastic. My daughter had a full dish of vegan delights and she was very happy. This place is on our list of fantastic restaurants in Ireland. BTW, Howth is a gem of a little fishing village that is a must see. Thanks to Nessa (sp?) for her wonderful service for our table and her gift of gab, very, very nice. Thanks to all at the Abbey for providing us a very memorable meal!!

Wow! Highly recommend if you want a proper sit-down meal. This place is as covid-safe as you get. Temperatures checked at the door, staff taking a lot of precautions. The food was very good, plus lots of vegan and gluten free options. Staff were lovely and attentive. Not cheap, but they've earned it. Will definitely visit again.
W. W.
A lovely place for a nice dinner and afterwards a pint. They take the COVID-rules really serious, I appreciate this. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
A. D.
The place looks lovely inside and outside. Staff were good. Can't complain. I highly recommend a visit there if you're in howth. Maybe just make a reservation if you want to start outside. They have seats inside for people with Covid certificate of vaccination.

Service was great. However the chips are terrible and the wings 🤔 felt like frozen food and the wings were like microwaved. For the price you pay, you would expect a bit better. Lunch for four, well over 100 euro.

We enjoyed a lovely meal on Friday night. My husband had the fish platter which consisted of an enormous quantity of quality fish - see photo. This is a cold dish, beautifully presented. I had the beer battered fish and chips- the batter was very light and the fish was tasty.
For dessert I had a chocolate Bailey's cheesecake which was amazing!Tables were well placed and we had to show our vaccination certs and photo ID on arrival. Staff were attentive and very friendly.

We celebrated a birthday in the Abbey Tavern the staff looked after us so well they even decorated the table & the food was lovely, great menu with gluten free options too. Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed myself. From the exterior, interior, ambiance, service and food - Abbey Tavern really preforms!
I had the cauliflower wings for an appetizer, curry for my main, the stick toffee pear pudding for desert finished off with an espresso. The portions were generous and presentation was nice. Really enjoyed the experience.
Will definitely be back and I highly recommend.
R. K.
Beautiful restaurant, the food was simply amazing. I loved their chowder soup. Highly reccomended

Great friendly Staff members, Presentations of delicious course meals to choose from, wonderful seating arrangements for customers both upstairs and downstairs, Great spot for a date night for couples or parties galore.

I went here on Saturday night and ordered a bacon double cheeseburger and chips with a pint of Heineken. I haven't been to this establishment in years and I was most impressed with the high quality produce on show. The burger really packed a punch and contained all the trimmings to make for a wonderful taste. The burger was nice as it was not too heavy and had plenty of flavour. The chips were nice but I thought that they could have been a bit hotter.
Overall a very positive experience and I would definately recommend a visit.
I. Y.
In general great place, good food and looks really cool. They have a variety of menus, suitable for vegans, kids and Gluten free, which was the reason we picked this place.
We came mid-day and unfortunately we couldn’t get a place indoor so we set outside and enjoyed the weather. The food (burgers and Salmon dish) was tasty and fresh BUT took more than 30 minutes to serve. That’s a looong time for a family with kids.
Y. S.
Great Howth experience! Home to absolutely amazing fish and chips with perfectly crispy crust and gorgeous juicy fish inside. Popular place for locals too and quite close to the railway station, but nice out if the way that the landlord cares about food quality and presentation. Amazing Guinness too!
C. S.
Amazing food and the staff are lovely. This place is a must if your visiting the area. Great little deli for take away food and products and the desserts are to die for. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back.
M. A. H.
Fantastic experience, 5-star food and unparalleled service. We enjoyed the best fish pie ever crafted. Richard conducted a whiskey tasting that was amazing and engaging.

Celebrated my birthday here.
Portions are huge.
Good vegan options.
Good atmosphere.
Good service.
Recommend to go here.
Absolutely satisfied
M. F.
Food was delicious and came for a reasonable price (servings are huge) and the decor is beautiful as well! However the personnel was mixed, some were very friendly, others really not that much.
Mind that we were waited by 5 different people, which also created a little chaos. For example, 3 of 4 of us had a starter - just as the first of us finished her plate they took it away instantly although us other 2 were still eating. Then they kept on coming every 30seconds to check whether we others had finished which was a bit stressful I have to admit. After that (and without anyone of us saying something about it), they would just left the empty plates with us for super long time until we would get up and get them to order the next dishes or the bill and ask them to take our plates...
A. O.
What a great night we just had there. Right from door staff to waiters/waitresses to chefs were all excellent. Covid procedures are second to none. Staff are all out to do everything to make your night an enjoyable one. Food was really good- thanks chef!! Waiting staff very attentive. Our daughter is heading off to college to Galway and we wanted to have a nice night out and The Abbey Tavern didn't let us down. Thanks to all there.
L. C.
Had a meal there on Sunday great food brilliant service friendly and helpful staff will be back

For 25 years I have been told about the Abbey Tavern. Eventually put that one to bed. Now I realise I have wasted 25 years! Excellent food. Very nice spot. Really well looked after. I am not waiting so long until the next time!! Thank you.
L. F.
This place was 50/50 for me. Cosy atmosphere and decor but terrible cheesy music. We ordered fisherman's platter and fish n chips. The anchovies, cured salmon, pickled herring and crab cake was delicious! But the cooked salmon and prawns literally tasted like water. The fish n chips was nice but the local chipper is better for a 3rd of the price.
Good covid measures, had to show covid vaccination pass, ID and temperature check.
Not cheap but not too pricey.
G. R.
We only went for drinks but it is a great spot! The staff was very friendly! I would definitely come back
E. N.
I hot the beef and Guinness pie. It was good.. salad was sad. Tough leaves out of a bag. Zero imagination. Friendly staff..
B. S.
Great food and atmosphere with extremely friendly and professional staff.
A. Z.
We had very nice Sunday lunch in Abbey tavern. Food was yummy and staff friendly and professional. Will be back for sure.

Everything a pub should be....even with all the covid restrictions a great place to unwind... great beer...fab food and friendly staff.
What else do you need !

Lovely local pub where you can enjoy a cozy atmosphere.
You’ll find all “spirts” that matters, local bear, food and nice services!
F. D.
Lovely place in Howth. Great food. Great beer. Great mood.
My greedy heart goes to the fisherman's platter wich is super delicious.
Totally recommended!
G. M.
Great service. Very thorough COVID screening. Lovely food. Guinness was excellent too
M. D.
The place was very busy but we were lucky and got a table. The food, drinks and service was great!
C. F.
Delighted to have had the pleasure of eating here. There are multiple vegan options for each course. I had the cauliflower wings to stay let and the bean burger for a main. I don’t think I’ve gone to any other restaurant anywhere near that have had such tasty options.
Daphni was our waitress and she singlehandedly turned this into a 5 star experience.
l. s.
Beautiful meal and lovely staff. Nice ambience about this restaurant. Great guinness and food
C. a. M. O.
Full gluten free menu. Great service. Tasty food. Will be back soon.

Fabulous food, fantastic service. An absolutely great way to celebrate your wedding anniversary 15 yrs later, in the same venue and your first night out together since lockdown started. Thanks guys made our night 💞
b. l.
The food was lovely and the staff are so friendly looking forward to going back soon
C. M.
Brought a large tour group for dinner and entertainment. Decent food and friendly staff. A little too much of a tourist trap for my liking. Older guests will enjoy the music. Dancers were quite good. Will be great for certain patrons, and not satisfying for others.
K. M.
Absolutely gorgeous meal. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.
J. S.
Excellent food with terrific service in a cosy and friendly atmosphere.
K. H.
Guinness really does taste better in Dublin!! This is a quaint little tavern just up the hill from the water. There are a few outside tables. We enjoyed our visit and had a lovely walk along the water after our pint. If you can, leave enough time to walk around the little area of town. It was a lovely experience. I didn't notice a lot of available parking, so if you're driving in, make sure you have a plan for your car.
E.
We came here especially for the burger.

A cozy a nice interior with great food and fantastic people. They have a 28 days aged steak that is to die for. The price is really reasonable, and there is a wide selection of drinks. They have a separate menu for vegetarians and vegans, and a life music performance in the evening. I would recommend to make a reservation.
d. r.
Excellent food and great service will be back again a very enjoyable day and very friendly staff
G. O.
Had breakfast. We sat outside, the food was a reheat which I find annoying. It was tasty none the less. Service was swift and friendly
D. B.
My favourite food and drinks place in howth! Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Food is excellent with superb choice. Love the vegan and vegetarian menu too (Pre covid) Can't wait till they reopen for inside dining. Guinness is also quality here 👍
A. A.
Stopped for a light lunch. Chowder and soup were both delicious and great ambience seating outside.
R. M. D.
Food, staff, atmosphere were all fab. Really lovely. Will definitely be back!
E. B.
Great food, lovely staff, good prices. Great location!

Awesome service! The food is to die for! I need a longer tongue to be able to lick the dish.

Lovely service for a quick stop during our visit to Howth . Valentines night but found a small table for two as were only snacking hopefully I’ll be back again soon
L. B.
Excellent food & drink. Great service.
A. Z.
Excellent food and drinks - any time again-had a Seefood Pie. It was perfect
T. O.
Fantastic pub, super nice food and good choice of beers on tap. After a lengthy cliff walk this is the right place to settle down and let your feet relax.
P. M.
Lovely place, great atmosphere. We had the sea food chowder. It was okay above average but I have had better. The soup was too thick and there was more veg than fish. Also didn't like that most tables were reserved. But the pub is lovely and the staff were friendly.
A. B.
Nice service, very delicious chicken wings!!!
S. S.
If you're vegan and plan on going to Howth, this place is the best for a tasty meal, a good pint of Guinness and a nice view.
Their cauliflower wings are amazing! And as my non-vegan boyfriend said: it's just like chicken wings but without the bones. Delicious!
I also got their vegan curry (which was also great) but it was a bit too much food for me. So be careful if you can't eat a lot.
They have a separate vegan menu so no need to ask if this or that has animal products.
The staff is helpful and welcoming.
I recommend this place 100% !!
T. C. H.
So friendly, non obtrusive service. Really nice atmosphere, you're made to feel very welcome and never rushed. Real fire, comfortable chairs. Excellent toilets with disabled access very clean throughout. Even though it's a cosy space you still have enough space to have a private conversion I would definitely recommend for a small meeting place where you can be treated with outstanding service. Thank you guys for taking such good care of me when I visited my son 😘🙏😁
C. Ö.
Good music and good place. Fish and Chips truly is tasty. And i want to thanks management for maps. They have a lot of maps and brochure inside.
R. N.
Go here every Saturday to nice pub grub, well run and friendly staff. Covid protection is and always has been 10 out of 10
J. M.
Went here for lunch and drinks the day before Dublin officially had to close pubs again. Was sad to hear as Abbey Tavern was one of the best oganised places I have been in terms of COVID guidelines.
A lovley lady at the door behind a screen came out and took our temperature before taking us to our table, all tables spread out, QR code menus and foot pedal on doors so you don't have to touch the handles, they had gone above and beyond.
The food was amazing. My friends that were with me were vegan and gluten intolerant, they were so impresed by the menu that we all decided to have starters and main.
I had chowder for starter and steak for main, both delious. Such great quality food and brillant staff, I hope they get all the business they deserve when the doors reopen again.
L. M.
They made sure that all safety measures were in place and even took my temperature at the door, which is something I appreciated. The food is very good, I personally would recommend their mindblowing apple crumble. Their mashed potatoes should be avoided though, as they were incredibly bland!
C. S.
Grat place for good times and great Irish food! Their lamb stew is scrumptious and filling. Wish I could get the recipe to make it here in the states!
R. M.
The BEST place to go in Dublin if you are a coeliac looking for fantastic seafood. Beautiful bar setting, brilliant staff and excellent covid19 precautions and cleaning. Scampi, fisherman's pie, burgers etc all gluten free, in fact they have an entire gluten free menu! Honestly I couldn't fault it.
M. K.
Perfect place with special atmosphere. Portions are huge.
S. O.
Small Family reunion , The Abbey provided a perfect venue, great food , fine service and a covid secure environment. Couldn’t ask for more.
L. P.
Only geniuses, like the people from Abbey Tavern, could have thought about putting bacon over a salad. Their food is great and their ambiance is even better!
N. O.
The best vegan pub food I've had in Dublin! Staff are friendly and efficient, and have excellently adapted the premises around Covid-19 regulations. We sat outside, a few outdoor heaters wouldn't have gone amiss but other than that, I cannot recommend The Abbey Tavern enough!
ธ. ท. (.
They have a fantasyic traditional irish food and seafood with a great service mind.
A. K.
We recently ate at the Abbey Tavern. One of our first times eating out since lockdown. All I can say is WOW. The staff and premises were the most prepared I've seen any venue. All customers were screened for temperature on the way in and asked to sanitise. Tables were very well spaced out. Foot handles on doors. A red and green light system for knowing if the bathrooms were in use. Digital menu or single use paper menu if you preferred. Staff all wore either masks or face shields. They could give training to other venues. We'll done. The food was yummy too and they catered for our daughter who has a dairy and egg allergy. Thanks. I've recommended you already. Keep it up!
T. N. C.
I promised I’d give them 15 stars but I can do 5 on this. I was very impressed with the Abbey Tavern, I arrived with my 80 year old mother and family for a meal as I we were meeting family in the area. When the staff heard it was my mams birthday, she got candles on her dessert and happy birthday played through the speakers. A fabulous touch and it made her day very special. HOWEVER the most impressive part was the vegan menu I was given when I sat down. I had to have 3 courses (haven’t had this in years) and it was gorgeous. I definitely wasn’t expecting there to be a vegan menu, so was probably a bit overexcited 😋 Thank you all for an amazing experience for both of us.
S. V.
A whole vegan menu!!!! A good few options which all sounded delicious. Got the curry which was lovely and the Guinness is goooood. Would definitely go back. Service was a bit slow and a lot of tables were reserved so definitely book in advance
D. B.
Had an amazing dinner with my partner. He‘s from around the area so I’m glad he showed me here. Really good food, and really nice staff.
K.
Was there last weekend and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Given the times we are currently living in, I also want to commend the amazing work by Richard and the team in following the covid guidelines and ensuring the dining experience was both a safe and very pleasant one! So thanks again and great to see you guys back open :)
S.
Doing an excellent job to continue providing delicious food during the pandemic restrictions. Dining outside with a view down to the sea. We were also offered blankets. Lovely place.
J. D.
I was very impressed on a recent visit to this pub. I had never been before but found everything excellent.
They have a whole gluten free menu cooked in a separate kitchen and it's the best gluten free menu and food I've seen in ages. I had fish and chips and it was superb. The waiting were very good and professional also and the selection of beer was great.
Top class, definitely going back to try more on the gluten free menu 😊
M. S.
Lovely food. Bit pricey though. Excellent staff all round. Very disappointed with the toilets. Not very clean at all. Could definitely do with a complete makeover and would like to see this happen. Other than that I would have given another star. But cleanliness in toilets is extremely important for customers to use. It makes enough money for to see this is done.
a. m.
So impressed with the work here to ensure proper procedures during this pandemic - definitely the most careful and comprehensive process I've seen anywhere. Breakfast was also nice, very reasonably priced, and with friendly, attentive service.
F. F.
Great food, beautiful place, fair price - around €15 a plate.
R. R.
Pretty good for an Irish pub! It was ranked highly and so that's why we went. It's on an adorable little street with different colored town houses, and feels very traditional. Food was reasonably priced and was a step above regular pub food.
A. D.
Visited here for a mother's day treat and what a treat it was. €45 for a 3 course meal and entertainment. Staff were just the best, helpful polite and very friendly. Who ever manages the staff on how they deal with customers is doing a great job or maybe it is just the happy staff themselves. I just couldnt fault start to finish of my visit here. I would definitely go again and again. Thanks staff at Abbey Tavern.
B. S.
Yummy food and great service in a quintessential Irish pub. Quite lovely!
C. J.
Food looked a bit pricey from what the plates looked like with other customers.
Nice atmosphere for a drink though.
Unfortunately the bar manager took my order of drinks at the bar and seemed to forget, to serve someone else within a few seconds of asking for my drinks.
Rude or stupid. Ill never know.
The other bar staff served me thankfully.
H. J.
This is a adorable tourist spot in Howth.
They offer both vegan and gluten free menus which is amazing thing in my opinion! Not many pubs do that.
Although the falafel burger I had wasn’t fresh and the flavour just wasn’t there. It tasted and looked like it came from the freezer. It wasn’t a cheap burger either so with the price I assumed to get something a bit more thoughtful or fresh.
This might just be my personal opinion.
The staff is excellent and made our group laugh a lot.
s. w.
We had a lovely meal here yesterday, what a lovely place, comfortable seats, roaring fire, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We had a superb traditional meal of corned beef hash !! Which was delicious and would defiantly recommend. Noel the waiter was a great chap, very obliging, a definite must if you visit Howth :)
J. R.
Today was the second time coming to abbey tavern. We booked last time for Mother’s day to try it out and the staff were very good and the food was great. We are 2 families with a few kids and they were so accommodating to us. Also my sister is a vegan and she loved the vegan menu, buffalo cauliflower wings were yummy. So we came back today for Father’s Day and we had the same experience. Think we might make this a regular get together. Thanks a million
M. M.
A nice safe place to enjoy good food and drink, great staff
D. S.
Had some very nice food here and they do a great job of Halloween-ing up the place too. 🕸🕷🎃
B.
Excellent highly recommend both food and service and adherence to covid regulations
A. L.
Good grub, friendly staff, nice location.
B. B.
I expected more from 30 euro steak meal to be honest. Steak was nice jucy and sauce was very nice but vegetables were just ok moreover fries were terrible.
Dry beef in Junior Gourmet Burger and the same fries like above.
Dessert (chocolate cake) was realy good.
Generaly place look nice
waiters are kind but meals which we had were much to expensive for taste they had in my opinion. Maybe other meals are better ;) wish all good
A. K.
Booked here as we were in howth for the day. Did not disappoint. Food was fab. Salmon, fish and chips and the corned beef. Wings went down a treat too. Fully recommend
M. G. -. K.
The Best sea food chowder I have ever eaten :)
P. Q.
Loved this place! We did the dinner and show which was lovely and the food was excellent. Howth is absolutely beautiful so if you find yourself looking for something to do spend a day here. There’s much to see and do here and about a 30 minute drive from Dublin. Would definitely recommend the Abbey Tavern and if I ever get back to Ireland I’ll certainly be stopping by!
C. H.
They do have vegan/special diets menu, which makes it a great place to go out to for mixed groups.
That said, the vegan stovetop flatbread was super tough to eat and just bland. Not very good flavors. The sorbet dessert was so tasty!!
D. &. J. W.
We had our wedding at the Abbey Tavern in Howth and it was absolutely perfect in every way. The food, the service and the venue was stunning. If you haven’t been there, the building is gorgeous and the pictures do not do it justice. The only decorations we needed where the table centre pieces. From planning months in advance right to closing, we were treated like royalty they whole time. All the staff where personable and accommodating with any special request we had. We and all of our guests came away from the evening amazed at how perfect everything was. Our wedding was flawless, and that wouldn't be true if it wasn't for the Abbey Tavern.
E. D.
We visited this tavern with a large group tour. The menu choices represented traditional Irish dishes including beef stew, salmon, and corned beef and cabbage. Service was a bit slow but the numbers of diners make this understandable. The food was delicious and generously portioned. The restaurant provided choices for those who required gluten-free dinners. However, the highlight of the night was the entertainment. Irish musicians and a terrific female singer performed traditional songs. The fiddler played a couple reels. Two male and two female Irish dancers delighted is with their incredible dancing. Altogether, it was a sensational evening.
N. W.
This place was legit. We wanted to find real Irish food and avoid a tourist trap. The service is simple, but the atmosphere is great, and all the food was good. The Beef and Guinness Pie is the savoriest stew flavor I've ever had, the fish pie was a hit for my dad, and the beef in the bacon burger was also great Irish beef (though a tad over cooked.) Most of the patrons were locals or at the least real Irish folk.
A. K.
We have had some great times here, staff so efficient and friendly, food excellent, atmosphere really good, for a show, or a quiet bite to eat, have never been disappointed, looking forward to enjoying again in the near future.
B. H.
A must visit for any tourist in Howth. A must visit even if you're local. Great spot for food.
The atmosphere is warm. It's a mix of locals, townies, tourists. It feels like a tavern of that makes sense. Nearly like you're in a different time.
The Guinness is good. The staff are attentive and the the chowder is a great shout. Perfect for a Sunday. I think they have live music on some nights and also great for watching any matches.
A. T.
Had the best salmon chowder of my life at The Abbey Tavern in Howth yesterday! We were greeted by the warm peat hearth fires and the proprietor, Richard, with a huge smile. Every staff member wished us Happy New Year (even though they must have been exhausted from the previous night's celebrations!). The chowder amazing - rich and flavorful, the fish was fresh, firm and plentiful, the potatoes perfectly cook and the generous use of fresh dill brought the dish to life! Definitely planning to return!
J. H.
Can I put 6 stars? 7 stars even? The Abbey Tavern went above and beyond our wildest imagination for our Wedding. Richard, the owner, is an absolute rock star. He was great with the kids that attended our wedding, making them chicken fingers and chips before the ceremony, to supplying them with a never ending supply of cookies and ice cream. The service was outstanding and anyone considering a wedding in the Dublin area is missing out if they don't try Abbey Tavern
M. P.
Comfortable, clean and really cosy. I have only evey been to the Abbey Tavern went its my Christmas party. There are 100 or so of us and each time its been a lovely experience. The staff were especially attentive and very friendly. I would definitely recommend you stop by.
H. S.
I strongly recommend the hot whisky here. It's a brilliant, cozy and friendly place.
C. M.
Fantastic Irish dancers and musicians! Wonderful food . . . salmon was melt-in-your mouth perfect! Staff was gracious and cheerful. Don't miss this this gem in a cute seaside town minutes from Dublin!
N. A. A.
Excellent service! The people working there are so no nice, regardless of the place being so busy they managed to get us a table. The food is great too!
J. N.
Excellent service, lovely breakfast and good coffee.
E. O.
Fantastic steak with fantastic pepper sauce and meaty chowder (a meal in itself). Lovely bar staff very personable. Joe and Ruth were a pleasure to deal with as per usual. Very professional, friendly and welcoming.
E. F.
Great atmosphere and even better service, thanks to Nessa. She was an extremely attentive and pleasant waitress. The food was exceptional. My husband will be dreaming of the beef and Guinness pie.
T. K.
Had lunch there recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Menu offered many choices, food was excellent when served, and service was very attentive and very pleasant. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Fun times. Great food and drink. The Irish review was very entertaining.
P. M.
Good seafood, the fish and chips was excellent with a nice light batter
J. B.
This review is over 6 months late, but I just thought to look up this beloved Irish pub today when I was looking at pictures. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they really deserve it. A couple friends and I were studying abroad last Fall and visited Howth after we rode bikes up from Dublin and stumbled upon Abbey Tavern. We were celebrating my 21st birthday and the people were so welcoming to us, and the best part was when they asked the Welsh mens choir that was visiting to sing me happy birthday. Everyone was so kind and I could not have asked for a better birthday celebration with really tasty food and cider.
T. B.
Delicious food in a nice atmosphere!
R. S. J.
Wonderful lunch we had today in the abbey I'm vegan so it was great to have a good choice it was delicious we will definitely go back soon
A. T.
Nice and cosy local pub very close to Howt harbor and pier with so many beautiful views.
They serve delicious food and since they're close to sea you have a good choice of sea food. Pints are good, they have good selection of vines and their alcoholic coffees are marvelous.
Z.
The best time we had for dinner in Dublin. All of the waiters were so warm and accommodating, and the bread pudding dessert was out of this world! Hope to be back soon! ♥️
J. P.
We wanted to get out of Dublin for a nice, quiet meal and The Abbey Tavern fit the bill. The Harbour Chowder alone is worth the trip. We fortunately didn't stop there. The corned beef and cabbage was excellent, as was the fish & chips which featured a huge serving of fish. The Guinness was fresh, which is always a bonus. The servers were friendly, and the Halloween decorations added to the fun. The next time we're in Dublin we'll be heading over to Howth for another meal at the Abbey Tavern.
A. M.
Lunch for two, scampi and cajun burger both delicious. Apple crumble very tasty but I found the chantilly cream on eton mess was very sweet. Friendly staff and excellent service make the Abbey Tavern an ideal spot to stop off at.
P. P.
Really great food. Amazing entertainment. The only reason why I didn't give it a five star is because it was very hot in there and when they opened the doors to give us some relief from the heat people smoked right outside the door and the cigarette smoke drifted in so much that it burned my eyes and throat.
K. C.
Lovely spot in the heart of Howth. Delicious food and great atmosphere, staff are wonderful. Very accommodating to changing the menu for children with allergies. They also provide a gluten free menu.
j. l.
We booked a reservation for 20 of us for a my dads birthday, from the minute we went in the staff were lovely and very attentive .We had children with us and most of them ordered off the children's menu which had a good selection .The chicken wings are really delicious , the lasagne was beautiful the Guinness pie was very tasty and all of the portions were hudge and very well presented .The Abbey Tavern has a very warm relaxed atmosphere and I would highly recommend the food .
K. C.
Simply amazing. Our server Nessa went above and beyond to make my husband's birthday one to remember. I highly recommend it both for the history and the atmosphere!
J. D.
Wow, what a cosy place for an intimate concert. Got a ticket at short notice to go to Hazel O'Connor last night. Went with no expectations and was completely surprised at how brilliant she was. The event is so cosy and the management so friendly. My first time in the Abbey Tavern, the first of many to come.

Absolutely great experience. I will remember their fish and chips for a very long time. Food is delicious, stuff very friendly what would you need more 😋🍺. I warmly recommend this place.
J. G.
Had the fisherman's platter and it was delicious. The service was also fantastic! They server brought us blankets :)
M. M.
Very Irish restaurant, not very touristic, super friendly staff and very good food! Fish & Chips was very good!
Nice place to stay, if you look for something not so touristic :)
D. S.
A nice pub. Plenty of seating and the bar staff were very friendly. They also do concerts in a venue out the back occasionally and they serve food.
T.
This venue was ok...there was a tribute act on so they had alot of chairs squashed into the tables which made it almost impossible to get in or out of your seat without disturbing others. Also the bar didn't has a big selection of drinks. They didn't have barcardi breezers or smirnoff or wine which was ridiculous. Good night due to tribute act but venue dissapointing and small
M. G.
We had a group that we took to the Abbey Tavern one night a week for 5 weeks, this restaurant is FANTASTIC, great ambiance, great food, right next door to a stunning view of the abbey and town of Howth and view of the surrounding town and sea. Richard the owner/manager is the most customer focused person Ive ever run into in 11 years of doing this. A DEFINITE MUST PLACE to go to
P. R.
Love this old Irish pub in Howth. Great, traditional Irish food - mostly seafood but plenty of other options like steak and lamb. They also put on great live music/shows.
J. D.
Got the steak and was pretty good, but shout out to the very accomadating staff. Had two young kids with me who are normally terrors but the young Daire was just brill with them, can't thank him enough.
L.
Fantastic food, nice and friendly staff. Beutiful place to eat and drink.
T. D.
I would give it five out of ten, fish was not great to be fair, wings were good, dessert was good also, but would not be rushing back
D. W.
I have always loved this place ever since i was a teeneger, it has changed very little if at all and sur why would you mess with perfect.
Decent pint, lovely food and friendly helpful staff.
What more can you ask.
As for the little parking? Its a bonus not to have a carpark to look at.
D. C.
Great service, staff are extremely attentive. Food presentation is incredible. A place to drop in to if you're in the area. Great food.
P. R.
Excellent ambience, a genuinely warm high quality pub with good and very good service. As Irish prices go, it's moderate, Guinness was the perfect pint.
S. &. A. R.
Have used their click and collect a number of times at weekends excellent menus great service very pleasant staff
E. C.
Authentic Irish pub with friendly and fast service. Great beer selection and excellent fish & chips.
Lovely location with a small village feel.
Highly recommended!
J. P.
The Abbey Tavern with some of its rooms, dating back to the 11th century, made our visit very interesting. The charm, the history, the staff, the other guests, the Irish whiskey all played a role in a pleasant experience. Wouldn't hesitate to return to this area of Howth. A nice idea to invite the many motorcoach tours, as an introduction to the neighbourhood.
M. C.
After a long hike we stopped here for a late lunch. It is a perfect restaurant, in town, food was terrific, great service by Blaithin. She was very kind to our weary family! Top marks for this restaurant!

Authentic Irish pub with friendly and fast service. Great beer selection and excellent fish & chips.
Lovely location with a small village feel.
Highly recommended!

Really great food. Amazing entertainment. The only reason why I didn't give it a five star is because it was very hot in there and when they opened the doors to give us some relief from the heat people smoked right outside the door and the cigarette smoke drifted in so much that it burned my eyes and throat.
A. L.
Food was good. Part of my tour. Great show after dinner
E. M.
Decent food. Service is slow. Very busy and popular with tourists.

This little hidden gem in how to be up in the top ten restaurants, we had a georgeus meal, the server took our order, my partner ordered the seafood chowder, I had the ceaser salad both were amazing, the main courses we had I had the house burger, delicious served with freshly homemade chips, Sarahy partner had the chicken, it looked delicious, never got to taste, we skipped dessert, to full to have one, we had two coffees, good coffee, don't know what it cost, Sarah paid the bill, while I was out, will be back again, 5 stars well done,
A. O.
