Reviews of Ann's Bakery

Went there for an early breakfast. Menu is limited as no halal options.
Beware of the "pudding " though it's pork !
Server didn't realise we're not ordering any meat so didn't warn us about wat their pudding was made of. We took a bite to realise it's not something sweet as u expect of puddings .
Good place hence it opens at 8-9 in mornings unlike the lazy culture at most Irish restaurants
N. M. C.
An excellent spot for a good lunch at a very reasonable price. The food is not fancy and they won't be getting a Michelin star in the near future, but the quality and quantity are both good. Definitely recommended
E. N.
Nice place, especially the seat in front of the windows on the first floor. The price are a little bit too high for a quality that is not exceptional.
d.
the only thing is you have to be quick getting all your things ready on the tray or food will be gone cold. I asked them to keep it in oven for me and they did so I could get my tea and cutlery. I wouldn't even chance it again when busy food be freezing. Grand for early morning if can keep food hot or order that last and pay first.
The pudding is covered in grease! so would not get them again. eggs and toast was nice wudnt get anything else being honest. They have nice wraps for lunch time. cakes are nice always reminds me of my childhood.
L. K.
Love Ann's bakery, always very busy and always a wide range of food to suit everyone. I tried the chicken curry, was delicious even if the chicken was a bit dry. My sister got the half portion of roast beef which was quite big! Cakes are always fresh and staff always friendly, cant fault this place!
A. H.
I looooveeed the Black Forest cake ! Was gorgeous!
P. G.
Started going there in 1982 and the food and service is still top notch. Not as many cream cakes, but a great place for food.
D. L.
Mediocre coffee. The cakes are good however. Plenty of seating room both downstairs and upstairs. You can also get Irish breakfast here.
W. A.
Came here for breakfast. Chose their hefty breakfast option for 4 breakfast options plus toast. Had beans, ham, egg, and sausage. The sausage was real good. The food may be in the greasier side, but for the price and portions, it was worth it. Good location and plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Good for that quick bite but don't go looking for the healthy option.
A. P. C.
excellent food and very good price! the space is very wide and nice! the mushrooms with tomatoes is wonderful and has other choices! besides the cafe being included in the price of the breakfast!
T. T.
Came for breakfast. The staff were friendly even though it was busy. The food was served in Bain Marie style. The coffee had a soy option. Mainly gave it a try as there were lots of people in there. If I came again, would probably try the pastries - the croissants looked good.
B. H.
Top spot for breakfast the staff couldn't be more gracious to help and the food was first class. This preparation on demand is a difficult ask but the team smashed it this morning. 👌
C. M.
Tasty half portion. Def will be back. Lovely break with lovely food. 😍😊🍲
T. B.
Good breakfast, nice coffees. Buns to die for
T. M.
Can't thank Alan enough for yesterday, my 83 year old neighbour came out of hospital after a big operation so could only eat something light. Unfortunately they were out of big fruit pavlovas. So they kindly made me up ten small ones, there and then, which i only waited on for ten minutes. They were fabulous too, and my neighbour was happy 😊 . Great staff and very accommodating. Can't thank them enough. Thanks again to Alan and the lady who made them. You made a very sick lady very happy. 😁❤️
A.
UNREAL, kind staff and nice cakes!! had to leave cake outside of fridge for 12 hours and even then when i ate the sponge, its so soft and not too sweet and melted in my mouth strongly recommend black forest cake !! Would defo visit again
M. G.
Staff members are friendly and nice. My only problem was they didn't have any cheese cake (or cake with cheese curd).
A. M.
Amazing food and staff. I only wish they had an extended opening hours! Until 8pm at least would be perfect!
S. F. L.
Staff were absolutely amazing with covid restrictions and very well organised, plus food was delicious 😋 definitely popping in for breakfast again.
J. M.
Great place for a coffee and cake. Great staff.
M. S.
Great service. And good hot food.
P. G. G. Y.
A calmy and beautiful place where you can enjoy a coffee and some meals. Prices are good and products have good quality and good taste. Coffee & carrot cake 5,75€
C. D.
Every good value for money with lovely food.
N. P.
Amazing cake and pastry.
F. S.
It was okay. Just miss the old style, now it is just in and out kinda place. Still nice but yeah it was a bit disappointing. On the positive side the staff is still really friendly and there are 2 or 3 Ann's Bakery in city centre so plenty of choice. Still a great place for breakfast and lunch though.
J. G.
Great pastries and coffee! Staff was super friendly.
M. U.
Mediocre food hall. We went for breakfast and had to wait for fresh sausages I'm glad we did as they were the only things that were hot.
The rest of the food was like warm at best.
The upstairs dining area was tidy and the staff were quickly clearing tables. But after sitting for a few minutes you start to notice that it's not as clean as it could be. The glass safety rails looked like they had been cleaned with dirty mop water. The toilets were clean enough.
All in all warm cafeteria style food in clean(ISH) environment. You get what you pay for!
M. N.
Was here for the first time on Monday. Very busy indeed. The cakes and breads are fabulous. No trays for coffee's etc but they have them for the hot food. A couple seating with us got the hot food and it looked very nice. They said it was very tasty. We just wanted a coffee and cake. The cakes were so fresh and the tea and coffee were nice. The staff are polite and run off their feet. Great buzz about this place. Will definitely be back.
R. L.
The red velvet pastry here tastes delicious! However, they are not available everyday and best thing to do is call them to find out before you disappoint yourself. Apart from the pastry, their breakfast menu is great and is a fab place for brunch on a weekend! The staff are friendly and the place is kept clean.
L. C.
Lovely bakery and coffee stop in the centre of Dublin. Just off the main street so a little bit quieter. Excellent range of baked goods. Coffee and hot chocolate between €2.50 and €3.00. Attracts locals and tourists alike. Open seating at the front and a couple of booths at the back. Cold tap water on help-yourself basis. Highly recommended as a place to stop.
D. M.
Great location, great food and staff is very hospitable 👍
R. J.
Nice coffee great atmosphere lovely shop however I feel the woman serving me could have been a bit more enthusiastic , customer service and all that. Not ‘what do you want’. Not a deal breaker, id still return, fantastic value at 8.95 for a jumbo breakfast which is village prices in the heart of Dublin city :) great fresh cakes / donuts
A. K.
I was here on a busy Saturday afternoon, great selection of fresh food, from soup and salads to hot meals and sandwiches. Very friendly staff, I asked for help when I didn't feel confident about carrying my food tray up the stairs and this was done without any issue. I was eating my lunch when I realised I had forgotten to bring up milk for my tea, again I asked a member of staff for help and a jug of milk was produced in moments. 10 out of 10 for excellent customer service and beautifully presented food, I have no problem recommending this restaurant.
A. D.
Quality of food is Ok although good value....still a popular cafe with shoppers....most of the staff r nice & friendly although there are 1 or 2 need to brush up on their customer service skills
R. B.
Great food made with love. Ideally situated beside the sopping mall's. Great variety of traditional foods from Irish breakfast, tea and coffee to lasagna, roast potato to cooked ham, jelly ice cream to donuts... you'll definitely find something you'll like. The only downside would be because of it's popularity the place is often crowded.
G. C.
Great food at decent prices, fantastic breakfast, dinner and lunch options. Sandwiches or rolls available. They offer either the typical baguette or old style Irish rolls. Great stuff
A. W.
A great place in the centre of Dublin. Fill up on one of the tastiest cooked breakfasts known to man before a busy days shopping.
P. K.
Nice city centre location for breakfast and great selection of dishes for lunch. Large selection of sandwiches and pastries for snacks. Buffet style service and speedy cleaning of tables. Friendly, efficient and attentive staff.
T. “. C. K.
It was busy at the main dining area, and I only wanted a sandwich.
I went to the front area where they only did the sandwiches for takeaway.
They were understanding at this counter and got me a plate to join my missus who also just wanted a small desert.
Got served quickly and would recommend.
A. P.
Got a small birthday cake (chocolate ganache) which was delicious and will priced. Did not try the restaurant part yet, but might do so next time.
I can recommend the cakes anyways. Very tasty.
W. W.
Don't let the name fool you. This place is an actually bakery and does offer some amazing baked goods however it is also a sizeable restaurant which has some traditional staples on offer and a carvery via a counter service system that is very prompt with courteous staff so it makes for a great lunch spot. They also have ample seating on two floors so even when it's busy you can usually always find a seat.
l. B.
Absolutely in love wit this place. My mum used to take us on trips into dublin city just to get lunch and one of their fabulious cakes. To this day the quality and service has not changed. They really are amazing.
T. M. O.
The carvery is ace. Coming from the UK I was skeptical to pay £14 for a carvery where the meat would be like deli ham. I was wrong. Really generous portions. Meat was at least 0.5 cm thick. Felt like I was getting value.
L. M.
Nice place- could probably do with a new layout- front area causing a bottle neck so needs review- seating upstairs was excellent loads of areas- bathrooms need a refurbishment- could overall do with a custom flow journey plan and map it from there-
j. b.
Staff are very nice it is one place you could never say you come out hungry more than adequate portion that's why we always return here because it's value for money and I must say the Friday just gone the beef was absolutely superb tender and mouth-watering
definitely return for the carvery again
L. J.
Was always lovely well cooked food at brilliant prices. Cream cakes and bread so fresh it would bring u in from the st. However now prices have gone up and standards in cleaning and customer service/staff training went downhill. Its almost always packed whenever i walk by so maybe its just me.
G. T.
Brilliant meal. Huge portions & very good value for money. Always busy but plenty of seating. The bread & cakes are also fantastic
A. V.
One of my favourite places in Dublin. Perfect brunch/lunch and it's not expensive. Huge plates of lasagna, meatballs or chicken and potatoes/veg. Incredible! Totally recommended
B. S.
Love Ann's Bakery on Mary Street. Great place to get decent food without being ripped off. Very suitable for families and kids. Hope they don't go too upmarket and lose what makes them stand out from the crowd.
M. H.
Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Quick service and amazing breakfast. 100% recommend and value for money! Very happy first time visitors and will definitely be back again :)
N. H.
Had been told to go and try food here. After reading reviews I was dubious about goin.going.
Went today for breakfast and was very pleased food service all good so don't go on what you read you don't know till you try for yourself
K.
I went to Ann's Bakery ,nice atmosphere , many varieties of cake's ,Best place to buy a delicious cakeand snacks in Ann's Bakery 🥯🧁
o. c.
Great food but very expressive. 8e for a child's dinner two icecream scup's of mash and a bit of cottage pie. Like I say can't fault the food.
S. F.
We were in Anns Bakery on Tuesday 16th April around lunch time, I can't praise the staff highly enough, My mother is wheelchair bound and the staff went above and beyond to assist us. Food was excellant and service too, Would give more stars if I could, Thank you
C. B.
Cold on winter mornings depending where you sit. Tables not cleared quick enough on some visits. Value for money. Food good. Staff very nice.
L. M.
Great place to eat. Along with great food is decent price. And can grab a cake on your way out in the bakery. It's always busy but extra seats upstairs.
J. E.
A Dublin establishment been here longer than I can remember back to. Best place for cakes, breakfast or a Sunday roast dinner.
S. p.
Staff Cleaned the place quickly. nice coffee. Cakes looked fresh . Maybe extra staff on till needed during the Friday lunch time rush
G. H.
Amazing cozy cafe, with great value all day breakfast menu, I had great coffee and yummy blueberry scone. Very friendly staff.
J. M. G.
Great spot to eat. Everything else around is fast food Anne's is well known among Dubilners.
J. M.
Great wee bakery, wide selection of buns, sandwiches and I do enjoy their breakfasts.
For Dublin, it’s very reasonable too and it’s clean too.
J. s.
Would definitely recommend. Great food and very reasonably priced. Just wish they had room for more seating as it's always packed!
A. K.
Lovely food and friendly staff
A. S.
Excellent bakery and cake shop.
The eat-in restaurant part, though, would only be 3-stars; average quality, reasonably priced fried Irish breakfast fare.
S. D.
Very good am a regular and staff are faultless. Great grub great prices. Mine and me pals go to place. Love your pastries. 😊
P. F.
Quality, actually affordable, *fresh cream* cakes and bakes - no fakes! Something which is difficult to find for birthdays and occasions these days as most other indigenous Irish businesses, and big corporate grocers, have little else but butter cream and stodgy preserve and often at much higher rip off prices than Ann's Bakery.
m. F.
Amazing food at great prices. For breakfast lunch and dessert
Staff friendly! Busy but plenty of seating upstairs.
D. P.
Love this place going in there years . Real home made food at it best . Can't beat it
S. B.
Great coffee and lovely cakes. Bit pricey, but worth it.
Clean seating areas and friendly staff.
L. H.
Good food, good prices. Staff needs to be a bit more patient with undecided customers 😉
P. K.
Great spot for breakfast in the city. Lively atmosphere, fresh food and excellent value, would highly recommend
E. m.
Lovely place with great dinners
g. c.
A bit pricey for what it is..a carvery/ self service with all the predictable limited choices..a chicken at 12.90 with cabbage and mash was actually tasty and hot..but it could have been either better presented with more vegetables choices (boiled carrots is not something to offer anymore or less it's an hospital)or keep it simple as it was but charge less..there is actually no service
J. K.
Ann's is great for a quick sandwich, a tea or coffee and a nice cake from the bakery or even a carvery dinner, staff are excellent.. It can get a bit busy around lunch time but its worth the wait.
R. O.
First time there went with my grandchildren and great grandchildren is a very welcome place to eat and staff were polite and very helpful
M. C.
Gorgeous cakes and the dinner offers are fantastic. Love this cafe and would definitely recommend it! ☺
S. C.
Great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner or a just a cuppa and cake. The girls are always lovely and friendly. Nice atmosphere
M.
Excellent spot for lunch, large selection of hot meals and a great deli counter plus too many deserts to resist. They really should expand south side of the river.
J.
Breakfast is as good as I remember toast could be hotter, coffee isnt great but could of been how it was brewed today.
P.
The Salad Bowl with salmon was so delicious. I wish we had Ann‘s Bakery in my hometown.
