The chef’s table is the experience of a lifetime; you get to interact with the chefs and observe the action like a kid in a candy store. If you love cooking and fine dining, go for the chef’s table - you’ll experience the bustle and heat of the kitchen with extra attention put on your experience.
The food is divine as expected, and the service extremely happy, energetic and friendly.

So... where to begin.
I visited Chapter One in August with a friend. I was prepared to blow my budget, I just knew it was gonna be pricey.
But, all I can say is that, if you love food, and appreciate the art that food can be, it was,and is, worth every penny.
We went for the tasting menu and wine pairing because why the hell not. Its not an experience you can do every day.
To say our minds were blown and tastebuds truly satisfied would be an understatement.
Wines were paired perfectly, the staff were attentive and funny, not overly stuffy which you may expect from such a fine place. And the food! Well the lobster dish was top class, it came with this insane lobster bisque and risotto...insane. we also got 3 desserts and the lavender ice cream with crystallised fennel was so unique and surprisingly delish.
I could go on but I won't. If you have a good budget, go here for a celebration or go here if you appreciate amazing fine food and excellent service. Give them another star 🌟

Had the most perfect meal! From the mouth watering snacks like the beef tartare and the cheese puff and then the main scallop and lobster, every course was a dream! The service team were so friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable about each dish, I was so impressed! Honestly will be daydreaming about that truffle sauce with the Anjou pigeon!
Fully recommend!

Had the pleasure of visiting for the second time last Saturday. After looking forward to our booking for a number of weeks our high expectations were exceeded.
The tasting menu was absolutely faultless from the canapés to the petit fours. If I could have the foie gras starter for every single meal from now on without inevitably developing gout in my mid-30’s I would.
The service was also spectacular. We were mainly served by the wonderful Olmo who even remembered us from our previous visit last year (hopefully for a good reason).
Already planning our return visit.

Amazing restaurant! I've been several times, but this time was the best ever! They've raised the level and they deserve a second michelin star now!! 😁🌟🌟

!It wasn't my first time in Michelin restaurant, but it was definitely the finest.
beautiful place, professional and personal service
The food was tasty and brilliant!
recommend for all.
E. C.
Great experience from start to finish. The service, as well as the food, was faultless.

Have eaten here twice in recent weeks, and a number of times previously and I can honestly say it’s just getting better and better. The food has a refined quality and the raw ingredients are clearly excellent. I love the dining room and the private/semi-private dining options are fabulous as well. Staff are excellent. Perfect service without being overly stuffy, they are friendly and personable.
P. S.
Lunch, their first since re-opening after lockdown, was simply sublime under the hands of Mickael Viljanen and the assured team at Chapter One. Particular high points were the steamed Gouda soufflé and the cheese plate. Photos are of our petit fours.

So glad to have made a point to dine here during my weekend getaway to Dublin. (Pre-Covid) The staff was super friendly, ambiance was classy and cozy, food was delicious. If we are ever able to travel abroad again I’d definitely love to come back to this spot!
P. R.
Wow. Incredible food. We had a 3 course lunch and it worked out at a very reasonable €55 each including a tip (no wine). Lovely restaurant, great staff, very interesting and delicious flavours. I had the braised beef cheek for my main. It was incredibly tender and the red wine jus was incredible. I would normally expect to pay a lot more for such a gourmet experience. Staff were fantastic and the chef came out and chatted with us about our food. I would highly recommend this Michelin star restaurant. Thanks!

I’m not used to such fancy places but had a great experience at Chapter One.
All the staff treated us really well and the food is amazing, really tasty and beautiful. Also got invited to visit the kitchen, which was a great extra treat.
I’d go again on their pre-theater menu as it fits my pocket better but highly recommended if you’re ready to pay for it.
O. S.
Liked it here. The dining room strikes a nice balance between traditional and modern. It feels luxurious but not stuffy. Staff are warm and sociable in a way you don’t usually get in high-end restaurants. We went for the pre-theatre menu — it was good, but not outstanding. Starter of ravioli were delicious: incredibly fine pasta and rich, mellow cheese. The main course of venison was well cooked but lacking a bit of excitement. Dessert of milk and honey textures was slightly bland, for all the skill and processes involved.

Best food and dining experience ever, just wonderful
R. C.
Fantastic food, so creative it's almost a shame to eat it, staff were lovely. Quite pricey but the ingredients and presentation are top notch, so you get what you pay for.

Food and wine was just fabulous and atmosphere was so relaxing and refreshing. We had reserved our special birthday and anniversary booth which made the evening more private and romantic. We went for tasting menu with matching wines. It was the best choice we could have made because wine matched food just perfectly, taste was so complementary and made food pop even more. I recommend everyone to try out the tasting menu as the food was just unreal. All my tasting buds were excited. Just amazing.
L. O.
Absolutely stellar service, attentive but in no way pushy. I am a pescatarian and was blown away with the fish dishes. Staff were beyond helpful, Cannot recommend this place enough.

This is somewhat a belated review as we were there on March of 2016. Overall, the experience was positive. The atmosphere was cozy and it was the first time I'd experienced very talkative serving staff and clientele. Obviously Chapter One has a number of regulars who all like to converse and did not strike me and my wife as a Michelin starred restaurant.
This feeling was however short lived as we too got into the fun and conversed with the locals who gave us great tips on places to see and restaurants to try.
Now, onto the food. We went with the 5-course tasting menu. Presentation was fine however, the mushroom risotto was a bit on the salty side. The wine pairing were quite complementary to the dish.
Service was good and overall experience was positive.
J. F.
Food was amazing, service was amazing, and the ambiance and decor were fantastic too. I will definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone. We went for lunch, three courses for €39 which was great value. The atmosphere was fairly laid back (I was wearing jeans and a shirt). If you go, order an Irish coffee, they make it in front of you at the table.
B. W.
Historic location, below a museum; impeccable services as per expectation; menu is creative, a combination of exotic ingredients with a unique twist on preparation and combination. While there is no “must-have” to recommend, every course is a journey of its own.

I was in Dublin for 5 days attending a training session. I took the opportunity to nip out one evening to Chapter One as I'd heard a lot about it. So glad I did!
Food was superb with innovation and technique combing to great effect. Beautifully presented, interesting and above all damned tasty dishes just kept coming! Also the matching wines were brilliant with 3 that I couldn't initially envisage working with the dish but to my surprise were brilliant matches. In particular a Pedro Ximinez matched with the amazing milk and honey dessert was amazing.
Service too was warm and genuine throughout. All in all a memorable experience in all the right ways!
J. H.
The absolute best dining experience we've ever had, anywhere. Every single item was perfection. We just didn't want it to end. We almost forgot there was a pandemic going on and just escaped for the moment with the pleasant vibe. Would highly recommend for a special occasion!
a. r.
The food was amazing and the service is flawless
F. S.
Wonderful food, stupendous service and fully observant of covid19 precautions.
E. M.
Fantastic meal! Service was extremely good with everything you would expect from a restaurant with such a good reputation. Food was beautifully and perfectly prepared. The beef in particular was perfectly cooked and the dessert was simple amazing. Highly recommend this place.
G. v.
Superb! Absolutely flawless, food is really tasty and great presented. Service was a top notch, a lots of passion delivered from the start to finish. Very recommended, and definitely will back!
e. c.
Almost perfect.
Modern restaurant, service was more than excellent.
The raviole of Crème de parmesan was amazing.
With regards to the main I didn't appreciate the association with the pudding.
Crème au chocolat Guinness, very good.
I. C.
Amazing food! The chocolate soufflé was to die for! Great experience overall and excellent service!
B. G.
Fine dining experience. Food was fantastic and wonderful staff. Made feel very welcomed. Had a great night there
M. J.
My wife and I went here. One of the best restaurants I've eaten at. Staff is very professional and helpful. Highly recommended
E. M.
Amazing! Hard to put into words. If you get the opportunity to dine here grab it with both hands! Lunch was fabulous!
M. K. S.
It should bag 🌟🌟🌟 in the Michelin Guide 2022
M. M.
Really exceptional food, presented exquisitely. Service is wonderful, explanations are given of each, glorious dish. A delightful experience. Chapter One lives up to, and exceeds, its terrific reputation. Well done, Ross & great team
P. H.
Incredible food and experience at the chef's table in Chapter One. Is there anywhere better in Ireland? I sincerely doubt it.
M. L.
My family and I enjoyed an absolutely amazingly scrumptious meal last night It was outstanding and unique Thanks to Michelin starred chef Mickael Viljanen's enormous talent...wonderful warm welcome from exceptional service from extremely attentive friendly staff/team
Thanks to one and all for a most memorable experience
P. W.
Amazing service and great staff, the food was absolutely fantastic, served and presented perfectly , some dishes I would not normally order and tried were they combined flavours so well I couldn't but enjoy them, very highly reccomend a night here, variety amazing, service was beyond anything I've had in a restaurant with so much attention paid to the table by all the staff and even by the chefs who personally introduced the dishes served.
R. C.
Superb standard of service and excellent and imaginative menu & wine pairings.
Well trained and informative staff with thorough Covid protocol.
V. B.
Had a fantastic experience and a great meal. The staff were really attentive.
M. P.
The most wonderful food and superb North Side service....ie genuine warmth and craic!
Still an absolute gem. For me the best restaurant in Dublin.
C. L.
Flavor wasn't bad... But over priced. Wasn't quite the ambiance I expected. Would you I go back ....yes but would I ever invite my boss.... No
M. l.
Very attentive staff, absolutely great service, outstanding deserts, great wines, great finger food compliments, but fish is not good at all and seating on very salty sauce and pastry serving with is too greasy...
K. F.
Simply amazing! Really loved this experience, highly recommended. Tasting menu full of flavours!
T. T.
We had the 9 course tasting menu and it was fantastic. Every single part of the meal was so enjoyable.
d. B.

The service is great, the ambient is nice and the food is good, but not wow. In my opinion it doesn't worth the money

Absolutely beautiful food and wine and top class service
J. M.
Superb experience. Just keep room for dessert. Totally recommended!
M. A. O.
Exceptional service, food and setting. From the second you walk down the steps and in the door you enter another world. We felt very welcome and safe. The layout of the restaurant, attention to detail, superb service and delicious food all confirm why this is a Michelin star restaurant. Considering the restrictions due to Covid, the team in the restaurant all worked together and had everything set up so we were able to have a fantastic dining experience where we could temporarily forget the outside world.
P. C.
I had the pleasure of dining at Chapter 1 last night and it certainly did not disappoint. The attention to detail from all of the staff was second to none. The food was amazing. The wine superb and a must have to top it all off irish coffee made in front of you extremely flavour some. We were even brought into see the kitchen after our meal. First class all round and I would highly recommend Chapter 1. Keep up the great work.
I. L. S.
Staff was wonderful and very polite. Food was good. We found out they have a 2020 Michelin start which was a nice surprise. I loved their mashed potato, it was amazing! I would highly recommend it
R. M.
Great place for fancy food even if you're not into michelin restaurants.
M. O.
One of Thee best restaurants in the city.
Fabulous food and very discreet and professional staff. ☆☆☆☆☆

I was not impressed with food for a Micheline star restaurant. We have chosen tasting menu, it was tasty which is expected for restaurant like this, but there was nothing that caused the wow effect for me. We have taken the wine pairing and wines were perfectly paired with the dishes. Interior design of the restaurant was beautiful, but I was really surprised with the bathroom looking so bad.
P. V.
My wife and I spent a very enjoyable valentine's night here. As expected the food was of the highest quality with a blend of exciting flavours and textures. The best of all for us the warmth of the welcome and how the staff attended to our every need
H. S.
Our first time to eat in Chapter One, and we will definitely go back! We had the premium pre theatre menu, all four courses were exquisite, beautifully presented and served by very efficient servers. The serving of the different courses was nicely timed, not rushed. We would highly recommend the restaurant.
M. C.
We did the tasting menu - most of the courses were really good but the portions were tiny. Dessert was not nice at all, I left most of it on the plate. We found the whole experience less inspiring and way more expensive, comparing to the other Michelin star restaurants we have visited outside of Ireland. And an awkward thing - the toilet seat in the ladies' room was partly broken. That is not what you would expect visiting any high end establishment.
L. G.
Chapter one has provided one of the best dining experiences that I have had in a long time. The staff are so professional and courteous. The food was out of this world, if the duck is on the menu please try it and the Irish whiskey is worth it for the experience of the team making it alone. It is worth every cent
R. R.
Absolutely delicious. Very friendly service, food to die for with perfect sized portions

Dined here last night with my beau for my birthday treat (spoiled I know 🥰). We had the eight course tasting menu with paired wines for each course. Our fav courses were the smoked salmon and also the steak course which cooked a medium pink (my preference). The staff were so polished and explained each course and wine to both of us in intricate detail. The staff were also very friendly and fun. Would highly recommend this gem for a special treat ❤️
E. D.
Took my Mam here for a mother/daughter date recently and we had a super night. The staff were so attentive, we did the tasting paired with wines and would highly recommend it, lovely way to spend an evening. Chapter One is a treat but worth every penny.
J. M.
I had been wanting to come here for so long and finally went for it.. And gladly so. Every course went beyond expectation, being flavoursome yet delicately balanced. The service was attentive but never overbearing. All our drink pairings were perfect ( we chose our own wine for dinner, but went with the menu suggestions for dessert wine and for port)
D. M.
The food and service at this restaurant is amazing. We went for an evening meal on Saturday 15th Feb 2020. It was the best meal ive had since i i dropped in to the planet 39 years ago.
The menu had a variety of dishes to cater for all tastes. The menu was laid out well and a somelier on was in hand for any questions on the wine list. The somelier made great suggestions on pairing wines to dishes.
You will bot leave the restaurant feeling hungry. After 4 courses over three and half hours we were stuffed!
I would highly recomend chapter 1 for a fine dining experience you will never forget. For an extra special experience order the Irish Coffee for after your desert. The service was faultless and the staff were not just professional but friendly as well.
Well done Chapter 1 !
A.
We had lunch here mid week. Obviously expectations were very high and they were certainly met.
A warm welcome, nice & chatty staff along with top notch food. It was very good value for lunch considering it’s Michelin Star.
Would I go back? Most certainly yes, maybe dinner next time! 👍👍👍👍
I. C.
Best meal I have had in last 5 years. It's not unusual to have a great appetizer, a great main course or a great dessert. But how often do you have all 3? Nice atmosphere and attentive service. Highly recommended.
m. p.
I was slightly disappointed , expecting the wow factor. We went for the pre theatre menu , apart from the tiny flies that hovered over our table . Staff we polished and polite but the clock ticks 7:30 pm your out of there
We asked politely for a second bottle of wine but no they believed it would delay the table turnaround. Then our coats we had to search for. It's a rated eatery. the food yes it's top class it had to be for what you pay for.
It lacked the atmosphere of : we are the people who booked a table well in advance
We expect pampering and interaction with the staff to promote the food the taste the chef. There was no !!! . We look forward to seeing you again.
I can't say I will rush back .
It was to mechanical no personal touch .
Churn churn. We are people and human and expect to be treated better.
C. C.
The whole experience from the time we entered the restaurant was amazing. We were made to feel so special. The food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. I will definitely be going back here and I will be buying vouchers for family and friends
L. T.
It was my second visit to Chapter one recently and I wondered whether it would surpass my expectations after an amazing experience a couple of years ago. Once again the food was amazing. The only negative thing was the wine chosen to go with the main course could have been better! The service was superb and I look forward to my next visit.
B. G.
Absolutely amazing service atmosphere and gorgeous dinner
H. H.
If you want an eating experience, try the Chef's Table. It is expensive but not only do you get a chance to try the sampler menu and related wines, you also get to see the inner workings of the kitchen and how professional the chefs are. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, each course is deliciously described and explained. A great night made even better by Mirco, Jennifer and Danny. Certainly worth booking but there is quite a waiting list.
T. F. M.
The starters were excellent, the Main course and the deserts were very good. However, the vere good experience was somewhat destroyed by the fact that both our initial glasses of wine and our irish coffees were priced higher on the bill than in the wine lists. How is that possible??
M. H.
My partner and I had been looking forward to visiting Chapter One after her son recommended we go.
From the moment you walk in you feel very welcome and there are plenty of staff to look after you. You are not rushed and feel you are the only guests in the restaurant.
We chose from the standard menu and all four courses were excellent. My partner enjoyed the correctly cooked and succulent fish and my lamb was tender and full of flavour.
We also had the coffee and petit fours which were excellent too.
Visiting Chapter One is for a special occasion as it is pricey; however, you will not be disappointed.
D. H.
My wife and I dined here on Saturday 28th July. Our overall experience was excellent. The style and decor is very relaxing and the staff are so welcoming, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Our server, Virginia, was brilliant.
I chose the Japanese tapioca, quail, pork & raspberry. My wife chose the tomato, salmon, duck & chocolate.
Each and every dish was perfectly designed - the flavours and quality of the ingredients were excellent.
It's not the best 1 Star Michelin restaurant I've eaten in - but it's the best 1 Star in Ireland.
Would highly recommend this restaurant.
L. M. D.
We enjoyed a delicious Anniversary meal in this beautiful restaurant. The welcome, service, ambience and food were all exquisite. The very best food experience we have had in a long time. Thank you🤗
K. P.
What an amazing introduction to Dublin! The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, welcoming and so professional. The food exceeded expectations and the whole experience was fabulous. So wish we could do this more often. The tour of the kitchen was an unexpected treat - we loved it - Thank you so much.
S. M.
Over from Cornwall for my 30th birthday, absolute food lovers. The service was undoubtedly faultless, polite, kind and curtious. The food along with the wine was second to none! The best 4 courses we have had the pleasure of eating. A small tour of the kitchen was the cherry on top. We even tried to book for the following evening.
Thank you very much.
K. G.
Delicious, great service, amazing whiskey and wine! We're lucky they could squeeze us in two nights in a row. Irish coffee was amazing and so fun to see it made in front of us.
M. N.
Stunning food and service. Had the tasting menu and it did not dissapoint
B. W.
Had lunch here on a whim and very glad I did. Service is top quality, but still very warm and friendly. Food was really very good for the most part. Mackerel was utterly sublime, some of the later dishes failed to reach that standard for me, but were still very pleasant. Really enjoyable dining experience.
p. B.
Wonderful ambience / great service and staff/ fabulous food.Thankyou.
C. C.
Gorgeous food, a symphony on a plate . Staff were incredibly kind, attentive and friendly . Great value for the sort of service and food that is provided . 10/10 would come again
B.
Starter:
Super delicious marinated scallops (attached photo) with mussels, horse radish. Well done!
Main course:
Again very soft and nicely grilled John Dory fish alongside delicious mushroom paste, and placed above delicious spring onion bed. The portion of the fish is very small though, it is just a small strip... The main course can be eaten in max. 2-3 minutes.
Desert:
Warm and cold, sweet and salty, soft and crunchy at the same. All sensations are stimulated simultaneously. Well done, really amazing chocolate mousse.
Service;
Very attentive, kind and nice staff. Obviously they are asked to take care of all customers very well, I appreciate the assistance and the service provided.
However I find this much of attention and staff running around the table bit too intense, you can't relax. The whole concept is to make you feel special, a game of medieval aristocracy everyone calling you sir etc... super European concept. You can enjoy a nice meal and have a delicious food without treated like a feudal lord. I prefer places with genuine hospitality...
I am giving 4 starts because in the end this is not a museum, not a theatre but a restaurant and one of the primary missions of a restaurant is to fill people's stomach alongside other things (service, appeal to eye, entertain etc). Since the main course was not big enough and can be eaten in 2-3 mins I have taken 1 star down.
Places can be still "classy" and serve decent portions.
I am challenging the status quo and all-accepted values of fine dining. Restaurants should brake their chains from this restrictive and royal tradition of "small portions for prominent people" principle.
The history behind this is that royal people believes that they are so much liberated from their animalistic needs such as hunger (farmer thing to have) that they can nibble on tiny bits of nicely decorated expensive stuff of an awkwardly big plates and show how aristoricatic they are. The empty space on the plate on the table is more important than what is actually eaten. This tradition is very much in conflict with Irish cuisine and history therefore I expect Irish restaurants to have their own version of fine dining and fill the plate!
Delicious food, great service but a follower of mainland Europe fine dining tradition of tiny portions.
A. M.
What an amazing experience!! From the moment we walked down the stairs and were escorted through the door to meet the maitre d', we felt like we had entered a welcoming and comfortable space. We were greeting with a story and guided to a perfect table for two. The food was prepared with the skill of any of today's top chefs. I have a dairy allergy and each of the four courses was carefully crafted to retain the integrity of the dish while eliminating dairy. Dessert was amazing. All of the listed items contained dairy. The chef created a new dessert with elements that he prepared on the spot. One of the waiters saw it and asked "What's that?" This was a fabulous meal and an experience that I will not forget. Thank you, Chapter one!!!
M. R.
Must be the best restaurant in Dublin right now Aug 2021.
D. D.
The food was good and errorless but I felt a lack of innovation and surprises.
When I go the starred restaurants, I expect more than a perfect cuisson.
Obviously everything was perfectly executed, but the 2 stars are lost for 1) lack of surprises in flavours 2) quite boring atmosphere
J. B.
My son took me here for a meal The whole experience from the time we entered the restaurant was amazing. We were made to feel so special. The food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. I will definitely be going back here and I will be buying vouchers for family and friends
D. H.
I will never regret proposing my wife in this amazing restaurant. Memories that will last for a lifetime: exquisite ambiance, astonishing food and excellent service.
B.
Back again for lunch today and the service, the food and the staff are outstanding. Seriously good experience. Unbeatable for the price you pay. We were in Patrick Guilbauds two weeks ago and their experience doesn't compare. We are booked again for the end of September. If you haven't been, get there. They are on top of their game.
A. K.
I don't know how to fault this place. The staff were so charming and wonderful, the food was filling and delicious and innovative (milk ice cream is so weird but brilliant), the atmosphere is calm and cosy yet modern. And for one of Dublin's top restaurants the early bird menu is surprisingly affordable!
E. P.
Amazingly good. Appreciated how there were options for pescatarians and vegetarians. Although expensive, it wasn't outrageously so like most Michelin-star restaurants I've seen. Highly recommend the premium pre-theater menu!
T. G.
Ok, so first a confession: I’m a little bit biased about Chapter One, as my wife and I had our wedding dinner here... that said, I still rank this restaurant firmly in my top 3 dining experiences of all time. Ross and his team create phenomenal food- using Irish-sourced ingredients for the most part. Their Irish coffee is particularly good, with a super piece of theatre thrown in. Service is exceptional. To anyone visiting Dublin, this would hands down be my first suggestion on where to eat.
M. E.
One of the best restaurants in Dublin ... had a world class meal here. It is so much more than a meal, it is a dining experience. The food is phenomenal, and the waitstaff is knowledgable and attentive. If you're looking for a knock out dinner, definitely come here when you're in Dublin.
C. O.
Food is 5 stars but service is 6!
A. O. B. K.
Always good. Dublin's best great produce great service great food
E. B.
A Michelin Star restaurant that we visited for my 65th birthday. Went 2 years ago for my husband's birthday.
First class food, first class service. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant
D. B.
One of the nicest meals I have ever had. Pre theatre menu is so reasonably priced for such wonderful food. Will be back. Staff also are so friendly and welcoming.
D. R.
Our first time there but considering all the good reviews I was underwhelmed.
The ambience was pleasant and the food was well presented though it didn't deliver any "wow" factor.
What disappointed most were the staff. The maître d' almost panicked when my wife mentioned she was lactose intolerant and asked for his menu recommendation. Our waiter was just plain rude and the hostess, while congratulating us, also pointed out our 30th anniversary was older than she was!
The most surprising element of re-telling our experience was the amount of people who summed up their experience of Chapter One as "good but not great".
In short, they could definitely do better.
K. L.
Made a reservation for single guest on the day of. Omfg this place honestly deserves 2 Michelin stars in terms of both food and service... but I believe that they only received 1 because not all the staff is entirely on the same page.. one waitress failed to explain anything in one of the dishes that were served... she only stated the name of the dish and walked away :/ if service and staff knowledge was impeccable this place honestly deserves two stars. I really can’t pick a fault in either the food or the wine pairing. I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant since Per Se.. and I’ve been to a plethora of Michelin starred restaurants ever since. Definitely a MUST VISIT restaurant if you’re in Dublin let alone Ireland.
PS: petit four isn't four small dessert bites as I usually receive. I only received one- chocolate ganache which is to DIE for no exaggeration intended.
T.
One of the best dining experience in a while. Fresh ingredients, excellent and tasty dishes, friendly and polite stuff... Worth every cent and more...
T. S.
Wife and I were so excited about going here and weren't disappointed in any way. The reviews we'd read beforehand were accurate - service is excellent, friendly and very relaxed (management must be commended for the obvious emphasis they put on service and training their staff), food was superb (we had the Taster menu for 80€). The only minor flaw, and it really is minor, is that the choice of breads was rather disappointing when considering the other foods. Three varieties, brown, French onion and another white bread. No tomatoe or walnut or the likes. We'll be back for sure.
J. B.
Can't give this restaurant high enough a rating. From ambience to decor to staff to menu everything is top of the range. Don't be put off by Michelin star, no airs and graces here, proper food, served exquisitely. Possibly the best meal of my life. Will definitely come here again
M. H.
A lovely experience. The food was amazing and the waiting staff exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. Only one issue we seemed to be tucked away in an almost cavern type setting, a little bit claustrophobic but did not diminish the occasion.
D. R.
Delicious food and wine! The mushroom amuse-bouche wasn't the nicest and the salad a bit plain. However the rest was absolutely fantastic and would definitely come back for more!
L. O.
For our second year anniversary, we wanted something really nice aside hotel restaurant so we asked friends who recommended Chapter one. Made the reservation and checked the menu online(which i usually do, if there is an opportunity).
Oh my goodness, the food was great and the customer service was fantastic.I cant remember what i ordered for but i love it.
G. L.
One star restaurant. Very very interesting. Anything is remarkably flavored in every course. You can remember what you had and remember chef's style.
Very good wine menu. My first choice in Dublin among starred restaurants.
S. L.
Well done guy's, great evening, well.worth a visit
A. K.
A great spot for a celebration. If dinner is a little out of your price range, that doesn't mean you have to miss out. A recent three course lunch set me and friend back 80e each recently and it was money well spent. Food is amazing, service is impeccable and just the whole theatrics of the place makes it all worth it.
A. F.
So I have been undecided for a while what is the best restaurant in Dublin - well have now landed on Chapter One. Food was outstanding, which I think one comes to expect with Michelin Star Status. Ambiance and setting excellent, but what sets this place apart is the staff and their attentiveness. Not an ounce of the pretentiousness that one can come across at some of the fine dining in Dublin. Well run, fantastic setting, delicious food, unrivalled service! I don't do reviews very often, but was compelled to share this one!
B.
Overall a very good experience. We (small group) chose the €80 four course option.
I chose;
- Irish onion & Hegarty cheese soup
- Terrine of chicken and smoked bacon, pickled garlic scape, apple
- Aged fillet of Irish beef, shiitake tart, lindi pepper cream
- warm 68% chocolate mousse
The soup was light and flavorsome, most went for this option.
The Terrine of chicken was quite tasteless
The aged fillet of beef was perfectly cooked and tender, although I’ve had nicer in Dublin city accompanied by the mushroom tart which again I felt was quite bland.
Finally, the warm chocolate mousse was just perfection!!
Overall the food was presented well, good experience with great staff. Unusual location.
T. R.
Have been there around 8 times in the last 10 years. Always impressed. Recommending chef's table for out of this world culinary experience!
D. M.
Possibly my experience was influenced by the level of expectation I had before I came. As I 'normal' member of the public we felt like we were processed through the place. Maybe this place is just for the well-known elites of dublin. Food-wise the starters and deserts were amazing... like fantastic but the main courses left something to be desired, the type of dish that you could probably have cooked better at home... and not had to drop 250 euro in the process!!!
don't think we'll be back, i doubt however that they miss us
M. P.
The food and wine pairing were amazing. The value of the pairing is debatable, but no one else in my group wanted to try something new. While in Dublin it is definitely worth a visit.
g. s.
Need reservation to get there. Staff friendly menu excellent and good wine selection. Don't forget to order signature Irish Coffee! Should be 2 Michelin Star.
A. M.
Nicest food i ever tasted!
E. K.
Really perfect experience at the chef's table near the kitchen. A really striking menu and brilliant matching wines with a real care about service. Friendly and fun. Too bad a cocktail is €15!
G. W.
For a fantastic fine dining experience, this is the place to go. A beautifully set out restaurant in the heart of Dublin they serve some of the most exquisite food I have tasted anywhere in the world.
Located right below the Irish Writer's Center you have the feeling of stepping back into an era when dining out was about the experience as much as the food.
The food is all good and the quality of service is second to none in Dublin. Having a sommelier on hand to help choose the right wine for your dining choices is a particularly fine treat. As treats go however, I highly recommend the chocolate mousse as it is simply divine.
Overall - go and go often!
C. M.
Exceptional service and fine dining at its very best. Focus is on delivering the best of Irish ingredients in imaginative and delightful ways. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Dublin and probably the country. Lunch is great value.
P. M. B.
Service was excellent from the moment we were greeted on the way in the door to having a taxi hailed down for us.
The food was top class also, it was the first time I have tasted Halibut and it was really good.
I couldn't recommend this place enough
K. C.
I brought my wife here for her birthday and honestly the food and service were truly excellent. We both really enjoyed ourselves. Well worth the price.
E. A. V.
We enjoyed the dinner, but not as much you should enjoy in Michelin star restaurant
y. y.
Everybody should go to the restaurant. That's Definitely best lunch in Dublin after I tried dozens of restaurant. Whatever the price for Michelin one star restaurant or the service. Everything is perfect!!! That would be my last meal in Dublin and no regrets!
C. M.
Whats not to love, impeccable food, excellent staff. Beautiful ambiance... in a word 'awesome'
d. C.
Fantastic! Excellent services! Great food! A place to chat and chat as it takes a bit of time of wait as I guess they need a little longer time for preparation. Food is yummy yummy yummy!
C. G.
O M Food ... Incredible... really just amazing... I'll dine on the memories of dining here for a long time to come. And I'll be back...
Top tip... try the white wine "Moment of Silence", Wellington, South Africa.
C. D.
Outstanding food, service and ambience. The best Dublin restaurant. The two and three course lunch menus are a great cost-effective way to enjoy fine dining.
C. C. W.
Had experienced the Chef's table and was very impressed with the menu and wine pairings. Very highly recommended for the foodies who loves to try new flavours and texturea.
P. D.
amazing restaurant! serves delicious food and excellent service!
T. S.
We had a wonderful time at this restaurant, the food is exceptional, the staff are so professional and informative. This is a wonderful experience to be put on everybody’s bucket list.
R. K.
Got mackeral soup and skate main. Both were amazing. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. I've taken one star off for lack of wheelchair access. In this day and age there's no excuse for it.
P. F.
Lovely place. The staff are wonderful and so is the food.
K. M.
Trying way too hard to be fancy. Almost everything was underwhelming. The wait staff was sporadic and shotty at best. I'd be willing to bet they lose their star this year if the stars were aligned.
D. C.
Would have given a 5 as food is very good, staff are excellent, however, one of the party asked for a glass of Chardonnay and on the bill this was e15 . I felt this was an exorbitant price for what was a small glass of wine
S. H.
1 star restaurant, 1 star dishes and 1 star service. Everything as you'd expect it to be. Wine pairing is perfect and every dish straight to the point. If you are looking for the classical 1 star experience, that is it.
T. F.
The service is amazing with high quality food. The location is in an unexpected place in the less valuable side of the city. You will enjoy your moment there.
s.
Love the food, staff and atmosphere here, great place to celebrate, even if you’re just celebrating that it’s the weekend! World class food and wine.
D. M.
Simply the best restaurant in Dublin. The food is inventive and well put together without being fussy or having tiny 'nouveau' portions.
Staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is second to none, classy with out being stuffy or pretentious ( I've seen a table start singing and not been rebuked by staff!)
There's a pianist on some evenings to help ease the wait for your seat while you enjoy an apertif.
There's a chef's table in the kitchen which is well worth a visit, the chef will usually pop over for some banter.
B. M.
Got a voucher so said we'd treat ourselves to the 'Theatre Menu' which is actually very reasonably priced. The service was impeccable and you were always fussed over. Highly recommended
M. B.
A part of 5 girls [women] had just the most wonderful time yesterday in Chapter 1. Martin and all the staff could not possibly have done more for us.The food was wonderful, the service super, super friendly. Martin even led us all around Parnell Square and hailed taxis for us.
We will be back!!!!
Great day out.
Miriam Brew
M. C.
We dined her last weekend with friends
The menu was reallly good and the choice of wines was impressive
The staff were brilliant
The food was good but fell a little short of our expectations
It was very good and we will be back again
Good choice for a Resturant in Dublin city centre
p. O. C.
I ate here with a group of friends laat night and loved it
One of the finest meals i have ever eaten. Definitely the best in dublin
I can't wait to go back
A. P.
Ate here for the first time last week and was more than happy. food was great and the wait staff was a pleasure. Would give 6 stars if i could. We will be back
S. T.
Had a great experience there. The service is great. Friendly staff. The wine choices are excellent. The food is lovely but NOT WOW.
F. v. d. K.
Fantastic food. The chef took his time to elaborate about the food and was friendly enough to invite us in the kitchen. Highly recommended.
J. M.
Amazing food & amazing staff - a bit expensive, indeed. nevertheless, we´ll for sure come back
L. D. N.
This is a very expensive restaurant.one of the top restaurants in Dublin. What you pay is not only for the quality of food but for the whole experience: the decor, the service( excellent with a Nort-side axccent!), the way the food is presented. Do have an Irish coffee: it will be prepared in front of you by your waiter who will caramelise the brown sugar in a pan before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. Dress up!
S. O.
This has been a regular haunt for special occasions over the past year and it's definitely one of my favourite places! If there was a 6th start, it would be for Chapter One! Ha well, almost.
P. D.
Always excellent. Great atmosphere and welcoming staff accompany top class food

(Translated) We ate at this spectacular restaurant on our trip to Dublin. It is fantastic with very attentive staff. We had the three course dinner. I had a starter called crab and crab - - I came up with this recipe as a scallop wrapped in a crispy pastry - - which was outstanding. The Irish crab is some of the best I've ever seen. I had the lamb as a main course and it was excellent. Others in our party had duck and fish. The wine list is extensive and interesting; we opted for a South African red, which was excellent. The staff are very helpful and 210. In short a delicious meal at a very special restaurant.
Highest recommendation!

(Translated) The first chapter gave one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. The staff is very professional and polite. The food was from this world, if there is a duck on the menu, please try it, and Irish whiskey is worth the team to make it on their own. It is worth every cent

(Translated) Very very good food, definitely worth the star. The sommelier is great because it is deeply relaxed, honest and direct. The kitchen was moving very quickly, we asked to slow down a bit after the second course. Wasn't a problem, the rest of the menu came at a comfortable pace.
