D.I first went to Darwin’s with a group of approx 12 work buddies quite a few years ago. It was very good. As a result it became a favourite of all my family. A few years ago at Christmas while having drinks with another group I rang after 8pm on the off chance that we might get a table for 6. We did and got such a friendly welcome that since that time various members of our group have frequented this great spot with friends and family.
We went again a few days ago and, as usual, the lady who does Front of House was there making us laugh and making us welcome. We had a fabulous night with great drinks, fine food , lovely service and great fun. Highly recommended!!

S. S.This restaurant surprised me and my boyfriend. We found and called many steakhouse but they didn't have any free tables, we were hungry and dispirited. When we decided to go back home, I made the last call to enquire any free table, which was to Darwins Restaurant.
so, we got there right after the call. The food was delicious and waiter was kind. We were very enjoyable . The T bone was huge and tasty and bouillabaisse was fresh. We both were agreed that the fried mushrooms and spinach with butter is the most delicious dish ever.
Will definitely come again!

All the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and we definitely felt pampered when we left, out of pocket for €127 for some amazing sirloin, some wonderful rib-eye and great entree's accompanied by excellent whiskey sours and wines. The steak was perfectly cooked to order. Had a huge t-bone that I could barely finish. Would recommend a light side of spinach with it. The starter of baby squid was very tasty too. Found this family-run restaurant with rave reviews and it amazed me really. 20 oz bone-in Irish Black Angus ribeye steak (but the bone was totally insignificant in size and weight), medium rare, fantastically cooked, served with red wine jus + buttered mash potatoes, perfect is just not enough for me to describe it. Blissful !!😋😌😍
J. B.There's really not a bad thing that can be said about this restaurant. The staff are exceptional, polite, knowledgeable, friendly, but non-intrusive. The food is fantastic, great selection of wines, it's comfortable, and welcoming while also being relaxing. This is the best steak in Dublin by far, but also does amazing vegetarian food. Don't come to Dublin without eating here!
P. H.Our first time at Darwins and it was well worth it! The service was warm and hospitable and the food absolutely excellent. When staff overheard we were celebrating a birthday, they brought us a candle and a round of drinks on the house. What a lovely touch!

V. L.Let me tell you about Darwins. My boyfriend and I stayed in Dublin recently and wanted to go to a nice restaurant on our last night and Darwins was the absolute TOP choice. I looked through so many places and this was the one that stuck with me. The fact that everything is locally sourced is so amazing and such a great aspect. Our server Arthur was so nice and funny and has such a wonderful personality. We met the owner, Delores, and she is just the best. She cares so much about the restaurant and the customers that come in and it shows. The food was amazing and the look and feel of the restuarant are so calming and warm. The price point of the food was amazing and we loved every moment of our time at Darwins. I watched the video on their site about how they source their food and it made a huge difference upon choosing this place. 10/10 would come again!

(Chickpeas and lentils based..). My vegan friend was so impressed. I could not believe it had no meat in it!! Loved the presentation of the dishes - top notch. Really quality food at very reasonable prices. Staff very attentive and friendly. Always a big plus in a city centre location. I'll be back.

On more than one occasion Dolores has brought a drink on the house to the table . Indeed once she brought my wife on a small tour of the restaurant ... it is the small (but big) touches that keep us coming back time after time

The starters were ok, my wife had the mushroom risotto which could have a little more seasoning and I have the selection of breads, it came with three dips and some butter. For mains we both had surf and turf, the steaks were cooked perfectly as we order it was excellent. For desert we both had Eton mess, it was ok again, could have a little more merengue and less fruit. The environment is very old style and the staff is really nice. Overall an enjoyable experience. I recommend it.

Delicious cuts, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Had the 20oz ribeye on the bone; it was perfectly balanced between firm, flavoursome flesh and melt-in-your-mouth marbling.
My date had their lamb rack, which was equally well prepared and had an absolutely gorgeous flavour.
Plenty of seafood and veggie options exist. They look great on paper but my only problem is that I can't get past the steaks!
The staff treated us exceptionally well, we were left wanting for nothing.
Overall it was a lovely evening; been to this place a few times over the years and it's wonderful to see them maintaining the high level of quality and service that sets them apart from the rest.

M.I have been a fan of Darwin's for many years - its steak is absolutely fantastic (a moronic review on here claims that the fillet is the size of a rasher - completely untrue nonsense), yet its other choices never disappoint either - the bouillabaisse, the catch of the day, the risotto for starters, and the mouth-watering desserts, especially their chocolate brownie. An absolute joy of a restaurant and I wish it and its superb staff the very best in the decades of success ahead!

The confluence of price and quality is great, and it's a real treat even for fussy eaters, as there is some flexibility to your meal, including choices of sides and sauces. As much as I am a ribeye sort of person, the New York strip here was great. A very pleasant place, accommodating, friendly, and easy to access. Perfect sort of spot to bring your father for his birthday or even a nice dinner date with your meat-eating partner.

The staff are just brilliant and really go out of their way to make sure you're having the best meal possible. It's not just good food for meat eaters, vegetarian options are amazing as well! T. S.The service and food was good. The meat was a bit charred but otherwise good and the sides were excellent. My only problem is that I booked through First table, a website which splits your bill in half if you go to the restaurant on an off time. The restaurant was obviously aware of this, yet they saw us order from the pre theatre menu and didn't mention that the reduction was only on the a la carte menu. I think it was pretty obvious we went in mind of getting a discount so it was pretty disappointing that they didn't bother to mention this to us. They only said it when we got the bill.
o. s.Went here for a birthday and it was a really nice restaurant, and I heard a lot of great things about it but unfortunately the steak was way too charred on the outside and it's all I could taste, I asked for medium so I'm surprised this was the case. Their sides like the potato purée, mushroom etc are delicious and the jus also, but I can't excuse he star of the show, the steak, being ruined.

Despite my own inability to read a menu properly (I blame the delicious Cosmopolitan), everything was perfect - my fillet steak was cooked perfectly, and was so large I needed help finishing it!
Still managed to make some room for the exquisite sticky toffee pudding with a poached pear and vanilla icecream.

Food is consistenly excellent, with very friendly & efficient service. The menu is very good & varied. The pre-theatre menu is particularly good value. The restaurant is run by a mother & daughter, Dolores & Amy. There is a lovely vibe among all the staff. We have been to Darwin's for many occasions, birthdays, work nights out, dinners for 2 etc. Every occasion was so enjoyable & memorable. I can heartily recommend Darwin's, a lovely place to escape to, after a busy day in work, or shopping!

First time we came across this place we were walking past very late one Christmas Saturday evening, it was freezing and having been refused everywhere else to eat due to not booking, we were new to Dublin, Darwin's opened their doors and couldn't have been more welcoming even though they were fully booked and got us a table with a bit of juggling, we were so grateful and impressed. But we do book since!
Once iv booked my hotel for Dublin- book here also. Pre-theatre menu is fab and prices are very good for Dublin. You will want to sit all evening here!

J. I.Amazing. The meal alone was more than worth it, but add the ambiance of artwork dedicated to Darwin's work and the meticulously hand crafted Beagle Room and it's the total dining package. The Beagle Room is a replica of the interior of Darwin's ship, the HMS Beagle.
Top it off with a friendly chat with Dolores, the maitre d (one of the owning family members) and her amazing staff. If you're not planning your next visit by the end of your meal, we can never be friends 😂

S.A little disappointed my hubby had mozzarella salad no salad with it ..one tomato....steak for two came out with big bone which we brought home 4 dog..at first the steak was juicy well 3/4 pieces where... 4 95 euros defo not worth money mash was lovely and onion rings but pepper sauce was bland and watery..ambience was lovely
