Reviews of Ristorante Romano
Lovely lunch and great value! Was gutted to find another Italian restaurant nearby had closed down and happened to stumble upon this hidden gem. Great food for an amazing price. Staff really friendly too. Will definitely be back!
YUMMY food, friendly staff and cute atmosphere. I can't get enough of how friendly and polite the staff are. I've already visited this place twice and their pasta and pizzas are so delicious, hot and very close to authentic Italian. It's really pocket friendly too :)
Always try their soup of the day. The two times I went I had broccoli soup and cream of vegetable soup. It comes with bread and butter - tasty as....can't find the right positive adjective! Loved every bit of this place and I will surely visit again as long as I am in Dublin.. my new fav Italian restaurant in the city 😉❤️
A restaurant with delicious food. Pasta al dente and with a unique flavor. The only problem is that they were very short of bringing us the bill.
Located on Dublin's Capel street Ristorante Romano is only a brief walk from the shopping district hubbub. As far as eateries go it appears somewhat unassuming and rather compact on the inside, but don't be deceived Romanos is like the venue that keeps giving.
My partner and I were dining from the early bird menu, which is refreshingly humble and brief, there are no complications and no notions. You get what is written and at an excellent price.
Both the starters were retro and "classics not misplaced" at the same time. In my opinion there will always be a place for pancetta melon, and seafood cocktail. For the mains we had pasta salmone and Pasta Il pollo, simply and beautifully done, served in portions that won't leave you begging.
Personally If I could get the chicken cream sauce on tap... I'd buy it by the gallon. Simple. Rich. Delicious.
The staff are friendly and the atmosphere welcoming, it may not be fancy pantsy but it is definitely worth a visit or 6.
We really enjoyed the food, the stuff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place. :)
Really delicious and good choices of lunch
special three course.
We went here as a big group and they arranged a long table for us. Really nice food. The deco is vintage. Good vegetarian options too as one of my friends is vegetarian. There is a bit of waiting time to get the dishes but that could be because our group is huge.
A long standing Italian restaurant that delivers home style Italian food and great prices. By far the best early bird 3 course offer in Dubkin. I kid you not.
Great lunch, friendly service, authentic Italian cuisine
Great food and I defy anyone to find a more reasonably priced restaurant right in town. Spotlessly clean. Staff lovely. The Cassata almost too good to eat. Highly recommended.
Best pasta I have had in a long time, white wine sauce fantastic, staff very friendly and we had a great time, highly recommended.
Really nice pizzas here. First time here, arrived for the early bird. Nice value for money. Staff turned people away because they were full shortly after we sat down. Make a reservation to make sure you get a table!
Fantastic. Food great service very efficient. It's hard to believe how much cleaning they do in a kitchen. The staff spend some efforts keeping the kitchen like it was never used. Never seen as much cleanliness. makes me feel reassured of the care they take with food.
Staff are pleasant. Great to get an odd joke with the owner Romano. A keen cyclist who I had the pleasure of cycling with.
For a 50 year old he can fairly motor.
Decor inside reflects his passion for cycling. Photos of great landscapes all over the wall.
Thank you to all staff
Great place. Bike lovers will fell very welcome (and not lovers too). Fresh and nice food. Friendly staff. The owner is very polite and friendly.
Years ago, i spent a day in dublin with my mom. We lived far and rurally and travelled to spend the day in the city and go back home. we stumbled across this place completely randomly while looking for a place to have an authentic italian pizza. It was the best pizza we had ever had up until that point, and since that point. My mom kept the receipt so she could remember where this place was, but she lost it, and forgot the name. We returned to dublin and searched for it, but because we had no idea of any street names or how we even got to this restaurant or the name, we couldn’t find it anywhere. we moved to dublin years later, we thought about this place ALL the time, constantly bringing up how it’s the best pizza we’ve ever had and the shop “mysteriously vanished” my mother found the receipt TODAY. all these years later, and we cried when we found this place. so dramatic! but it was one of our favorite memories and long time mysteries. i hope you guys will re open soon, so we can finally have the best pizza we’ve ever eaten again!
Best Italian in Dublin, a must visit for anyone with an interest in Italian cycling and classic Mamas food.
Beautiful food, great friendly staff and reasonably priced
I had a carbonara, it was absolutely delicious! I strongly recommend it!
Excellent Italian food at very good price.
The food is good, and the price is fair. I ordered Pasta Alfredo, it was delicious.
We have been going to Romanos for over fifteen years and it never disappoints and in fact always delights. The best pizzas and fresh pasta in Dublin. The staff haven’t changed in all that time and are so friendly. This is a gem of a spot and did I mention the best value but really this place is all about the food!
I love the place too much to give it 4 stars but the decor needs updating. And I don't mean at the loss of all the cycling paraphernalia which I don't have a problem with. All that said, the food is fantastic and ridiculously underpriced. Where can you get 3 courses, including fresh pasta for under 16-20 quid? No where else in Dublin, that's for sure. Staff are great too.
Been going here since I was a kid with my dad, and it's always one to be recommended to everyone. Best pizza and pasta in Dublin and great prices. Recommend the Garlic Ciabatta bread and Pasta Napoletana.
My cousin, who says a lot of barristers eat here, recommended it to us. Delighted we followed her recommendation. We popped in here after we visited the national museum. The food was fresh, tasty and very reasonable. The staff were also very friendly. Lovely little place and so reasonable for dublin city. Will definitely be back. Thank you
Went to Romano Italian in Capel Street Dublin last night with friends and the food was very nice. I could have eaten a bit more, but no complaints. I certainly will be back. I gladly recommend this restaurant for a meal with or without friends. The restaurant was almost full when we arrived, so that's a good sign as well. I would book a table at the weekend. Go and enjoy an evening out in Romano for a very nice meal.
It looks like a tired restaurant in need of a serious facelift. And it is. But don't be fooled or put off. The food is simple but tasty and cooked skilfully. Pasta is superb. They do pizza also and the next table's looked and smelled superb. They make their own pasta and dough every day and they know what they're doing. It is also excellent value for money.
Highly recommended for authentic Italian food.
Gorgeous authentic food! Excellent service. Perfect.
This little restaurant on Capel street dublin serves very good simple but very tasty food at very reasonable prices. Their vegetable pasta contains lots of lovely vegetables and are coated in a beautiful sauce. The staff are really nice and have been serving food there for a very long time. This place has a relaxed feel to it and a great place to meet a group of friends for a chat as there is no loud music to interrupt your conversation.
I really liked the staff. They were very helpful and kind. Thats the only reason i give 3 stars because the restaurant alone needs some renovation. It looks like it popped from another decade.. in a bad way. We only had pizzas which were ok but the dough looked like these premade pita bread. Indeed italian pizza dough needs to be thin, but this did not look right. The prices are reasonable.
The best pizza in Ireland by a mile. Always a pleasure to eat here. Everything on the menu is delicious and fresh. The staff are always so friendly.
It's a little gem.
Fabulous and very reasonable. A great evening out, food chat and wine. The staff are amazing as always I will definitely go back. My brother has always recommended Romamo's to me. He had his lunch there for many a day and still goes. That says it all for me. 4/5 Stars it has to be
My family have been eating in Romanos for the past 14 years. Incredible homemade Italian food and v hard working staff. Value for money that you will find hard to get elsewhere in Dublin.
Best Italian in town.. Amazing Food & Coffee 😘👌
The old reliable. Been going here for years and it's as good as ever. Staff are genuinely lovely and the food is top class, though Im not sure about most of the menu as I always go for the prawn cocktail and the awesome spag bol.
Strange Italian restaurant run by a group of asians but surprising good!
Great choice, of food and all of it tastes so good and in the early bird you can make it even cheaper.
Staff are really nice, very welcoming and there is no rush to get you out the door which is always nice.
Very much recommended if you enjoy basic, tasty food that wont kill your wallet.
Great authentic Italian food in a good location but staffed and served by non Italians. Go figure. A cycling themed restaurant, think the giro d'Italia, a bit dated but busy when I called before 7pm. A good early bird for €15. I'd return here.
Great little place. I had the. Black pepper steak and my wife had lasagna. Both were excellent. Prompt service and good food. The sauce with my steak was so good I considered dipping my vegetables in it.
I've been a few times, the food is gorgeous, the staff are always happy and there is a great buzz about the place, you will never again want to eat a pizza anywhere else. Yummy.
Probably one of the best Italian meals I've had in Ireland. Ambience a little lacking but fabulous food at fantastic value. Highly recommend.
Good food and service, but decor needs updated. Prices are a bit high for the atmosphere. Also, for an Italian restaurant they should have Pinot Grigio available by the glass verses a Sauvignon Blanc in my humble opinion. The food is good and they have nice presentation.
We popped in here on our way to see a play in the smock alley which is literally a 5 min walk other side of the liffey... food was quick... fresh... real tasty and very reasonable.. staff were very friendly. Lovely little place and so reasonable for dublin city. Will definitely b back soon
Great food Great service..highly recommended
Excellent value lunch deal - €7.95 for any mains and a tea or coffee. The food is of excellent quality and I'd happily go back in the future. The staff were prompt and accommodating.
Such a lovely restaurant! The staff has been there for ages, the food is so reasonable and is proper home made. Always love going back there!
Has to be the least Italian Italian restaurant I've ever been in, and someone has a real obsession with bicycle racing. Not sure of the nationality of the staff, but I'm guessing south East Asia somewhere. Very fast service, food is fine. One downfall is that the wine is like drinking vinegar, a real stomach burner.
Very nice food. We had the early bird menu. 3 courses €14,99. The restaurant was full. Could do with an additional waiter!
I had a pizza and garlic bread. Both were adequate. My friend had the matriciana which she said was okay.
Bathroom was dirty and service a little eccentric but it was a decent dining experience for the price.
By far and away the best Italian Restaurant in Dublin. Great fresh food, reasonably priced, good wine, and outstanding staff.
Been coming here for 10 years. Fantastic food and staff. Nice quiet place to escape the busy streets.
Great food at a really good price. Lunch menu includes starter and coffee. Unfortunately, in my experience, staff is not too friendly.
What a wonderful restaurant, right in the heart of the city. Great food, great service and great company with wonderful staff. The only restaurant in Dublin to make fresh homemade pasta every morning.
Lovely quaint restaurant. Great value for money with the lunch special. Hope they get a chance to put dessert on that special
Love to here eat here . Love their thin pizzas plus the garlic bread is really good . Really good menu. Service is quick and the staff are friendly
Have been GOING here since it opened .Love it....And it was one of the First non smoking restaurants in Dublin.I was a smoker back then and I loved it so much that it didn't bother me .Their Mussels are to die for
Nice pizza, and very decent prices. Decor is comfortably familiar (it looks like it hasn't changed in years) and staff are nice
I love Romano's. Great pizza and pasta and so easy going. Had a good chat with the man himself this time too.
Lovely menus we enjoyed it very much also wonderful services , lovely very comfortable restaurant
Well done to the proprietor & staffs of Romea Restaurant
We will come back again 😁👏👌👍🍸❤️
GF and I really like it. It's not a snazzy place by any stretch of the imagination but it does have a local feel to it and the food is yum.
The pizzas and pastas are exceptional. Not only are they delicious they are excellent value for money.
Cozy Italian Pizza & Pasta restaurant. 5 stars for consistently good food, service and value. Nicely located away from Temple Bar yet central.
Food is inexpensive and sufficient for a sitting.
Beer is Italian, as are the items on the menu.
The coffee is good.
For the price, it's well worth it.
Absolutely love it here, I come here with my Boyfriend on dates and Mammy/Daughter dates. Food is always so good and the service is great and very friendly.
We enjoyed this little restaurant in heart of Dublin. Great pasta dishes, decent house red carafes. Not noisy.
Very friendly service. Great pizza. Very reasonably priced and perfect for a relaxed meal on a Friday evening after work!
What I loved about this place was not just the pizza I had, but the friendly staff, homely atmosphere and the ability to have a quiet tete-a-tete.
Everytime I go to Dublin I Always look forward to eating in Romano's!! Food is fantastic and service is excellent. They always put a smile on my face 😁
you need to book to get a good seat away from the door
80s menu & decor and i love it.
prawn cocktail and a spag bol
parma & melon and a carbonara
Great food! €15 for 3 courses between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. Very popular with locals and tourists.
It's always a pleasure going to Romano's.
The staff are great and the atmosphere is lovely.
The early bird special is a bargain!
Two-course lunch with tea/coffee for €9.50 - hard to beat given the quality of the food! Fast, friendly service, too.
Amazing pizza and food - Best in town.

Delicious!
Lovely little Italian!!
A great Italian restaurant
The dishes are all fresh and beautifully prepared by hand. Sure, it's served and partly prepared by Asians in an Italian restaurant, but that's not a disadvantage at all, even if you might think otherwise. This love and precision on the plate really impressed us. Unfortunately, the interior design reflects something different. A beautiful candle burns on each table in the evening, which gives the whole thing a better atmosphere. The price-performance ratio is pretty good. 2 x 3 courses for just under 30 euros!!! We've eaten something similar before for more than twice as much!
Apparently the pizza is really good.
I ordered the "Vegetarian Pasta" and it was a disappointment... because I expected there to be a lot of vegetables and very little pasta and it was just the opposite, a lot of pasta and very few vegetables.
The really affordable price we have eaten for €15 for a starter, which in my case was an acceptable vegetable puree, a main dish, dessert and coffee.
Very good restaurant for a romantic meal by candlelight. A word of advice go there before 7:30 p.m. the formula is cheaper. The pasta is excellent. Cycling lovers will also be delighted by the decoration in homage to the Giro, the Tour de France and a very beautiful quote from Eddy Merckx.
Excellent value for money, we ate very well for only 8 euros per person ("lunch" formula 1 course, without drinks but free water). Setting that doesn't look like much, simple but effective cuisine.
I was always curious to go to the restaurant. I didn't regret anything eating there last week! Wonderful food, values and very attentive staff! We love it! Bruschetta, pasta with alfredo sauce and tiramisu are great options! We will definitely return. Oh, and the early bird menu is cheaper! Enjoy!

Comida maravilhosa
Only the name is Roman: Carbonara is the Chinese version: thin spaghetti with strips of cooked ham, peas (? But when ever in carbonara (?)?), mushrooms (?????), something that seemed Sausage, sloppy cream...5 stars because it was good anyway....but it wasn't carbonara!
Good Italian restaurant, they say the best in Dublin.
The truth is that the prices are not excessive and if you go to eat there is a menu that is even more affordable, the place is a little old-fashioned and the service is not very friendly but the food is good and in general it is correct.
Eaten well and cheaply.
Not a "real" Italian - but the food is very typically Italian and I was more than satisfied. This time I didn't take any photos...
The lunch menu costs 9.5 euros and is available as a combination of soup, main and coffee, making it affordable. The taste is good compared to the price.
Delicious food. Prices enough to satisfy a hungry person. Quick service. It's worth knowing.
