Best meal I've had in ages. Every dish was perfectly balanced flavour, portion size and presentation.
You could not fault it in any way.
Interesting rooms with perfect little details. Alcoves in bathrooms with candles. Glass bricks in walls near ceiling for light. Huge nook full of chopped wood on either side of wood burning stove. Comfy waiting sitting room with blazing warm fire welcoming you in on a chilly night. Lots of little details that add up to careful thought and hard work preparation!
Craft beer, normal beers and wines.
Warm bread rolls, fresh out of the oven.
Scallops in a lobster bisque sauce. Wonderful rich flavour in every mouthful.
Beef cheek, slow cooked, parsnip, celeriac and again an amazing sauce.
Pork belly, melt in the mouth with an explosion of flavour. Toulouse sausage and black pudding.
Perfectly cooked John dory. Light fluffy crispy skin. Amazing.
Fillet steak, mash. Nothing more nothing less. A small pot of pure heaven in the form of a reduced sauce. Magic.
All served with cheese gratin potatoes, and a sort of ratatouille, courgette and tomatoes.
Magnificent meal.
Deserts. Again perfect.
Rhubarb fool. Shortbread biscuits. Fool light fluffy full of flavour. Ruburb compote underneath. Served in a double walled glass floating in mid air! Excellent shortbread.
Banana custard with crunchy fingers and ice cream. Fizzy melt in your pop. Pops with flavour.
Cheese board. Excellent.
Baileys coffee, cappuccino, latte and espresso.
It is rare to find a place to eat where everything works seamlessly.
Friendly professional staff, superb food, happy guests and every course perfect. Easy to find 1 good course or another but EVERY course requires dedication from a team who should be proud of their work and results.
I cannot recommend this place more highly. Not expensive, good value for what you receive.

C. M. S.Fantastic lunch on Sunday, booked table for 12:30, flavours were fantastic, presentation delighted the eye. Lovely homely relaxed atmosphere, could not believe it was 2:30 when we were leaving, thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Be sure to book, there was not one spare table when we were there.
A walk around the grounds of Altamont gardens and down by the river was exactly what was required after the fine dining.

A. C.Visited Sha Roe for the first time redently as a birthday treat for my wife. We had been talking about trying it for ages as we heard great reviews but it's a 30 minute drive away from where we live so we always end up going closer to home. We really didn't know what we were missing!
Stephanie is a wonderful hostess - she literally could not be more helpful and friendly. As for the food - just mind-bogglingly good.
My wife is a recent convert to vegetarianism and tries to go vegan as much as possible - which is often still a big problem when dining out in Ireland. I checked the Sha Roe menu online ahead of our visit and saw they had vegetarian options so emailed to ask if they catered for vegans - and received a very fast reply saying that the chef would prepare vegan meals specially if requested. Suffice to say my wife rated the meal the best she has ever had - and we have eaten in numerous 5-Star Hotels around the world during our travels.
For myself I had the slow roasted pork belly for starter - which was ridiculously good - followed by the braised beef cheek for main. I have never tasted anything so beefy in my life - and it was so tender I could have given my teeth the night off!
Rounded it all off with a magnificent homemade dessert for my wife and cheese & biscuits for me.
If you are looking for cheap and cheerful this isn't the place to go - but, that said, for the quality (and quantity) of food served I thought the prices were exceptionally good value.
This was a truly special meal and we are already saving our cents for a return visit!
If I could give six stars I would.
