Would go back for other staff and food but definitely don't know how manager is happy with her own service I'm sure she would expect more from the staff she hires if they acted like that. S.Visited Galway with family and wasn't sure where to eat, there were 9 of us trying to get inside so not an easy task during Covid. Cooke's managed to seat us at 2 different tables. Service was very good but food was mediocre. Wouldn't go back

Lunch. I must say that it is a great place for dinner. It's really good food. And the staff a really nice and helpful and friendly. And yes I will be going back again soon. It's just a great place for dinner or lunch.

H. E.Good atmosphere, OK service (our waitress was so brief with us we were afraid to ask a question- LOL), and good food overall. Lamb shank is a great dish to order. Don’t order the tofu dish. That was the saltiest food I’ve eaten in ages (and I LOVE salt!). Holy crow.
Also it took 45 minutes for our food to show up.

J. C.It was my first visit to Cooks in Galway last night. My friends were all their before. First impressions were very positive as the restaurant was very busy. We had a table booked for 4 and we were seated almost straight away. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I had the duck spring rolls for starters, they were lovely. I then had the slow cooked lamb, the best plate of food I have ever had. I have never tasted lamb that good!
Top marks to all at Cooks.

O. C.Went for a bite to eat here just after the COVID restrictions were relaxed. Had the place to ourselves and the food was amazing. Incredible bruschetta, lamb shank and creme brulee. My wife had baked salmon with lemon hollandaise which was amazing too.

J. B.I'd like to think if uv made ur reservation a week in advance, u wud be given a nice table rather than one that feels like a thoroughfare.
We were given another table on our request, and were served drinks there but had to relinquish it then as, it had been reserved for ppl with a pram.
We accepted a table upstairs which turned out to be right inside a door with one of our party of 3 immediately facing the open door and view of all who came up and down the stairs. Had to ask for a replacement chair as one of our three was very wobbly.
Didn't like to ask for yet another table and we were not offered a further change of table as they became available.
Our first choice of fishcakes were all gone. Shared a starter but was not given a second plate. Starter ok but not great. Lamb stew and lamb shank mains were lovely. Fish 'n chips were nice but peas in short supply. Gold medal goes to Rachel who was friendly and patient and assured us there was no rush about ordering dessert etc.
We really enjoyed our nite out but that was really down to good company. Lovely venue, but don't pack in ur customers and treat them well.
m. m.Came here new years eve, staff were super busy but had one of the best experiences in galway here arrived without reservations but they accommodated us. Had an honestly brilliant meal great staff and will be recommending Cooke's Restaurant to friends without hesitation. A+

Not getting the 5th star due to to the attitude of the dark haired waitress( hair up in a bun)
Making facial gestures and eye shrugging when customers ( the 2 foregin females sitting inside the window) who were left sitting for an age before their orders were taken, the same 2 customers that wanted assistance with what was on the menu. The same 2 customers who’ could have been dealt with before their adjoining empty table was cleared. Saying no availability to the 4 customers that looked for a table, yet the blond haired staff lady ( who wasn’t dressed in black) suggested sit at the bar and I’ll have a table in a few minutes. Two or three of the staff seemed flustered when it came to sorting bills or getting something for a customer.
I accept staff can have a bad day, give it a try as the food is good.

J. K.Must be the only restaurant in all of Ireland that was out of Guineas. Wrong soup of the day was offered. Fish cakes were mediocre. Pasta and steak were excellent, although wrong potatoes were initially delivered. Staff was friendly, courteous and quick to respond.

Cookes offered to reserve their upstairs room and even worked with her to put together a fixed price menu that included a good selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts to keep everyone happy. It made the evening so simple and uncomplicated. We ended up with 24 people and everyone was THRILLED with the food and the staff was fabulous. Can't say enough about the place. Would definitely revisit if I get back to Galway.

The grilled sea bass, the ravioli, and a nice bonus for the quality lamb shank. An Ireland-France mix it seems. The decor is original. On the other hand, count on 18 to 25€ per dish.
