Excellent place right in the heart of the city center. Halal Moroccan Cuisine.
The Moroccan salad was fantastic. Salad Dressing was perfect! Enjoyed the Pasta Funghi..
The couscous was delicious as well but the couscous quantity was way too much and made it quite dry. The service was absolutely delightful. Loved the girl serving there. Very cheerful and helpful.. will definitely make it a must visit place each time we are in Galway

Wow!!!! First time eating Moroccan food , I just knew I would fall in love and I did. I ordered takeaway and came back the next day to eat outdoor. Lovely atmosphere, , , friendly staff , clean and the decor is beautiful. If I’m Galway again we will be back.

This was the best shrimp pasta I’ve ever had, makes me wish I lived in Galway so I could go back! The waitress was great and asked all the right questions to everyone to ensure they got what they wanted! It’s small, but I think really underrated!

Stumbled across it today looking for something to eat 2 adults 2 kids. Lots of room at 2pm. Staff Very nice. Food great value. Kids burger and chips and pizza and chips great portion burger was nice and thick. €6.5 each. Chips chunky and tasty.
Garlic bread with cheese starter for them. Was huge and tasty. Adult got starter and main for €16.50 each Moroccan lambs skewers very tasty and veg could cous very nice.
We were not looking for beers but you can order them from pub below and bring them in.

Just finished scoffing a superb mixed platter and Lamb Tagine and had to review. Absolutely superb, feels like we picked the best restaurant in town tonight - such great food in a tucked away gem, sat by the window and can still listen to the band out on the street playing to the Sunday night crowd.

I really love this place. The food is divine and always really great quality for reasonable prices whether you are dining or having it delivered. Truly one of the first places I would recommend to go in Galway city.
J. B.
Our server Marco was absolutely amazing! The food was incredibly good. I loved the quiet and homey atmosphere too. Definitely would recommend this place for a bite to eat!
M. N. D.
The food was unreal. I would definitely recommend this place. I will be back. Lovely staff and like I said already... The food is AMAZING
M. R.
The menu had Moroccon cuisine which had no flavour and taste. The starters were chicken rolls which had good texture and taste. The calamari was a disappointment. We had Fish Tagine which more of a tomato pasta sauce flavour. The beef Tagine was well cooked and tender but lacked flavour. The chicken in the chicken was was small and was pre cooked or grilled and not with the tagine.
I would recommend for their Italian cuisines the white sauce pasta was amazing and flavorful. The spicy chips were amazing too.
T. C.
Loved the kebab. The Moroccan spicy chips were a treat as well.
Good service from the staff: the Banoffi pie was a dream!!!
R. K.
Good location in city centre, good staff, but thats probably it....food was very pricy - 14 euro for vegetarian tajine with cous cous definitely didnt worth more than 6 euros...even taste was very plain. Decoration in the place itself mix of everything....

Was nice. By the phone they were really aware of Coeliac disease. Their menu they have "CF" options, that's Coeliac friendly. By phone I felt really safe. On the day, although I told the waitress that I'm a Coeliac and I feel sick if their food is contaminated, she asked if I wanted pita bread 😖 not sure how well their staff is trained. Because everything comes together I'd say the risk of contamination was quite high. As a Coeliac I would prefer to go to safer places next time, but if you have no allergies issues go ahead and enjoy the delicious food!
V.
So happy to have found this place! I ordered the vegetarian tagine (a stew like) with pita bread. OMG, their pita bread is delicious (5/5), the stew was ok (3/5). It is a big portion for one person but I ate it all
The 5 starts are thanks to Marcos, he is very nice and took the time to listened my needs and provide recommendations
They just have a new website to order delivery and pickup. If you do takeaway, they give you discounts and if you do delivery, they get 100% of the profits (not like the other services that takes a %). So, order from their website to support them!
My pictures are not the best but I assured you, it was delicious!
P. T.
We had great time in High Cafe, staff are super kind! Our Tagine was delicious - going really good with couscous. Americano with Orange Almond Cake for dessert 👌

Love this restaurant. It never disappoints! The variety and fresh flavours are are so good. Suits every one in the family. That's a great achievement. n

Delicious Moroccan cuisine at very inexpensive prices. The soup of the day is super tasty and only for 5.90€. The falafel and the chicken pasta are really tasty as well. The staff are very friendly and attentive. All the menu has the intolerances and the allergies listed too. Surely a place to repeat!
N. f.
In my Opinion this is the best restaurant in galway, thank you for the nice food Mustapha
J. H.
This place is awesome! Food is amazing and the staff were wonderful and really helpful. If I lived in Galway I'd be a regular!

So nice the girls gave us a 40 min slot at short notice on a busy night . fair play .and the pizza 🍕 was really very very good highly recommend will definitely go back

The perfect little place.. food incredible and service friendly and you can bring your own drink... coeliac friendly. Enjoyed every bit of the evening 😊

Had amazing food in there today had lovely seafood pasta and lamb Moroccan ..chef was brilliant, nice decor and food so tasty and will b back soon
L. P.
Super nice the two starters (falafel plate and garlic bread with feta and avocado) and very big portions. My boyfriend ordered beef burgers and I had vegetarian tajine. Very disappointed about my dish: overcooked boiled vegetables with few chickpeas and pickled artichokes. No flavours. Not at all like a real tajine. Maybe the one with meat is taster. We brought our own wine 'cause the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol.
Tot: 40€
Z. N.
Probably the best place to eat in Galway. Space is slightly small but food quality is really up to mark.
J. D.
Really tasty food and very well priced.
I had the special 2 courses and a drink to take away for €14 95 - opted for the chicken caeser salad starter (huge portion with really tasty marinaded chicken) and the prawn tagliatelle (€2 extra for fish dishes).
Also really friendly lad who took my order and made us feel very welcome whilst we waited for our food.
Will be back soon 😊
L. S.
Always great. Lovey food, great staff and BYO a real help when the bill arrives! Try it.
B. M.
Delicious food but took them ages to bring us ordered food today, and it was only 3 tables to serve at time.
A. f. C.
Cozy & small place in a second floor of the Spanish quarter. A surprise who those to look for a different place to stop for a meal. No alcohol drinks served here
P. O.
Used to go to HighCafé all the time when I used to live in Galway and miss it.
This Falafel plate was so delicious that I wanted to stay in Galway for an extra night so I could have it again the next day.
I got it made Vegan as well which was very handy.
D. L.
Such an amazing place to eat as they have food for anyone and everyone. Everything is incredible and it's nice going there and always trying something new. The staff are so friendly and willing to help you out with any questions you have. For takeaway or dine-in you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

We were group came from Limerick to visit Galway. We chose this restaurant because of the good reviews and the presentation of the food in the pictures and we don’t regret it at all. The moroccan food was delicious, we ordered mix grilled, chicken skewer, kofta, salad (so yum) chips and kuskus with a special treat (a herbal tea) and a great hospitality from Naseem who was so kind and generous with us.
My recommendation are: chicken marinated skewer, lamb marinated skewer and the tasty salad.
G. N. C.
Delicious food, huge portions, fantastic staff, and BYOB! Highly recommend the sweet lamb tagine and the sharing platter. Everything made to order and comes out sizzling. Pitta breads made in house, the Moroccan spicy chips are the best chips I've ever tasted! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone!
A. F.
Food was so good, tasty, and flavourful. We had a group of 13 and the staff were so kind, courteous,a accomodating. Great value for money, two courses (option) 19€ before 6pm. The staff were excellent, even let us bring us our leftovers in little boxes and brought out a cake for our friends birthday. They were so attentive and professional. Very impressed would definitely return . 11/10. I recommend the mozzarella garlic bread and chicken skewers!
H. M.
I had a nice Falafel and the staff are really amzing! However the lightning inside was not confortable for my eyes :( maybe bcz I just get out from a lasik surgery :p
M. M. S.
The food was delicious and the service was very kind. The ambience was also very nice and a good contrast to the city
R. B.
The meatball tagine was expensive for the extremely small serving and the margarita pizza was only OK. Getting the servers to return to the table to order dessert or bring the bill was next to impossible.

A real hidden treasure in Galway! Really i don't know from where to start! The place so atmospheric, the food amazing! You really can't imagine how much the waiter Marco helped us to make dishes to fit our alergies. He was so happy to help us like the shop was his shop. I didn't feel neither a second that he is bothered or annoyed even when we came late to ask for table they accomodate us without to think that is late and they want to go home. They stayed even longer so to finish our dinner. Overall an amazing experience although i don't use to try other kitchens apart european but everything were closed so we tried this one and i feel so lucky about that! Of course Marco's accomodation was an advantage to leave with the best impressions! Congratulations to Galway for this little Diamond and more congratulations to this restaurant for its employees, for their kindness, professionalism and accomodation.I use to try restaurants around Europe and i know very well that this is definitely not common!Thank you so much! ❤️

One of the best in Galway in my opinion . Food is alway fresh full of flavours. I always look forward ordering from you. Very well priced too *****
M. A. M.
Best food we had in our trip in Ireland so far. Could be a bit noisy when busy, still worth a visit
J. P.
Awesome place! Beautiful and reasonably-priced food. Cozy and lively, but not too noisy. Clean and efficient service. Had the sweet lamb tagine. The waitress Tylon was very friendly and professional. Highly recommended.
L. G.
Great to be back to the usual spot fabulous meal again Saturday night and the usual friendly staff as always
D. Q.
Lovely food. We just wanted a quick snack while out touring the city. I went for their version of chicken Cesar salad and was absolutely beautiful l. My partner had the skewers and wings combo again absolutely beautiful food. Well worth the visit and reasonably priced as well. Staff were also very friendly.
E. P.
Nice place and the waitress was very kind and thoughtful. The stuffed salmon salad was good and fresh. But my friend ordered vegetarian couscous. The taste was good but it was overcooked.
They also have 10% discount for students if your bill over €10.
E. L.
Food is excellent. Service was exceptional. My sister ordered the chicken skewers which came with 3 sauces, among them harissa. The waiter noticed how much we were enjoying it and brought over another side of it for the table to share without us even asking!
S. T.
This place had been recommended to us by locals so we decided to try it as a change from typical Irish fare. The food was delicious and plentiful. We ordered a dish of Moroccan Seafood paella which came in a generous sized paella pan enough for two people! My daughter had the Lamb Tagine with veg and beans and rice....again very tasty. The two young women who served us were efficient and very pleasant.
Α. Κ.
An amazing restaurant, with amazing food! Marco goes over and beyond of his job and he definitely loves what he is doing. Thanks a million for the best customer service and the amazing dishes!
m. s.
it is the perfect place to enjoy good food. every meal served was fresh and well prepared, exactly according to our orders. staff is very friendly and polite.
C. S.
The food here is amazing! Very, very tasty and the portion sizes are huge. The menu is great, there is a lovey variety to choose from and staff are nice and friendly. I would highly recommend this lovely cafe.

What a spot, lovely grub, great staff and a fab atmosphere
N. C.
I ordered last Wednesday for collection and the waiter Nassim was super helpful in reccomending the food. Loved the mixed grill and baked pasta!
C. M.
Just ordered fish skewersmeao with chicken rolls, and possibly one one of the nicest take aways to date, plenty of food and serving for one meal. Absolutely Class. 🤌,
S. B.
Another one of Galway's hidden gems. Excellent food in a lovely atmosphere and you can bring your own wine. Well worth a visit.
R.
Stopped here while in Galway and im real happy i did. Its tucked away between two other places but look for the steps going up. Kids ordered pepperoni pizza, my wife had lasagna and i had a grilled burger (best buger i have found in Ireland so far). Food was excellent and the service was great to. Huge portions. I would highly recommend
I. B.
Amazing food I really love this place friendly staff taste Mediterranean food very nice breakfast I came from London to galway for one week with my wife I loved this place I really enjoyed the food my wife she loved it too highly recommended 🇩🇿🇮🇪🇲🇦
L. C.
The Chai Latte and de garlic bread was absolutely amazing! I'll certainly come back!
K. B.
Top class food and service as always.
A. C.
I tried economy menu for around 19euro. Excellent value. Falafel starter tasty and generous. Lamb tagine very tender. A lot of couscous. I could not finish it. They don't serve alcohol. A glass of wine would have been nice with the meal, so I settled for green tea. Staff friendly and attentive which was appreciated as I was on my own.
s. s.
Really lovely restaurant, easily missed. Service was great and the food was amazing!! All cooked fresh so your guaranteed good food, wasnt too sure what to expect with them doing a variety of food but my goodness has to be some of the best food I've had yet with really good prices!
L. J.
Contemporary food with Moroccan/Mediterranean twist. Always amazed by combination of spices which bring out the flavour of every served dish. Try their tagine and Moroccan classics, you will feel like you are sitting in cafe around Marrakech market. Words are not able to describe it.
N. M.
Nice central restaurant, bring drinks from bar below as no acohil served. A good varied menu should suit all. Seafood platter was nice. Little chilly inside and it was pretty loud, maybe just the night I was there.
R. N. C.
Lovely food, BYOB, but service was slow between courses
I. M.
Delicious food and lovely staff. We booked ahead from Edinburgh for 25 persons and they accommodated us very well at 6pm before we went to the theatre. The tagines were mouth watering and the pizzas wonderful. Everything was cooked fresh and we would highly recommend HighCafe. We will be back. Thank you.
F. B.
Very pleasant and welcoming place. The food is exceptional and authentic and the staff is professional and ready to assist you at any time. Highly recommended!

Delicious food
T.
The food was top quality but brought out wrong twice with a party of 6. But seeing as we walked in on the 29th the shop was all over the place. 2 chefs on, 2 inexperienced waitresses. Grabted staff is hard to get or plan.... But then you need to seriously consider not taking tables to allow yourself to get back to normal. Which is what we could observe happened. Usually this place is on point and delivers every single time with super delicious and nutritious food. Just might want to keep in mind busy times, as they seem off trying to balance staffing. Otherwise? Amazing! Eat it and love it!
T. D. D. W. T.
We ate here twice, once for Brunch and another for dinner. It has easily become my favorite restaurant in Galway! The ingredients are fresh and the food ridiculously tasty. Great for vegetarians, too.
A. R.
We got delivery here and the food arrived one hour after we ordered, which was okay as it was Valentine's day and they are probably busy enough. The food was fantastic. I had a salad and the falafel plate and my boyfriend the veggie burger and we both absolutely loved it and it was great value for a relatively low price! The only thing that could be improved would be the desserts. We had two slices of cake, which came with ice cream, which we didn't know, we thought it was only the cake and didn't open the box as well. When we finally finished our mains and wanted to eat the dessert it was all melted. The ice cream should either be on the menu with the cake or it should be communicated with the delivery. Still: the cake was lovely but I would've enjoyed it more without the saucy vanilla creme.
G. V.
Fabulous food and a great variety. Comfortable and cosy. Love getting a window seat, ordering a sharing plate and watching the passers by. The chicken and lamb skewers are delicious. Falafel here is really good and the pizza is one of the best.
C.
Had heard a lot about this place as one of the few halal eateries in Galway. Tried it for the first time. For starters we had baked falafel & chicken fiesta which was 4 chicken wings & 2 chicken fillets on a skewer. The chicken was nice, but falafels really should not be baked. They need to be fried. The falafels disintegrated into a powdery mess & tasted more of lentils rather than of chickpeas. For mains, we had kofta kebabs which were a bit dry. The chicken penne pasta was nice & hot but could be served with a slice of garlic bread. The 2 pizzas were ok but the wooden platter they were served on smelt of stale grease. The wooden platters need to go. The only plus points were the freshly baked pitta bread & salad. 2 starters and 4 mains and 5 drinks came in at €95. Its a bit pricey, overrated.
S. C.
The High Café has a varied range of Italian and Moroccan food. The meals are delicious and generously portioned. I especially enjoy their fresh made bread. The service was friendly and efficient.
You might not spot the cafe immediately as its entry is just a doorway nestled between two pubs, but head up the stairs and you'll find a cosy space with some nice street views.
M. F.
I only got a tea here but the service was quick and with a smile! The area is decorated nicely and theres something quite cozy about it! The only downfall is the flight of stairs leading to it. The building is almost hidden and easy to overlook.
d. k.
I am a little disappointed to be honest. We have been going here for years and usually get the same thing. It was always byob. It still is but now you have to spend a min of 15 euro each before you can drink your own wine. It's a little ridiculous especially after raising there prices.
The food we usually get comes to around 13 or 14 so we were told we couldn't drink our wine unless we ordered more food.
It Will make me think twice about going again.
A. D.
Very friendly staff, patient with complicated orders. Nice interior design with cozy feeling to it.
Very delicious food (we had fish& chips, galway bay pizza and chicken tagine; all amazing and big portions).
Don't sell alcohol, but you can get some from a shop downstairs and bring it up to the dining area.
S. N.
Tagine was great. Veg friendly place. I just loved the pita bread there.
L. F. G.
Lovely place. High quality food and even better service. No doubt one of the best places in galway city to have dinner and drinks with friends.
Μ. Β.
Great experience and customer service! The food it was delicious and Marco helped us a lot to make the best decisions and to really enjoy our night out!Thank you very much!

Food is gorgeous, portions are huge and it is a BYO so you're not paying over the odds for drinks. Thoroughly recommended.
P. M.

Delicious good! A variety of vegetarian options. Friendly staff. Great service. Amazing! Get the Moroccan soup, garlic bread, or seafood skewers!
E. D.
The food was lovely but there was a crazy long wait for the food the last time I was there. I haven't been in in a few months though so hopefully it was was just an off day. The staff were really pleasant and helpful.
B. C.
VERY good food, nice place and superfast wifi ;-)
c. h.
Just after eating your scrumptious chicken & mushroom tagliatelle, absolutely divine. Also your house garlic bread is delicious.
D. R.
The physical appearance and menu suggests a run-of-the-mill cafe/restaurant. But I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. In particular, the chicken tagine was very good and it was accompanied by plenty of pita. Highly recommend.
A.
We stumbled here by accident after The Kings Head was full. So thankful it was, because this was easily the best meal we had thus far. The naan was so fresh and soft, I started to see new colors and hallucinate a little. I thought maybe I was high, but I've been high before and it wasn't as good as this meal. Maybe that's why its called the HighCafe.....I ordered the veggie garlic bread and was brought a personal pie that was heaven. The bananoffee cake, which was banana and toffee, blew the roof off of the place. highly reccommend.
j. k.
Great spot great food etc only problem I have is brought our own beer as don't drink wine and one was a particular beer person I was with can drink and we were not allowed use it. Bunch of grapes didn't sell that type. So that put a downside on the night. Otherwise great spot and will be back
L. O. R.
Staff incredibly friendly, will go out of their way to make customer feel welcome. Food very tasty and reasonably priced.
P. m. g.
One the nicest restaurants in Spanish quarter, portions were large & food delicious while price was very reasonable....spend €15 & u can bring ur own wine. Staff excellent & friendly
M. F.
A gem in Galway city centre. Amazing produce, prices & dishes. Bring your own wine policy. Staff are friendly, helpful and bright. Would highly recommend.
K. L.
Reasonable prices, great food and lovely atmosphere. It has a byob policy which is great. Staff were so friendly and let us sit and chat at our leisure. Definitely going there again.
D. R.
Delicious, and among the best value in Galway! Very friendly staff! In a premium tourist spot, without tourist premium prices. I'm not a tourist, and I know the best places in Galway and eat here regularly.

Food is good,ambiance is good

It was a first time we went there and we were positively surprised about the place.
The restaurant is small and busy so its good to book a table in advance.
Very interesting menu with wide choice of dishes.
I will come back.
A. H. V.
Very unique different food if you interested to try something new. Good service. Delicious big portions. But little expensive.
M. H.
Really good food at amazing prices. It is also open for late sittings and has a nice relaxed atmosphere! Would definitely recommend, the food is delicious with large portions. Super!!
D. K.
Lovely food with vegan options with good value for money. You can also bring your own bottle it's in a great location so perfect for a night out.
R. B.
Keep going back to this cosy little cafe. Found it one evening with some French friends, we were looking for something healthy and filling but that wouldn't hit our pockets too hard! And we found it.
The garlic breads are the business, particularly the one with roast veggies and cheese. Filling, tasty and very well priced.
The kitchen is open when you go up stairs so you can see what;s going on (always a sign of confidence in the chefs when you can do that!).
There are steep steps up so might not suit everyone and that means it isn't wheelchair accessible but this is a small location that is making use of a preexisting spot. Also have had the pizza, chowder and tagine. The falafel is a bit dry but impress with their food non the less.
d. d.
Excellent hidden gem in Galway city. Good food, provides value for money.
E. R.
Great food and extremely friendly staff. Would recommend for delivery for evening food

This place has outstanding Moroccan cuisine. The ambiance is cozy and staff very friendly and helpful. Love the tagine and the starters never disappoint. They have merged a great middle Eastern menu along with some great Galway seafood as well so you may enjoy some specialities like paella to fish and chips (highly recommended). Great treat for the whole family. Only down side is the small entrance that you need to identify to go upstairs to enjoy everything above. Will definitely be going back coz I still need to try everything on the desert menu.

(Translated) The Cp value is high, but I was dining alone at the time, and I hope the staff can remind me that there are many portions. I ordered a large bowl of rice by myself, and I didn't want to pack it ... but it was delicious and it was real.

Cp值高,但是我當時一個人用餐,希望店員可以提醒我份量很多。我一個人點了臉盆大的飯,而且我不想要打包...但很好吃是真的。

(Translated) Are due to the good reviews and the photos of the menus there. Obviously, however, the owner has changed in the meantime, so that the focus is now more on Moroccan food. Of course, there are still fish, which is also absolutely necessary for the port city, but that is very much under.
The toilets are more than small, a bit more corpulent guests have problems here.
We had a burger and pasta with salmon, both dishes were ok, the pasta would have been good with two servings.
The restaurant is located right in the pedestrian area, but is still hard to find, only a small stand out indicates.
Unfortunately, only three stars, because we had all in all more promised ....

(Translated) The treatment was excellent and the quality and quantity of the food as well. Moroccan food is 100% authentic as the owner is from Morocco. We had harira, lamb tajin and kefta tajin and it was all delicious!

El trato fue excelente y la calidad y cantidad de la comida también. La comida marroquí es 100% auténtica ya que el dueño es de Marruecos. Nosotros comimos harira, tajin de cordero y tajin de kefta y todo estaba delicioso!

(Translated) We ordered lasagna and it is 3+ and pene chicken (chicken with pasta and cream sauce) at 5. The interior is simple, cooked quickly, the place is noisy.

Заказывали лазанью и она на 3+ и pene chicken (куриное филе с макаронами и сливочным соусом) на 5. Интерьер простенький, готовят быстро, место шумное.

(Translated) Nice and quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
Delicious food at fair prices.
Somewhat complicated is the beverage procurement.
Still water is available free of charge at the table, heat drinks are also available in the restaurant.
Other drinks have to be brought to the pub on the ground floor.
But it is completely uncomplicated and also there the prices are completely ok.
(Original)

The service was top, the dishes were delicious and plentiful, the pita bread to die for and the waitress who looked after us was super friendly and attentive, to do it again!

(Translated) Soup menu + sandwich + coffee / tea very good, € 9. The only thing is that they take a while to serve and the soup was very spicy. But to eat it seems very suitable.
(Original)
Menú sopa + sandwich + café/tea muy bueno, 9€. Lo único es que tardan un poco en servir y la sopa era muy picante. Pero para comer me parece muy adecuado.
