I absolutely love Kai! We visited Kai about 3 years ago and this time it was even better than we remembered. The food is outstanding, delicious and locally sourced. Priced reasonably, but to be honest compering with other similar place in Galway, food and service in Kai was so much higher ended.
Fantastic staff, invisible but always available. Vegan and vegetarian options on the menu were available too.

We went to Kai twice in 2 weeks for lunch. We had to wait about 30-40min each time but it was well worth the wait. The service was extremely fast and attentive. The menu changes daily. We tasted each other's meals and I'm convinced you could order anything on the menu and have a great experience. This is a exciting restaurant and my favourite in Galway so far.

Absolutely incredible.
Here's what we ordered.
Starters
Inis mor crab celeriac
Parsnip skordalia, Janet's beets, walnut picada
Mains
Striploin, purpletta butter, Hungarian hot wax
Rossaveal hake, surf clams, crazy water and aioli
Dessert
Ricotta & fig ice-cream, milk crumb
Spiced apple sorbet, butterscotch.
This is a lovely little cosy restaurant tucked away in Galway city and a Michelin Star winner to boot. The staff are helpful and very professional in the friendliest of ways as I had questions about the brandy I had at the end. The food is served in good portions, colourful with a myriad of flavours. You never want it to end. The Highbank Organic Apple Brandy is incredible. For me it's better than Calvados Chateau de Breil. Smoother with a syrupy like texture and a little sweeter. Definitely worth a visit here if you are looking for something special.

A waitress in Dublin recommended this cafe to me and I was glad to stop by whilst in Galway. Without a breakfast menu, I was more than happy to settle with an amazing peace of cake to start the day. Smooth coffee and super friendly service. The cafe itself is super homely and was amazingly decorated. Didn’t have enough time in town to come back and try and meal but I will return!

A beautiful restaurant, the service and the decorations are excellent. The food is homemade and fresh. You will be delighted by their desserts. It is a bit away from city centre but it is worth it.
L. H.
One of the best restaurant experiences in Ireland, hands down. Simple, surprising, delicious, locally sourced ingredients served up in a cosy unpretentious space by lovely people.
D. H.
The food is second to none!!! Everyone is so friendly. The flavours are to die for. Will definitely be going back soon.

Great service, great food, this place is genuinely my fav rest in Galway. Must go to place if you like flavor.

Seriously tasty Sunday Brunch at Kai. Opens at 12, queue formed from about 11:20 but was minimal after first sitting.
T. D. K.
It's terrific, consistent, enjoyable, professional, casual and friendly.
Always helpful, and hates to turn away people.
The food is innovative and of high quality. The menu changes reasonably often and the service is good. Love it.
S. K.
Excellent food and service.
Great recommendations from the staff of both food and wine/beer/cocktail pairings.
Highly recommend

My favourite place in Galway to eat lunch. Delicious food. The cakes are amazing. The staff are very helpful and service is excellent. They don't have baby changing facilities but offered an alternative space for me to change my baby and made ample buggy space

No words will do this place justice. Unbelievable food, fab wine, and lovely staff. If there's nothing on the menu that you fancy, just try something as it's all unreal! Highly reccomend.
N. E.
Amazing experience. The food was so delicious and fresh combined with artistic touches. It is relatively a small restaurant therefore I highly recommend in advance reservations otherwise no chance to find a table. They got Michelin star this year - well deserved. While you are there definitely try chocolate & whiskey & almond pudding.
A. E.
absolutely fantastic. would give 6 stars. only 5 items on the menu and tried all 5. i didn't know what I was eating, but not one disappointed! service super friendly and atmosphere super cozy.

Never written a Google review before but I felt compelled to write one for this place. I went to Kai for brunch with a friend of mine because of the other good reviews I had read, and because I have a friend from New Zealand who I figured would want to know how it was.
We arrived to find it completely full with a queue of people waiting to get in running out the door. I had second thoughts but decided to stick it out and wait about 35 minutes for a table, it was absolutely worth the wait. Despite how busy they were the servers were incredibly cheery, friendly, and helpful, and the meal I had might honestly be the best brunch I've ever eaten. I'm not usually a fan of cold seafood but you can tell the chef knows what she's doing when pairing flavours, the crab and avocado mash was amazingly seasoned and their cakes were just as good! Me and my friend were talking about how good it was for the rest of the day.
I want to make the trip up to Galway again just to try out their dinner menu!

Eleven Madison Park, which has won three Michelin stars and is one of New York’s top fine-dining restaurants, recently abandoned meat in favour of a plant-based menu after its chef and owner realised the modern food system was “simply not sustainable”. If there is one restaurant in Galway which could pull this off without alienating a single customer it is Kai. It is a lovely restaurant: our favourite. The staff are professional, but warm with it. And their plant-based offerings are simply incredible: we've yet to have a bad meal here since switching to a vegan diet and lifestyle 4 years ago.

Best desserts in Galway!! Even if you're not a "dessert" person I dare you to walk past their gorgeous dessert bar and not order anything. FYI, they always seem to always include a gluten free option. All the menu items emphasize local produce. Entrees are a little spendy, but always delicious. The dining room is usually a bit crowded, but it has one of the best restaurant interiors I've ever seen. It has home-canned veggies, original art, and a rustic skylight all put together seamlessly. It feels cultured, authentic, and utilitarian all at once. And the service is always attentive and personable.
R. S.
The food was great! The ambience was great too. Also, they insist we put the face masks on when not eating, just as a precaution. ( I don't see a problem there)
Overall, a must visit 😊
A. B.
The best meal we have had on our holiday! Very friendly staff and great coffee. I would love to go back to this Maori inspired neighbourhood gem.
M. W.
Lives up to all of the hype. Beautifully decorated and laid out so feels very intimate.
Great coffee, delish hake fish fingers & a really interesting menu

Stumbled across the restaurant during a stroll through Galway. Google said it was closed but they had JUST switched to spring/summer hours where they are open 7 days a week. We got a table right away at 630 and the place wasn’t busy at all until we left around 830. Food was exceptional!

Another amazing meal, never disappoints . Breathtaking views. A must if you have never been.
M. B.
I love kai. I have only been there for brunch, but it’s great value and by far the best spot in Galway. Make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes early because there is usually a q on Sundays. Meals are usually 10-15 euros and coffee is around 3. The menu always changes, but as long as you’re not too picky of an eater there will be something you’ll like. Oh and the cakes... so good and so much selection. They have plenty of gf options as well :)
M. F.
Most memorable meal in Ireland. Review given 3 years later. worth waiting for the 9pm reservation
K. M.
My husband and I ate here on a recommendation from someone we met at a pub. But this place.....BEST meal we had during our 9 day trip around Ireland! My husband said the pork chop was the best he has ever had! And we ended up eating two desserts! We will be going back here any chance we get!
L. F.
Beatifull food with balanced flavours. Thumbs up for local and seasonal ingredients, washable cloth napkins and flower decoration. One negative for me, it was difficult to read the menu, because of the font and vague names of food. The name of food consists of few ingredients with no description, so i didnt know what to expect. Stuff is friendly though, so they will help you to understand, although you cant ask them for every course on the menu.

Everybody is talking about Kai, it was recommended to me by locals and I saw it featured in the Irish Times Food Magazine. I called first as it says you need to make a reservation but I was told that I didn't need to for lunch. My lunch consisted of monkfish laksa and a pistachio cake. Both tasted delicious. The monkfish melted in the mouth and the sauce was creamy and lightly spiced. Nice crunch from the broad beans and subtle smokiness from the charred pak coi. The dish also came with a slice of focaccia. Nice as it was, I couldn't finish it because the laksa was very filling.
The pistachio cake was very dense and topped with a thick lemony custard, I didn't manage to finish that either as I was too full! Because so many people raved about the cakes I wanted to give it a try.
There are a few meat, fish and vegetarian choices on the lunch menu. I got the impression from glancing at nearby tables that customers order their favourites every time - anything deep fried seemed to be the most popular! Now I understand why Kai Restaurant received a Michelin Bib: the food is modern and inventive.
M.
It's a restaurant with potential but unfortunately lack in several things. Flavour was good, presentation in terms of textures and colours, and combination on some of the ingredients was doubtly correct(clamp soup with mayonnaise 🙄... that was far away alioli which neither will match). Staff offers you a fair service but one of the waitress was coughing badly around, even removing the mask sometimes, which made a joke the checking of the vaccine code (with the times we are running, even a simple cold could rest at home in sign of respect to the clients).
J. M.
Best food with best ingredients. You can see the all plates are make with love and passion. The atmosphere is very relaxed thanks for the all staff around the place. Fantastic
A. T.
Really lovely little place, small menu on the blackboard changes daily. We went there for lunch and had one of the best salade Niçoise I've tasted, with local crab. My companion had the fish pie which was also outstanding.
A. S.
Beautiful interior, casual but classy. The food was delicious and large portions. Staff were super friendly. I would recommend it to anyone
C. S.
Wow. Stunning food with a great focus on local. Went for Sunday brunch and got a table after a short wait. It was no standard brunch. Beautiful pairings of flavours, everything cooked to perfection
f. b.
Different eating experience in a quirky restaurant. Menu offering a varied choice to tempt the palate. Pleasant friendly service. Well worth a visit.
C. B.
Nice spot, worth the walk. Delicious food. Staff were friendly. Made 2 visits for lunch, both times the restaurant was full.
V. V.
Great customer service, delicious coffee, quiet, suiting ambience, and pastry is as surprising and as delicious as it looks. An absolute must stop for breakfast 😍 (and dinner w/t reservation 😋)
M. O.
One of the best in Ireland, let alone Galway
L. P.
Food presentation and atmosphere really nice.. unfortunately I got really sick during my dinner (clearly for the clams or the fish) in the bathroom of the restaurant and they didn't even give us a discount or at least say sorry for the inconvenience. Very unprofessional
S. H.
Fabulous lunch! So many dessert options to choose from. Everything was fresh and delicious. Loved the rustic ambiance and decor. One of the nicest restaurants I've been to in Ireland.
A. O.
Was there for lunch. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, generous portions. Highly recommend.
Z. Y.
The best dining experience in our trip! Warm little place with extraordinary dishes! Too bad we don't have time for dessert, definitely coming back next time!
B. Y.
We went here for lunch; Could not have been better. Amazing food, great friendly and punctual service (see photo), nice ambiance. Everything just outstanding. Oh yeah, free water was already on the table when we arrives, 2 lunches & 2 coffee only €30 for such a creative and tasteful meal with all genuine and local ingredients, don’t understand why Google rates it as €€€?. Wish I’d have a place like this in Amsterdam.
C. H.
The most amazing lunch I have ever had. Such a treat to get to visit.
L.
My mom and I enjoyed a very unique and delicious dinner here. Local food with something for everyone. Great for people with a little sense of adventure. We loved it!
S. L.
Stopped in here for lunch and I’m glad we did because it’s the best food we had while in Ireland. It was so good we tried to go back for dinner the next day but they were booked through 9PM (it was a weekend). Get a reservation to be safe, but don’t miss this restaurant.
c. o.
Superb! Wonderful cakes and coffee. Main menu looks divine. Don't mind living here forever...
C. K.
It's open in the morning for coffee and cakes only and no breakfast is served (They start the lunch menu at midday). However what was on offer in the pastries and coffee was really good.
J. G.
It's been over two weeks since I was last in Kai and my mouth is watering now just thinking of the wonderful lamb chop dinner we had :)
Kai has never disappointed!
S. G.
Very good service. The food was very good. The meat perfectly cooked.. The chef always plays nicely with the flavors.
J. F.
Great food and very reasonable considering the quality. Very good service
E. O.
The millet cakes were delicious and although I was stuffed I couldn't resist having the key lime pie which was amazing.
J. D.
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Galway - excellent, fresh and super tasty food, amazing interior and oh, the cakes - to die for! I love KAi and I've been dinning there for years - not once I was disappointed. Highly recommended!
M. M. n.
Food very nice. Portions small. I actually came home from dinner and had to eat ☺️. Limited choice in menu. But what I got was very nice.
J. J.
Great restaurant, cozy, comfortable and tasty
F. B.
Delicious food and wine, friendly staff and reasonably priced for the quality you're getting. Nice and cozy place for dinner for two or small groups.
T. H.
Gorgeous lunch 😋. Food delish as always and staff wonderful. Great to see Kai back in action
M. H.
Wonderful place! I had one of the best carrot cake I ever had! Place and staff just great!
S. C.
We really enjoyed the breakfast at Kai restaurant. Delicious cakes and magic atmosphere.
c. v.
Great decor, nice service, good cocktails! Portion size is a little big to have the 3 courses, I would recommend the crab dish and the monk fish. The burrata was a little dry, but loved the celeriac!
D. C.
Awesome food, staff and atmosphere at an incredible price. If you're in Galway, don't miss it!
K. K.
Fantastic food and they worked around my food intolerances without any problem.
E. H. F.
THE place to visit for lunch or dinner when in Galway. Exceptional food in a relaxed, cosy atmosphere
G. L.
Best lunch in town undoubtedly, service is always top notch too!
E. G.
Wonderful atmosphere and unique menu items. Wait staff was excellent. If you're looking for a cozy place to have a special dinner, this is a great spot.

Amazing food experience ... a beautiful collision of flavours in a cool setting.

Romantic restaurant tucked away in Gallway. Outstanding chef and beautiful meal.
M. O.
Love this place. One of the top spots in Galway. The coffee is great and the selection of cakes is to die for. Staff are lovely and look after your oh so well. Can't wait to go back!
C. W.
Kai has one of the best and most exciting lunch menus in Galway. It always changes and I've never once been let down. The only bad thing about Kai is that its so hard to choose what to order!
J. M.
A great place frequented by locals.
We were pleasantly greeted and offered a table while we waited for the lunch menu to be posted in twenty minutes. But we had no idea that it was only on a blackboard on the wall around the corner.
A snooty fellow arrived and was irritated when we weren't ready to order, having no idea what was on the menu.
We had unconventional pork and pear tacos which were served in a mound on a bed of tortillas - amazing.
The remaining service was good.
M. L.
Great quality of food. Fresh and based on what's in season. Menu is written very fancy and had to ask the waitress to explain what each thing was;) definitely worth a visit.
M. G.
Great cafe for lunch - best salad accompaniments anywhere!
C. D.
Had the crab and it was really good. Very fresh ingredients and friendly staff
M. K.
Prob one the best restaurants I've ever been too. Food is tasty and fresh. And staff could not be friendlier and more helpful. Love it.
M. D.
Absolutely excellent food. The flavours, the quality all in keeping with its well deserved reputation. You must book certainly for dinner and even for lunch too... Cakes are particularly outstanding. Lovely staff warm and welcoming.
m. p.
Had the bananas fosters pancakes....yes! And the steak and poached eggs were pretty good too.
M. M.
Delicious food in an incredible atmosphere! If you like meat, you should try " Eamon's Venison"!!! Enjoy it!!
R. V.
I'd say my favorite restaurant in Galway. The quality of the food is incredible. Everything is well presented in good amount and very well prepared. The restaurant inside looks very nice and cozy. I would only point that I felt very hot when in there, but could have been the day. I certainly intend to come back for future occasions!
J. K.
Lovely place. Really enjoyed the fish.
K. G.
My wife and I had a lovely meal in Kai this evening. The menu was great full of stuff we've never tried but also some steak and lamb if you didn't feel adventurous.
It's a nice sized restaurant with the tables nicely spread to give you space and three people on this occasion serving. This meant they spent plenty of time with us explaining the menu.
Overall it was a really pleasant meal and we are looking forward to our next meal. Also they do a lovely lunch menu too.
N. O.
Had our wedding Anniversary here on 17th July 2020..
From the minute we arrived we were happy to see staff wearing masks and adhering to the Covid 19 guidelines
Felt very safe
Fantastic food with an eclectic mix of flavours and textures.
Overall experience was amazing.
R. K.
Absolutely excellent food. The flavours, the quality all in keeping with its well deserved reputation. You must book certainly for dinner and even for lunch too... Cakes are particularly outstanding. Lovely staff warm and welcoming.

Very good restrent. It also recommend by Michelin on year 2017 .

I discovered Kai about a year ago and have returned quite a few times since. I have had lunch, coffees, cake and dinner. Service is friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Everything has been outstanding, dinner can be expensive but delicious and worth it. However, lunch is a bargain, always really tasty and very good value. The cakes are utterly amazing but genuinely too much for one person, and we are not lightweights!!!
S. R.
Dropped into Kai twice now and the food was fantastic! The second time being on Valentines evening as a last minute meal with a friend (forgetting it was Valentines day! So it was quite busy!) and the hostess was so accommodating over the phone and when we arrived on fitting us in! Cannot recommend Kai enough, worth evert cent! :)
C. M.
Perfection. Each dish prepared with attention to detail. Quality is of the finest restaurant with a casual farm to table comfortable feeling and very reasonable prices for the entire experience. (Not inexpensive, but well worth what you pay.) Staff is friendly and very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Wine and cocktail offerings most satisfactory. On a busy night, service was prompt but never rushed. Highly recommended.
G. B.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and great food (try the starter with mozzarella and pumpkin if it's on - amazing!). The menu only has a few choices, but it's still really hard to decide what to order as everything sounds so good. Definitely recommended.
N. O.
Excellent food and well worth the 15 minute wait for a table. Paid €13 for a lovingly prepared lunch main. Given the quality of the dish this was more than reasonable. Dinner mains run around €25. The desserts looked to die for. Friendly and casual atmosphere. Good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian food. Could not recommend more highly.
P. H.
Great atmosphere and the menu changes daily with food option to suit all food types. Vegan Vegetarian Meat Eaters.
K. H.
My husband and I made reservations for supper here after a local from Dublin told us it was a must when going to Galway. We were so happy that we went! Food is absolutely delicious. We wanted everything on the menu. Ingredients were so fresh and dishes so we'll balanced. Truly a must!!
H. N.
Excellent food - one of our favourites in Galway. My parents in law love it, too. Each time they come over from London we have to go there. Hopefully Covid-19 restrictions are soon over.
O. L.
Incredible food, staff and environment! The food here is very special and is complimented by a very welcoming atmosphere. They were so accomodating with dietary requirements and have brilliant vegan options on the menu as a standard.
C.
Absolutely love this restaurant! The layout of the place, the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff all added to my amazing experience in this restaurant. I would absolutely love to have dinner here sometime (although it is a little on the expensive side) but well worth it as most of the produce is organic!! Healthiest of the healthiest food, that I know I'll always feel good after eating, that's why I don't mind paying a little extra. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants healthy, organic, feel good food with a great service and atmosphere to go along with it :) :) :) 10 out of 10
M. P.
Love this little cafe. Great scones and coffee, but at the time I was there, early in the morning breakfast wasn't serve yet. Overall pleasant experience.
D. O.
Great seasonal food, lovely atmosphere
a. h.
5 of us had a fantastic lunch here, we were seated straight away the food was quick and delicious and the restaurant is quirky and beautiful. Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the area. We loved it! Also. The cakes. 11/10
E. H.
Great service. very friendly staff, great menu.
The first time I went to Kai, I went the next day again before leaving Galway
E. D.
Can't state enough how gorgeous this place is, the buttermilk pancakes were pretty much a religious experience. Beautiful interior and a big emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. This was the best breakfast I've had anywhere in Ireland, and I was shocked at how reasonable it was given the quality of the meal. We were lucky to get the last table before breakfast finished but I'd definitely advise booking beforehand.
S. D.
We were told this is the place to go if you are here in Galway City. First impression it was quaint and quite busy. We could only get the 9 o'clock sitting. Don't try and joke with the pretty red head waitress, no sense of humor. Also, since I am from Canada I was not familiar with some of the ingredients on the menu. They don't allow any deviations from what they have to offer that day. Apparently the menu can change daily. Even though our Red head waitress asked if we had any questions...don't bother asking it was too much of an effort. Gave up just hoped for the best and ordered. Generally with that type of attitude would have walked out. But it was 9 and we were all hungry. Food was plated lovely but a bit heavy on the salt. Our Red head waitress must of passed us on to someone else to take care of our table but at least he was friendlier and had a smile. Dessert was tasty and enjoyed I the Espresso served with fudge. We visited on June 27th, 2019. Good luck if you make a reservation here.
C. M.
Really nice food, great quality & excellent presentation. I ordered the hake goujans which came with lovely brown bread & side salad - really tasty and filling!
P. T.
Very unique and enjoyable place to luncheon. Thoughtful and well executed fusion menu, with friendly, informal but very professional service. Top drawer. No wonder we had to queue for 30 mins (something we don't normally do) at 11:45 on a Monday morning!
P. B.
One of the best spots for lunch in Galway 😍
M. M.
Delightful, welcoming. This place has a deservedly high reputation. Atmosphere tremendous; you may - as we did - have to wait awhile. But Kai is worth the wait. The food offering is fantastic, imaginative, eclectic. Take a bow, Jess Murphy and crew
M. K.
Beautiful food and wonderful service. 5/5
J. O.
It's such a treat to stop by Kai for lunch. The food is exquisite and the desserts delectable. Even if I don't have time to stop in for lunch, I love popping in for some of their divine brown bread or scones that you can buy from over the counter. A really Galway gem!
A. K.
It was the best decision to follow the recommendation of my host to go to Kai. I was lucky enough to get a table without reservation and dived into this warm and welcoming atmosphere. The dinner was delicious and on point. I enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks for this perfect end of the day!
j. j.
My favourite place to eat lunch or their amazing Sunday brunch. They create new menus daily offering the tastiest most creative dishes from seasonal food. Great for vegetarians and vegans but mostly great for everyone!
I. O.
A great spot for brunch or dinner. Creative menus with wonderful variety of ingredients and flavor. Genuinely exciting food experience. The people working are great, the place is relaxed and comfortable. Top Marks.
I. W.
One of my favorite restaurants in Ireland so far. The flavor, the colors, everything was so balanced. The food was fantastic with great value. We had steak, potatos and eggs, and grilled peach pancakes with peach cream. 😋 the restaurant was lit with natural light with cozy and homey decor. Loved every moment at Kai. Note that because its such a popular restaurant, there was a line before the restarant even open, at noon, on the Sunday I visited. Definitely recommend to get there before noon to secure a spot or wait till the second round of service, around 1pm.
R. A.
Amazing fish, cute rustic interior.
J. H.
Fantastic creative lunch dishes. Light fare made for a great lunch. Get there around noon... The place will be full by 12:30 and a line by 1.
We had the Connemara smoked mackerel salad and the quiche. Both were awesome and reasonably priced!
N. M.
Heard a lot of positive things about Kai and it didn’t disappoint. I had a Malayan Bowl with beans, hummus, greens and more. Loads of flavour, a really good hearty lunch. Great value and will be back, worth the wait as you’ll likely have to queue for a table.
S. T.
We had an amazing dinner here! They change the menu everyday and use the freshest ingredients. I had a tomato and ricotta appetizer and lamp chops for my main course - both were outstanding. The Pavlova dessert may have been the best dessert I have ever had - with Lemon curd and Alpine strawberries - the light Pavlova was incredible. The staff was very personable and the quirky decor made the meal even more enjoyable.
A. T.
Excellent service from very friendly staff. The food is unbelievably good, with a menu to suit varying tastes. The restaurant has remained fresh over the years with great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
L. R.
Not for everyone, really nice small intimate place for a bite to eat. Quirky and more of an healthy option.
R. N.
The food was prepared really well. Great service. The butter and bread that comes with the table was perfect for the season. I had the pork katsu was really good and I had never had it before without the Tonkatsu sauce. It went really well with the yellow beets and the mashed potatoes. The seasoning on the beading was also well done. I tired my friends mussles and the broth was great even though it was a bit on the salty side. I thought everything I tried here complemented each other well. Nothing was overcooked or badly prepared.
K. M.
Best breakfast in Galway! We had a lovely meal here and the atmosphere is fantastic. Great service and a wonderful experience while in Galway
S. K.
Staff is very nice, great location. My steak was too rare today, but otherwise food mostly is great. We go here every Sunday when we're in town, it's now our tradition. We love Kai. 😃👌
J.
I've only eaten in Kai twice.
The first time I drove from Dublin to have brunch and it was different and excellent.
Today, while coming back from Mayo we went out of our way again.
Walked in, explained I needed two take away lunches, gf & df. I was brought straight up to the hatch where the chef explained what she could do.
Very professional staff, food is unquestionably the 'best in the west', selection of freshly made desserts were outstanding.
It's well worth the trip and I'll make it again.
R. F.
I'm still thinking of that rabbit schnitzel. Great food, great service, great setting. We didn't have reservations (which are a must), but we strolled in at 630pm and they were kind enough to seat us so long as we were out by 800pm (but we were there later and no issues). All this at a very reasonable price. Ardbia at Nimmos and Kai Restaurant are two of the best of the best in Galway. Go here.
M. S.
I would give it 10000 stars.
This is the best restaurant I have ever been to.
SO cosy, with the most delicious, quality food you will ever eat.
I go there every Sunday and every time, it is getting better:)
M. H.
Great service, varied and fantastic food menu, a little pricey but worth it.
Had lunch, coffees and cakes. All were great and portions were big. Fresh and top quality ingredients.
Premises and setting are great, the skylight makes it feel almost outdoors! Decor is unique and well put together. All in all highly recommended!
R. E.
Booked new years eve dinner here with no idea what would be on the menu and we were not disappointed at all. Both the hake and the pheasant schnitzel were absolutely delicious. Desserts were to die for although the pavlova was HUGE! I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!
a. q.
Lovely food 3 ingredients all balanced perfectly. Great wine list and well social distancing .Some of best food had in a long time
R. B.
Didn't hit the mark for us. Long wait from ordering, one server didn't make us feel welcome and food didn't match the hype. Seems really popular though so fair play to them, hard please everyone.
A. L.
One of the loveliest places to go in Galway. Staff are hit and miss and can be rude and not accommodating. Would give a 5 but for the staff they get a 4. Be humble ;)
G. I.
Simply one of the most delicious places to eat in Galway. The staff are helpful and efficient, and the food sublime. The menu, although restricted, is always of the highest quality. Trust these guys - they'll make all the right choices, day-to-day, on your behalf. Their baked goods are fantastic too - cakes and bread - don't forget to bring some home!

Reasonably priced, but I must have ordered badly as my smoked mackerel was indistinguishable from supermarket fare. Unenthusiastic service. It was only lunch, but lacked any sense of occasion, a bit like a sandwich bar. Chocolate Tart was exceptional however and an indicator of how good Kai can be. Overall, not what I was expecting from this well regarded establishment. Could try harder!
A. O.
Best brunch in Kai to date, worth the journey. Beautiful fresh crab, fresh salads, delicious sourdough, and a better than ever Kai fry. Cakes were out of this world-style & substance! Sibeal, our waitress, was lovely, couldn't do enough for us- service was fast, friendly and efficient.
M.
Fabulous lunch in Kai on Tuesday afternoon. We enjoyed Hake Goujons and Butter Chicken followed by a Coconut Cake with Buttercream Icjng. Excellent service, very busy, lovely atmosphere.
G. S.
Finally a combination of good atmosphere with good food, truly an example for the Irish hospitality industry. The entire experience is positive from the cocktails to the dessert. Well throughout menu. Will not disappoint whether you are eating alone or with friends/family.
J. D.
Excellent restaurant, I had lunch. Wonderful food, good service. Can't comment on the wine but will give that more attention on my next visit. Well done!
A. B.
Cute place with amazing food. Still not entirely sure what was in my dishes, bit the flavor and texture combinations were soooo good! Super friendly waitress too, who gave us several tips about places to go in galway!
J. O.
Menu relies a on bread, fried or smoked fish, veggies, mayonnaise. In Galway I was expecting some good fresh fish. Didn't find it in here. It kinda felt like cheap fish packaged as moderne cuisine mixed with some organic veggies. I liked the veggies tough. But won't go back.
C. L.
High end place with excellent food in an unfussy setting. The menu changes a lot as they use seasonal ingredients and are always putting something new and exciting on the menu. The place itself is cosy with great light from the skylights and the staff are relaxed and very friendly.
R. R.
Great spot , good ambiance. Wish they had more vegetarian options though as the lentil kofta was awesome
Á. C.
The food was amazing (omg the venison) and the staff super friendly and gave us the right recommendations. The interior is small (make a reservation before going) and quite cozy.
S. L.
Stumbled upon this place completely randomly. There's so much aroha in this restaurant, excellent use of the local produce that is prepared humbly with a contemporary twist. For one evening, on the opposite side of the glob, I felt like I was back home.
The wine list is absolutely banging as well!
Ka Pai!
K. O.
Such a gorgeous spot with lovely vibes. Have always had amazing food and coffee here. I would highly recommend.
L. D.
lovely details and thoughtful delicious food
F. K.
What can I say.... bang on! Beautiful food, service, charm - just a winner all round. A must go if you're in Galway. Leaders in their game. Jess & Dave are awesome hosts and this rubs off on all their staff. Class! Ireland needs more of this. Well done.
p. g.
Great food, beautiful cakes and good coffee with lovely, friendly and very helpful service. Was here for Saturday lunch and went back on Sunday (which was a great decision: one of the best brunches I've had, Ireland or UK).
E. K.
If there is one café or restaurant you can not leave Galway without trying, it is without a doubt Kai. Very cozy, and eclectic with brilliant service. And of course their food is class, flavoursome, fresh locally sourced produce...they serve the best of Ireland on a plate! Oh and don't get me started on their cakes, unreal!! There is real passion and talent in Kai's kitchen.

Absolutely delicious food. I went for brunch and it is not hyperbole to say that I had the best sandwich of my life there (the kim-cheesy).
M. L.
Amazing food, wonderful service, and ambiance to match. Green Goddess soup was phenomenal. The fish fingers were delicious as well. kid friendly for lunch.
S. D.
Best restaurant in town!
Even though the food is just incredible the personal makes you feel at home and the atmosphere is comfortable. Also- whoever makes those playlists- thank you! Yesterday was lovely
C. C.
Really enjoyed it AGAIN tonight...my wife loves the places....there Lunchs are also great...especially the crab dish...mmmmm
A. M.
The most delicious lunch I've had in.. I actually can't think of a more delicious one! Crab salad 😍 and the waiting staff are wonderful too.. Just wish I had time to stay for cake! Next time.. 😊
S. L.
Lovely restaurant, we just went for early breakfast but they do so cooled food until 12. The pastries were nice, but my almond cappuccino was bitter, not sure it was the coffee as my husband s cappuccino was fine.
A. B.
This was recommended to us in Ennis on our travels and did not disappoint. Service was excellent, friendly and welcoming, food was unique with awesome combination of flavours. Highly recommend
P. L.
One of the best meals I had in Ireland, and one I remember even years later. Beautiful colors and flavors in a distinctly Irish setting--it really set the mood for our trip.
I. O. S.
I enjoyed my evening at Kai very much. Warm welcome, cosy and chic. The food is superb, great attention to detail and loads of flavours and creativity. The crab is otherworldly!
G. S. P. (.
Really tasty food, well presented almost rustic I like it small so book in advance good bottle beer selection. Good lunch options
M. R.
Excellent food. Really nice lunch menu, different from typical sandwich and soup. I had fish bites and we're delicious 👍 have recommended to friends.
J. L.
Fish pie was amazing!
D. A. M.
Excellent rustic food on the hearty side. Lots of international influences. Small but very well organised and interesting space with rough sawn wood and stone and a huge skylight. The menu changes daily emphasizing fresh and local ingredients. Hard to find but worth the search.
E. D.
Update on rating! 2-3 stars! Went for brunch and it was pretty bad. 1. Chorizo and sweet potato hash with barrata. Dish was swimming in oil. L
Very little veg, lots of burrata. Felt like a heart attack in a dish but not the worthwhile kind. 2. Portobello mushrooms in panko flakes. I was expecting a light coating of panko, instead it was thick breading measuring more than the thickness of the mushroom. Chefs should not send out these dishes even if Jess is not around.
C. H.
Really lovely experience Staff lovely and Friendly. Had a lovely meal. However my Steak was a bit tough. Dont mar that by not Going it is expensive but worth a visit.
L. C.
Gorgeous food and setting. Wouldve been 5 stars but the service was mixed. We were in a big group and a couple of the waiters were grumpy and quite rude
P. R.
Worth the wait to get in! Fab food, the simple things are done well and the complex things are done well. Friendly staff, great menu options and cakes to take away!
A. C.
Great variety to choose from, never a dull combination of flavours!
S. &. K.
Food is good; trendy place, cold enough vibes though - I'm not even all that keen on over-friendly staff but we changed an order a minute after placing it and our server made us feel was like we were being a pain. Marked down for service for this reason.
M. O.
Lovely gem of a place .had the fish cakes which were superb.lovely glass of wine from puglia .my sister had the Mississippi mud pie so good but be sure you have room for it if your having food before it.staff so polite would most definitely recommend it.
H. H.
Had a terrific brunch; beautiful food. Don't miss this place if you're in the area.
E. D.
Fabulous, monkfish was delicious, and my partner's lamb was just perfect! I highly recommend, if you can get a table.
V. F.
In my opinion the best restaurant in Galway. High quality food and lovely venue too. Is expensive though and the wine is OTT expensive when compared to other restaurants
A. O. C.
Absolute perfection. The crab brunch was incredible, great service and such a cool vibe. Loved it!
b. l.
Had lunch, first time eating here a good choice on menu, the main course we had was lovely, will be back...
S. N.
Nlt here for judge but to let you know you should call before in order for booking. It seems to be the best Galway's restaurant and when i arrived they just told me they were full so i had to go to another restaurant. For information, i went to Cellar Bar which made me enjoy my dinner even though i took a big breakfast ^^' i m not irish :)
a. m.
Coffee delicious as usually and staff first class.
D. T.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Very enjoyable night. Staff really know their stuff, infor.med on allergen info. V coeliac friendly

Fab brunch in Kai today! Beautiful flavours in the food! Catered so well for our daughter who is vegan- well done Kai- we will return.
J. R.
My favourite place to lunch! Fresh greens, original menu, happy staff. Can get a little crowded but that's not surprising.
F. K.
Have been to Kai many times, mainly for lunch but once or twice for Dinner too. The food is amazing. Beautiful fresh food, very well presented.
W. G.

The food is magnificent!! I would recommend getting a reservation because you won't want to miss out on this food. They definitely aren't cheap, but they are definitely worth it!
A. N.
Really nice place to visit when you are in galway, or even if you live in galway definitely a spot you should check out.
Nice food, the menu isnt big but it changes quite often so there is a good chance that you will see something new.
A. L.
The food is indescribable, just amazing. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also very cosy. The staff were brilliant as well.

Service was good but we had to wait way too long for our main course and there was no apology for the long delay. Very nice space. Food was well prepared and seasoned.
T. K.
The Monk Fish is absolutely Marvellous
The cocktail made with Gunpowder Gin, orange, black pepper and tonic water was very refreshing! Service by Rachel was a splendid time!

C. L.
An experience. Great dishes. Great wine. Top spot in Galway
G. B.
Quaint little restaurant on the edge of Galway town and within walking distance of the centre. Booking a must but you might get lucky with a drop in
C. C.
Beautiful food and setting, do be aware this place is not cheap, we didn’t realise when we sat down as it’s not a stiff atmosphere like some fancy places can be, we were really just looking for a casual meal at the time but didn’t mind paying for such delicious food
Highly recommend, would suggest booking as we were lucky to get a walk in table!!!
B.
Excellent food. Popular for Sunday brunch. Expect a bit of a wait.
