Reviews of Tartare Café + Wine Bar
Best food we ate in Galway, gorgeous atmosphere in the restaurant, BUT slowest service I've ever had at a restaurant. So just don't expect to get your food quickly, but I would still recommend this for the quality of the food and the ambiance. Order the smoked salmon and the olives!
Some of the best food in Galway and great service. Well made coffees and pastries/cakes, delicious sourdough and home made butter. Came here for breakfast (twice) and dinner during a short stay. Good value and highly recommended
Best date night we’ve had! Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere, gorgeous knowledgeable staff .... dying to return!
The best tartare I’ve had, goes so well with the charred toast. Great oysters too.
Small place in the west side of Galway. The food is excellent, perfect to have lunch.
One of the best restaurant experiences in Ireland. From the very first moment we entered the restaurant, we felt so welcome. The service is beyond special and the food is wonderful. And a special shout out to Yvonne who made our evening more fantastic than we could imagine.
Fantastic overall experience. Service was so attentive and caring. Food was spot on, inventive, and flavorful. Wine suggestions were all new for me but excellent. The custard dessert was maybe the star of the show. Highly recommend this cozy place for a night out.
Absolutely surreal. If you're thinking about going, stop. Just go.
Really tasty food, great selection of wine and friendly service. Unfortunately it was the slowest service I have ever experienced with long pauses between dishes. You almost forget about it with the wine and the company but not quite.
Small & perfectly formed cafe/ wine bar/ restaurant. Have been for dinner before....small plates of locally sourced produce - divine. Today i went for breakfast, had a wild mushroom and Durras omelette. Delicious.
Fabulous chic eatery without any pretentiousness. The produce is locally sourced and it really shows – every dish was so fresh and crafted to perfection! Plenty of vegan/vegetarian friendly options and a lovely wine list.
Lovely little place. Staff really friendly and the potato and leek soup was gorgeous.. I loved the butter with the salt on top it was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place
We LOVED this place, and plan to go back frequently. Also bought some delicious elderflower salt and lavender vinegar. Add Tartare to your must-try list.
Beautiful place, lovely food, locally sourced and all wine is organic and delicious. Most helpful and wonderful staff. Would definitely recommend a visit if you love those charming little cafés serving fine foods and wines and specially selected beers.
Understated, tasty and creative food from Aniar's sister across the street. Experienced professional staff, with solid recommendations. Carefully curated wine list. Did I mention the buttermilk-oysters?.... nuff said !
Great food and coffee, cozy interior space, and friendly staff. Highly recommend! 😊☕️
Excellent ambiance! Delicious coffee and deserts. Will definitely come back for a meal.
This place is reasonable prices and has a mark from the micheling guide that it is worth eating here.
You can find cheaper lunch but it is hard to find better.
I can particularly recommend the beef tartare. The beef cheeks are also worth a try if you're a little more hungry.
One of my favorite spots in Galway. The staff, food, interior - everything is on spot on! Hamhock and cheese omelette is my breakfast fav. Love their coffee. Staff is friendly, attentive and always with a smile on their faces. Can't wait to come back and try evening menu with some great wines they have. Really can't recommend enough.
Creative food, good wine selection and superb service! Oysters w trout roe was my fav.
Really enjoyed our visit. Tasty light lunch and excellent wine and great service.
Great staff exceptional sharing type plates produced to a standard and with an imagination that fully deserves the Michelin Bib.
Very cozy and tasty place!! Must eat tha chicken and the meat sandwiches!! Bravo!!!!
Great spot in Galway to sample through a variety of delicious and interesting small plates that highlight the west of Ireland.
Top Class. Have heard of & read great reports of J P McMahon 's group of eateries : Aniar, Cava Bodega & the latest, Tartare Café & Wine Bar. This was our first opportunity to visit one of these on a visit to Connemara as we left to head home. And wow! What a superb little gem of a place. Loved the quirky, contemporary vibe. Great staff. Small, and appetising menu. We chose a sublime Potato, Leek & Dillisk soup. One of the best soups I ever tasted. There followed a wonderful Smoked Tuna Salad. We will return
Great wine list, amazing food and wonderful staff!! Must try Tartare (I guess the name gives it away…)
Their menu is incredible, constantly changing, and like nothing else you'll see in Galway. There is no wrong thing to order because it is all amazing. When you're allowed to dine-in I would 100% recommend it as it is the cutest and cosiest spot. Also, by far the BEST MOCHA IVE EVER HAD.
Excellent brunch service, staff are friendly and talented. Had the tartare and it was very tasty, would recommend to anyone and all for a good price.
The food was outstanding and the staff was very nice. I strongly recommend it.
Excellent, friendly (but not overbearing) staff, great food
Really enjoyed the coffee and scone
Best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life was the ham hock on sourdough here! Friendly staff and a cozy, inviting interior with lots of art and quirky details. Stunningly delicious and fresh food. Coffee was delectable as well. Was recommended to us by a local, and I’m so glad we stopped in!
Absolutely stunning café, so glad we stumbled into it. The coffee is great, the sandwiches even better. It felt like everybody involved did their absolute best to make our experience as good as possible. And how they succeeded! Will definitely be paying a visit again the next time I'm in the area, and you should be too.
Lovely coffee great spot. Very nice staff.
Exceeded my expectations. Really tasty lunch and such good value.
Fantastic food very enjoyable evening 👌🏼 highly recommend.
Best dining experience in galway . Michelin star quality food at a very reasonable price.
Can't fault this place. Cool design, friendly staff. Every dish I have tried has been delicious. Reasonably priced and quirky, interesting dishes. You have to try them. Love the cheese scones and custard tarts as a small treat.
The food the beer, the staff the buzz, perfection after a the train from Dublin.
Loved this place
You don't get a Bib Gourmant without earning. Amazing food and great service!
Had the most amazing potato and leek soup, and sourdough bread, Staff are very friendly and service was excellent, Will definitely dine at tartare again. And would recommend it to anybody visiting galway city.
Absolutely wonderful spot in the heart of galway. Great food, great wine and really wonderful and professional staff.
Brilliant customer service, excellent meals. Will be back.
Such a nice place to spend time and eat something unique. I recommend the oysters
Excellent meal great service.
Blown away by the quality and uniqueness of food. We have tried every high end restaurant in Galway and this is one of our favorites!
Service was great . The food was amazing , every individual dish was carefully prepared. Its fancy withouth the price . Good wine selection .
Love the food here!! Perfect mix of local ingredients and modern cuisine. A gem in Galway. The bread is delicious.
Staff is always friendly
The food in here is simply Wow! The best Oyster of my life till now I think!! And I’m trying good ones often with my parents! 🦪🙌🏼
Very nice staff. The place is pretty small so I imagine it's always busy and not easy to find seating. I just had latte and a brownie, I didn't think much of them, I think other cafes in the area have nicer coffee and desert options.
Galway's cosy, cultural spot with interesting food and such lovely staff. Rafa and Noeleen were so informative and interesting and gave a wonderful insight into their artistic worlds of cultivating wine and street theatre spectacles respectively. Well done on this venture Tartare. Great idea of merging the arts with food and wine.
My wife and I found Tartare in Galway - a restaurant only four weeks old - to be a pleasant surprise. Our train from Dublin was delayed almost two hours, so all the restaurant scouting we hoped to do went out the window. We went looking for a sophisticated option and found Tartare. It specializes in small plates and wine, and has an excellent and varied menu for both. We enjoyed local oysters, a delicious venison and barley stew and an Irish cheese plate - all of which were sourced as locally as possible, according to the staff. If you want to avoid the touristy party scene on the other side of the river but still dine out in style in Galway, check out this cafe.
Some of the best coffee I've ever had.
a superb dining experience. each dish was so innovative. All ingredients are sourced locally and the staff were so attentive and passionate about their menu.
If you told me you had a delicious bowl of potato soup for lunch i would have assumed it was the set up for a bad joke, but somehow Tartare have managed to
Amazing food, diferent and superb.
Highly recommended. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Food gorgeous
Service great 👍
Great drinks and food at a reasonable cost
did love it, all food bought was fabulous but very small portions for the price paid. that said would still go back as staff also very friendly and it's in a lovely setting
A big YES to this place. Highly recommended! Beef tartare is a gem, staff lovely. You won't leave disappointed and you will come back.
Wow wow wow. GO! Fantastic food, right up there with nearby contenders Aniar, Kai, and much more relaxed ghan many. Everything was good, and the enthusiasm for their craft was pervasive. Go, see for yourself. Absolutely class
Nice little place. Kind staff 😊
Excellent food, brilliant staff and fantastic atmosphere! If it's open, eat here you won't regret it
Have visited here both for Lunch and a coffee plus on occasion wine, quality of service and food are excellent, menu is interesting in a good way, relaxing environment but can get busy and a little tight for room. Not expensive but not the cheapest either but is value for money.
Best place in Galway for a lunchtime sandwich. Great evening menu and wine list too. Friendly and efficient staff. Love this place.
Lovely spot and the pork belly is excellent.
Someone with good taste has decorated it nicely and there's a nice vibe.
Definitely recommended!
This place is delish, the service was amazing super friendly staff that go through the menu with you, nice atmosphere about the place the food is served in a tapas form so comes out when it's ready, all in all had a great evening here would go again
Top class food and lovely staff.
This little gem was recommended to us by a gentleman we met on the train. We enjoyed our meal very much, the food was fresh and inventive. I highly recommend!
Had really nice sandwich and coffe really lovely
Cozy place and good atmosphere. We normally go for a coffee and try their nice cakes. Good stuff
Delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. Attentive staff without being over bearing. Can't wait to go back!
very tasty, salad was a little bit too small as I was still hungry after it, but the brown bread and salted butter that came with it was amazing!
Amazing food.
Oysters and stake tartar were to die for. Really enjoyable meal and a great coffee.
Great place to take a break in West Galway. Good sized portions for something more than a snack.
The tartate is actually pretty good! Overall the food was well prepared and tasted great. So, I would recommend.
Kasza with kale and poached eggs + cava mimosa:)
Such a small and cosy spot, yet with most creative menu you will find.
Amazing food and atmosphere!
We only had oysters, but those were really good: large, fresh, special

(Translated) Only when she went in for a small snack, we left the restaurant completely enthusiastic. The food was fantastic. Seldom eaten such good oysters. The service and friendliness were exceptional. In addition, this street is one of the nicest streets for going out in Galway.

Nur für einen kleinen Snack ihr reingegangen verließen wir das Lokal restlos begeistert. Das Essen war fantastisch. Selten so gute Austern gegessen. Der Service und die Freundlichkeit waren außergewöhnlich. Dazu ist diese Straße eine der schönsten Straßen zum ausgehen in Galway.
This is a restaurant on Galway’s main street.
I saw this place by chance, and it had a Michelin description on it, so I went in wondering what it was, and the atmosphere was nice, and the staff were very friendly and nice.
The food comes in small plates that are easy to eat, and they also have wine, simple cocktails, and bottled beer.
The tartare is very delicious. I highly recommend you try it.
Excellent ! Refined and tasty food! I recommend (special mention for the oysters)
I am blocked by the owner but the standard of service and food is brilliant.
Very good chef and raw materials....unbeatable result. Don't expect quantity, but quality abounds. Very good selection of wines.
Last evening of the holidays. We chose 5 saucers to split in two. The wonderful treat and the mouth-watering “Lamb”! We didn't finish the potatoes to leave room for desserts. If you are not vegetarian I recommend you concentrate on meat dishes, even if personally I would have eaten 5 tartares alone ;) highly recommended.
High quality food - especially the beef and lamb tartare. The staff make you feel very comfortable, and if you walk in they will be very close.
Great experience, really recommended!
