Great pub in the centre of Galway. I especially liked that they have their own red ale, the marvelous interior, and the history of the place. If you are in the city, I highly recommend to visit.

We stopped here Street a trip to the cliffs of Moher and dang am I happy we did. I got the seafood chowder which was excellent and cheap for the amount and quality of it. After that I got the mussels and they were hands down some of the best mussels I've ever had.
My wife got the fish and chips and she said it was the best fish and chips she'd had in Ireland yet.
The service here was spot on also. Highly recommended!
H. C.
One of the best meals ever! Delicious seafood, amazing blood red ale, and a delicate dessert
E. E.
Good beers, beautiful building with a lot of history. We enjoyed Fred and James on monday evening very much. Friendly staff.
S. H.
Excellent atmosphere and drinks, and the building is loaded with history and personality- wouldn’t recommend it for dinner though as I feel it was just too pricey for the offerings.
E. C.
Good food—-amazing seafood chowder! Service was sub par though. No offer of refills on beverages, etc, and at 3+ euros charged per cola, I would have expected more, or at least someone to ck on how our meal was. Again, great food, but lackluster service.
M. V. D.
Food/drink were good, nothing spectacular. It was quiet when we went so we didn’t have to compete for servers. The bathroom was disgusting with sticky floors otherwise would have given 5/5. Cheers

Very tasty food... Friendly service. We were lucky to get a table for 6 without any wait. The food really surprised us with the taste and every dish was delightful. My wife enjoyed the oysters while I had the wild mushrooms on toast. The kids really enjoyed their risotto. The ambiance was also superb. We may return for another session tomorrow.
J. B.
The drinks are not that great. Very crowded on sat night. Fish and chips were good. Service was good.
No traditional Irish music or anything. There’s a separate section for just a restaurant and another room for just bar and lounge vibe.
C. V.
The King's head pub is a great place to see live music and have a few drinks, the restaurant is lovely, the foods was amazing full of flavours and colours. The staff super friendly and polite. It has terrace very nice to have food in summer.
V. D.
Had the pleasure of dining here many times and our last visit was the tops.
Lovely cosy corner. The Scallops were amazing and the Poached Pear Pavlova was delicious!
R. C.
The Clam Chowder soup was delicious and light. The fish tasted so fresh! The mushroom appetizer and the Pan fried Scallop were very tasty. They have a very big dining area and so we were sitted right away. The waitresses were attentive and friendly. The Mojito was perfect! After dinner, we sat by the warm fire to finish our drinks.
G. R.
Great place for families. We went there for lunch and even with a baby in a trolley, my family was very well received by the staff. Great drinks and great food.
C. P.
The staff here are excellent - such attentive service and lovely people. Really quick service and delicious breakfast. Couldn’t recommend it more - love that they serve a late breakfast as well
D. M.
Delicious! I had the monk fish and it was absolutely fabulous! My mom had the crab claws and they were also quite good. My husband and father had the fish and chips and enjoyed them. We also had a goat cheese appetizer that was excellent! I would definitely reccomend this place!

Nice place for food and drinks, friendly staff 👌

A great place to go in Ireland. The staff is very friendly. Our waitress was the best. We asked her a ton of questions. Not just of the food but also of Ireland and the Irish language too. I wish I had remembered her name so I could put her name in here. She told us but I've forgot. I do remember she had dark hair and tattoos. All the staff was friendly and the bar tender showed us the 800 yr old wall. But our waitress was the best of all. I hope the management of the read this will relay this to her.

This place was really neat on the inside. I was shocked with how big it was - it kept going and going on the inside. It could very easily accommodate large groups. The atmosphere is really neat and the service was both quick and polite. If you sit outside they will ask you to pay upfront prior to receiving your food. Is right on the main road in the Latin quarter of Galway, making it a great spot if you sit at one of the two outdoor tables for people watching. I had the Kings Club Sandwich and found it very tasty and filling. It came with a small salad, too. Overall given the Historic significance of the building I would suggest that you try it. It is a little more pricey so be prepared to spend some money.
L. M.
Great food but it takes a long time for food to arrive. I actually thought they forgot to send our order to the kitchen. Was part of a bus tour so I was limited on time. The interior was cute and can tell it’s been around for awhile. Don’t get the lobster. That’s the reason why it took so long for our food to come out. The seafood chowder was delicious! A lot of fish and tasty!

This place is open, Google says closed ???. Great food and very good and friendly staff. In Galway for a few days so it's the first place we tried...Good choice on the menu.
S. B.
Great food and great service ! We were lucky to find a walk in on a Saturday night and even if we were seated outside we were well attended and enjoyed the buskers and the nightlife buzzing in the street. The minus is the portions for starters which could’ve been a bit more generous and the table a bit dirty...
J. V.
Met up with some old friends for a reunion last Saturday night . Very nice food, friendly and professional service. Great to see the Kings Head open again for business. Thank you Paul, Mary and Staff for a great night out.
M. K. T.
Nice and cozy pub with descent food! not that wow thing everyone says about this pub! It's different from the others since they have live every night (except when a football match is on)
S. S.
Awesome pub in a great location! We went in for lunch and had awesome fish and chips. It wasn't crowded and we were quickly served. The Kings Head is a cool looking pub! We returned later that night for live Irish music and traditional dance. We thoroughly enjoyed this place!
H. T.
Went for dinner with some friends. It’s a really cool old fashioned pub. It even has a 400 year old fire place. Great atmosphere. I had the day’s special which was fried scallops with potatoes in a creamy sauce. Very good. I would come back here in a heart beat. #maneklady #manekeats #manektravels

Walking into this pub means to walk into 1100 A.D. It is a wonderful place, with a fantastic medieval mood. I surely advise you to visit this pub. I don't give the five star just because I have found it a little expensive even if the food was delicious (you can find all the dinner photos and the check in attachment).
C. M.
attended a re-union dinner there last night. Great service, great food, friendly staff. The catch of the day was monkfish and it was superb. Great place in the heart of the city.
S. R.
Great food, lively atmosphere, and good service in a beautiful historic building.
P. M.
Excellent food, great service and good prices! They seated us right away, food was quick to arrive.
C.
We went to the Kings Head two nights in a row, it was so much fun. The first night we went to the bar and had drinks, the second we came for dinner at the bistro. Great atmosphere, and the bartenders were knowledgeable, polite, and prompt. Will definitely be coming back for a visit next time we are in Galway.
T. K.
Tour guides used to say the place is very touristy. But they were wrong. Great food, nice music and very efficient staff. Must try chips.
V.
5***** Highly Recommended for all or everyone thinking coming here in Galway for holidays to try and visit The KING'S HEAD Bistro, FOOD is lovely and both staff in restaurant & bar is friendly no complain 😊😊😊
L. G.
One of the oldest pubs in Galway, dating back to 1649. Great atmosphere, plenty of space. Live music everyday. Nice and cozy, with tables by the fire, perfect for a rainy day. Try the local beer, Galway Hooker! A must do in any visit to Galway.
F. N.
Nice pub, good food and the staff is friendly. Good place for a pint and in the entrance they have a coal fire which keeps you warm in winter (and summer). Prices are normal for the area. They have traditional live music playing every day, can get packed.
K. H.
Great pub with a awesome atmosphere. The band "Naked Bears" were amazing as well had my first real Guinness here as its definitely not the same back home in Canada.
C. G.
Cozy traditional Irish pub atmosphere. Good food. Generally quite busy, so try going between 2PM and 5:30PM if you prefer a less crowded scene and don't want to wait to be seated.
J. M.
Great food. Excellent ciders on tap. Authentic Galway pub experience. Had the sweet potatoes and crab claws.
S. A.
Had the fish and chips, and a pint, excellent. The fish was the catch of the day. It was crispy and not oily. The service was great; when I was being seated I asked if I could get the fish and chips and a pint and be out in 40 minutes. She said yes and she did, wow, didn't miss the tour bus!
M. D.
delightfully deceptive, this pub looks like it would be an open room with a nice bar from the outside. once inside, it opens into several smaller rooms that offer more intimate seating. serving staff were friendly and fast. the seafood sampler and soups were amazing. and, of course, there is no comparison when it comes to real Guinness in Ireland over the stuff we get in the USA. would highly recommend to anyone.
M. O.
Some of the best fish and chips that I've had in Ireland. Definitely a fun place.
G. G.
Nice sized pub with an upstairs balcony looking over the musicians. Great atmosphere and good times. Good but basic collection of Irish whisky. Anyplace that has Sea Dog rum is fine in my wife's book.
J. J.
Service is nice, food is why i gave 4 stars, not 5. I wouldn't give 5 starts for food, not that nice and a bit expensive. They had white beer, so its a plus! Environment is very nice.
B. M.
Nice looking. Food was mediocre. Fries and water had dirt taste. Sandwiches where small and had small amounts of food for a lot of moneys.
F. F.
Had a fantastic evening in the Kings Head. Beautiful food and fast efficient friendly knowledgeable young staff and complimentary oysters. Will be back.
N. H.
Lovely tourist pub and the food was surprisingly good. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection.
P. S.
We had a lovely lunch the staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was excellent
D. D. L. R.
Super fun bar for a drink and a band. Love this place. Worth worming through the crowd to see the live band in the back.
F. W.
Nice Irish Pub. I like it very much. There was very nice people and like always good Giness. I highly recommended this place. Climate of this please is amazing.
P. P. C.
Lovley atmosphere, great staff, great music and great food and drinks!
A must if you are in Galway!!
Z. E.
Excellent lunch with a fun and lively atmosphere. Really loved this place!

Yesterday, we got last table and our waitress was amazing, very kind, and payed a lot of attention on us, she let us feel like at home...the food was perfectly well done! She is learning spanish...and we can got a little chat with her...go on this way and Gracias!
T. R.
Had the lamb burger and sweet potatoes... it was good but not amazing. Service was good. Interior was cool.
N. N.
Very cosy atmosphere and interesting interior. Friendly staff. The monkfish with potatoes was very good!
V. P.
My husband and I shared a lovely meal at the kings head, the staff were very accommodating and friendly, and the food was great
P. D.
A nice pub with great range of Irish Whisky. Food was also delicious. Pub has great atmosphere and some interesting history. I'd recommend
S. C.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere, quality gin selection ...
A. M.
Five stars just for how they've treated us today! Very nice and friendly staff ☺️
P. M.
Very good food, the best so far in Ireland.
S. G. B.
Food was very good, service friendly. Attractive space.
D. M.
Excellent historic bar. Wide selection of drinks, helpful staff, live music every night.
K. C.
Good food, but would not do individual checks for our party of 9.
E.
I had a burger. The bap was pretty dry and so was the party. But the fries were great and so was my side of mushy peas!
A.
Go here. It's amazing. Great atmosphere. 2 story. Delicious food. Friendly staff.
J. B.
Live traditional music and staff here were great. Cocktails were well made and very tasty.
M. M.
Plenty seating and well managed. Delicious food.
A. B.
this place is currently listed it's closed it's not it's open and it's fine good beers good location good atmosphere
E. M.
Nice enough venue, staff friendly. Lots of young people in.
We chose Irish tapas for 2 which wasn't a great choice, certainly not a healthy choice. Looked like everything had just been tossed into the deep fat fryer together, children's party food. I didn't like the falafel, couldn't pinpoint the flavour. Depends what you're after I made the wrong choice.
M. C.
Great entertainment, amazing history and wonderful friends you didn't know you had. I highly recommend stopping at this pub if you are visiting Galway!
T. S.
The music is great but the bar staff are too busy to serve customers. We went over two nights, several people left after waiting too long to be served.
B. O.
Food is excellent...Local fare with good provenace, creative preparation and well presented in a environment.
S. B.
Grand place to have a pint and dine on some delicious food. We wandered in and enjoyed ourselves very much.
D.
Fantastic pub with live music and a great choice of beer.
J. M.
Had lunch. Very good service and food.
M. C.
The vibe of the pub is really nice. It's a very big pub, it doesn't look like it on the outside. So overall I enjoyed the atmosphere.
I did not enjoy however that one particular bartender was a bit rude towards us and even gave us the wrong time for when the music would start. We asked someone else because we thought it was weird and they told us it would start earlier.
I also don't know if this is a common practice in pubs but we were asked to get up from our chairs while we were still consuming at the bar and all the chairs were removed. I thought this was unpleasant.
Great variety of drinks though and pretty average price.
N. N.
They let us buy more drinks at 6:15 then at 6:30 tell us to free tables because they need to prepare area for a dinner time; when we asked if they have place downstairs for us to move to, waitress just shrugged her shoulders and said she does not know. Not the service standard one would expect.
Drinks were good though and the place itself is quite nice.
J. L.
Awesome whiskey pub with live music and dancing every night. One of my favorite places when I was in Galway.
D. Ó. R.
Tasty food, very good pint of Guinness, but the staff and service made this such an enjoyable experience for us. Well done on how you have dealt with the current climate in dining.
S. B.
Gerting a reservation by email was prefect. The food was great. The experience at the door was orderly and what I expected. Pleased to see that there was lots of space between the seated patrons. Very disappointed that none of the servers wear wearing masks :-(
E. C.
Beautiful and historic pub with lovely service and terrific food and drink. Highly recommended.
C. T.
Good atmosphere and the salmon is great. Nice crispy skin and cooked nicely.
S. G.
I came to the King's Head with no great expectations, but if I had then they'd have been shattered. Great service, great atmosphere, overall brilliant pub. The interior is very spacious, comfortable and welcoming, and it really makes for a great time. That said, it does boast that it was the best pub of 1651, which I find a little hard to believe.
C. S.
Historic and iconic Galway restaurant.
Good for organizing Christmas parties as there is lots of space. Prices very accessible and it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It's also a pub and offers a wide selection of traditional beverages
D. B.
Lovely old building that adds loads of character to the street. Nice pints and food. Will definitely return time and time again. Great staff also who were very helpful, particularly the bar manager! Great pub that everyone in the area should stop off in.
M. C.
Fantastic food with great service. And it was the service that really made the place, although the food was quite superb. I had some delicious oysters then followed up with the crab claws. I was a bit awkward and didn't fancy the chips. The fantastic server said, I think you would love the champ instead and she was right; it was delicious!
J. A.
Good place with live music. One star less for it was Saturday with a DJ with Mac and electro-something.
M. R.
Great place for a meal, pint and live music!
S. I.
We ate here because of the historical significance and age of the actual pub. We were a little disappointed when those eating food were ushered to a room off the side that lacked the atmosphere of the historic pub. There is very clearly a drinking side and an eating side. The food itself was delicious and staff was helpful and friendly.
C. K.
The pub is large and very nice. It has an old charm without looking run down or old. We ate in the restaurant and then stayed for the music, which was mostly 80's cover songs of American pop. The Irish music night was on Friday. We went during mid-week.
The food was great, and so was the beer. I would recommend it to anyone.
B. H.
One of the best known pubs in Galway. Always has a good atmosphere and has had decent music anytime I've been there. Great place to go for drinks. Highly recommend it
R. E.
Been coming here for a few years on New years eve. Always a great atmosphere even if that means wrestling to get to the bar. The food is great for pub food and there are local beers on tap. I have yet to try their cocktails but I imagine they are as good as everything else here.
S. L.
I just love this place. It has grown over the years I have been coming here from a student bar to a large pub with restaurant. Lovely lively atmosphere. Great fires, plenty of room, good for watching sporting events. Food has varied on different visits but overall satisfactory. Typical pub lunch food but evening menu was different and well presented
A. V.
Very good pub food. Guiness is good. Food is very good and you can get fish or meat.
A. N.
Great atmosphere and good food - albeit with limited serving hours (check ahead). Good option for a pub as the size of it means it's rarely jam packed. Staff are friendly with a good wide selection of drinks behind the bar.
K. C.
Stopped in for a drink on my first visit to Galway, Leroy who served us, gave great local tips and good conversation happily stayed for a few more drinks. Friendly atmosphere, with open fires live music every night. Large choice of draft beers. The restaurant seemed busy although I did not eat here. Would definitely come back
P. D.
Nice craft bear, great whiskey and delicious food. Cosy environment, well decorated.
E. C.
A good crowded bar with nice music. They do have live musics too.
R. K.
This place was neat. I got some kind of salad and it was solid. I also got a cider and it was great. The waitress was super helpful and very knowledgeable about the drinks. It was a little overpriced overall, but still a pretty cool place to check out with a lot of history.
J. K.
Changed name to King's Head Bistro in the back of the pub. Good food and friendly staff.
Z. A.
The place were you will wanna stay for more then beer and food.
K. R.
Quick stop for lunch. Fish and Chips and a Lamb Burger with sweet potatoes fries. Really hit the spot!
m. k.
Amazing atmosphere even on a weekday! Great food and brilliant service couldn't find a thing wrong with the food! Great price food a drink!
Live music on a Thursday which was a band when I was there got everyone singing!
It is a must visit place when going to Galway!
V. D.
One of the best pubs I visited when I spent a short time in Galway. Nice atmosphere, good beer, and always with a good live music. The King’s Head is a quite large pub, with pently of space to dance and have fun, and one of the oldest in town (if not the oldest).
R.
I liked the good life music. It was nice to watch the artists from the first floor.
Prices are fair.
I gave only four stars because we came as a bigger group and weren't allowed to put more than three tables together. Sadly the manager in charge didn't explain the reason behind this.🤔
C. W.
Best pub in Ireland and we went to lots! Food great drinks were good value. A very unique quirky old fun multi level pub. Like the Tardis bigger on the inside than on the outside.Music here is live and very good.
d. f.
Friendly staff great food and a lovely pint .
C. B.
Fantastic fish & chips and Murphy's Stout!
a. w.
Been here a lot of times during my travels and it's always so lovely. The cocktails are extraordinary and so tasty and the place is always so busy, plus the live music is brilliant! It's a must see place for anyone travelling!
M. F.
Affordable, and with excellent service; situated in the heart of Galway square, a historical building with a doorway into an alluring past of kings and knights. The decor is amazing with stone dressed walls and a majestic fireplace ornamented with memories of a past time; all to be embraced as we walked through the restaurant into a secluded cozy dining area with a wall of endless plates hung so beautifully, and the aroma of home cooking. We had the time of our lives!
A. T.
Awesome pub. The pan fried crab claws were amazing - the best. Cool history with the pub. The server wasn't the best, but she may have been having a rough day. Other staff were friendly. Would go again.
A. E.
A lovely spot with great staff and atmosphere. Haven't stayed for any of their live music events, but would expect them to be very enjoyable given the people and the vibes which give The Kings Head its charm.
The food was alright, certainly good enough to get rid of the hunger, but if you are looking for a tasty evening meal, perhaps save The Kings Head for some drinks and entertainment for afterwards!
K. R.
Omg the atmosphere in the kings head was amazing ..... from the dancing to the live band to the service behind the bar.
F. W.
Our noisy and tired party of five wandered in here to get out of the rain and maybe grab some lunch. We had no idea this would be one of our culinary experiences during the entire trip to Ireland! Some of the freshest and most interesting traditional seafood I've ever had, please don't miss out on their chowder or seafood stews. Excellent, friendly service, and a great beer list.
J. S.
Decent fish and chips, good beer, and excellent live music at night. Ended up going three times while we were in town for the week, no complaints any time. A bit pricey though
c. w.
Good pub, and food here has never disappointed. Outdoor seating to the front and at the back. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is because the baby changing is in the women's bathroom upstairs. Its quite cramped and often dirty. The sink area is always soaked all over the counters so it's difficult to wash your hands with a baby and changing bag etc, as you cant let anything down on counters or floor.
R. P.
Amazing food and venue, do yourself a favour and get the blood red ale made just for the pub. A must visit for any touring Galway and easily one of the best cheap eats pubs in Ireland
D. O.
In and out ....group of 4 we have 4 starters only and a few drinks.... very pleased... service 10 of 10 and delicious food (we had chowder, crab claw and goat cheese quiche)
S. N.
Nice place ! Ok food (not great). Some servers are Ok (when we had dinner there, they brought apps before drinks, asked what we wanted to eat first .. before drinks). Then wanted to clear plates as we were eating. Our original waitress disappeared!? Stayed for the live music upstairs. Was asked to leave the floor in the middle of our drinks while the band was playing (no exceptions). Have never had that happen before and I’m over 50. How about asking “do you mind heading down shortly”. The band was great drinks were ok. Some were pricey.
P. C.
They've got to seat two or three hundred people here so it's a little "pack them in, feed them and get them out" but the food was ok. We were seated on the second floor and it was hot up there. If you have the option, sit downstairs. When the other options are full, this one is better than average.
N. M.
Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, and live music later on. It did get a bit warm as more people made their way inside, and the live music can overpower conversion. (based on just one visit though) Overall, had a good time. Can't complain.
C. C. P.
Kings head is beautiful, it is big, and they have live bands.
I only have been there once for food and they were super slow and the food was average. However, the times I've been there just for grabbing pints, it has been a pleasure.
A. W. G.
Food is amazing! Get the chowder! Cocktails are so good! Get the Galway girl and of course the wonderful staff! They are so friendly and funny! 100% go there!
C. M.
The King’s Head has long been one of my favorite pubs in all of Ireland. It has become a bit commercial for my liking, but I suppose I understand given the success of their brand. Excellent food and drinks, and entertainment is lively. Definitely worth a stop on your Galway trip.
A. W.
One of the most popular pubs in Galway, and for good reason. The food and drink is excellent and the staff are fabulous. But you come for the unique location.
J. L.
Kings Head was my 2nd go to pub in Galway for music and atmosphere. As with most of the pubs I have been to, the area for watching the musicians was small but the bartender directed us to the upstairs area where we had a good view. Eventually we were able to make our way down and had a fantastic time.
D. M.
Excellent venue, had an amazing dinner upstairs in the restaurant, probably the best monkfish I have ever tasted. Service was excellent. Downstairs a band called Pyramid were starting up and had the place rocking. They were brilliant 😍
L. W.
Fantastic pub. Cosy for a couple of drinks but a fine bistro area too. The menu was traditional. Great choice of beer - Galway Hooker was superb. Beef brisket was a little tough so I can't recommend it.
E. W.
Our karma was good here, as a table opened up before our very eyes, allowing us to observe. What a great spot. Fun to watch the dynamics between the young on the prowl! Very friendly crowd
The bartenders work like crazy to keep up with the demand, but always seem to have a smile and a nice word.
C. S.
Such a nice place. Bartenders are really nice and even were kind enough to make me a cocktail that wasnt on the menu! 10/10 would come here again
T. L.
Excellent, if very touristy pub in downtown Galway. The Kings Head exudes history and is probably haunted, even if they do all they can to push this to the droves of tourists walking by. The interior is dark and historical feeling. Beer was fairly well priced and they had a good selection of local and Irish beer. Service was of course friendly as it is in fact a pub in Ireland. Loved the atmosphere, even it it came off a bit Disney feeling.
C. P.
Great Galway pub! Warm and inviting, plenty of seating options and bar space. Live music, great bartenders. Arrive by 5:00 if your plans include dinner.
G. H.
Had a lovely Friday after enjoying the Guinness followed up by a return visit later that evening for the live music. Nice bar with friendly and helpful staff, will be back
D. D.
Historic pub in Galway, the walking tours stop outside. The bar itself is like a Hobbits house, there are multiple areas and bars inside, the staff are friendly, welcoming and make sure your glass is not empty for long. We ate upstairs and the food and service were first class. I'm a vegetarian and this was my best meal in Ireland. However, I would avoid the nachos if you are familiar with the real thing, they used dorito type flavored chips and the salsa was bland.
T. C.
Great, lovely bar. Don't miss the explanation of how it got its name
D. M.
Lovely cosy, yet spacious pub. Feels very homely with the open fires. Staff have always been fantastic. Food there is excellent, and the wide selection of drinks is great too.
J. D.
Food is fantastic, drink is great, surroundings are brilliant and the staff are out of this world. Always loved this pub
T. A.
Good beer, good place
P. G.
Beautiful warm cosy pub.and lovely atmosphere. Will be back.
M. G.
Nice room Good choice of meals we had seafood chowder which was excellent then monkfish perfectly cooked and hake which was delicious Service was very good We will visit again when in Galway
M. A.
Great music and beers! A fun place!
a. p.
Galway is my favourite county. I would recommend Kings head to sit down with a pint or go a tiny bit crazy on the dance floor. I have done both of these in different occasions with different bands in place. Its all about the night planned but its always spontaneous and fun:)
C. S.
I was in Galway the weekend of the 17th of June. On a stag party we spent the Friday and Saturday night at this bar. Not one of us could fine a fault with the Kings head. Door staff and bar staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The band that played were amazing. The local people were so welcoming it made for a unforgettable weekend. Looking forward to returning .
M. C.
Lively atmosphere with a endless selection of drinks and a decent variety of food. Staff was very friendly and service was great. Would definitely recommend.
M. N.
Atmosphere is fun, staff are great! We were warned to avoid the regular pub fare, glad I listened, as the sea bass was top notch! Would've loved to stay for live music, but c'est la vie! We'll be back
R. F.
Great for football and live music, obviously not a first choice for the authentic Irish bar experience because it's built for the masses but it's still a good place to have a pint and watch a match of rugby with plenty of people.
S. R.
I love oysters! I tried Galway oysters at Kings head and it was delicious. The guy at the bar was nice but their waitresses are somewhat unhappy with their job. Anyway, the oysters tasted a bit different compared to the oysters from other places I’ve been. Galway oysters are creamy and it melts in your mouth. Overall, Galway is a beautiful place and Kings head restaurant is great.
J. T.
I would've given it 5 stars before as they used to do a fantastic oysters and pint deal - I made sure to visit here every time I went to Galway especially for that deal. I went back recently and not only do they not do it anymore - they've bumped the price of oysters way up! Disappointing
j. G.
Top of the Quays in Galway, big grubby old music pub. The music is varied pop and drinks are reasonable. Not bad to visit if you are moving on to other venues. Wouldn't spend the night there
r. f.
Food here is excellent. Roasted veggies with honey like eating candy. Large dining room and of course great beer. Try their house red ale.

Atmospheric pub in touristic area in Galway. Has two floors, couple of fireplace, big screen for sport matches and plenty of space for anybody. Huge selection of drinks and also a separate local where you can get some tasty food. Recommend for large groups of people.
A. F. B.
Amazing place with a nice name, research the history behind . If you are in Galway you need visit this place. Great and cheap food, whit nice vegetarians options. A warm place on the cold and rainy days. Don't forget visit the second floor and check the king's head !
N. G.
Really Irish pub, we enjoyed very much of live music
D. C.
Great pub with great history. Stopped in for a cool one. The bartender was fun to talk to for a history buff - he had great stories to tell about Galway and the history of the pub. Terrific environment.
S. M.
It was the bank holiday. Must have been a good band playing because the whole bar was singing and dancing. The band played a wonderful variety of genre's. The crowd was much better than the service...
H. V.
Nice location, staff were kind and friendly. Great Irish restaurant. Food was very good, a bit expensive but worth it. Live music was amazing.
N. M.
A very popular night spot, it looks a bit jaded and worn during the day. Had a spot of lunch in the restaurant which was expensive with small portions. The waitress made no apology after spilling the Guinness when setting it down - a crime in Ireland (the spilling bit, not the lack of apology!).
We brought our pints into the bar after but didn't stay due to the fruit flies and stale smell.
M. S.
Fred and James were awesome!! Great music and not too crowded!!
J. D.
Seafood platter was a perfect blend of fresh Wilde Atlantic seafood. Brucetta was deliciously crusty topped with tasty baby tomatoes. Jenny was a very pleasant, friendly and accommodating server making the whole lunch a very relaxing experience
J. C.
I have occasionally dropped in here for about forty years. Most recent visit with a friend for coffee. Always a nice place to visit whether it be food, coffee or refreshments. Staff are very informally efficient and atmosphere is always good.
B. M.
The atmosphere inside is great and cozy, with nice decoration and design corresponding to the theme of the pub.
The Guinness is good, not great. House burger is a bit expensive for its size but tastes very good.
M. R.
Huge (650 place) but cosy pub. Worth of visiting.
L. C.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service, great music and great beer.
C. W.
Live music every night. Great atmosphere and probably one of the best pubs in Galway. Big TV in the back, fire place and friendly staff.
S. H.
Great service, great food. Dropped in for lunch during a very busy time, the girls working the restaurant were totally on the ball. Had the crab claws which were excellent.
S.
It's a classic Irish pub with great beer and drink menu and great food too. Live music every night and overall has a cool vibe for all ages.
M.
Just a cool irish pub you will remember with a great and big range of whiskeys, beers and ciders as well as delicious sandwiches and steaks etc. Staff was very kind and caring about their guests. High recommendation regarding the moderate prices.
L. S.
Probably one of the best pubs in Galway city. Good quality food served late though it might be expensive at night. But this is due to organic and sea-food freshly prepared.
C. J.
When on your tour you must make this one of your stops. Very nice and friendly to sit and sip a cold one and talk about the history of this country. The history of this area is very intriguing.
D. S. (.
It's a bit touristy. There are nicer pubs to visit with just as much history in the area. Not bad for pint but you can't get food at the bar.
G. M.
I went to have dinner with some friends and the food was excellent!!
In the evenings there is live music. It is a fantastic place where to go to drink and dance with friends.
V. C. M.
We loved the special of the night; which was scallops. My spouse had the fish and chips which he said was done very well! Deliii!! We also loved the decor and the staff was lovely and professional
B. G.
The Food is very good, from local suppliers, fresh every day. The Bar is the Oldest in Galway, great spot for Food and drink.
G. R.
Cool large pub with multiple levels and a bistro. Food was very good and servers were nice although not always easily present to request more beer.
L. J.
Located in the square in Galway it is a great place to stop for chips and a beer. The staff is not the friendliest in Ireland but they are hard workers and the place was slammed when I was there.
A. F.
Multi-national visit (France, Belgium, Germany) to grab some draughts and cocktails. Served quickly, attentively, Just the right way. Good talks. More to the place than just the outside.
R. R.
Great bar with that terrific Galway feel. Gotta love the West coast! Only disappointment was that they were out of their own house-made brew.
B. O.
The Kings Head is a historic Galway city centre pub & restaurant and a fantastic place to enjoy lunch, drinks & dinner. They serve traditional food and offer excellent value for money in a romantic setting. Go on give it a go.
S. J.
We had a sunday brunch in this surprising pub, very cozy and particular, located in a corner of the city centre. You don't expect it to be that big, until you walk inside, but it has different floors and plenty of room for small and big groups!
The interiors recalls an eclectic style which mixes period and gothic accents with some more modern touches. Absolutely unique and customers walk around to snap pictures of some of the corners.. they should try to keep the style as it is everywhere (I've seen a mega poster with doesn't fit that much...)
Anyways, beyond the look of the interior, we enjoyed our late breakfast - They also offer the veggie version of the Irish breakfast, which can be easily turned vegan without the eggs, they replaced them with oven cooked or pan cooked tasty potatos - together with triple cooked homemade fries which were very yummy and big!
They also have very big barthrooms, which were quite a nice surprise, very useful when the place is full of people, I suppose. Everything was clean and tidy, which is an advantage to me, everywhere!
I would definitely go back for a lunch or a dinner there, if I was in Galway. A great place to spend some time with friends!
J. W.
The food here is great and live music at night is really good. Definitely worth getting a walk and staying for the music and drinks when you visit Galway
I. O.
The food is good and it is in the heart of Galway. Comedian festival was a bonus. Lively spot well worth a visit.
E. N.
Guinness was good, Galway Hooker was better. Fish and chips were a little soggy but steak was great. Service was okay, staff was friendly
C.
Great live traditional music on wednesday night. Really beautiful pub with a lot pf history. No cover pour the music. The band was excellent!
J. H.
Best food and best pub in Galway.
P. P.
I would recommend this restaurant because it is moderately priced but still really top quality food. The price for maybe 4 people 3 course meal is probably 70 - 80 depending on what you get. That is a tough estimate though.
K. Z.
Alright pint of Guinness. Very reasonable price. Very night club atmosphere even during the day. Not my cup of tea but ok for some.
K. P.
Great place to warm your feet!
M. M.
This is an okay pub. It was a great place to go when you're studying abroad because a bunch of other tourists hang out there. I'd still go for a pint during the day. But it's not my go to spot.
Á. F.
Typical irish bar, always good for a Guinness and a steak :) Not expensive at all, and lies at the popular area of Galway City center. Nice selection of whiskeys at the bar.
e. d.
Beautiful pub, enormous, great atmosphere. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable as regards the various whiskeys on sale. Great spot.
P. A.
Great food, lovely specials, live music
s. h.
Great food, had the seafood chowder and fish & chips was and great Guinness, been here before so knew it was good. Service was great also.
B. S.
The atmosphere of the bar is great and unique. The bartenders need some lessons in attentiveness but otherwise a fun place overall.
B. R.
Amazing historical site, staff were great, gave us a background on the place and the families that owned it, lovely warm fire, it was right in the heart of the city shopping area and it sells beer and Guinness!! Its like a tick in every box
H. S.
Nice place for hangouts and famous for its history, name and location. The pub will go crazy during live music bands. So make sure you go during those times say After 8PM - 11 PM.
K. G.
Quintessential Irish Pub with great music.
E. Y.
Bar looked great from the outside, neat history! Was disappointed in the bar area, there was basically none! Mostly table service. Only one bartender for the restaurant...He Was doing so many things it took awhile to get a drink.
P. B.
Lively, great atmosphere, excellent and extensive drink options, friendly staff even at busy times, live music. Overall a wonderful place.
L. S.
Very good food and excellent service. They do have a wide range of deserts, as well as a special-menu for each day. Most definitely worth a visit.
J. L.
We were very tired but the fresh Stone crab and brew woke me right up yum, Best trip ever!
J. K.

Best pub in Galway with free live music almost every night. The pint price is pretty fair and the atmosphere is great.
A. T.
Like the beer selection and the live band was great. Bar staff were slow and made mistakes with our order. But great atmosphere.
K. B.
Good food, good beer! Highly suggested if your nearby! One of the best fish and chips I had while visiting the emerald isle.
B. M.
Great vibes w street music!
C. M.
Traditional pud that serves a nice pint of Guinness. Staff are friendly and the log fireplace was much appreciated on a cold February evening
A. A.
Friendly staff, the food was pretty good, but the sea food chowder had a lot of fennel seeds which ruined the taste for me. The fish and chips was great though
C. V.
Enormous restaurant in the heart of Galway, noisy and very full of people. Food is good but staff is poor. Good price but too touristic.
A. T.
One of the best seafood chowders that I've tried in Ireland. Huge portion, reasonably priced and very tasty. Highly recommended.
E. R.
Large old-style pub. Great atmosphere, food, and live music most nights. Friendly staff. Very popular with tourists and locals alike.

Would return though.

A. G.
I only experienced the bar and live music, but the bar service was quick, the beer was cold, and the music was good. Enjoyable pub!

Chowder is below average. Pernod too strong. It's too creamy. Staff have limited knowledge about the wine.

A. O.
The food was excellent, very tasty, but a bit pricy.
I liked the place, excellent location.
The service is a little bit slow but nice people.

D. D. S.
Nice bar and staff, great beer. Nice place, love the story behind it.
E. S.
Losing some of its lustre. Was freeing when I was in to watch a match lately. Heavy smell of cleaning detergent (which in itself is a positive) hung in the air and onto the pints.
L. N. D.
Nice place to sit in front of this bar as you can listen to the street music etc. Inside is a little dull for my liking.
R. S.
Super cool super busy spot. All the local offerings and good live music. Shows some NFL football on Sundays.

It's a bit difficult to find, as you need to go through an alley to get there. It's also confusing because the place has changed names several times.

T. S.

Ate out here every day I was in Galway - do not be deceived by how apparently basic/typical the dishes are - they have mastered every dish and I could not get enough of their food (literally!)
