B. F.I visited the Seafood Bar tonight and had a really great dinner experience. My friend and I were the last table at the restaurant and didn’t feel hurried to leave in the slightest. The staff happily served us dessert even though we were the last table on a quiet, rainy Thursday evening. Thanks very much for the delicious meal!

Mussels for starter, had the 'small/starter' sized portion which is plenty, even for 2!
The turbot(see pic) was delish, and so was the duck. The merlot was good, the Pinot had no complaints.
Atmosphere and barstaff were heightened, our dining area was a little dim but I noticed the bulbs above our table probably needed replacing, tealights set the ambience!
All in all - excellent dining experience.
B. J.This Michelin rated restaurant is tucked in a small lane near Spanish Arch. Reservations are strongly recommended as we showed up at opening and got the only 2 seats at the bar that weren't spoken for. Yes, they book the bar seats for dining. Service is impeccable with good recommendations for food and wine. For starters, oysters were briny and sweet with an excellent mignonette and the crab spring roll had good flavor. The sea bass was delicate with crisp skin and a delightful sauce. Asparagus was very fresh. The salmon was substantial, perfectly cooked and atop a flavorful risotto with peas and bacon lardons.
M.Amazing food, and excellent service. We drove around 2 hours from Ballina to visit this restaurant in Galway as everything was closed on a Tuesday. Definitely did not disappoint, and worth the 2 hour drive. The food is really better than most seafood restaurants in Dublin.

M. D.The food is absolutely incredible! If you want something other than your usual salmon, I highly reccomend the Asian beef salad, it was so refreshing and palet cleansing, the ginger and lemon grass was gorgeous on it!
The fish and chips is phenomenal, so light and crispy, you could tell the chips were fresh and hand done.
The seafood linguini was gorgeous, light butter and white wine sauce was very light, not too heavy at all. Only issue was no place to put the shells!
Thibault was an absolutely incredible server! We walked by once with no free tables and came round again and he flagged us down "ladies! Give me 5 minutes!" And I'm so glad he did. He's the reason for the 5*****

If you don’t know where it is, good luck stumbling unto it, use maps. You do need to make a reservation, we did it the same day (for 3) and it was okay. The vanilla crème brûlée was SO good. You should really try this place!

d. p.Maybe it was a bad day at the office but the local mussels were cooked with bacon lardons covering the seafood taste while the chowder was tasteless. To make matters worse they don't serve Guinness or any beer and the very average wine was at premium prices.

Another guest had mussels to start and hake for mains he was very impressed. One other guest had soup of the day and fillet steak which he said was scrumptious. I had duck for mains and meat fell off the bone. All in all another wonderful evening of wonderful atmosphere and food. Service was very attentive.

I wasn't hungry and ordered one starter and asked the waitress for recommendations for another starter instead of having a main course. I was happy with her suggestion to have mussels and they were very nice, but the portion was huge and I ate just a third of it. The rest, I assume, was wasted. And I hate doing that. Also it seemed a bit to dark there for dining and it's too pricey

The meal (Duck & Seabass) was without a doubt the best we had in all of our time here in Ireland. Highly recommended, not just for the food but also the attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere they have created there.
D. M.We dropped in here without a booking. The staff were very accommodating and offered to move us to a warmer table as soon as they could, after seating us outside. Unfortunately being moved seemed to cause some confusion in the kitchen with our order, resulting in waiting almost an hour for our food. However the restaurant more than made up for it by comping us a couple of free sides and taking the wine we’d ordered off the final bill without even having to ask. The food itself was top notch seafood. We both had turbot, which tasted really fresh and was very well cooked with some croquettes and Parma ham wrapped asparagus. We’d happily pop back again next time we’re in Galway.

K. H.Very few words can describe the quality of the food and service which my girlfriend and I experienced last night. Our waitors and the head manager on duty delivered a service nothing short of sublime. Warm, friendly and attentive but not overly so. The staff take a clear joy in what they do.
As for the chefs, words escape me. We had the most beautiful dishes of sautee prawns and goats cheese to start. For mains we were both blown away by the salmon and freshly grilled turbet. Every moutful was bursting with freshness and flavour that had us both looking at each other in silenced awe. It's as if the chefs are catching the fish themselves, their pride jumps off the plates. Practically everything on the menu is Irish which is important for me.
If you leave without trying the cheese cake then you have not lived. I loved their take on it with an upside down raspberry cheesecake. All washed down with a beautiful bottle of sancerre.
What an experience. Will be back.
G. H.Last Friday evening was our third time to dine at The Seafood Bar. My wife is the fish lover and claims that the seafood chowder starter and salmon main course is the perfect meal. It was our first time upstairs and found it very relaxing. Despite getting very busy the service was excellent.

Also had a bite of scallops with black pudding, surprising and nice combination. With a bit less of garlic, it would be a five star.

J. C.This is a long established seafood restaurant that always delivers excellent quality sea and other food. It is located in the historic "Latin Quarter" of Galway. Be prepared to pay a little bit above the odds but I always consider it good value for that special occasion.

My family love the Seafood and had eaten there regularly but have not been there for about 6 months. The portions have shrunk since our last visit -2 scallops in a €16 starter. €25 to €30 for mains without any vegetables, salad or potatoes. With 1 glass of wine and 1 pint of Guinness, 2 starters, 3 mains, 3 desserts and 1 coffee was just under€150. We will be in no hurry to return which is a pity as the quality of all the food we got was very good. The service was generally but not entirely efficient but it felt forced not genuine. We brought our American visitor to Fagans in Drumcondra Dublin the following night and had a meal while not of the same quality of cuisine but for under €60 with genuine friendliness and helpfulness. As Galway residents we were disappointed in "our own" letting the side down!

M. A.When we got married in May we had chosen Kerwins for our celebration after the ceremony, which very small. But Kerwins did us proud. We were made to feel like the really special bride and groom without overdoing it. I am coeliac and most of the items on the menu they made suitable. Our dessert plates were decorated specially for us on the special occasion. The food was exquisite. I will never stop recommending Kerwins. Yesterday we took two relatives in for lunch and they food is still as good as ever. It is to be highly recommended. Though I'd hate anyone to go in for a quick bite, you need to sit and enjoy your food in Kerwins. Believe me it's worth the extra.

Expect an ever changing selection like whole black sole on the bone with anchovy butter, and platters of local Galway Bay oysters. Atmosphere is warm and solidly romantic without any pretensions but you pay dearly for all this. Great to splurge. Not at all suitable for children.
