Fantastic food. We visited them for the dinner on the weekend. Ordered chicken pate, calamari as a starter, mushroom wellinton and slow cooked lamb for main which are listed on earlybird menu. The lamb was so delicious!! The servers are friendly.They did enough service as needed but not too much which I liked. Really happy we choose the restaurant. and yes! They served sliced bread, It was tasty too.

Absolutely perfect fine dining experience. Went out with friends and I was truly amazed by this place. Service and interior were fantastic. But really the key to our night out was the food. Delicious food and the early bird menu is surprisingly good value. The venue is quite narrow, which makes moving the bathroom a little difficult at times, especially if it is as busy as it was when I was there. Service is good, with attentive staff, but sometimes we were left waiting a little longer than I'd like. In saying that, it was very busy, so probably to be expected.

This is THE BEST restaurant I've been to in the whole world! The ambiance is spot on! Perfect for a date night or anniversary or anytime. There are at least four really cool bars (one with lovely Hot Club combo playing during my visit.) This is not a sports bar, no ball caps in sight...really a lovely, funky, awesome place. And words can't describe the food. "Delicious" just doesn't seem powerful enough.

In Kilkenny for short break during the week. While exploring, found Rive Gauche only a stone's throw from the hotel, tucked behing the Left Bank bar. Loved the restaurant's lighting and style. Loved the food. And loved the service. Friendly, efficient but not intrusive. And an extra point for service : I ordered a sparkling water. It was a little while coming. Waitress appears, apologises for delay. Explains that they had run out of sparkling water but she had bought some in a local shop. And I got my fizzy water. Now, THAT'S what I call service. Not cheap but worth every cent. Based on this visit, I would highly recomment the Rive Gauche

Service, food, restuarant, were all 5 star. The food was excellent for the price. What i mean is that if you expect a Micheline starred meal, expect to pay €50-€60 per entrée and to see Micheline stars displayed. We enjoyed dishes that were beautifully plated, prepared with very fresh ingredients, delicious, and worthy of a few more € per dish. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant was warm and welcoming and well decorated without feeling as if it was trying too hard. Just a really enjoyable experience. I've been in the restaurant business as a busboy, waiter, bartender, and manager over the last 25 years and they really care about what they are doing at Rive Gauche. Bravo !

We really, really enjoyed our Tuesday evening here. We loved the old parisienne decor and the wine and drinks out on show although sadly we were not drinking. The staff were very good, professional but friendly, a nice balance. The food here, as is often the case here in Ireland I find, was just amazing. I think it is the quality of the ingredients to hand. I had beef cheek ravioli, no pasta, it was delicious and, like all the food we ate, well seasoned - no need for table salt. We also had the lamb shoulder, it fell away from the bone completely and was delish. The compressed chicken was well recieved too. Finally desert was a Chocolate and acidic fruit (passion fruit?) combination that sent us away with a spring in our step. The price was well worth it. Good quality food, unusual, delicious and a little daring deserves to be recompensed rightly.

Respect the effort these guys put in. I just wish they focussed more on the ingredients and less on how they try present it. Get rid of the miniature buckets and baskets for chips. No need for chapping boards instead of plates. Bar menu is excessive which on asking presents the difficulty in staff to actually know what's what. Simply focus on classic cocktails in order to excel. Less is genuinely more.
