A. S.Cromane is a sand and shingle spit off one of the Kerry peninsulas in Co Kerry and Jack’s is a restaurant with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Georgina Campbell hospitality guide to Ireland has named Jack’s as Seafood Restaurant 2017.
Dinner for me started with Oysters Kirkpatrick; fresh oysters cooked with bacon and finished with Tabasco and Worcestershire Sauce. Simple, spicy and delicious.
I followed this with the king of fish, Turbot, which was pan roasted with cabbage (classically Irish), Aubergine and purple Carrot. The flesh was perfectly cooked and tasted as though it had jumped straight from the ocean to the plate. As with dinner at Dingle, a load of other vegetables were served on the side. It seems easily possible to consume the recommended 5 a day in one sitting in Ireland.
For pudding I had the lightest cheesecake I’ve ever had. After all that veg I needed something that wasn’t too heavy and this didn’t disappoint. The flavours of raspberry, ginger and lemon sang out individually and blended together in a very pleasing way.
I’ll definitely return here next time I’m in Kerry for the local food prepared with care and skill and served with a smile and occasional song.

Though it was late and we had no booking, I was advised that it was no trouble at all and they managed to find us a table. Luckily, this was just a couple of tables along from the pianist.
For starters, I had the seafood chowder followed by the glazed salmon, (we were by the sea after all). Both were excellent and full of texture and flavour.
The staff were great: nothing was too much trouble and there was a real family vibe amongst them. Will definitely be back.
P.We had such a fantastic three course meal at Jack's tonight. I cannot speak more highly of the setting, taste, presentation and service, not to mention the beautiful ambiance created by JP Murphy's melodies on piano!! The staff were so attentive and friendly, every single one of them. We had the chowder and halloumi for starters. Both so delicious. For mains we had the hake and seastone. I am not a huge fan of fish and I couldn't fault the hake. For desert we had lemon posset and brownie (we reckon it was the best we ever tasted!!!) Thank you so much Jacks. We'll be back!!
j. f.I visited Jack's this summer, after a number of years - due to living abroad. This was definitely one of the best meals my partner and I have had in a long time, and Jack's has become a must visit each time we return home in future.
The setting is stunning - nicely spaced tables, with amazing views through the floor to floor windows.
The food and service was second to none - service was attentive, without being intrusive, professional and friendly.
Given the location we both opted for seafood starters and mains, all of which was delicious.
The icing on the cake for an amazing evening was the beautiful piano playing taking place in the background. I was fascinated by the skill and professionalism of the piano player who successfully played beautifully throughout the evening, while also engaging with passing customers who wanted to chat to him.
I am already looking forward to my next visit home to Kerry, during which we will definitely be returning to Jack's for another exceptional evening.

The food is always of a tip class, and the menus, even during covid, have something for everyone. This is a 'go to' if you are anywhere in the area.

S. V.Went to Jack's last night after seeing its good reviews on TripAdvisor. To sum it all up.... The meal was meh.... It was all just ok, with a touch on disappointing. The food was a bit on the bland side, pretty mediocre, the cod special available hadn't seen a pinch of salt or pepper and was slightly overcooked and the risotto was also overcooked. The mascarpone dessert was nice and the decor/ surroundings were beautiful. But all the above for a price tag of €160 for dinner for two with 1 bottle of wine... Added with the two taxis needed to go here as its not exactly walking distance to get to, makes for an expensive evening . Jack's is certainly not the seafood haven I thought it would be and not certainly not worth the price tag. Service was very good, and staff pleasant hence the only reason this review did not get two stars

A. O.From the moment we walked into Jacks we knew it was going to be great and it was even better that great. Sea views to die for, no matter which way you looked, soothing sounds of Mr Piano Player extraordinaire!!!, and the gorgeous sounds of diners voices indicating a gradual return to norm in these strange times.
We were led to our table on a raised platform and were greeted by gorgeous white linen table cloths with the cutlery required also enveloped in the same gorgeous white linen, napkin.
Menus distributed my eyes went straight to the oyster starter and that was it, I was sold!!!
My half dozen oysters ( which by the way was very beautifully presented ), were probably the best oysters I have ever eaten. Thank you. My partner had the soup which was also delicious and creamy.
My main was Black Sole on the Bone and my partner had Hake. Again the flavours were amazing. But for me especially the vegetables were cooked exactly the way I love, sweet carrots, broccolli and cauliflower.
All that was left was the fish skeleton from my Black Sole. We devoured every morsel.
Dessert was two Creme Brulee's. If I had one small and only small criticism, it would be that the gratin dishes did not give the Brulee the normal depth that I so love, but it didn't take away from the flavour.
Staff were amazing and attentive, and not a sight or sign of acrylic nails and pens in the hair!!! ( My two pet aversions )

H.We had the most amazing meal in Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant last night ,the location of the place is amazing and stunning ,food is served in a spacious marquee in line with COVID-19 guidelines .The staff were so pleasant, efficient and just a lovely bunch of people ,our food was something else, we both had goats cheese tartlet with caramelised onion for starters which was mouthwatering,I had the tiger prawns in tempura with a chilli sauce and sides which was the nicest shellfish I have eaten ,my husband had the steak with a beautiful array of fresh veg and mash ,delicious ,and we shared the most decadent vanilla creme brûlée with a cranberry and white choc cookie which was divine.all in all we would rate our experience as 5 star and we can’t wait to return as it was fantastic value for an amazing dining experience.

Brian and Pauline are such professionals and a superb team plus great craic. Pauline went over and above her duty and ensured our wedding was what we wanted. In truth it exceeded all our expectations. John on piano at reception entertained all our guests, even taking requests from our two boys. We even had a first dance which was a huge surprise in these Covid times. Brian had our bubblely topped up before we finished drinking it. The food was mouth-wateringly delicious and our guests are still speaking about it. We will be forever thankful of Jack’s for our wedding reception.

S. D.On a weeks holidays and a "staycation" we booked what we thought were some top restaurants. And having heard good things about Jack's, we booked it for my partners birthday. In a week which included some Michelin star restaurants, Jack's was the absolute highlight by a long way.
From the moment I booked until I paid the bill it was absolutely faultless. Staff are truly exceptional, some of the best I've ever come across in any restaurant and the food is pure perfection on a plate. It's very easy to see why Jack's comes so highly recommended. We are already looking for an excuse to visit again.
Bill for 4 people came in at €260 which I thought was pretty good value as it included a bottle of wine and some pre dinner drinks and pints.

D. H.The food here was very good. The view is beautiful looking out over Cromán beach.You get what you pay for. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it.The wine list was very appeasing and the staff were pleasant and well trained. That is refreshing as most staff in restaurants nowadays haven't a clue about their own menu or food in general. The scallops were excellent and complimented perfectly with the air dried grilled Parma or black forest ham. I can't remember now if it was smoked or not so I mentioned two possibilities!
The sole on the bone we had was excellent and served with a selection of tasty seasonal vegetables and garlic potatoes with sweet potato in a creamy type gratin/dauphinoise. The wine we chose was a delicious fruity Moko black New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which was very good and worked perfectly with the maritime fare we selected. My wife had the turbot and it was equally delicious. Our kids had desserts , we had 3 good quality coffees and finished with a few Amarettos on ice. Social distancing was good , tables were well apart ant toilet facilities and hand sanitizing was well managed. I would recommend this emporium of fine dining!

M. T.Jack's restaurant is in Cromane in a beautiful setting. It's on the coast as the name suggests so you can sea the sea from the dining area. Their food is always superb.....and the service is top class which always helps.
They cater for christening, birthdays and weddings(plus funerals). It's better to book in advance regardless of the time of year. It's usually busy as it's well supported by
locals and the service remains the same.
You can go for lunch and dinner is served from 6pm onwards.
There is also a green area which brings you close to the sea and a walk helps the food go down so you get two for one.
I have eaten there several times so if anyone suggests Jack's to me the answer is yes you can count me in!!

R. S.Visited Jacks recently as a birthday treat from our daughter & son. Friendly staff, excellent food. As we were being seated at our table, the waiter honed in on the conversation re the evening being a birthday treat for me & my wife. We had finished with no room for more but two of us decided to share a desert. Soon after this the resident pianist broke from the music to mention that amongst the diners was someone celebrating a birthday which was followed with the waiter arriving at our table with some chocolate cake adorned with a sparkler & the dinner guests bursting into a chorus of happy birthday. Now I've seen this being done before but usually at the request of one of the dinner guests. The waiter did this did this of his own accord - nice touch Jacks & staff.
