L. G.Foods are definitely up to my standards. The Gluten free chocolate brownie is the best I ever had in Ireland. You actually eats brownie, not chocolate cake! The Homemade Seafood Chowder is not something I like because its done in their way, I loved classic seafood chowder. Having said that, the chowder is actually perfect for calories counters.

Z.Went here for a meal the other day and I had the best scampi I'd ever had. Might seem a bit pricey to pay €25 for scampi and chips but it was worth every penny as you do get what you pay for. And the service was equally as good here too. All very polite and friendly aswell as professional. Will definitely be going here again and again and again. And who ever wrote their sign couldn't have written a more suitable message for these current times, being a chef myself I know exactly how hard it is during these times.
e.Managed to get a table outside after a day out cycling - inside was fully booked. My son is a bit of a chowder officianado and declared the one he had here "the best ever.". Unfortunately the squid was off the menu, but when the waiter told us that they only cook what comes in fresh you certainly can't hold that against them! My crab claws were devine. Great food, great service - and the Killarney Stout was delicious. All agreed a fantastic meal.

B. O.We were able to get a booking for that evening when we popped in around 3pm, but it was the last one for that day, Killarney has been very busy in August!
Went in for 9.30pm, we had the scallops and guinea fowl to start de-lic-ious the puree with the scallops and jus with the guinea fowl were great. We then had the lobster stuffed with crab and the prawns for mains. Lobster was great couldn't fault it, the prawns I usually like to see in the shells for the flavour and could've done with a little more seasoning but were still good. We would have loved time for dessert but with the new 11pm curfew it wasn't possible.
Service was pleasant and not intrusive. Would definitely recommend.

Beyond genuine friendliness and efficiency, they really go out of their way to ensure you have a nice eating experience here. Oysters were knockout - make sure you order some. And the Vermentino by the glass!

Super friendly and excepcional service (Eileen 👌🏽) and amazing food. They were super open to make a small change in one of the dishes, which talks a lot about the kitchen and cooks.
The atmosphere was really nice, with live music in the terrace (not a service provided by the restaurant, but I had to mention it ‘cause it’s part of the experience).

All the fish was perfectly cooked and presented. What was supposed to be a quick lunch quickly turned into three courses and we enjoyed every bit of it!

Honestly, I just can’t say enough about how good it was. Fresh ingredients, packed full of flavour, with an interesting and varied menu. I had the crab claws to start, followed by the hake and both were absolutely divine!! Of the 6 of us, we were all unanimous in our praise and fully agreed that not only is the food exceptional, but that the Mad Monk represents excellent value for money… when I’m next in Killarney, this spot will for sure be top of my list! Thanks for a wonderful and memorable evening!

At €9.75 the kids meals were expensive and limited in choice. Otherwise a 5 star meal if we were without kids.

We had the prawns and mussels to start, both unbelievably tasty, and both had the sea bass risotto for mains. Everything was just beautiful. Already booked in to return in a few days :)

R. W.We ate here tonight, and our meal was outstanding. I ordered seabass, with different sides (which they didn't mind and were very accommodating). To sum it up... This was one of the best meals I've ever eaten, without doubt. Seabass was so tender and cooked to perfection, the mash was literally the best I've ever had, asparagus which is my favourite veg, was cooked to perfection, and the carrot puree was absolutely delicious... I should have asked for more.
My friend had the salmon and said it was amazing. Our husbands had steak and they said it was outstanding. Especially with the mash with black pudding (I hate black pudding, but tried it and i absolutely loved it!).
We had a fantastic meal. The staff and Chef Eric were extremely welcoming. Already planning to come back in a couple of weeks.

W.I know the food is great, and takeaway service was great during the first lockdown, but during these restrictions now, Google says they're temporarily closed, but their website says it's open for takeaway during the weekend. So due to the website saying this, we tried ordering this weekend, and called many times, but no one answered. My suggestion, just to avoid future confusion, is to update the website to match what Google is saying.

Extensive menu. Time to drool and ponder. For the avid fish lover then Quinlans The Mad Monk is definitely the place to dine.
I would strongly advise booking. As a busy, buzzy spot. Decor tastefully done. Copious seating both up and downstairs. Child friendly too.
I opted for Scallops as my starter. The best I have tasted in a very long time.
My darling opted for Thai Fish cakes, a good balance of potato and fish. Dermot and I chose the Proper Scampi. It matched up to its description. Exquisite.
The Mad Monk is the best fish restaurant in Killarney. Such an asset too. Cannot wait to return again.

Mention spéciale au serveur qui a vraiment le sens du service. Il prend le temps d'expliquer clairement aux étrangers les plats et de demander si tout se passe bien, sans trop en faire. Vraiment agréable.
