Crab Claws 10/10. Battered Fish & Chips 10/10. Fish Pie 11/10. Service 9/10 (because it took ages to sort the bill). Trifle with custard 11/10. Overall 10/10. Would go there every day if I could. We got there on a Friday in August at 5:30pm and got a seat OK without booking. It also seems pet friendly as one couple had a small quiet dog.

We arrived late and unannounced to Kinsale on Saturday, but the staff at this wonderful quayside restaurant welcomed us, found us a table, and proceeded to feed us the most gorgeous seafood we have ever tasted. I recommend the Fishy Fishy Fish Pie, a combo of the many yummy fish netted locally. The staff were wonderfully friendly and courteous. But best of all we escaped with a bill of only 64 euro for dinner for two with wine. We can't wait for our next stay over in Kinsale

Disappointed as I was really looking forward to dining here. Service wasn't great- host not very welcoming and then drinks (even water) took a long time to arrive. A few minutes after ordering I was informed that my starter wasn't available and I felt rushed in choosing another.Then both starter and main courses came straight after each other with not even a short gap. The food itself was good (apart from the salad being drenched in very sweet dressing). I know restaurants are having a difficult time but basics such as diners being made to feel welcome is very important.

I don't ever post photos of food after its been half eaten but in this case the food was so amazing I had too! Honestly the next time you visit Kinsale visit Fishy Fishy. We had to eat on a park bench for obvious reasons but the food served in fish and chip boxes was a great novelty. We even enjoyed a lovely glass of wine in a plastic glass. The fish was so fresh I'd say it just came out of the sea! The sundried tomato chicken was so flavoursome. Even if you were just peckish the chips are freshly cut and divine. Staff are so friendly even taking our rubbish from us after our meal. I'll definitely be back for outside dining and can't wait to experience indoor dining there soon!

Overrated. My wife and I just ate here and the food is fine but the service is lacking. Our fish was fresh tasting but didn’t wow us. The servers did not check in regularly and we had to ask for water and ask for more drinks and ask for our bill. The table next to us had to ask for their bill as well. We also noticed the wastefulness of the butter for example. You get 4 small pieces of bread and a big cup of butter, who eats that much butter? We saw the staff take several cups of butter and they just throw it away. Why not serve smaller portions and waste less? It would save the restaurant money so just an observation.

What a wonderful experience. We had asked when was a good time to queue as they don't take bookings and they told us 5 pm so we didn't eat lunch. The tempura was crisp. Oh what a joy and I now understand how good smoked salmon can be. I will pay more for it in the future. The staff were lovely and there was no pressure to move on.

Gave this place a 5 star because of its employees. Nicest guys you'd ever want to hang out with. However, you don't go to a restaurant for that alone, although the staff could make or break an experience. This time, they definitely made it! New bartender from France was amazing! Hope he gets even better during high season. General floor manager moved us from lunch to dinner seamlessly, all while dealing with side orders from us, and mainly drinks. Gordon, I'm guessing the maitre de, had just the right amount or professionalism and heart. The food was great, even if it was only starters. The spring onion mash was the best ever. Cute touches. A must while in Kinsale.

Fishy fishy is maintaining the social distancing rules and also has plenty of sanitizer around for customers to use. The staff and service were great. But after a lot of recommendations on their food not everyone in our party had a great experience and for the prices you will pay here it should have been better.

Loads of friends recommended this place so we paid a visit to have dinner while we were in Cork for the weekend. It was a good meal but nothing too spectacular. House made brown bread was good. We then had mussels for starter. Nice creamy pesto stock. Perfect portion for sharing. For main, I had pan roasted monkfish and my husband had seared yellow fin tuna. We also ordered a portion of vegetable and normal chips as sides. I thought my main was delicious! The pan roasted monkfish was tasty and I really enjoyed the creamed spinach risotto + the few sweet potato chips put in the risotto as decoration! I tried a bit of my husband’s seared tuna...it was yummy too! However, my husband said the rice was a bit too salty. Maybe they went a little too heavy on the soy sauce! The rice was completely drenched 😅 The side of vegetable was ok. Not very flavorful. The chips were ok too. Really soggy? I love a good golden crispy chips but these were not it!! I told the server and he brought it back to the kitchen to re-fry. I was expecting a re-do, not re-fry the same batch. Whatever...it did come out slightly better. Still soft though. He said it’s just the way their chips are? The type of potato they used or something like that. Wish I took a picture of it! Skipped dessert and went for some nice gelato back in Cork City!

We've had lunch there on the 18th July, one of the warmest days in the year, we managed to get a ok table, which before our meal arrive we have been reallocated to a better table. The food was gorgeous, one of the best salmons I had, with a superb sauce, well recommended.

This is a must-visit place where the food (mainly local/fresh fish and sea food), a high-end cuisine type, is upheld by the experience of being at the heart of the little, luxury, sea side town of Kinsale, nearby the seaport. There is a car park directly opposite to the facilities. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love their food! And their service. All the staff take care of you like you're a real bossman/woman, they're all extremely pleasant and operate like a family. The manager also pops in to say hi every now and again. I really appreciate good service so that's why this place gets a complete five stars from me.

Well known fish restaurant in a fishing village! Solid food. Quite creative starters, the fish itself really good. The Pinot Grigio was surprisingly good for an open white. The dessert, we have had choco mousse, was poor on the other hand. The staff was a bit rushing although the restaurant was not very busy.

Just had a beautiful meal here. They were open for outdoor dining (due to covid restrictions) and taking walk ins only. We arrived about 6.30 and it took around 30/40 minutes to get a seat but absolutely worth the wait. We had oysters/crab to start, mussels/monkfish for mains and mousse/stickie toffie pudding to finish and a bottle of rose. The quality of the food was amazing (particularly the monkfish) and the service was lovely, definitely would love to come back again!

Can't fault this place for food and service. The best seatrout I've ever had, a sizeable piece served on a bed of mash cooked to perfection. Service was efficient and excellent. I got the impression that the restaurant is set up to deal with lots of tourists. If I'm being picky, I'd say it lacks a little atmosphere.

Don't know if they're open or what the hours are currently, but you should go here if you have the time! Parking is tricky, so find a good spot 😉 We waited in Kinsale Park until the restaurant opened, then got in & ordered everything 😋 Absolutely no regrets! ~See photos~ Recommend+++++

Upmarket seafood restaurant. Despite having pre booked I had to ask for a knife and fork when the meal came. Unimpressed that water was charged for! Without being made aware of it. Asked “ would you like plain or sparkling water” ! Honestly there shouldn’t be a charge for this unless it’s a branded choice which it wasn’t! The food was “ok” just ok I’ve had better. Husband had lobster for the first time and thought it was alright but not spectacular. I had the haddock in tempura batter which was nice. I ordered a side of onion rings which didn’t arrive with the meal I had to ask for them 10 minutes into the meal. They were lovely though when I got them. The staff were friendly but not motivated. A little overpriced for the experience!

We ordered a $60 bottle of wine and received two tiny “taster glasses“ with our bottle. Seriously no fine stemware , no Spiegals or Riedels, etc. somewhat pathetic considering the quality of the wine that we ordered. With the exception of our ambivalent and somewhat standoffish waiter, the food was exemplary. I would go somewhere else for impeccable food and wine and service. Service was incredibly slow. We didn’t even have a server greet us at all. No one brought over water or took a drink order and when someone finally came over the question was “are you ready to order?” No introduction, no greeting, as if he’d come to our table 3 times already. They were very accommodating with food allergies. I’m from the US and traveled before, and I know things tend to be slower here but this was not that. However, they had to omit items from my wife’s dish and while that is helpful, they didn’t tell her, and her food came with only half the protein she ordered. Food was very good. Really cool place. For that reason I rated it 3 stars. But the service was so poor. I would not go back. It was not worth what we paid.

Friendly Service but by the way people talk about this place I taught the food would be spectacular, just your average seafood restaurant in my opinion got asked by a waiter if we wanted sparking or still water while holding a bottle so said still little to know we were charged 4€ for that would of presumed it was complimentary like most restaurants and nothing said about the price at that time, I’d the seafood soup and fish and chips the soup was really good I will say but it lacked meat there was like 2 muscles in the whole bowl the rest was as if it was blended in with the soup, the fish and chips were just your typical fish and chips anyways would recommend think next time I might face my fear and give the oysters a shot as the muscles were all sold out at the time we got there 😂👍

I really liked the way they adapted and reached out to their customers during the tough Covid19 crisis and offered a takeaway service. Imagine my delight in collecting two fresh, off the boat lobsters, beautifully cooked with an Asian butter sauce during lockdown. Martin and other top restaurants in Kinsale also cooked and delivered meals for free to the elderly and vulnerable in Kinsale during the pandemic. Very generous of them. Looking forward to dining in Fishy Fishys gorgeous restaurant courtyard in the near future.

Good quality fish although very expensive. Often not worth what you pay. We got overly charged for not tasty oysters. Wine is really expensive but good selection. From a so famous restaurant I expect a bit more in the menu.

Overall: Food was good, servers were friendly, but we were completely rushed and pushed out the door, not able to enjoy our meal. For spending $70+ a head, you'd expect a relaxing dinner. Not the case. This was the dinner we were looking forward to for our trip, and we spent 40 minutes there (would have spent 30 if we didn't take our time having our drinks, which, by the way, my drink was never refilled but rather we were given our check instead)... Considering how expensive this meal was, which is consistent with a nicer restaurant, I was very disappointed that we were clearly just dollar signs, which is understandable to any restaurant but not one of this caliber and world-wide recognition. Overall, I left extremely disappointed in the entire experience. There are several other amazing restaurants in the town that I would argue have way better food and extremely better service, so do your research before coming here.

Also has chicken or beef on the menu for diners who are not fond of fish. Definitely try the deserts! The pavlova is excellent and the creme brule fantastic. They lose points for some oddly stingy cost cutting. Deserts getting progressively smaller and every meal used to be preceded by free humus. Also inexplicably closed for most of January for some bizzare reason. Recently started charging €1 per person for water also. Well worth a visit though for the beautiful food and friendly staff. The attempt to be novel and experimental reveals a lack of knowledge of cooking. Prices are on the high side so you expect a degree of flair which simply wasn't present. Single G&T €12, Hendricks. Oysters were not detached from the shell and served with ketchup. Was this a homage to McDonalds ? €25 for the sea trout but was a starter size portion. Was dry from overcooking. Served with pickled onions which was an odd combination. Haddock was average. Chicken salad average with parsnip crisps which were soft. Nice dining room. Staff seemed a bit uneasy which tends to imply poor relations with management.

I scouted this place out for a lunch visit when my wife and I came through town in October 2017. There was a little bit of a crowd when we stopped in, but not enough to account for the slow pace of service. I'd rate them lower for service but 1) we Americans are an impatient bunch when it comes to meals (so it probably wasn''t really that slow), and 2) the food was incredibly tasty. Again, not a quick stop but very delicious seafood options available. My wife had a cajun spiced salmon burger with paprika crisps that she very much enjoyed. My dish was the Fishy Fish pie, a ridiculously buttery cream sauce with lots of fish, a breadcrumb top, and a side of mashed potatoes. I still drool thinking about it...

My wife and I visited this restaurant a few years back it was absolutely fantastic it was recommend by someone we met on the plane from NY I believe he lived in Queens NY it was so good I'm still thinking about it years later

A quirky little restaurant with a mix of tourists and locals. The waitress was absolutely endearing, and all of the food was fresh and tasty, and a very good value.
