a. b.Just love eating here, food fabulous and the staff are so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble, big shout out to Paul who knows his wines, and how to upsell them!! Restaurant is spotless and its good to see covid certs certainly being checked at the door. I hate that I live so far away so when we do visit it's it's real treat. Pick up some sausages when leaving, they alone are worth the 90 minute drive.
P. S.Writing about the food here cannot do it justice. It needs to be experienced. From the variety of the menu. The amazing food. Cheerful friendly staff. Value for money. Their sinfully delicious caramel filled doughnuts. I cannot recommend the restaurant enough. And if all that wasn't enough we ended our meal with a stroll around their art gallery. Definitely worth going out of your way for.
T. B.Stopped in for lunch and the fish (haddock) and chips were excellent. Low sodium crust, tender and moist fish, cooked just right. Also, I love that they require a COVID vaccination prior to entry. Kind wait staff.

W.Popped into The Purple Onion with my partner today, could not see any onions but we stayed for a drink and a meal, not only were the staff very welcoming but they were friendly and warm , We has the local caught fish and chips with tartar sauce ,cooked really well and hot chips ,the service was perfect with very attentive staff. After our meal I browsed the shelves of drink and found and purchased a bottle of Sling Shot Local Irish gin, Defiantly a play to stop and eat in the summer by the River Shannon Lock, Thank you guys , wont forget ,
S. K.Great food and great service . Been many times and always happy with an amazing meals. The duck, calamari or warm chicken salad starter are all amazing. The steak,seabass and duck for main course is delicious. Great selection of kids meals also. Great selection of wine and beer available.

I loved the artwork and the deli and the pure unadulterated charm of the owner who bought my loyalty with a sample of superb chocolate.
