Very surprised at the superb quality of food. We stopped by on our way home from a long drive home and after seeing other positive reviews we thought we’d give it a try. Absolutely delicious. Both adults and children all had empty plates heading back to the chef. Chicken curry was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone. Overall price was perfect for the quality of the food and the service was also very friendly and welcoming.

Good place for traditional Irish homemade dinner. Nothing fancy but always fresh and very tasty. It's like "Sunday dinner at your mammy" staff very friendly and welcoming. Even most fussy eater can find something. Loads of parking space, very clean place.

The above was my review from five years ago, how things have changed! I ordered Ceasar salad today and got a disgraceful attempt at one! A chef or cook offering that standard needs to be dismissed! I have been many times but unfortunately today was a shambles the food i.e. breakfast was as good as ever. The service was very bad arrived just after ten am waited 5 minutes for the table to be cleared after giving my order then waited 15 minutes for our tea to arrive ??? That's after sitting right next to the tea service machines then waited another 8 minutes for the breakfast to arrive ? Plus another 2 for the toast to arrive all the time watching tables of 2/3/4 who arrived after us get served not happy .

Tougher's Restaurant has to be the best food myself and my Wife had in a kildare restaurant in a long time, the food was excellent and piping hot when it arrived to our table. The Chefs can be seen preparing the meal, which is a nice touch, we were served by a pleasant girl called Margaret, got her name from the table receipt, and I must say the food was well presented to the table. Will we be back you bet we will thanks everyone at Tougher's Restaurant a lovely experience.10 STARS.

Jan 2020.... Plenty of parking. Same layout inside as last year. We had a vegetarian stir fry from the menu and a chicken and ham pie from the special daily menu. The pie was gorgeous and there was plenty of chicken and ham with a crispy light pastry on top. Mashed potatoes and a roast potatoe accompanied the dish. It was very filling. Highly recommend this dish. The stir fry was also a large dish and included half rice and chips. We had water as drinks. Total was €25.40. The staff were friendly. The toilets were clean. Jan 2019.... Set out like grandma's kitchen with servers to take orders and bring your food. I had roast beef and my wife had warm beef salad. The portions are large which I was pleased about. We both finished our plates and both dishes were lovely. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. Staff friendly and dishes reasonably priced.

Always good deacent food served up without delay by friendly staff. Everything from all day breakfast to the best of steaks with whatever you want to go with it. It's where the locals have been eating for years, very consistant.

Plain food at its best, decent prices. Staff are efficient, friendly and local. Location to the M7 means its ideal if you want to eat coming from Dublin or before you get there. Plenty of car parking for any size vehicle. It's known and loved throughout Kildare.

Nice place for a quick pit stop. Food is good with plenty of selection. Arrived at the table quickly and piping hot. "Tougher Grill" is a monster of a dish so either be really hungry or be prepared to be stuffed! Restaurant is clean, if a bit dated and the staff couldn't be nicer. There's a bar attached and a petrol station across the courtyard. All in all a good rest stop minutes from the motorway.

Had the beef.nothing to write home about..mash wasn't nice.sopposed roast potatoes where boiled potatoes doped into a fryer for about 60 seconds,cauliflower cheese as an old cauliflower,, and carrots swimming butter, the desert had was pavlovia no chewey or gooey meringue and the pieces of fresh fruit were rock hard,,and there was six other people in our party..only one had no complaints about food..so it'll be a long time before I visit again..drove 40 mins for that..😡

As funny as this sounds, they seem to leave the toast on a hot plate or something because literally every time without fail the toast is like cardboard and once even broke a tooth off it! I will share the blame on that one though! Even thought to add that they can be very disorgansized and normally there is something up every time we go there - Their food is second to none. Best breakfasts around and definetly the best desserts!!
