This restaurant serves closest to authentic Indian currys. They have many vegetarian options as well. Although the items are a bit pricey, I would recommend this hotel for its food and ambience. Mayur restaurant is located close to City Centre and has nearby paid car parking.

I'm from India and I live in Dublin. Indian food in Ireland can be hit or miss. I visited Portlaoise on a weekend break and decided to get a takeaway from Mayur one evening. We'd ordered a little more than we could eat, so we ate lunch with the leftovers from the previous evening. Still yummy! My partner and I loved the food so much we got ourselves another takeaway the next evening too. The taste is splendid and the service from Mukesh who took our order on both days was top notch. Strongly recommended, such amazing food!

Very tasty food and friendly service, highly recommend. Had butter chicken, rice with mixed vegetables, garlic coriander naan. Also had a really tasty creamy chicken dish with almonds, cashews and fruit salad in it! was second or third last item on 'Traditional Items' part of the menu. Sweeter than butter chicken and I really enjoyed it.

Super tasty Indian food. When you ask for spicy food, you do get real Indian kind of spicy food here. The ambience is lovely. Service is good. Great value and good quality food! I'd definitely recommend this place.

My favourite Indian restaurant, the food is always amazing. The tastes are divine, excellent choice for vegetarians too, would highly recommend the Subz Korma. Be prepared to wait though, everytime I order it's always later than the estimated time given but the staff are lovely and will look after you.

Best Indian food that I have eaten in Ireland over the last 3 years. And I tell you I’m Indian and not very easily pleased but this place actually restored my faith in Indian food here in Ireland. Very nice and friendly staff. Very flexible in terms of order. Fresh food and worth every cent spent in there. Absolutely loved it. Definitely coming back here.

This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants I've tried in Ireland. The food is cooked to perfection, perfectly balanced spices, vegetarian friendly and generous portions. Staff is super polite and friendly. If you value a proper fresh cooked Indian meal, you can't miss this place!

Very nice. I'm not usually a fan of Indian food, but the staff was really good and the food as well. I had a delicious mango lassie. With that I had some garlic naan bread and a seekh kebab. The portions are quite big! Get ready to be filled up. I'm surprised that there wasn't a lot of people but I think it's because the place is quite hard to find.

I have been eating in Mayur for years both in the restaurant and by take out. Getting a takeaway from Mayur is a bit far away for us, it's a 20minute drive but it is always worth the wait. I had a meal In Mayur last night that was fabulous. Best meal I had there so far. I work with Indian people who have made home cooked Indian food for me before and because of this I can say that what I had last night was authentic! Onion Bhaji was really good. My wife always gets the Balti which i always have to taste as it is really flavoursome. I usually go for something very hot like the vindaloo or chilli masala but last night i had the jalfrezi which was yum. The service is fast but friendly! Always the same staff who are excellent! I look forward to going back. Excellent A+++ 5☆ 10/10.

Here for first time during the week and I will be back soon. It was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm and cozy on a horrible winter's night. Lively welcome from Dave and speedy service. Offered advice to the novice Indian diner in the group and was most willing to adjust recipe to suit her palate. All the dishes we chose were just delish !! Lovely flavour and piping hot. I found this a really cosy restaurant and I will be back soon to try some new dishes.

A nice place to have a dinner. Early bird menu is nice. 21.99euro including a glass of wine, an appertiser, a nice portion for main course and a coffee/tea/ice-cream. Environment is nice. Toilet is cleaned properly. Nice service. This restaurant deserved a 5 star! Highly recommended for having an Indian dinner here!

Top class meal and friendly staff. Mixed Vegetable platter had superb flavours. Lamb Saag was tender and full of delicate flavours Goan Sea Food Curry was spicy and fresh.

Yum, yum, yum!!! I was staying in Portlaoise and decided to check this joint out as I love an Indian curry, best decision ever. I had onion bahji to start, very generous portion came with a tamarind and a tikka sauce, scrumptious. I ordered the chicken vindaloo, now I know most peeps this will be too hot but it was so delicious, my dining partner had the house special curry who would definitely recommend it, he loved it. The garlic and coriander naan was super tasty. If you live in Portlaoise and never had Mayur, you are missing out on a doorstep gem and if you are visiting like me well head there it is on the Main street. 10 out of 10 for me, will come again.
