This place is lovely with superb views over the bay of union hall. The food was magnificent and the kids fish and chips was huge. Service was prompt and friendly and the prices were good to. Would recommend the steak sandwich and the fish burger. Would definatley return to this gem of a venue.

What more can one ask for, a perfect pint, a great sirloin steak perfectly done with lovely pepper sauce, fries and a lil salad. Wonderfully attentive, and genuinely, friendly staff. Fantastic views for sure, the food ok, the service a bit all over the place. I asked for a mineral and had to ask again 15 min later, which she also forgot. Just need to keep an eye on the customer. I had eaten there before twice and the food was excellent then, I'm afraid it was a bit disappointing. I asked for fries and a mixed salad with everything except onions, I got nearly half a head of lettuce and 2 bits of tomatoes and a few cucumbers with balsamic dressing which was so strong. Very disappointing. I might be lucky next time.

Quite busy place with excellent service. We were there to takeaway lunch and we had to wait around 20 minutes. we bought fish and chips and seafood chowder. Fish and chips were nice but we didn't like the chowder. We felt that chowder was not fresh, not sure if an old one was heated and given. Both my husband and I got bad heartburning feeling until next day after having it. Some dishes are bit expensive too.

Beautiful views from the tables set neatly along side the road over looking the beautiful gardens and estuary down below us. The place including the toilets were spotlessly clean, the waiting staff were smiling and very quick in serving the guests. We had two dishes, the lady had fish and chips followed by a Maltese cheesecake while I had beef burger and pear and raspberry tartlet. Everything was delicious! The coffee was also hot and tasty. I would happily return again 😎

Fantastic management and super yummy fresh food! I love it here - highly recommend this place! So 5 years later, Google is asking me to update my review and has anything changed. Well the answer is No. This place is still as amazing as ever! The food is still really good and the management and staff are really great people. Rory behind the bar is such an amazing guy, so welcoming, helpful and funny. He will always make sure your visit here is a great experience, from dinner to drinks. I highly recommend a trip here for food and drinks.

What a special evening. Walked in not expecting a table but were treated with such respect. Problem solved and created a social distancing table. Food divine, light, full of flavour. Service impeccable, humourous and welcoming. Would visit again in a heartbeat.

Not easy to park at the week-end. Incredibly popular with the passing crowd. The seafood chowder and calamari were piping hot and nicely filling. Smaller plates were also enjoyed. Nice piece of ham in the sandwich. Roast meals had all gone by mid-afternoon so book early to avoid disappointment.

Cozy restaurant with seats out the front and a great view over the sea. I'm veggie and there is only one main course you can get and you have to ask what it is, but my meal was delicious. For meat eaters though there is plenty of choice, especially fish dishes :)

Placed in a very scenic location overlooking the bay this is a nice and modern café. There's a terrace on both sides of the road, with the one nearest the water offering the best views. Tried the fish and chips which took almost 45 minutes to arrive. Ok, it was very busy, but really... 45 minutes? And then the batter was soggy as well. Not a good experience!

A group of 11 people dined here for my birthday Saturday 17th Feb 2018....The food was so so good and great portions. Everyone in the group commented on how excellent the food was. I arranged a menu with Chef Finbarr - he was so helpful and offered great suggestions for our menu. Compliments also to the girls on the night and the gentleman behind the bar (and they were under pressure), they were so helpful and attentive. Can't wait to go back again. Beautiful little pub/restaurant with a stunning view over the bay (and this was in winter!). Staff are friendly, competent and well dressed (a big ask, one would imagine, in this day and age). I stopped here on a Sunday while hiking from Skibbereen to Drombeg and was promptly served a rejuvenating half pint of Guinness. My only complaint is that the Guinness was served in a generic - rather than a Guinness - glass.

Delicious, really delicious! Fish can hardly be fresher on the table. Sure, you can get burgers and steak, like everywhere else, but John Dory - if you don't know it, you have to try it - is a poem.
