Fabulous food and wine tasting menu and pairings. Fantastic accommodation for vegetarians as well. Lovely & cozy Michelin star restaurant tucked in the town.

One of the best meals I have ever had! I have to say what was really refreshing was that the service, which was really informative without being pretentious, which is what I have experienced in Michelin star restaurants in London, Belgium, The Netherlands and Canada. Also the amount of local produce is a credit to how sustainable the restaurant is. Unlike Gordon Ramsey's restaurant which has had the same menu for the last 15 years!
Cannot recommend enough! 10 courses and your are absolutely stuffed!

Great 👌 dinning with chef Roberts vision of West Cork flavours. Nice set with special mention for Tomato water 💧🍅 and 🦆 duck.

Congratulations to Rob and Elaine. Had a most magical meal in Restaurant Chestnut with my daughter. Each plate was a work of art but the fruit of the pudding is in the eating and the 'art' more than lived up to this challenge. Each morsel of food was delicious and flavoursome. The freshness and quality of the locally sourced seasonal ingredients (no air miles here!) was outstanding. The re purposing of the historic pub to the restaurant is in keeping with the ethos of this enterprise, it seems to me. No brash interiors, subtle colour scheme accented with carefully selected objects d'art act as a backdrop to the real star, the food and ambiance of Restaurant Chestnut. The faultless front of house combined with the delft hand in the kitchen is the success of this enterprise. What a team! Continued success. Can't wait to get back to be surprised again. Very best wishes to you and your team. Liz

(Translated) On our journey through Ireland we have found a few culinary gems. The Chestnut is certainly one of them.
Located in an old pub - you have to search a bit before you notice the case in the street - where the old-fashioned interior in the room seems barely adapted.
But not a problem, because nothing of that old-fashioned can be found in the kitchen.
With an approach reminiscent of our terroir kitchens, a return to the products that are rooted in the region. And they bring them into a combination with component flavors that show the full value of the products.
From mussels from the bay, to fish from the Atlantic, or vegetables, herbs and flowers from our own garden, all basic ingredients can be found in their own region. Nicely combined and beautifully decorated, they turn that evening into a party. Unfortunately a bit far away to visit regularly.
(Original)
Op onze tocht door Ierland hebben we een paar culinaire pareltjes gevonden. The Chestnut hoort daar zeker bij.
