H. E.We looked for a nice place to eat breakfast this morning and found Lyons café. It was awesome, all drinks and meals were incredibly tasty. I had the best quiche I have ever eaten, and the salads were so good that I had to take a salad box home with me. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend!

A. T.Maybe a bit pricey, but the food is just excellent and worth every cent. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is unique. The Cafe is located above the clothing store with the same name. Ordering is mensa style, at a counter with several food items. They have very tasty salads and sandwiches, and for lunch (beginning at 12:30) they have a choice of three different meals. At our visit this was beef stroganoff, chicken, and meatballs with linguini. All in all a very good spot to eat, which seems to be visited mostly by the locals and not very many tourists.

S.I really like Lyons. I went for breakfast and chose a bacon, cheese and egg sourdough toastie which was really nice and my friend had french toast. Both were good sized portions and tasted really nice. Definitely recommend.

We all ordered different items and everything was delicious. We especially loved the rhubarb crumble. The service was great and the food was delicious. The local woman told us to park under the glass house hotel. It made parking really simple.

R. E.Lyons Coffee house is a visitation to the past with a modern twist. We were recommended by a member of staff from a local pub called The Swagman. The interior harks back to 50's and the staff are attentive and friendly. The menu is extensive and the food is of a very high standard and will not leave you feeling wanting and the prices very reasonable. It has to be very good as on the 2 occasions that we visited it was teeming with locals. When you have had your coffee etc you can pop into its attached Lyons Shop which has a male and female clothing area, and on the 1st Floor everything for the bedroom. Situated within walking distance of Sligo City centre and other places. A great place to while a away time over coffee. Another added attraction is it's takeaway or sit in cake shop on the ground floor.
J. C.First rate bakery! At the street level is the take out but a few steps down the street then up a flight is the airy and well lit cafe for a relaxing way to begin the day. Select your pastries and find a open table.

Lyons cafe is situated on the top floor of the Henry Lyons department store. Its ye olde world. I think the place has operated as a department store business on the current site for over 150 years.
The coffee shop on the top floor captures much of that. High ceilings, drop down lights, wooden floors, old style furniture.
The atmosphere in the background is of that of an old coffee house with background music dominated by the sounds of the coffee machine and food service (maybe it was where I was sitting but I think it added to the experience).
The place feels very current though. The service area seemed exceptionally clean, the menu is modern. There were cakes and scones that looked the business on my way up to order.
My order for coffee was taken at the till and it was dropped down to me promptly which was nice rather than waiting around.
There were papers on the benches to read. I found it a cool place to chill with a coffee reading the morning paper.
One drawback for me, though was the coffee itself, although the blend was nice - I found the milk to be a bit too hot (having worked as a barista overseas where the trend is towards a lower temperature milk).
Summary: Great place to go for morning coffee or lunch. Think it captures the best of that area of the town very well. Traditional is in roots, yet modern and progressive in its delivery.
