The only negative I have would be that the place was very cold, given that there are two ways in from the front and both doors were open I assume it was just because it was cold outside. Food was lovely though. Highly recommend it if you're in Strand hill.

J. M.Food was good (although I'd like my beef in the sandwich to be sliced a little thinner), but it was very tasty. When it was busy the wait was a little long and there was some confusion about an order which was made by a person who arrived earlier and who we joined, meaning that their order arrived some time after ours.
However they are very friendly and helpful and reasonable prices for food. Thanks

The cafe sometimes(if you’re lucky) does vegan cakes, I had a sticky toffee which was unreal!
The interior is really cute, love the handmade jewelry they have!

B. A.so! I know this place for years now! perfect spot for a delicious coffee while walking around beautiful Strandhill. And yes, I do eat here every now and then so I know the food is good and worth recommending..but!!! today's special- lamb shoulder - was PERFECT!! it was so good that I took another portion for take out to have it later. And I don't eat much meat at all. but this...magic!!! thank you!! please have it more often (I would set up allert on my phone even hahah). I feel grateful.

The menu consists of mainly eclectic food, some vegan items, but also some hearty stuff with bacon. Great coffee, too.

The home made cookies are good for those not on a diet!! The owners recently published a cookery book which I bought and have made a few things from.

M. M.The view is idyllic, the perfect location does exist for a fine cafe and shells has found it. The food is fresh, quirky, varied, wholesome and healthy nevermind simply amazing. The staff are very attentive, checking on you constantly without being intrusive. The only fault that I can find is the noise, due to its popularity it can get very noisy but hey its just a pet hate of mine. I will definitely be back the next time that I happen upon strandhill but maybe a trip to the seaweed baths will also be on the menu.
M. A.Did I need a cupcake before breakfast? Probably not but it was delicious either way! The cake was a bit heavy, not light and fluffy and there was an equal icing:cake ratio, which was ideal. Breakfast was avocado toast and delicious (had to save half for later it was so filling). The wait was about half an hour around 10:30a for two on a Wednesday during Easter week.
s. l.Highly recommend a visit. Delicious breakfast and coffee. The eggs even have woolly jumpers on to keep them warm. Picked up a few souveniers in the Little Shop also.
T.Our favourite Café in strandhill because of the lovely prepared food (breakfast, lunch or cakes-all brilliant), the very friendly and hard working staff, the nice looking furniture and therefore the whole atmosphere! It's always busy because it's so good! ;) thanks you guys, hope to see you soon.

T.I live in Wexford but am a Sligo woman. 2 weeks ago I called here with my Mum to get some takeaway food & drinks. The whole way the ordering process etc. was done was brilliant. Staff were so organised and very nice. Inside was spotless clean, again, while getting drinks the staff were so lovely. Waited outside for the order. Short wait, and I could see staff outside emptying the bins and brushing around the tables. When the food came it was gorgeous. Best BLT's we had in a long time! My Mum was nervous about going out, but she was really reassured by how well it was all done. These customers really appreciate all your staff's hard work to keep us safe. It is appreciated, and I was a proud (and smug) Sligo woman heading back to wexford.😀👍

C.Lovely little cafe in Strandhill. We had breakfast here both mornings during our stay. We both enjoyed the breakfast burritos which really set us up for the day. Staff were welcoming and friendly and adhered to social distancing. We also took advantage of the take away cafe and treated ourselves to muffins which were delicious!

T.Received a gift basket a couple of times and was very impressed with the quality of food. The brunch basket had gorgeous granola, coffee, homemade jam, delicious savoury spread for sandwiches and lots of other goodies. The other basket had the best brownies I have tasted in any country (and I've eaten a lot), I'd vote them the best in Ireland. If you can't get to Shells during the lockdown, get them to deliver to you - it's so worth it. The staff are wonderful to deal with and went above and beyond to get an order out. I've eaten in Shells many times over the years and would highly recommend.

Very easy and well laid out. It's very small so when its busy it is difficult to find seats. Lots of parking spaces around strandhill beach. Great views of the beach. Highly recommend visiting this cafe.

The place is usually busy so you might have a bit of a wait to get a seat but your patience is well rewarded. The staff are polite and friendly and the service is fast. Prices are very respectable. If you ever in or around Strandhill be sure to visit, you won't be disappointed.

Went in for lunch and was told there would be a 20min wait time, which was fine as it gave us a chance to grab a coffee and have a look around the little store part of the cafe. We were then shown to our table and served the most delicious food which was well worth the wait! Also cater to vegetarians and vegans which is amazing!

M. W.Fantastic brunch here, all 3 specials on the board looked amazing. We also tried the toasted ham/cheese/onion sandwich and I really loved it at first but then the sweetness of the onion relish was just too much for me personally. Cute little shop attached with some local goodies, and some quirky odds and ends.

M. T.We ended up coming here 3 days in a row as it's in the perfect spot for a post-surf meal at strandhill beach. They do delicious breakfasts and lunches, with plenty of veggie options. The cakes (especially th coffee cake) are great and the hot choc is good too. The staff are all vey friendly and attentive - even let me charge my phone with their charger for a while. A true gem of a place :)

D. O.I had the Open Vegan Sandwich and it was really good, but they need to up their vegan game. It frustrating to ask if something is vegan and get the response 'Well it's gluten free' or 'Well, it has honey in it' - just say no. Also, charging the same price for the vegetarian burger without a bun and simply calling it a naked burger is insulting to one's intelligence - why would you pay the same price for less? Most burger buns, with the exception of brioche buns, are vegan, so the 'naked bun' creation is just laziness.

I. B.Had breakfast at this lovely Cafe and could not help feeling that I was in a Country eatery in rural Australia. The Bircher Cereal, according to my wife, was one of the best she has had. The menu is Aussie inspired and so surprised to see 'Smashed Avo' (Avocado ), a Melbourne Staple for a Saturday Brunch, on offer. Our waitress was lovely and all said well worth the visit.

S. C.Had a nice flat white here. Shells has well trained baristas and good speciality coffee so the drinks are always good. However the place is always uncomfortably busy and the layout /flow of people is poorly designed. In the shop section there is just a big jumble of people queuing up to order / others entering through the door/others browsing trinkets/ others waiting for coffees and staff bustling through with trays from outside. It's uncomfortable /noisy and I feel like it could be so much more pleasant if the flow was just controlled/thought out a bit better.

N. M. H. (.An absolute must when in Strandhill, food and service are second to none in this café right on the shore, there is also a shop on the premises selling healthy produce, fresh baked goods and take-away coffees. If the weather is nice there is also an outside dining area too.
Peak times can be busy, they dont take bookings, put they take names for the queue, its well worth the (usually short) wait.

J.Food is good, but orange juice is watered down & is disappointingly out of a carton considering it isn't cheap. Service is usually good; although the same cannot be said for the little shop where I often get served with aloofness. I've even been short changed & when I've politely pointed this out I've had a less than pleasant reply.

It gets very busy on weekends and holidays, though, so they don't take bookings and you might have to wait - keep that in mind if planning to eat with your little ones at brunch or lunchtime, or else they'll get hangry ;) Inside, decor is lovely but it's small and when busy it can be feel crowded. There's wooden tables outside with clear windscreens - those are a great alternative to noice/crowd or to avoid waiting to sit inside on sunny days :)

Lots of homemade cakes etc for desert offerings, all looked nicer than the other. All in all really nice food in comfortable surroundings. excellent.

S.Shells Cafe is a lovely, picturesque cafe along the seaside. The food is always good but it's always busy. There is the main restaurant/cafe with a takeaway coffee shop attached to the side (which also sells little gifts). It is a must if you go to Strandhill!

H. S.Shells is a welcome sanctuary from the wild winds of this little seaside town. Great home cooking which is guaranteed to warm your cockles after a brisk walk on the beach. Everything on the menu is made fresh daily onsite and is always served up with a smile. I have sampled everything from the sandwiches served on pillow fresh bread through to the famous fish and chips. Whatever you are hungry for Shells provide a substantial supper. Don't even get me started on the cakes - if you cant fit one in don't leave empty handed - believe me you will regret it - get a sweety to take away. All the cakes and slices are delicious as the view.

It's got everything - beautiful location and stunning views, the smell of the brine, sandy beach for great walks and fabulous food at Shells. I love the whole ethos of Shells and the quality of their foods and drinks. If you are ever in Strandhill, anytime of year, visiting Shells is a must.
