I went to have lunch at this restaurant yesterday and was mind blown by the service and the QUALITY of the food and flavor was like nothing I ever had in Ireland. I will definitely be visiting again thank you for a wonderful experience. It's also right in the center of town 30 second walk from the shopping center!

Shiki Chinese & JapaneseRestaurant has a welcoming, cozy and elegant atmosphere. The food is fresh and exquisite at very affordable prices. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming. I recommend it with all my heart, it would be a mistake not to visit them if you are in Waterford, Ireland. I, personally, I hope to get to visit them again soon.

Very quite place, beautiful oriental decoration with calm music on the backgroudnd. We order a Salmon/Tuna Temaki which came quickly the Salmon was very fresh so was the rice. We order Fried Rice, the dish was really good as well with big portion of Prawns. The price is ok for a Japanese food. I would recommend this place.

Going to admit that my voice alone when booking a table is enough for staff to say my name . Chinese take on Japanese food. So definitely not the place for authentic Japanese food, proper sushi rice not used. Wasabi also was a bit strange in texture and immediately dissolved in the soy sauce. Hot sake was brought down when I requested chilled. Turns out it was nice to have hot for a change so no harm done! Food wasn't bad but I'll be sticking with Kyoto down the road next time I'm in Waterford for sushi.

First time getting take out from here and have to say it’s amazing. I got the beef with black bean sauce and the beef just melted in the mount and it wasn’t even the fillet beef. Also got the mini salmon sushi and it was very tasty and great value. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Best sushi in Waterford. Gyoza are spot on too. I always opt for Japanese but my less adventurous colleagues tell me the Chinese selection is top notch too. All you can eat lunch option on the weekend is good too for people who like Chinese. Wish the Japanese main courses were included though!

Of course, if you like sushi, this is a good place to start. Spicy food, tiny bits, nice atmosphere and polite staff. Toilets are clean which is a big plus for me. The price is according to the market.

Buffet lunch here was great value 13.90 for all you can eat starters and main course. I did think the main was a tad on the small side, I asked for half rice and chips with my curry and literally got 8 chips on the plate. The curry was beautiful but could have done with some peas and onions to bulk out the meal as well as add colour and flavour. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

Five of us went for the lunch buffet on a busy Sunday afternoon. One of our group was vegetarian and we had troubles with the orders. 1. We made sure to note that my friend was vegetarian and asked for the vegetarian dishes to be separate from the meat ones. This was not done on more than one round of order and we had to send back dishes that she could not eat. 2. We received the wrong order on one occasion which we also sent back. 3. My friend ordered a vegetarian spring roll which she discovered had chicken in it after taking a bite. We were most disappointed at the initial reaction of one of the staff who said that the due to business, it was missed that the order was vegetarian. She did not apologize or acknowledge the damage to my friend. One of her colleagues came over a little while later who was apologetic when she heard the situation. She replied that the kitchen department was separate from the service department and that as different servers were taking orders, it was easy for requests/special instructions to be missed. As for the price, they initially offered 20% off for my friend's portion which was 13 euros. She stated that my friend still ate some dishes which needed to be charged. However my friend explained that she had been a vegetarian for 13 years and she felt the 3 euros off her bill was not fair given she had been served meat despite telling the staff numerous times that she was vegetarian. In the end, they were kind enough to allow her part of the bill be free as compensation. The purpose of this review is not to blame or diminish the service. More so, we feel better systems of communication particularly between the service and kitchen department need to be put in place such that errors like this do not reoccur. This would be particularly important during busy times when mistakes are more likely to occur. Furthermore, we felt much better when the error was acknowledged and a sincere apology was offered. On a positive note, the rest of us enjoyed our meals particularly the sushi!

Service was efficient and friendly.The sashimi bento box was fresh and very tastey and that was one of the best miso soups I have ever had. So much amazing flavour. Unfortunately I am giving 3 stars because the curries looked like they came out of a can and I was so glad I didnt order one. My husband said it wasn't great curry and didnt complain but are most of it. It's just ok and will go back only because it is one of the very few places to order sushi in Waterford.

I am vegetarian so a sushi place is not the best place to go. I went with my girlfriend because in Granada, Spain I tried vegetarian sushi and whas amazing. But in this place one of the vegetarian dishes tasted like they added fish to the sauce so I hated it a lot. The rest of the food was ok but if you are vegetarian avoid this restaurant. My experience is of 1 star but I marked with 3 because I see unfair to do it without trying the rest of the food that may be is good.
