The food was fabulous, all fresh ingredients and cooked to order.
The service was wonderful and I would highly recommend it.

m. a.Visited Bates while I strolled around Rathdrum, lovely ambiance and scrumptious food. Tried their steak and chicken curry.
The chicken curry is full of flavours with its creamy texture, served with flavoured rice that goes very well together. The chicken is fresh , soft and juicy.
The indoor dinning is giving all the Irish vibes that we are looking for .
Definitely would recommend this place to try along the country side.
A train ride from dublin to rathdrum while you wanna try something nicer.

A. C.We ate here on 18 Sept I had the curry and my wife had the beef burger. Its under new management and a different team of staff. Disregard the old reviews this place was great. The staff were super nice they couldn't do enough for us and the food was absolutely delicious. We camp nearby regularly and I probably did myself no favours with this review because it will probably be booked out next time I come but deservidly so.

I. B.Great food and excellent service, we had the steamed mussels as a starter (shared), fish platter and mushroom risotto followed a sweet and Tia Maria coffee. We where not charged for one of the main courses but told them. How many other would have done that is anybody's guess.

We ate at Bates on a Sunday afternoon after a lovely walk in Avondale so we had our dog with us and the team at Bates went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable in the outdoor seating area, including bringing out cushions to sit on and chicken and water for our dog. The service was so friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. I am so happy that we stumbled upon this gem. We can't wait to return.
J. L.Nice little place in a little alley. The atmosphere is nice. Italian care that is quite tasty. The mussels and the poached pair blue cheese salad were very good. The broth for the mussels was outstanding. The neighbouring table had a rack of lamb that looked scrumptious. My pasta with porcini was not really what I was expecting but well executed. For dessert the creme brulee did the job of being creamy but having a nice burnt sugar on top. Nice place for a nice dinner.
D. C.My wife and I have eaten here many times over the years and I can honestly say that we have never left feeling anything but incredibly satisfied. The food, always a generous portion, has always been fantastic. Even as recent as last Tuesday we were there and enjoyed a two course meal each, a lovely bottle of house red all for €70. You would have to be terribly unlucky or unbelievably picky not to enjoy an evening there.
T. K.A buddy and I had lunch at the Coffin Shed and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I had the chicken curry which was excellent! My friend had the burger and skinny fries. We ate outside in a relaxed setting. Great place to go for lunch.
