Ordered a book for my Mam's birthday online. I emailed to check was it the version signed by the author. Got a quick response from Kevin confirming that it was and asking if I would like a personal message from the author! Book arrived on time with a lovely message birthday message to my Mam, which she was delighted with. Many thanks to Kevin (and John!) for the amazing service!

Nice shop. The man with longer hair usually at the front went out of his way to help me out on two specific occasions when I was living in the area which was much appreciated. The coffee shop in the back is a bonus and has good soup. Great overall vibe and nice curation.

You won't find a better independent store in Dublin! Great collection, has a nice old school feel and it's always fun to catch a word or two at the counter.

Cozy coffee shop hidden at the back of the bookstore. Fabulous customer service and a nice selection of foods (enjoyed the kimchi sandwich). Lovely place to go for lunch or to get something to go!

Great service from a local bookshop. Expedited delivery of a title for a present that was expected to come in the following week instead. Used to browse Fred Hanna's in Nassau St in olden days, now a regular here.

Always get a decent sandwich and coffee here. Bookstore is cool too. I'm assuming it's called bark because of the really friendly dog hanging around :)

Lovely, independent, good old fashioned book shop. Staff are friendly and willing to take the time to talk to you and listen to your interests and select titles for you based on your taste.
The cafe is consistently excellent, the sandwiches are delicious and fresh. I highly recommend "The Ham". Go, you won't be disappointed.

Cosy cafe inside a bookstore. Eclectic clientele but I liked the various seating corners from high chairs to booth seats to armchairs and regular chairs. Good prices for food served. They have wall & keogh teas!

Great shop. I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin at various book events and he's always a gent. I needed a batch of signed John Connolly books and he sorted it all out including very reasonable postage fees. Fantastic independent shop that also sells coffee. Couldn't ask for more.

Excellent book shop! I've been going here for years, great choice, lovely, attentive staff with a great knowledge and passion for literature. Great comic book and graphic novel selection too and there's a lovely coffee shop in the back of the shop now which every book shop should have :) Best bookshop in Dublin

I love this local bookshop! I avoid Amazon and buy Irish. The shop itself is a bit messy but once you see beyond that they are a delight to deal with. Thanks.

OK just to get the ball rolling here, I'll start things off with a completely unbiased review ;)
Great independent bookshop full of knowledgeable and (mostly) friendly staff. If they don't have what you're looking for then they'll do their best to find it for you.
Top this off with a loveable shop dog (Molly) and a cafe serving amazing sandwiches and 'proper' coffee at a price so reasonable you'll be throwing them tips at the staff.
Sure what more could you want?

Coffee shop at rear of book shop. Best cappuccino I’ve ever had! Stumbled across this cafe by accident. Delicious raspberry and choc muffin. Great prices, i had to check she’d charged me for both!

Supreme service. Havent been in this bookshop in years, used to be in all the time when i lived that direction. Made an online purchase of a maths book and they had a better idea of what it was i needed than i did myself and adjusted the sale accordingly, no hassle, no fuss, just a top class service. Cant rate them highly enough

One of Dublin's great bookshops, family run and packed with books of all sorts.
I've always enjoyed every minute spent here, you could browse for hours, a literal treasure trove for bibliophiles. The shop stocks books of all sorts from Sci-Fi and Graphic novels to Crime and Romance. Specialising in books by Irish authors and of Irish interest.
The guys in the shop are always on hand to assist and are more than capable of offering a few suggestions of books/authors that are worth a try based on your own taste. Never missed the mark for me yet on that one!
If you're the type that browses bookshops to exhaustion, the excellent Bark Coffee shop is full of restorative delights and the best coffee around.
Not only is Bark a great place for a perk up mid book binge, as an early morning pit-stop it's ideal. Well worth the quick diversion and beats spending those few minutes at the bus stop in the rain.

Absolutely love this place. It's a great Irish, family run book store, great selection and very helpful staff. It's a far better experience than going to any of the larger chains, so would highly recommend visiting hanna's. They've a lovely cafe at the back of the store, very chilled atmosphere.

I have just been to the most delightful bookshop, it was a joy to ramble around and peruse the fantastic stock. The staff were so helpful and friendly as was Molly the dog, than to cap it all off I went into the cafe at the back of the shop and had a great lunch. I will be back!!!

Great bookshop with a management team that really go the extra mile to get what you need. If you are ordering a book then go here, they've been around a long time and will only say no if it genuinely is impossible to deliver.

A great spot for lunch. Came here with my sister, niece and nephew and I was amazed by the quality of the food and the value for money - the meal deal of soup, a sandwich and tea/coffee for €8 is fantastic. Staff were very nice too.

Hidden gem - I have lived here for 6 months and never knew that there is a cafe tucked in the back of the book store. Had a cup of soup and sandwich - good value and well cooked :)

Very nice food made freshly to enjoy there or take away.

Hands down the best cuppa coffee in South Dublin and prepared by a trained barista (called Barra would you believe?!) who actually knows what he's talking about - refreshing in more ways than one. Healthy lunch grub that's easy on the wallet too. The cafe is in the back of the bookshop, so you can grab a book and a cuppa joe and chill the beans - pun intended!!

My favourite cafe in Rathmines!!...Friendly, welcoming, good humoured, chatty staff...Introduced my grandad to it a few years ago and it's his local favourite too...Staff know him well and he's at home there.
Delicious food and great range of teas, coffees and cold drinks...Cosy, bright, comfortable with relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

I've been away from Dublin for a while now and every week I still find myself wishing I could cosy up to a book and a pot of tea (with a mug please Bara) in this charming, friendly café.
My local and my regular for the better part of my Dublin life, you're always greeted with a smile and treated like a friend in Bark...if only I could find a Sydney equivalent
