Reviews of Hibernian Hotel
Friendly staff, Especially the receptionist and bar staff.
Very quick to accommodate my particular dietary requests.
The bar is comfortable.
Good range of quality bar food.
They are currently modernising the rooms, so there is no chance of sleeping in late ๐ Make sure you ask for a room away from the main "generator" room as it hums loudly non stop ! ๐
The pool and gym are the main attraction for me, but it is a maze to get to it from your room.
It is an old, charming hotel with beautiful art pieces...I particularly loved the huge metal hounds guarding the elevators ๐
Went for a few spa treatments and I was amazed at how good I felt afterwards. Lorraine is exceptional at her job and so kind. Can't recommend her enough. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. Thank you Lorraine
This hotel is clean .given the age of the place it is dated and there is up grading going on . We were in a room with the bathroom upgrade and it was lovely. Unfortunately the cold was air locked but the staff changed our room straight away no quibble and sorted us out. the breakfast was lovely , i had the full Irish and it kept me going for most of the day. The staff are very polite and friendly.
I though was a proper restaurant as Iโve seen the menu outside, but when I got inside the lady send me to a buffet restaurant without table service.
Notthe kind of restaurant I was looking for, but was nice and tasty. The staff also very friendly.
Marie and I were fortunate to recently have our wedding ceremony hosted by the HiB Mallow. Kieran and his wonderful crew looked after us magnificently. Kieran and his staff went to enormous efforts to ensure our and our guests every whim was seated. The cermony room was presented beautifully and the diningroom was absolutely magnificent. We had our entire day in the HiB and would highly recomend this venue.
Lovely simple rooms with everything you need. Top notch food and service. Lovely leisure centre with pool, hot tub, sauna etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a very relaxing stay and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended if you just want to relax and recharge the batteries.
Oh and a killer breakfast.
Its not a sleek ultra modern hotel, if you want that stay in Cork, if you want a clean, comfy, friendly hotel, good beer and good food then stay here
We were there at 2 45pm, soup n bread for 2, lovely and I dinner, fab. Much appreciated, Toilets pristine
Absolutely outstanding staff. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. All of the staff we encountered one was as nice and accommodating as the other. Excellent breakfast.
Amazing experience. Hotel rooms feels bit old in terms carpets, and interiors etc. But it tells the tale of time, a good hotel. Breakfast and dinner at this place was amazing.
Great staff
All through the hotel, nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back to the Hibernian hotel in Mallow.
Generating great employment locally is commendable but on observation all staff need to be trained in customer relations. Observed long delays for food orders and complaints from customers..Beer garden / cocktail area ,.extremely busy and well managed by cocktail barman while also training young staff.Roles within the hotel need to be defined, delegated and trained properly..as all staff appeared to be disorganised in all areas of the hotel..gym and leisure area efficient and friendly.
The friendliness & helpfulness of the staff cannot be overestimated. The receptionist Ciara looked after our booking & 9.30pm check in. She was helpful, efficient, chatty and a pleasure to deal with. Centre town location. Free parking is in public car park at back of hotel (due to Covid the public car park machines are not being used). The hotel itself could do with a bit of an update in parts but it is clean and well run. The pool and gym are clea & open from 6.30am (pre-book). The triple room (1 large double & 1 single bed) was warm & a decent size with comfortable beds & ensuite had a bath & shower. Cooked carvery breakfast served by staff (no need to pre-book). There is also a self service area for cereal and juices. I rang the hotel directly & was quoted โฌ20 less than on Booking.com. Sometimes ringing places directly gets you a better price & personal service. Beer garden at back looked really nice. We stayed on a Thursday without any noise issues. I don't know if it would be loud/noisy at night during weekends. Enjoyed our stay & would return again. Nice hotel, fantastic staff.
Great spot, myself and my wife stayed here for the weekend. We had a great time. food was really good, they had a lovely beer garden out the back of the hotel too, plenty of staff too. We can't fault this establishment at all.
Absolutely outstanding afternoon of a funeral in a function room staff outstanding service everybody is a credit to your Hotel could not praise ye highly enough fantastic ๐๐
Had a lovely time with 7 members of my family here we didn't go to the pool or gym but we all went to the spa and Lorrain the therapist was excellent I would just go to Mallow just to go to her ๐
Had a great break away. Staff was absolutely brilliant, Emily was great with the kids. We were very well looked after and felt so welcome. Food was amazing too!
Grand Hotel, friendly staff, food very good. Old Hotel, but good atmosphere. 9/10.I would recommend this hotel to friends, family. ๐๐๐บ๐บ๐บ
We held our sons christening in the Hibernian hotel and it outstanding. They could not do enough for us, staff were extremely helpful and friendly
and the food was beautiful.
Had a lovely 2 day stay, staff, food, pool were brilliant, but had a lil problem with the room..clean room but no ventilation at all, room seemed to have 2 sets of windows to sound proof the noise from the main street but unfortunately the smell in the room was horrible, and so so hot, had to get a fan from recption to keep cool and buy room spray in the local shop.. Hotel could do with alil updating, beer garden was lovely, I would stay again but not in room 42 ๐
We had a work BBQ event on Saturday 28th, and had the garden terrace to ourselves. Fantastic location, great food and most importantly a great time had by all.
We were on on Sunday 11 /07/2021 and we stayed for 3 days from Ashbourne co.meath. At first I was a bit hesitant of this hotel because of some reviews ..but because was hard to book elsewhere with summer holidays with kids . We totally loved our stay. Staff were amazing ..all of them.from reception to restaurant and cleaning staffs aswell were brilliant. Room was big and spotless. Whoever was extremely hot in the room and not being able to open window felt abit suffocating. Staff gave a fan which was extremely nice of them but didn't help much so we couldn't sleep the best during our stay ..but this would be a good complain over the winter . Rather than this everything was perfect and we would definitely come back again and suggested friends also to visit hotel.
Great place very friendly staff and has vegan options. Lovely beer garden out the back with a big screen.
Very comfortable rooms and lovely staff and restaurant.
Recommended.
Went for drinks with friends tonight. Great safety measures in place. Very friendly and efficient staff.
Stayed here Saturday & Sunday night ( gift from our boys for father's Day ). Whilst the hotel itself is dated, the friendliness and helpfulness of staff along with good food and clean rooms make us want to come back - thank you we had a lovely weekend
Location is great for this hotel....staff r brillant.....food is lovely...good hearty breakfast that u can eat in their restaurant....the downstairs section of the hotel are very nice but the corridors & rooms r very dated....decor could do with upgrade....our room had massive cracks in the ceiling & wall...our bathroom was a disabled bathroom looked like it had recently been done๐swimming pool was a bonus but the ladies changing rooms were grotty plus the hairdryers didnt work there....the gym is an extra plus too....1 really nice aspect to this hotel is their beer garden which booking a table is advised...nice water feature in their plus staff very helpful & friendly
Stayed in hotel for 2 nights Sunday till Tuesday morning and had a great time very clean and child friendly and there outside dining area was lovely including the breakfast and evening food. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again
Thank you.
Amazing hotel outstanding โค customer service would defo go there again
Good value but they really need more focus on cleanliness. My second visit has seen the hotel address this. A complete revamp. Newly installed plush carpet throughout. A quantum leap forward in the rooms. So modern looking now. Bathrooms are looking and feeling 5 star now. Very impressive ๐
We stayed two nights Fri,sat night hotel was spotless staff where brilliant could not do enough for you how ever a friend of mine I had not seen in 42 years dropped down to see me and was not allowed in as bar manager and duty manger said no under government rules when I informed them that there where 3men in the bar the night before locals on first name with staff where in the bar they turned very cold toward me its a bit double standard if my friend could not come in the bar it beggers belief why 3locals there in the bar however we still had a good stay and would return in the future
Stayed here of a thursday night in July..its an old hotel with a large bar area and dining room..the room I stayed in was on the first floor.a small room with few bits in the room needing fixing ..
Bath hot tap loose..a wire sticking up out of floor in the bathroom, tiles coming away from the wall.tiles chipped, radiator cover bent..over flow cover in bath broken..ceiling damage in bathroom, the room really needs upgrading...
Food..
I had burger and fries for my tea..the burger was fine..I would of preferred a round plate and some more fries for 16.50 euros...I also had warm apple tart with ice cream and cream..tart was little bit on the cold side but I enjoyed it..
Breakfast was lovely and the staff are friendly..there is some lovely pictures in the hotel with old chairs and a bronze dog on the first floor..
If your looking to spoil your partner then I'd give this hotel a miss but if your on a budget then this could be the place for you
110 euro paid for b and b plus evening meal and dessert..
Wifi was poor on the first floor..
Parking out front on main street..
Lovely staff..nice hotel..lovely rooms
Absolutely loved my stay there. Such a nice and spacious room, comfy king size bed, big shower, and an amazing view over the town. The christmas lights were on so it looked so pretty and scenic. Definitely coming back here again, and would especially recommend during december. Lovely staff at breakfast, who satisfied all of our needs, and were ever so kind. The breakfast has plenty of choice for cooked breakfast and continental. They even have pancakes and hash browns! Fell in love with this hotel, and worth the money. ๐ฏ๐
Friendly staff. Looks older outside but modern bar and rooms. Access to pool a bit odd going through the gym. Parking behind hotel was free. Spacious rooms. Food and portion sizes was very good. Breakfast was as expected from a hotel. 4 Stars.
Just been to Hibernian hotel great food fantastic staff homeley atmosphere will return
Fine hotel with a large bar that's good for watching sports.Sports complex with a pool also in the hotel.Cafe with a large menu selection, also a coffee bar at the front. Also has a seperate Blackwater Restaurant.Food was good, service was slow but that was down to being New Years day with less staff working.
Next visit was great with very friendly staff and brilliant tasty food. The Vegan Stir Fry was fab.
Latest visit, barfood only but was very tasty.
Latest visit October 2021,Covid cert needed to eat indoors, sanitiser by the desk & wear a mask till seated.Food ok,service was ok.
Nice hotel with outdated furniture. No pressure in shower at all.
Great food, staff very friendly and helpful, definitely would recommend. Kieran the manager could not do enough to help with our stay.
We loved our stay here couldn't fault anything, loved the food and especially getting drinks after so many months of restrictions and the swimming pool and jacuzzi was excellent
Only home from weekend in hotel had a,lovely stay hotel staff are so helpful and couldnt do eneough for guests im only over hip surgery and chap in pool was brillant went above and beyond only downfall was i had rang and explained i needed shower but a,bath was in my room so couldnt use it but id defo be back yo stay agaim food is amazing would highly recomend this hotel
Very enjoyable stay, great service.
Great staff, and delicious food
Called in at lunch time with the family including 2 small children. I ordered carvery & the kids & wife ordered off the main menu. The staff were extremely helpful. The portions from the carvery were very generous & the food was cooked excellently & tasted wonderful. The food offered off the menu was also plentiful & offered excellent value for money. Would highly recommend to anyone in Mallow looking to get something to eat at lunchtime.
Lovely food and drink here.
Went for a meal with 5 others , service was all over the place , food is very good , rooms are nice
Brilliant Hotel and great service I would recommend to all people looking for a lovely place to stay
Very good, staff were great, room was great. Enjoyed our stay and will be back shortly. Also parking is good.
Lovely carvery lunch and very nice staff
Room was perfectly serviceable and bed is comfy. Internet great. Service perfect. Food spot on. Room needs a socket by the bed for phone charging. Had best simple homemade burger in a long while, fries were awesome also tried the fish & chips. The batter was light and crispy and delicious. All portions are fair sized.
Everything great bar d restaurant Service
Super food and comfortable surroundings
Just stayed with the hibernian hotel for the second time and again it was a great stay. We were in room 56 which was a very large family room with a double in a semi seperate room and then a double single and travel cot in the other side. The only issue with had was that we had requested a large family room to accommodate our baby's quite large buggy etc but we had to pull the buggy up 2 sets of 5/6 steps to get to the room. We ate dinner in the bar and the food was just amazing and the staff friendly as usual. Great leisure centre too and good value for money.
My partner and I had lunch here today. The food was of a good standard but was severely let down by the chef handling the food that he was putting on our plates with his bare hands. So much for food hygiene!! Because of this I would definitely never eat here again.
Friendly staff & garden bar is top class
Very cosy, good for the price paid. Gym and pool nicely sized. Quite a clean place. Breakfast choice was good. Staff very nice and helpful. Had a bit of trouble with the shower in the room.
The staff were absolutely fantastic couldn't fault our stay
This is a lovely hotel with a relaxed atmosphre....staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Its location is perfect!! Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a great weekend.
Lovely carvery meal and great dessert
Stopped for food on the way home from Kerry very nice indeed.
A very handy hotel based in the town centre.
Parking is limited at the front, but there is a large spacious public car park at the back that is free after 5pm and on Sundays.
A lovely cafe, restaurant which is very popular with the locals.
The carvery lunch is excellent.
The fitness centre and swimming pool is of a very high standard, offering fitness programmes, a variety of classes and swimming lessons on offer. It also offers loyalty points . The quality of service is very good.
Lovely stay. Nice staff. Food was amazing. 100% would return here again. Great value for money!
Great swimming pool and gym, the blind in the room was torn, one bedside light was not working. You have the option of either going through a gym to get to your room or walking up a one way alley for cars approaching the car park , this was far from ideal with a three year old
Friendly staff...good food....only downside was the jacuzzi in the leisure centre was cold...apart from that all was good
Called here with my daughter and grandson. Had 2 mini breakfasts which cost 11.50
We were not told the tea was self service so we were waiting to get it a long time after the breakfasts arrived. Food was okay but a little disappointed about the lack of information
Good food and clean room
Lovely choice of food available, Contact details taken on admission to Hotel. Excellent Covid guidelines in place.
Friendly helpful Staff.
Girlfriend got stuck in Mallow after missing her stop.
We called around a number of places, the Hybernian had a room fairly cheap for super short notice (immediately).
Problem was my girlfriend wasn't able to get a taxi, no money.
The person at reception, Olivia, actually went out of her way to find a tenner in her own perse, then CALL US, to see if she needed it.
When my gf made it she gave her the โฌ10 anyway just to make sure she's okay!
It was an absolute pleasure dealing with the hotel and I look forward to going back on hopefully a less stressed trip soon!
I can't say much about the room as I wasnt there, but my girlfriend will probably post her on review.
Also just to gush about how much of a pleasure Olivia was to deal with :)
Thanks Olivia!
Service waa friendly and pleasant. Had a "Full Irish" breakfast which was OK. Standard hotel fare - not freshly cooked. Rashers and pudding were ok, the egg was overcooked and the hash brown and sausage were poor. Coffee was decent enough.
It's very hard to rate this hotel because it's in the heart of Mallow, very busy serving the community and travellers. It has a leisure centre all the facilities. I've stayed overnight once and thought the room was a little old but then it's an old building, so don't expect brand new.
One of the best carvery lunches ive had in ages. Everything was spotless clean food was brilliant tasty hot and plenty of it served by a very helpful chef
A real treat
Nice hotel friendly staff
Beautiful hotel and wonderful restaurant inside! I was having breakfast there when I had to leave suddenly. The manager stopped me and asked if I was OK; and then refunded my money for the unfinished meal! That's what I call service! I'll be back! A++
Called in yesterday evening & had an absolute beautiful meal for our supper 2 adults & 3 children we could not fault it from the menu choice, service & the food was excellent we will be back
Nice n clean food is good and the bar is very modern sadly the bar always seems to have a dull atmosphere but has all you need for your stay. Clean, nice staff good food lovely gym and pool plenty of parking and its bang in the middle of mallow town
We called in for to see the Munster match
....and a bit of grub.
...very nice ....good craic ... very nice food reasonably priced ...lovely staff.
...Munster team....very disappointing
.....Carberry got a massive hit in the first half
........should have been replaced by JJ Hanrahan...he cost us the match.
Great food good choice lovely hotel all around will visit again
Had a fabulous breakfast here with friends. Lovely food, very helpful and good staff. We all enjoyed it.
Great place in centre of Mallow town. Good for breakfast lunch and evening meals. Fresh dinners served daily by professional Chefs. Good staff. Good Bar. Child friendly.
Room was a bit small and the price of the food was very expensive
Great restaurant and leisure centre
Didnt expect much , after all it was "only Mallow" ,
Boy did i get a big surprise, the hotel and staff were amazing, a room i'd expect to pay twice what they charged. Staff that couldn't be more helpful.
The bargirl, Sarah, (brilliant) was very helpful and funny, even while dealing with a very rude customer.
When we asked where should we go for a drink in mallow, she told us about two pubs, the Ol' Fiddler ( like going back in time, and the craic and banter was great) and Albert Lynches ( great drink selection and amazing music). We also ate in The Gallery (great service and food was top notch)
So, if you're looking for a quick get away, i can't reccomend The Hibernian hotel enough, and Mallow (very surprised) is a pure diamond in the rough. So this isn't just a review of The Hibernian (which was amazing), but also of Mallow itself, we would go back in a heart beat.
Thank you people of Mallow
Martin Cullen
Lovely gym and staff unreal. Nice coffee dock as well. While another hotel took the name, the HiBi is as good as the town centre ๐
Great value for money.. lovely staff lovely food, clean room.. perfect stay..really enjoyable
Average hotel! The evening toasted specials with the 3 slice are a turn off though! Cant understand why they just dont leave the normal ones on all day and not just in the morning times!!
Hazel, Jennifer Tracy and Dan in the pool and leisure centre and many more I dont know names.. Good friendly staff make a Hotel and make staying pleasant and relaxing thanks again and we be back..I would recommend this hotel to anyone...Tom and Katie
Hotel was nice for the price staff could have been friendlier scowels on faces room was very dated only 1 plug in room no air conditioning was consider staying somewhere else next time
Grand hotel. Barman was spot on other staff were sound enough to. The room was Was basic and over priced in comparison to the plush hotels around the country.
We went here for some good coffee in the morning & the whole staff were very friendly a&they served an excellent cafรฉ latte! Clean big hotel & toilets!
It's in the town center. It's easy to get to. On street parking. But it's free post evening to early morning. Quite basic in nature seems to be an old building. Well maintained none the less.
On arrival we got a lovely welcome from staff and we were given a choice of two rooms, room was clean and comfortable bathroom also very clean, location is great 2 minute walk to the beach everything is close
Very well located, staff very helpful. The restaurant although not comfortable, the food was amazing and absolutely well presented.
Pleasant receptionist Stephanie. Breakfast was lovely. Clean spacious room.
Great hotel to visit. Friendly staff and spotless rooms. Parking was also a great bonus even though the train is near by.
Have stayed here many times over the past 16 years, always treated fair, rooms decent, breakfast always good, have also had dinner and it was pretty good.
Wonderful stay. Very friendly staff , who go out of their way to help. Would definitely recommend and go back xx
Great hotel. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Can't wait till the next visit.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They provide parking disc. Above all they have good food and a very neat room
Tidy and clean hotel with great breakfast and friendly staff. Leaking gutter and loud roof fans made noise all night though and the shower was just a trickle.
Lovely hotel in great location for touring. Great staff and food.
Very nice room, breakfast was tasty and Hazel and Tracey on the front desk were great... Thanks Ray and Margaret....

We had a wonderful stay, family room was excellent, great breakfast, nice pool and gym and helpful staff
Great hotel only problem here is short walk from public carpark about 3 mins walk to reception apart from that everything very accessible even for wheelchairs
Friendly people working at the bar. Good food served here in a cozy atmosphere.

Smashing new salad bar. Very reasonable 6.95 for a big bowl.

Very basic hotel. Clean, but basic. Lovely staff. Plenty of parking.
Lovely hotel, great staff always a pleasure to stay here

Good food , beef could have been cooked a bit longer ! Gets cold fast !
Great coffee bar now it's been redesigned. Service was great and coffee was good
Love staff food and room value for money
Nice food but it has got more expensive so I go there less often.
Basic and outdated rooms with next to no isolation from fellow guests - done staff are very friendly others are the complete opposite.
Staff excellent. Service excellent just not my type of food.
A friendly smallish hotel. Easily accessed within the town of Mallow. Reasonably priced.
Lovely staff..nice biscuits and cakes...not for coffee
Friendly staff and a clean establishment unfortunately the food has gotten worse over the years and it's just mass produced and tasteless
The rooms and staffvery nice

Go hiontach, chomh deas an ghaelainn a chlos รณ Emily agus foireann den scoth!
We stopped at the hotel cafรฉ for a cappuccino and tea. Almost historic but very beautiful hotel, rooms in excellent condition, toilets in excellent condition. I had a good cappuccino.
Comfortable, friendly staff, immersion in local life because despite the appearance of luxury, the entire population of this small rural town flocks to the bar or restaurant. On the other hand, it can be noisy on weekends. Regular professional stays in February.
Very good service and the establishment is very good, very clean and elegant. The town where it is located has a very good train connection with Cork City, which you can reach in 20 minutes and also with other cities of interest and especially with the capital Dublin in approximately 2 and a quarter hours.
Simple but nice house with good food and friendly staff. Inexpensive because it is not located directly next to Ireland's highlights. But a good location for excursions in all directions. For example to Killarney, the Rock of Cashel or Cork.
