Great spot for the family! The car park is located in front of the walled garden. We took a stroll through here and saw some of the largest pumpkins ever. The gardens are maintained by the OPW. At the side of the walled garden is the cafe and visitor centre. Did not eat here, so cannot comment on the food but it was quite busy on a Saturday morning.
Right in front on the cafe is a small castle/keep with a small maze garden around it, great for the kiddos. If you walk around the back of the visitor centre it leads to the playground. The playground is very well maintained and keep them busy for a bit!!
Beware of the coffee queue, it was 30 people long on a Sunday!

What a gem of a place - beautiful gardens, trees, walks. The visitor center tells the history of the area. The mature trees and gardens are so beautiful and serene. Coffees and snacks in the courtyard. Nearby picnic area.free parking too. There was outdoor yoga on the lawns when I visited. I could have stayed all day and soaked it up.

We were planning on going to feed the ducks in the little forest just after the first roundabout when you come in Castleknock gate. There was literally nowhere to park so we went to "Monkey Village" instead. The young kids love to climb in the big trees we didn't even get to the playground my youngest just loved the trees and seen so many squirrels 🥰
I don't understand why you can't park on the side of the road anymore, even in the parking spaces. I understand parking in the grass upsets the ground area but I'm going there since I was a kid and love bringing my own boys there I really hope they allow parking again soon.
Such a beautiful park and so well kept visitor centre is worth a ramble with the kids. Pics are only a fraction of the visitors centre there's playground and other things to see too!!

Beautiful heritage place in the centre of our capital city Dublin ❤ so tranquil, great scenery and lovely looped walks.
C. H.
Very busy on a Saturday. You can stand quite a while in the queue for a coffee, although the coffee is tasty

My favourite area to hang out in the Phoenix Park. The Cafe has amazing food and the best scones in Dublin. The walled garden is always well maintained and great to look at, as well as the beautiful trees.

The person working at the counter did not notice when we first walked in as she seamed to be too busy on the phone chatting to be able to help. Went out and walked around the near area and then after half hour 40 minutes went back to look for further information regarding gardens on way into park and to ask her thinking she would help this time she stopped us and asked us to sanitise as we did where ever there was a station and she asked us to sign a book and the went back to hiding behind a computer found her very unhelpful but overall the place was lovely and clean
M. J.
I enjoyed the love animals outside. Cafe next to the visitor centre is wonderful. There is free parking and toilets available.

Really nice free overview of the history of the park. The current exhibition about deep space fotography is also nice.

Very interesting people didn't realise that the Visitor centre exists but is free admission and is about the history of the Phoenix park. I strongly recommend a visit! There's a cafe in front beside have the small Ashtown Castle and the Victorian Kitchen Garden
B. W.
Breakfast bla in the restaurant part, was one of the nicest I have ever eaten, this is a lovely place, parking is plentiful at the right time, it's great to see senior citizens back meeting their friends there with their Deck chairs and catching up after the year in isolation, my daughter loves the play ground really good spot also, and the cleanest toilets for an outdoor venue, well done to All.
R. M.
One of my favourite places in the park to bring my son to the playground and have a run around the grounds. The playground needs a bit of work but other than that brilliant
A. G.
Interesting and entertaining visiting to understand the park history and heritage.
P. G.
It lifts my spirits even on a dull Monday to walk my dog here as she tries to catch up with the squirrels.
A. G.
Gorgeous, a hidden gem in the heart of the city.
I. F.
Great place to meet up with friends outdoors. Lovely coffee too!
A. A.
Lovely toasted sandwich, nice friendly staff. After waiting a while in the queue, the man behind me jumped ahead of me which was rude and he ordered and got served before me, but nobody seemed to notice
B. D.

M. H.
Great place to spend Sunday afternoon at. Especially with children.
A. R.
What a hidden treasure! Phoenix Park Visitor is much more, you have Medieval castle, brilliant interpretative centre, interactive displays for children, playground and lovely Cafe. Trees, open ground, seclusion, long walks, a great place for any family or group meet up.
C. B.
Really nice place. 4 stars maybe a tad harsh but sometimes you can be queuing for a while
Not anyone's fault it's just popular. They do have 3 areas serving coffee in fairness. Food is lovely. Veg, curry, pastries, salmon. Lots of lovely desserts. Maybe a tad pricey but hey, they have prime real estate so it's to be expected. Plenty of sweet treats. Coffee is nice. Location is idyllic, surrounded by trees and nature and a beautiful walled garden nearby. The courtyard is also lovely. Lots of little round wooden tables there and a great atmosphere. Parking can sometimes be an issue during busy times as the car park is open to the public. However, I've been lucky and have never had to circle the car park more than once looking for a spot.
l. e.
Great cafe in a fabulous location
T. D.

Lovely food,service a bit slow,
T. R.
Good food, but please bring back salads. Lovely a week ago but only carvery this week, doesn't suit all.
S. M.
Really lovely place to bring the family. Fantastic playground with so much in it for children of all ages, they also have a swing suitable for children with disabilities. The grounds of visitors centre are beautiful. There are picnic benches to sit around the trees and watch the kids play and there is also a lovely little cafe serving lovely lunches with outdoor seating. There is also a little coffee but too that serves drinks and ice-cream too. Well worth a visit.
P. L.
The coffee, food, grounds etc are really nice, but the people serving behind the counter are unbelievably slow... queues take forever to move. It’s been like this since long before Covid. It’s a pity because everything else is great. I usually go on Sundays so maybe it’s busier than normal, but still: queue time is awful.
T. M.
Nice place for families with young children theres small playground plus public toilets.. Also small take away cafe fresh soup sandwiches
C. y.
They always close very early, at any time of the year but nice place
D. B.
Nice place to bring kids. Loads of space for them to run around. It has an excellent playground too.
u.
A place to stop and rest while wondering inside the huge Phoenix park
G. K.
I was there for press conference. It's handy for parents who have baby's as it has changing rooms.
R.
Park was beautiful today. Easter weekend and was full of families. Really great spot. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend it to anyone to go and check it out. Some lovely walks throughout. Beautiful little coffee shack outside the restaurant as well. Outdoor and indoor seating available.
G. K.
Great coffee and yummy cake. We'll organised though no seating in cafe due to COVID regulations plenty of park benches nearby
c.
Interesting history of the park! Worth a visit.
P. D.
Great stop off in the beautiful pheonix park, Dublin Ireland, good coffee, nice selection of delicious food, to takeaway, or in better times to sit & eat in, visitors centre had lots of interesting stuff, kids will enjoy it too, plenty of space to walk & enjoy the outdoors, definitely worth a visit.
B. W.
It was safe, family friendly and precautions all in place.
J. K.
Great place to visit when Covids over. Cafe only serving outside but a good cafe with good variety of food
K. L. A.
Pure nature! Very relax and of course the animals the best!
P. W. C.
Let's me honest, the Victorian kitchen garden is superb.Visit the cafe for a outstanding food experience.Love the opportunity to purchase fresh vegetables in season. My favourite flower and Bumblebees are the Bishop series of single flowered Dahlia buzz gets a new meaning in the Summer glory of this amazing garden
V. A.
So much beauty in one place!
P. K.
I usually end up having a coffee, along with some granola (in summer) or seafood chowder (in winter) after a run in the park with friends. Staff are always really nice and accommodating and the food is delicious.
C. O.
Lovely area of the park with two coffee vans and a coffee shop. Several picnic benches dotted around to sit and eat. Plenty of parking just outside. Toilets there too with nappy changing facilities
B. F.
The food is of a very high standard, best vegetarian food at a reasonable price. The warm homemade scones are a very generous size and served with lovely home made jam. Their soups and home made bread is always adequate for lunch. Wonderful chefs. If you want to go for calories their cakes are exceptional. Well worth a visit that will lead to many more visits. Then the visitors centre is across the court yard, with historic information about the park and Ireland, the flora and fauna in the park.
My 3.5 year old granddaughter must always visit the centre and get her sticker at the door. Enjoy!!!
C. G.
The Interpretive Centre has three aspects:
1) The Cafe has beautiful meals and snacks but can be busy
2) The Interpretive Centre is a bit dated but has an informative video about the history of the park (there is an entry charge to this)
3) The grounds have a playground, a walled garden and a picnic area.
Well worth a visit and parking is free.
S. J.
The information centre is brilliant with easy to follow time lines and history of the Park and its many incarnations. With artifacts from earliest times to more recent history - it's all here. Big plus is coffee shop however weekends are manic!!
m. f.
Great place for a chilled out coffee or a bite of good food. Packed on such a beautiful Sunday with big queues.
D. R.
Well what a surprise, beautiful building, very nice walled garden, lovely grounds, perfect for a summer picnic (which we did, was brilliant) and lots of other things to do. There is a kids playground, seating areas outside and a lovely cafe that is well worth visiting.
The main building hosts an exhibition which is quite interesting and they also host other ad hoc exhibitions, we saw an equestrian exhibition which was small but very nice.
They also run a lot of tours from the visitors centre and they drive you from here to the location on one of their buses.
c. a.
Fantastic local amenity for an outdoor gathering. Nice coffee and food. Great playground
A. M.
Lovely clean grounds, great coffee!
K. R.
Always something (free) to do for adults and children in Phoenix Park, so well worth going into the visitor centre and asking. Nice little exhibits giving history of park too. Beside large playground, lovely cafe and Ashford castle so plenty around to do too.
J. O. N.
Nice coffee food is good and cakes yummy. Visit the walled garden. Look out for special promotional walks talks and guided tours. They are on posters so look carefully. Visit Áras an Uachtaráin, formerly the Viceregal Lodge, on Saturday only. Free but first come tickets when available.
T.
There isn't much to the museum itself. Just a bit of the history of the park. From the Neolithic period to modern history. Why I gave it so many stars though is what is around it. There is a cafe next door with a cobble stone courtyard with pretty good food although a bit pricey. There is a walled garden next door. Picnic area. A decent playground. Plenty of green spaces and trees for kids to play around. There is also free parking.
J. H.
Quiet, tranquil and relaxing with great coffee and delicious food
R. R.
The cafe here is amazing! Lots of homemade food on offer
f.
As others mention, the visitor centre is very small. So this review is its surroundings. The area is superb for all and the cafe is very good BUT VERY SLOW SERVICE if busy so queues can be long. I don't know why as all the food is prepped..
The play area is great and you are a short walk to Farmleigh house and gardens (which is brilliant and has plenty to see at weekend yimes) or the rest of the park which, in sunshine, is superb.
Bikes can be hired if you fancy a leisurely and safe jaunt, or admire the deer while dreaming of some fine venison for dinner😊.
P. C.
Can't beat this place on a weekend afternoon. Lovely setting, playground, trees for the kids to climb and nice food / coffee. Price for food and drink is a bit excessive and the queue is long
T. M. G.
Great coffee. McCabe roast is very smooth plus very tasty sandwiches
K. T.
Love this place! Great for kids too. Lots of space to run around and play, a lovely playground, gardens and cafe too. Great way to spend a sunny day
J. L.
Excellent food in cafe (kinda like Avoca), lovely staff, lots of seating upstairs & outside of cafe.
Good grass outside area for kids & playground, picnic benches, & indoor visitor centre if it rains (has history of Phoenix Park & some displays, lovely building).
J. W.
Pleasent fun day with my husband and grandson. We hav the playground and the maze for good outdoor fun and a walk around the walled garden for nanny and grandad. The restroom is needed to be freshed up and checked for toilet paper and soap. Lovely place for singels, couples and family.
F. C.
Love this quaint little coffee shop. They cater to various diets and have a wide variety of gluten and sugar free treats. Staff is polite and friendly.
K. N.
With no contest, one of the most beautiful park in a capitals of EU.
E. B.
Restaurant in need of makeover. Counter space too small, hard to see the nice food.
Needs proper air conditioning, fumes from kitchen always in the upstairs space when windows are closed in cold weather.
G.
Good range menu at sensible prices.
C. L.
Great spot for kids. Cafe quite expensive and always very busy but pack a picnic and you'll have a great time ...trees for climbing, space for playing, great playground and maze
m. m.
Staff are very helpful and the place itself is great. I enjoyed the upper level and thought the miniature phoenix park model was great to get my bearings.. enjoyed the film too...very interesting..
d. s.
Beautiful place and the kids loveed the playground 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
T. Q.
Delicious food here... Yum! And a nice wee spot in the courtyard to eat.... Or some tables outside.... Or get takeaway and sit on the grass beside the beautiful trees! One of my fav spots :-)
B. C.
Love it. The visitors centre and its surroundings have been a lifesaver during Covid lockdown.
C. M.
Lovely grounds, sufficiently good facilities.
B. F.
Had a light lunch at Ashtown Castle - not our first visit. Sat in the courtyard as it was a beautiful sunny Feb day - warm too. Self service only but food is good - fresh and tasty. Try it and you won't be disappointed. Plenty of parking too
H. M.
Nice place to have lunch or a cup of coffee. And let the kids run around the trees.also play ground which is safe and fenced in
V. F.
Beautifully sunny day, great crowd. Lovely gardens. The small gardens are better than the big feature gardens!!! More accessible and closer to real gardens.
Z. M.
Small visitor centre with where you can find plenty information regards the Phoenix Park. Nice cafe/restaurant where you can taste a big selection of pastry or lunch food or simply just get tea and coffee. Great surroundings including playground and picnic place.

G. G.
This Park has so much to it. I just discovered that just across from the Pop cross there is a group of trees and each tree has a plact with the name of the tides town on it.
R. H.
Can get a free tour of Aras an Uachtarain (President's House) for free on a Saturday. Get tickets inside the office then wait for the bus to drive you to the Aras. You cannot pre-book tickets. There is a small museum in the visitors' centre but it's not great. Cafe is also available but it's a bit expensive.
J. D.
Nice food but very long queues at the cafe
J. G. (.
Amazing cakes! And lovely quiches for a lunch break after a stroll in the park. Totally recommended. And customer service is class.
R. G.
They have an amazing exhibition. There was a cafe too, but we couldn't try that due to the long queues.
G. C.
Delightful garden and grounds with 2 cafes the pheonix and courtyard serving great coffee and treats.

Attended the tour of the Magazine Fort at 12 this afternoon, nearly 40 years since I first entered the gates of the Fort. The guide gave a great tour and explained about the history and particular locations within the Fort. The magazine Fort is a fraction of what it use to be, but the OPW have done a great job getting the place opened. Another gem for Dublin which should be turned into a museum showing what the fort was used for throughout the centuries. There are a lot of Historians within the Military Fraternity I'm sure would only be too glad to give advice and assist in getting the Magazine Fort back to its pristine condition. I enjoyed the tour immensely and I would like to thank the OPW for the great work that has been carried out. The tours are only on the Friday's & Sunday's but perhaps in the near future it could be opened for mid week tours. I hope to visit again a see the progress that is being done there. A moment in time, captured, saved and treasured. Keep up the great work see yiz soon.

(Translated) You have to prepare physically for this park. It was a nice ride in a perfect setting!
We had great weather so we could enjoy until dark.
We also had the chance to see the deer that roam freely in the park. Several groups wander in the park so we can cross often!

With an 11km long surrounding wall, the 1750 hectare park is home to attractions and guarantees at least a few hours of entertainment. There are many walking and cycling routes for the public. The park is open all year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

(Translated) You can visit the small visitor center for free. There is also a small cafe, in good weather you can also sit on the terrace. You have to serve yourself. It takes a long time to be served. There are very delicious cakes and small dishes, such as pies, quiche, etc. Everything seems to be done with love. In front of the cafe there is also a small kiosk and toilets, which can be used free of charge by all visitors. Furthermore, here is a beautiful flower garden.

Vor dem Cafe gibt noch es auch einen kleinen Kiosk und Toiletten, die von allen Besuchern kostenlos benutzt werden können. Weiterhin ist hier noch ein schöner Blumengarten.
