Lovely location, with great history attached.
Unfortunately the light house was closed for renovations,
Well worth a visit.
J. O.
Lovely scenery, spectacular cliff views. Opportunity to see sea birds & you might spot dolphins in the distance...
Nice open spaces for walks. Good carpark. Interesting historical info on the notice board. Light house closed to visitors at present. July 2020
J. D. (. M.
Amazing! Nice walk around the cliffs edge with loads of scenery, great place for dolphin spotting too. Scenic drive to get there too
J. S.
Lovely place, wild and beautiful. The light house is closed but you can wander around. You can really feel nature at her best. The scenery is amazing and you can go near the cliff edge, but I wouldn't recommend getting too close. We walked all the way around the light house and it was definitely a runner / walking shoe kind of place. The only thing I would say is that there are no toilets (not saying there should be) so just bear that in mind when heading out.
D. Z.
It's ok but there are better places (like Kilkee). It's often windy there.
J. C. -. s. h.
The tour is great (70 steps up to the top of the lighthouse) and the walk around (about 30 mins) is lovely. Absolutely loved it here, staff all so lovely. Exhibition is a bit small (compared to Fanad Head Lighthouse for example) but still interesting.
S. E.
Lovely to go up the lighthouse, the guide was great, very friendly and good with kids and adults alike. Great views from the top and the guide was able to explain the surrounding buildings and Eire made out of stone. Only thing is it's cash only, I think it was about €20 for a family ticket - but there was a lovely gallery /cake shop not far down the road that does cash back, and meant we had an excuse for cake and a cup of tea first!

just drive up to the lighthouse and park. there is a trail that leads to some of the most spectacular coastal scenery. a bit dangerous, be careful! the day we went had magnificent monster waves. you can walk around cliffs for free there is a small charge for lighthouse well worth it The view from the Balcony - at the " Summit " is wonderful. also, nearby is the bridges of ross - also stunning coastal scenery and a natural bridge over the surf, and also free! better experience than the incredibly commercialized cliffs of moher!
S. A.
Stunning place. Dont go if the weather is bad
J. T.
Nice lighthouse, just for few euro entrance fee, if you are fan. But one thing is absolutely must. Cliffs. The most romantic and nicest in Ireland, for me. Éire as expected. I love that place. ☘️💚🌊
G. Q.
Great experience visiting there. However, it's a pity it's not developed like Hook Lighthouse in Wexford. Would be a great tourist attraction in south Clare which seems to be the poor relation of it's Northern sister.
M. K.
Love the Loop. Kerry, Shannon estuary, Atlantic ocean, cliffs, sea stacks, sea birds and some world war 2 history. Need to see more?
If you do travel a little north to the amazing Bridges of Ross.
J. D.
Rugged. Mad scary cliffs and stacks. ÉIRE rock sign from WWII. Free to park and walk around headland, but mind small children! Cycle racks.
Cycle the quiet roads from Carrigaholt to here for an afternoon out with fit teens.
E. A.
Unique place with very nice people as guides. Dolphins spotted from tower and a baby sea lion as well. Wonderful sunny afternoon spent in mother nature ❤ :)
A. Z.
One of my favorite places. Never went to lighthouse itself but i think you can get a tour inside. Advice for people with kids, there's no any kind of barrier so keep your kids near you.
I.
Loop head was a nice lighthouse to visit. We went in the tour and it was very enjoyable. The lady doing the tour was very nice and made the tour fun for the kids
t. b.
Lovely location on the rugged wild Atlantic way ...but as always ..closed ...I wonder does it ever been open
My last trip here was 3 years ago and it was closed and yet again ...closed
I know it's under renovation..but still
J. H.
Wild Atlantic Way Lighthouse at Loop Head Co. Clare. Beautiful landscape, great clifftop walks, fantastic sea views including Brandon Mountain and the Blasket Islands to the south.
c. k.
lovely views. great car park.
T. J.
Beautiful place for a walk and to take in the scenery. The lighthouse is currently closed. There is plenty of free parking.
R. P.
Not that crowded, very nice place to visit. Depends on the weather as we couldn't spend a lot of time here. There are no shops around so plan your trip ahead with snacks. Good views.
F. G.
Absolutely beautiful peninsula in west Clare. Highly recommended for a nice scenic drive. Lots of picturesque cliffs and villages to see enroute to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself was closed when we were there, but it was still wonderful. Highly recommend this for a day trip.
R. M.
Great spot. Really well run. Staff are great, Super friendly, very informative. Really worth visiting while in the area. Great value!
t. t.
Worth a visit as long as the weather is good. Beautiful drive along the coast.
S. A.
Great lighthouse but wow was it off the beaten path. There were some great views though!
M. C.
Awesome experience visiting this light house. The area is so beautiful it's a must visit !!
C.
Wonderful place to sit and watch birds and dolphins from the shore.
Awesome lighthouse - very friendly people from the Irish Landmark Trust guide you around.
M. M.
Absolutely beautiful place to see but hold on to your kids! The cliffs are very dangerous and it can be very windy. You can be blown away with a gust of wind.
S. M.
A must visit if in County Clare. Lovely coastline and really gives one a feel of the Wild Atlantic Way.
P. T.
Worth a visit. Much quieter than Cliffs of Moher
A. W.
Was closed but fantastic walks, make sure you see the "EIIRE" signal
M. L.
A drive that is worth it for stunning views
d. w.
Lovely to see somewhere that you hear about in the news all the time, quite windy on the day we were there
I. C.
Great off-the-beaten-path gem. Take the lighthouse tour for a few Euros. Guides are super friendly. Walk out to the cliffs. Good family excursion.
E. A. D.
Great views of Atlantic ocean and the river Shannon intresting history
O. M.
Stunning natural area with great views of the west coast and seabirds, including sites of nesting fulmars and dolphin pods in the water below. We set up for a picnic and had a lovely walk at the top of the cliffs. Great outdoors activity for a couple of hours.
m. o. g. (.
Very nice view and nice to see the waves coming in.
M. M.
A few euro for a light house tour. Still had great views from the cliffs edge where you can walk all the way around.
S. T. M.
Great views! But don't go up on a windy day ha ha
S.
Amazing working lighthouse. What a great view over the Atlantic Ocean.
T. K.
Beautifull place and lookout, better choice than Cliffs of Moher
P. F.
Great place on a dry day. Interesting history.
D. G.
Well worth a visit, fabulous views of Clare and Kerry coastline
H. K.
Beautiful and big lighthouse. There's a charge for going here. as a small museum. You can climb to the lighthouse tower. the scenery here is spectacular. You can also listen to the story of the staff here. on the sea side there are visually beautiful cliffs.
M. K.
I recommend not entering the lighthouse area as it is pretty much just a waste of money. The view from the very tip of the promontory is absolutely amazing and free. I do not recommend coming here with little, young and over excited kids as they might end up running off the edge since there are no fences at the edge. There is also a small bit of land where you can see seabirds nesting which also makes for a nice experience. I definitely recommend coming here but not for the lighthouse visit.
H. H.
Right on the end of the peninsula, fantastic views from the cliffs.
S. M.
It’s a long drive but the scenery is certainly worth it. In the winter is is very windy so be careful near the cliffs.
We were there I. November but the light house was not open for public entrance. This is a real pity as I would love to have seen it. Perhaps having some opening hours at weekends during off peak would be nice.
Certainly worth a visit to this part of Ireland. Wonderful.
D. H.
This is a very nice place to visit . The actual lighthouse is closed this year so you can.t get onto the grounds of the lighthouse There is a nice walk all around this area and ideal place to cycle as the roads are quiet.
B. H.
Nice destination with parking and your guides during the tourist season- worth a trip even when the lighthouse is not open as you can walk the headland and see the Eire sign originally installed during WWII to help pilots navigate- there's no real food so bring your own or plan to eat locally in Kilbaha or elsewhere on Loophead.
M. M. J.
Beautiful and calm surroundings. We couldnt go inside the lighthouse due to covid restrictions but the surrounding is beautiful. A great view of the ocean and Shannon river ❤
R. T.
The best thing about this place is not in the lighthouse, but around it. It is possible to walk a lot and have wonderful views without having to pay the lighthouse ticket. It has no public restroom and no restaurant or café, so go prepared.
H.
Wonderful, the little museum is nice to visit, but tbh main attraction here is the amazing walk around loop head and the view of the cliffs. Come here early in the morning and you only havd to share the looks with the birds. Fantastic and impressive.
J. M.
Another one of Irelands beauty spots amazing location we were there on a lovely sunny day, we absolutely loved it.
J. H.
Had a lovely walk with beautiful views would highly recommend a visit to loophead lighthouse
M. H.
Beautiful Tourist attraction. A lovely scenic place to unwind & not far from the Bridges of Ross - another peaceful & scenic place & have a picnic.
D. W.
An unexpected birthday treat during a holiday. Sadly, the lighthouse wasn't open to the public when we went - but it's worth the drive for the breath-taking scenery alone. The cliffs are stunning; and the lighthouse is an absolute beauty!
M. F.
Very interesting tour. Well worth a visit if you're in West Clare. There's a great view and a lovely walk can be taken around the peninsula.
C. M.
Very nice attraction out at Loop Head. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered plenty of questions. There is a small exhibition about the history of the lighthouse and Irish lighthouses in general. You can walkabout around the lighthouse too towards the shore if you wish. Well worth a visit. The one thing that should be added is a proper shop, the only refreshments are available from vending machines.
L. O. C.
Lighthouse was closed so will have to return again to visit. Wonderful walks and views along the cliffs
P. M.
Great views on a clear day, we could see the blasket islands to the south and the aran islands to the north the day we went. Reasonably priced at €5 per person and this includes a quick history tour and access to the lighthouse. Toilet facilities on site were clean. Staff was very pleasant. If you dont want to go in there is a nice walk around the head along the cliff
A. S.
A beautiful stop on the wild Atlantic way! Be careful of your footing and wear very grippy shoes, but a great place to grab some awesome pictures, especially if the Atlantic is having a wild day.
p. m. M.
Loop Head light house
On the wild Atlantic way , it's a small bit of a drive but it was worth it family of four is €12 which includes it tour on the Lighthouse there is also a visitor centre the staff are very helpful and informative there is a small shop for snacks there is also a walk outside the Lighthouse area to the Cliffs the visit including the tour and walk around takes about 2 hours it's important the weather is good to really see the site there are toilets on site there is also wheelchair accessible toilet had a great visit keep up the good work. Use Google Drive to help you get there.
M. C.
If getting away from the crowds is high on your priority list, this is the place to go.
It's somewhat out of the way, and involves driving down country lanes, but it's so worth it.
On a nice day you get fantastic views of the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, the Shannon estuary and of the Dingle peninsula.
R. V.
Beautiful place! I'm hoping to visit again when the doors are open, but even from outside it was nice to see!
M. S.
Great place to visit, pity lighthouse was closed but the view was anyway breathtaking. Good carpark too, also space for campervan
S. D.
Beautiful location. Saw dolphins from the cliffs there. Great guided tour, with a fantastic view from the top of the lighthouse.
S. S.
Lovely place... Worthed going....the entire peninsula is fantastic. If lucky you can spot dolphins and minke whales!! Killed is a must visit place too. Enjoy the peninsula guys!!
L. t. L. D. t. D.
Went on a guided tour of the area around the lighthouse describing how the area came to be like it is today. Fantastic guides explaining the tectonic actions that created our great little country. 👍👍
P. M.
Very picturesque and great views off Kerry
G. C.
Lovely location but lighthouse closed to public because of Covid 😥. Great place to visit and take in the Bridges of Ross and Dunlickey drive back into Kilkee - stunning 👍
A. M.
One of my favourite places on the planet. I stayed here when my dad was a keeper a long long time ago. It feels like the end of the earth and brings back great memories for me!!
S. H.
Just stunning.Well worth a visit. Wonderful view from the top.Such a pity that it isn't marketed as much as the Cliffs of Moher.Staff were fantastic. Not to be missed.
p. d.
Misty the day we went but nice enough. €5 entry for adults. The display/ information rooms were a bit hokey and could be improved. Brief tour to the top of the lighthouse/ viewing deck is included in price. The staff were very friendly/ helpful.
A.
Lighthouse was closed on 29 Jan. But still nice walk, even on a rainy day. beautiful scenery and empty wilderness.
D. M.
Amazing attraction. Very friendly guides and the views are amazing. I would rank this as a must see on the WAW, was really impressed. Place is excellent value and great that it is restored and open. Really nice views and just something a little different.
B. O. S.
Nice place to visit and is still an active lighthouse although not manned since 1991. Some nice views from the top of the lighthouse as the bottom of lighthouse is already 60ft above sea level.
P. B.
Scenic, wild, interesting, windswept, empty, great views, but the lighthouse toilets were closed on 27 dec, not good for visiting females or children
G. T.
Wow gorgeous place to visit. The scenery is breathtaking with views that go on for ever.
t. h.
Our Host Ryan at Balally House B &B recommended this as our first stop up the coast. Loop Head is An Amazing piece of history. Our tour guide did a first rate job on our tour. She is very knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. The views surrounding the lighthouse you just cant get enough of them. The walked around the cliffs reminding ourselves. We're in the Wild Ireland we always dreamed about. Feeling both satisfied to be there and knowing our loss when we leave.
T. T.
Beautiful place. The guide was super kind and friendly. The views from the lighthouse are amazing. There are nice places to stop to take photos and eat arround this area.
O. N.
Beautiful place to walk around. Nearly always see dolphins around the shore. Plenty of bird life, including Irish choughs, plovers, guillimots, razorbills, fulmers, kittiwakes, etc
M. M.
Good to get a chance to go up an actual Light house
D. E.
Crowdless. Beautiful view.
F. M.
Absolutely a fantastic place, a must visit spot for locals and tourists. The view was breathtaking from the top and the nearby bridges of Ross topped up the visit. I'd definitely suggest everyone to visit loop head.
P. R.
Outstanding experience. Steven the guide was brilliant and knew his stuff
G. D.
If you like rugged this is the place to be. Shannon estuary on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Visit to the lighthouse very interesting. Spectacular scenery.
T. J.
Nice views. Tour is short but still good. Cliffs are lovely if you didn't want to do Cliffs of Moher. Views are just as good
S. H.
One off the most beautiful place lovely scenery and lovely walks. And so peacefully.
T. L.
Unique experience to go up a lighthouse via guide with excellent history. Views from top are great, but gets gusty up there so access is closed in winter months.
L. Q.
Super spot, a must see, friendliest guides in Ireland.
S. G.
Incredible natural site with awesome views. Don't spend money for the light house, the walk outside is free and worth 100 times more the cost 😉
M. G.
Fab views. Less commercial than cliffs of mohar. Still spectacular. Beautiful lighthouse. Lovely walk along the edge.
R. C.
Fantastic walk along the cliffs. Very few tourists, but a lot of great scenic views similar to the cliffs of moher. Highly recommended!
S. R.
Excellent place to visit. Really enjoyed it. Great that we could go to the top of the lighthouse
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
M. H.
Nice spot to watch seagulls breeding at the cliffs and to enjoy the view from the lighthouse. The short tour was really informative.
G. S.
Long way out but worth it.
j. w.
We've stayed at this amazing lighthouse in 2004. You can book a stay in the former light keepers house. Bank holidays are very popular so make sure you book in advance.
On route to the lighthouse you pass a bar with the sign: Keating's ' the nearest bar to New York'. Probably not entirely true but for sure it's remote ;)
A. C.
Beautiful, calming place ♥️♥️♥️
A. K.
Awesome piece of history on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is a short drive to get to, but well worth it. The tour is quick and very informative and the view from the top is great.
K. M.
Beautiful example of a traditional lighthouse set atop the cliffs on the west coast of my favourite place Ireland 🇮🇪
O. T.
I feel like I have to travel through Ireland.
G. R.

Great place to visit. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable. We visited on a beautiful clear day with views up and down the coast to Kerry, Clare, Galway and the Islands.
M. B.
Have visited this site several times but this was the first time we were able to actually tour the lighthouse....so enjoyable !!!
A. F.
It the west coast of Ireland. This is what heaven looks like. It exciting, beautiful, dramatic all a once. The weather good and bad only add to it. Be prepared for both.
A. B.
Lovely place to go for a stroll and the views are pretty amazing. The information center is really informative as is the guided tour.
M.
Smashing views, can be quite windy but sure lookit, tis grand
r. f.
Great coastal road drive. Can't go into the lighthouse grounds, just around loop head.
M. W.
Brillant place to visit, amazing scenery... had a brillant tour guide who was a fountain of knowledge!!! followed off by a walk around the top... brillant place to visit with kids!
p. o.
Have to say, bit disappointed. Does it really take 4 people to manage a lighthouse that takes less than 10 minutes to tour? Two people would definitely be enough there. No discounted rates for OAPs? As a family and 1 OAP we were charged €17 for spending about 20 minutes there. bit oirish
m. b.
Great walks along the cliffs beside the lighthouse. Good views of the Shannon estuary and accross to Kerry.
C. K.
Fantastic views all around from the top of the lighthouse and very friendly and knowledgeable guides.
R. F.
Better than the Cliffs of Moher as an experience. Fewer people and no fences !! but rugged with strong winds coming off The Atlantic.
M. M.
There is a small exhibition, which shows the past and some interesting stuff about the lighthouse.. The tour was interesting and some fun..
A. N.
It's a beautiful place, just a pity it was closed when we were there but the views, just breathtaking!
m. f.
Nice maybe better on a clear day
R. N. L.

s. m.
Beautiful, seenic, peace and tranquility, nice walk with fresh Ocean breeze
S. O.
A must visit, and will make you want to visit more light houses of Ireland.
A. D.
A wonderful place to visit. Wet & windy to begin with, less wet and more windy as
M. J.
A very insightful museum to all lighthouses in Ireland, Loop Head is a testament to the advances in Engineering over the past few centuries, with a guided tour of the lighthouse itself on offer for €5
S. B.
Loop Head light house was closed for renovation but we walked around it and it was beautiful.
J. W.

A. F.
It was closed due to covid 19. But still great views.
P. H.
Only opened to public in Last few years. A must to see a working lighthouse. You can still see the eire sign marking out in stone from second word war
S. B.
It was a wet day so didn't see much. We enjoyed the drive
J. d. l. H.
Good place in the Wild Atlantic Rout to visit, however the exhibition could be better. The staff was quiet professional
P. D.
Fantastic scenery over looking the Atlantic ,a bit breezy up on top😉🙂☘️
A. F.
Great views from light house and exhibition rooms to visit also. 🤣🤣
E. L.
Didn't get a chance to visit the actual lighthouse, but the area surrounding the light house is gorgeous!
I. Z.
Go to the 'hanging gardens' south of the lighthouse... Spend hours watching the sea and the dolphins from the terrace (ask at the Kilbaha Gallery how to find it)

(Translated) If the lighthouse is temporarily closed, walks and discovery of the cape are possible and offer exceptional views of the cliffs, the sea and the countryside.
We also observed a small colony of seals there.

(Translated) People come to Ireland to see the beauty of nature at its best! At the head loop a beautiful green meadow plunges headlong from vertiginous cliffs into the deep blue of the ocean. Creepy! All seasoned with a pinch of history to increase its charm
(Original)

(Translated) I have no idea how many peninsulas and islands with stunning views there are in Ireland. A lot in any case.
Loop Head in County Clare at the mouth of the Shannon is one of them.
You can have a wonderful walk on the cliffs and - as in so many places in Ireland - enjoy the light show on the rocks and on the sea. And you can visit the lighthouse there. Formerly manned (with the necessary accommodation for the guards and his family, now a museum).
And what could be nicer than walking in beautiful weather with the cliffs - except for the birds of course - almost for us alone.
(Original)
Veel in ieder geval.

(Translated) A beautiful view of the Atlantic. Unfortunately, I find 5 € for adults and 2.50 € for children up to 14 years not necessarily well laid out. But is a matter of taste. The way is worth it anyway. Parking is available
(Original)

(Translated) When I visited, it was raining a lot and the lighthouse management India today is not so good weather, so if you visit next time you will see better scenery.
I was frustrated and I wanted to go back and look around the lighthouse.
Wildflowers and grasses fill the fields, and the roots of the plants are so full of ground that they are very fluffy.
It was rainy and the view was very narrow, but it was impressive enough scenery.

(Translated) How beautiful and quiet it there. No mass tourism and in our opinion many times more beautiful than the Cliffs of Moher! Visit the lighthouse (very nice people) and then walk a nice round along the cliffs. You may see dolphins swimming, but you will see countless birds anyway. Take the time to just stare in front of you and / or take a treat to have lunch there. In any case, we enjoyed it !!!
(Original)

(Translated) We stayed here a few years ago during our tour of Ireland by mountain bike.
That dull and rainy August day after having passed the town of Kilkee and walked the beautiful coastal road with a view of the beautiful Kilkee Cliff we continued on our way to this lonely and wild area dominated at its extreme tip by a beautiful lighthouse.
For those who love wild nature and silence, this is a place outside the classic tourist routes that absolutely deserves to be visited !! If you were lucky enough to find some sunshine, it would become unforgettable !!
(Original)

(Translated) Easily accessible by car. Free parking. Absolutely recommendable: coastal hike around the lighthouse of just under an hour. This offers a fantastic view of cliffs, breeding grounds for seabirds and the Atlantic.
In my opinion, a visit to the lighthouse is not a must. Many tourists seem to think so. The cashier was definitely bored and was not particularly friendly because of this attitude.
(Original)
Mit dem Auto gut erreichbar. Gratisparkplatz.
So denken offenbar viele Touristen.
A. F.
(Translated) Nice walk around the head in front of the white lighthouse. On the rock facing detached from a dozen meters from the mainland can see the nests of many sea birds that nest there. If you are in the right season you can watch the "mothers" who feed their chicks. If you bring a modest telescope better.
(Original)

(Translated) It's hard to describe such places.
I would highly recommend! It's best to go around everything from the lighthouse. He receives speech everywhere along the way. If you're in Ireland, you must go to the cliffs!
Normally you need to shoot the weather;)

Gorąco polecam! Najlepiej objechac wszystko od latarni morskiej. W każdym miejscu po drodze odbiera mowę. Jeśli jesteś w Irlandii to musisz jechać na klify!
Standardowo trzeba ustrzelic pogodę;)

(Translated) The lighthouse is a great destination and you also get some information about the tower while being led upstairs. It was quite rainy when I was there and it was a strong wind but that did not detract. The landscape is very impressive and an experience especially when the sea is rough. Above all, the place is not so crowded.
(Original)

(Translated) The headlamp hunt is always exciting. As it is not a tourist destination or a popular destination, there are no problems with crowds, queues or overcrowding. The road is beautiful and when we see that tip of a lighthouse emerging from a mystical landscape, the heart for a little bit. Just remember to check the opening hours. When I went, it closed at 5 pm and it cost 5euros to enter the lighthouse, so go prepared too. All the great lighthouses in Ireland charge for visitation. For me it is very worthwhile as it is a unique experience!
(Original)

(Translated) The cliffs to the right of the lighthouse are very fascinating, worthy of being immortalized with photographs that enhance their harshness. Too bad that in the winter period the site cannot be accessed because it is closed. However, it is worth it for the road traveled to reach it.
(Original)
