Really beautiful place, staff was kind and the food was amazing. The only thing I wish they could have told me is that If I book the afternoon tea after the spa I get discount when changing it for bar food. I had to paid without discount. Other than that brilliant

Spent the afternoon at the spa and it was perfect! Got a last min package for the spa, increadably good value! From our first step in to our lest step out everyone was super professional and friendly! Plenty of time in the thermal suite which was clean, warm and always attended and not too crowded. Our treatments were fantastic and therapists were just brilliant! Really impressed! Highly recommend, the spa team are just wonderful!

Stayed here for one night recently and found the overall experience to be fine though nothing special (I didn't go to the spa). The hotel has amazing sea views and is only a short walk away from the beach should you get the weather to explore. The hotel and rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious with nice touches between courses like sorbets and amuse bouche.

Having experienced many delicious high teas over many years I can honestly share that this was the worst value! Staff and ambience were lovely just feel management cut too many corners!

We stayed at the shandon as a family of 5 for 1 week in August. I am leaving a 5 star review for the hotel but mainly for the staff. They are so kind and caring and went out if their way to make our stay enjoyable. A special mention to Emma who went above and beyond. I had an accident and ended up in hospital and the staff were so helpful to my husband and kids. The hotel rooms were clean and had a beautiful sea view. The pool was visited many times and the staff were so accommodating at changing times if necessary. The breakfast was one of the best I've even had..... especially the wheaten bread. We ate In the bar restaurant several nights and had very tasty meals. Both adults and children. Thank you again to the fabulous staff for making this holiday the best it could be in the unfortunate circumstances of my broken leg Philip, Esther Gribben

What beautiful surroundings for an amazing hotel. A lovely small cove beach at the bottom of the driveway up too. The pool was great, the kids had a blast and great to get them back into "swimming" again. We enjoyed the date night package (plus kids) and the meal was in the restaurant upstairs with a 6 course experience. Staff were so lovely and very helpful. And breakfast was lovely too. I would definitely come again without the kids to really appreciate all that the hotel and spa has to offer. Very child friendly. We stopped at Ards forest Park on way home and that was a treat in itself. Well worth the visit.

The Shandon Winter Wonderland experience was just everything and more for my family. I have been before on a couples stay and the venue is breathtakingly beautiful with picturesque views and delicious food. We knew we would have a great time but we were completely blown away by the organisation of the Christmas themed events, the attention to detail and the attentiveness of all of the staff and crew. Santa Claus visited our room and his interaction with the kids was fantastic, they shared really humorous and memorable conversation and just loved their gifts. The decor in all of its elegance, makes for a beautiful setting for relaxing, having drinks and coffees by the fire. Such stunningly tasteful ‘miss en scene’ that characterise and elevate this beautiful venue. What a wonderful interior. Donegal is such a beautiful county and the view from the Shandon might be one of the most beautiful picturesque backdrops it has to offer. Tranquility, landscape, water and serenity all at once. We are still in a daze and have such beautiful and special memories to hold and share as a family. We want everyone to enjoy a piece of Shandon so we will definitely be spoiling our family with the Christmas gift offering this year. Looking forward to our next visit! Next to be tried is the Shandon Spa it looks marvellous. Food-Amazing Shopping-in Letterkenny which is accessible and has lots of Independant stores Walking and Hiking nearby Beachfront

I can not recommend the Shandon Hotel and Spa enough. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner was amazing. The view from our room was Breathtaking. My daughter and I had a lovely stay and I can't wait to visit again.

Had a lovely morning's spa with family and friends. After Bernard's review I was anxious that this would be a big disappointment but was more than pleasantly surprised. The staff member showed us around, explained all the features etc, not the usual explore for yourself. The outdoor hot tub was limited to 20 mins which was fine as in many other facilities-a group will hog it. Good selection of jacuzzi, steam rooms, heated beds etc. Fab view from pool and hottub areas. Only downside-no shower facilities afterwards because of covid restrictions. We opted for afternoon tea for extra €10,- wow what a spread! After initial hiccup getting coffee and tea orders right, they brought a selection of filled croissants, bagels and wrap and a tiny mug of soup, all very tasty. They then brought a 3 tier cake stand with 8 scones and petit four for each of us! All delicious and beautifully presented. All in all, lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon, especially with unpredictable Donegal weather. good value for money. Will definitely be back!

A Bank Holiday weekend well spent! The Hotel is Beautiful inside & out. Dinner & Cocktails in Beats Bar..SO GOOD!! We went for a package deal with Spa & treatments included, very relaxing. The receptionist Emma at The Spa was so Helpful, very Friendly and Professional. Had my hair done by the Wonderful Nicola in the Salon, very friendly & got just what I asked for 😊 Can’t wait to get back here again soon.

We had a fantastic day here after a very long year under covid restrictions. The spa was just bliss and very much needed! We were very well looked after and restrictions adhered too. The staff were very professional, kind and friendly. After our relaxing time in the Thermal Spa overlooking the fantastic view's with fabulously chilled glasses of Prosecco we had a wash and blow dry in the hair salon. What a treat to be able to do this. Myself and my sister felt like a million dollars! The girls on duty were just so nice and accomodating. We were very lucky to be able to have some light lunch in the restaurant which was equally as nice and much needed. All in all, it was my first time at the Shandon, my sister has been lot's of times, but I would highly recommend. Hard to believe we have such a jewel not far from where I grew up. Keep up the great work and I will be back!

Spent a gorgeous morning in the spa. The treatments were fabulous and the staff in the spa were great. We weren't told in advance that we couldn't shower in the dressing room. The bar food was very average and quite expensive. Staff very attentive. Major turnoff was that the hotel manager wasn't wearing her mask or a visor/face covering and it was unsettling as all other staff members (that we could see) were wearing a visor. She walked in and out of the bar and upstairs frequently to meet guests. It was unfortunate that management couldn't show a good example.

I went here at the end of January with my three sisters. We had an amazing time, the rooms were gorgeous, equipped with everything we needed and more. The staff were so friendly and service was top notch, they couldn't do enough for us. The spa and swimming pool facilities were brilliant, imagine sitting outdoors in the hot tub whilst it was snowing. We had a ball. We ate in the bar both nights as the food was so reasonably priced and delicious as was the breakfast. This is my third time staying in this hotel and I will definitely book again. A big thanks to the manager Carolynne and team Shandon for a wonderful stay.

Lovely hotel. Trip was somewhat tainted by a mistake with the pricing and a bad dining experience. There were no high chairs available in the dining area for our little boy which resulted in us having to order room service for which we then had to pay a tray charge. We had been looking forward to the trip, so sitting in our room having dinner was a bit of a downer! In fairness to the hotel, they did arrange relevant refunds which I made them aware of the issues. I would definitely visit again, but maybe this time without the baby just.

A beautifully located hotel. The staff here were really excellent, the rooms lovely ( but make sure you ask for a sea view) and the food was very good, especially the breakfast. We also had dinner in Marbles one evening which was a nice treat. The lobby and bar could do with a bit of a sprucing up, as could the gym, where the equipment was badly in need of an upgrade. But overall a lovely stay and I'd happily come back.

We were on a spa weekend away for our 5th anniversary and what an amazing experience that was. Perfect location. Breathtaking views of the coast. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Food in the restaurant was excellent, and the fast service was faultless. The band (The Workmen) in the bar were brilliant. We loved the swimming pool facilities within the hotel as well. The treatment was excellent and the Thermal suit was the perfect way to end the experience. We will definitely be back!

Stunning views over the water. I have stayed here a number of times and love it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Most of the rooms are beautiful, a couple are a bit dated, although I believe they are in the process of updating them. Make sure to ask for a sea view room. The spa is excellent but make sure to book in advance as it is extremely busy. I have ate in marbles restaurant. The food was fine but the menu is quite select. I prefer the bar food menu. The Shandon is certainly worth a visit.

**You can not have a full spa day here unless you bring a packed lunch!!! Went to use the spa today along with an 85 euro treatment. Absolutely brilliant. Amazing view, therapist was very friend and good at her job. However, as my treatment was at 11am and lasted an hour. By about 1pm I was hungry and wanted a bit of lunch. At that point I asked a member of staff if I could change, go have lunch in the hotel and come back to the spa. She asked a member of the spa and they said I would have to pay €30 to come back in!!!! Ruined it for me I have to say. So as a result I had to stay and wait until I felt I had had my "spa day" and then went and had a very late lunch.

Rooms are well appointed, can be a little stuffy. Food is good, but €4 for a latte is simply over priced. Restaurant is comfortable, but a bit dated, ha a 70's feel. What this place has is location, location, location! It is superb. The views are stunning. My biggest beef with this place is that for lunch we wanted to sit outside, being a beautiful warm sunny July day. Across the entire Mediterranean Sea board everyone is eating out on hotel and restaurant terraces, but not the Shandon, despite a sign saying to order food at the bar, you also have to eat in, you are not allowed to eat on the terrace. Was not happy about that.

Amazing views. Good breakfast choices. Bathroom soap/shampoo etc was gorgeous. Kids got a surprise Easter Egg left for them. V clean rooms. Super prices. Beside beach. Complimentary paper. Good pool facility. Only downfall was bar service. Presuming this was Summer staff only starting out and being trained in. Didn't stop me from booking in again for next Easter however. Thank you!! Kids had a wonderful time!

We went with relatives this evening to the new Marbles restaurant for a meal. Well what a treat. Our cousins from Northampton were blown away by their experience. The meal was absolutely scrumptious. Every thing about it was top class. We all thought we were at a Michelin star restaurant..we were all so impressed with the food. The staff are so friendly there and attentive. So nice to be treated so special in our local area. The Hotel itself was buzzing and the dining room was very busy. If you want a special treat this is where you need to go. Best food..best service and you will be booking a return visit before you leave. Thanks again everyone...Mary Rose and friends .

Modern, clean, and very comfortable hotel. Amazing view out over the bay. All rooms offer a sea view. Great food, nice bars, fantastic friendly staff. Eat, drink, sleep in a nice cozy bed, then wake up and do it all again. Burn off some calories in the pool, or go for a walk along the beach, get pampered in the spa, or just chill out. The choice is yours.

29/30 June 2020 The Shandon had a common sense approach to social distancing which made for a really relaxed, no stress atmosphere.Chris the night porter and Clare the bar manager were both excellent, and are a credit to the hotel. Nice hotel with great views. The bars aren't very nice though and prices are quite high. My only complaint would be the main bar, the seating isn't very comfortable or relaxing, I'd have expected a more traditional bar, with snugs - somewhere you could relax for a few hours when the weather is bad. The prices are as high as Dublin prices, a glass of wine is just under €7. Otherwise I've no complaints, and would definitely recommend. The Blue House is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area - it's a must-see. Spectacular.

Just spent 2 fabulous days in Shandon Hotel, we were celebrating our anniversary and staff were so polite, courteous, friendly and helpful . The food was excellent as was the entertainment on the Sunday. We were given an upgrade to the Junior Suite , which was an added luxury and very much appreciated by both of us. One of the chefs baked us a cake ,which again was a lovely gesture . We will definitely return at some date in the future as will my daughter and I for a Spa break. This is my new favourite place to stay. My partner and 10-year-old daughter and I recently stayed and couldn't believe our luck at finding such a gem of a hotel just of the main road and overlooking an amazing beach. We received a warm professional reception and were delighted to hear that there was a kids club taking place in the morning. This had already been communicated to me the day before by phone when I got my pre-stay call from the hotel asking if I needed help with anything like reservations or special needs for our stay. I booked a spa morning for my partner and me while my daughter was being entertained with other kids at the kids club which had a great morning of adventure organised. The club was run by 3 mature professionals that totally filled me with confidence to look after and entertain my 10-year-old. The club also included lunch and ran from 9.30am to 3 pm, but we only booked for a half-day. The spa has one of the most spectacular settings I've seen. It totally surpassed my expectations. We both got massages and thought the whole process was run very professionally. I received a message from a therapist called Noleen who was amazing. We then used the outdoor hot-tub which was by far the best part of my trip for me. After spending the afternoon at the beach which is only 5-minute walk we returned and had dinner in the bar with panoramic views. Food and service were great, I had a burger which ticked all the boxes and made my partner have food envy. She has a salad looked great but after the day on the beach was a rookie mistake. She ended up ordering extra chips to compensate. I don't think I know of another property so well located and run in such a professional manner. I really can't wait to visit them again.

The dinner was lovely, unfortunately my friend found a bit of plastic on top of her steak.The manager helped resolve this situation. The room was beautiful and we had a great time. What a beautiful establishment. Stopped off here hoping to get a room with a view but they only had 1 room left with a view of the rear. So we decided to drive further along the “Atlantic Way”, but not before we indulged in a refreshing Gin & Tonic (Donegal Dulce (Seaweed)Gin ) which hit the spot perfectly. And sat outdoors in relaxing seats overlooking a beautiful landscape. The hotel has a well renowned Spa also.

Stayed in the hotel firstly met by friendly staff, unable to get early check-in which couldn't be helped, but offered to keep the bags as we went to our spa appointment for our wild atlantic bliss treatment. The spa was lovely, but quite expensive. We had a back massage with a facial and a scalp massage.. Really relaxing.. My husband had back massage without the facial and scalp massage... Relaxed in the hot tub outside and on the heated seats.. Definitely recommend but unfortunately never won my husband over about going to spas.. Typical farmer. We stayed in the hotel in one of the junior suite with a lovely message left from the manager, 3 wee buns and a wee message, and a beautiful view of the water and beach.. We never got to the leisure centre but it looked lovely.. Was a lovely stay ...

Spa day was just ok. A bit dated and one outdoor hot tub between about 20 spa customers. Tropical shower was broken. 3 basins for putting your feet in water.(whatever that's about??). Next day we had booked to do the spa....HEAVEN is in Donegal!!! Loved the thermal suite, the hot tub was so so good, and then my treatments!! I chose the Wild Atlantic Bliss package...and was very professionally greeted by my therapist Ann Marie who exceptional. Good deep massage and a lovely gentle facial followed by a soothing arm and hand massage. Bliss indeed. Forgot to mention earlier the breakfast...gorgeous! Pancakes are my fave...and that wee machine makes such light tasty ones! I would love to return again and hope the Shandon will be as unforgettable then as it was on this my first visit of many!!

Myself, my niece and my mum visited the spa at the shandon this week and availed of the thermal suite and their current special offer. When booking the lady made me aware that one of the therapists would be male and i agreed that that would be fine. I must admit i was a little hesitant but we were a late booking and i was glad to get a reservation. Both myself and my mother were booked in for our treatments with therapist Mohan. From start to finish the experience was fantastic. Mohan was obviously an extremely experienced therapist who was extremely professional throughout. Warm and friendly with great advice to give. Both myself and my mum came out feeling that we had just had the most effective and relaxing massage of our lives. We will certainly be visiting the spa at the shandon again and next time I will be requesting Mohan for sure. Thank you.

Have just had a great two night stay in the Shandon Hotel & Spa. From start to finish our stay was excellent. We were warmly greeted at reception and , although our room wasnt quite ready simply becuse we arrived early, our luggage was taken care of and we went for an early lunch. The food was top quality as was the service. The views are stunning as the Hotel is excellently situated close to the beach with views over Sheephaven bay. The room we were in was a Junior Suite and was one of the best rooms ive stayed in of any hotel. The Spa was another relaxing experience and i would definitely reccommend that if you are considering booking the Shandon then go ahead you will have a great time. We will definitely be back. We stayed here on 3rd November 18. Could not fault a thing. Although our treatments started at 10.30am our room wasnt ready until 3pm. That would be the only thing that sort of put us off. We had dinner in Marbles restaurant. It was unreal. One of the best beef & chicken mains we ever had. Starters and desserts was equally as good. Naomi went out of her way to get my girlfriend a ceasur salad for starters. She was brilliant and even at breakfast before we left she had attended to us both very well... the girls in the spa looked after us so well. We got the love to spa package. Back massage and facial,& use of the thermal suit. My girlfriend wasnt feeling well they took great care of her. Thank you. Will definitely be back again, thanks for everything.. ( wouldn’t be surprised to find a dead body) ;) but anyway food is acseptable for its standard. But that ice cream is great! To be honest the first meal we had was dinner and I had to send back my rice ball from my chicken korma. It could have been hurled across the room and would have knocked out an old doll. After day two in the hell hole our second meal was ok. Salmon was flavourless and wet. My grandas burger was rawer than a raw onion. Had to be sent back. Staff were fine with that for some reason. But came back and was fine!

I would also like to thank Carolynne for being so thoughtful to us (She knows what I mean) I can't remember all the names of the staff who were so nice but thank you all so much and I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and all the best for the future, Hopefully it won't be long until we are back for more pampering.
