J. V.We had a very unique situation with needing to isolate whilst we had hired the car due to testing positive for coronavirus. All of the staff we spoke to were outstanding and extremely helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay more convenient and save us money on the car even at a time of year when prices increase. We picked the car up from Dublin airport but they arranged for someone to collect it from our Airbnb where we were isolating for no fee, and then we collected the car again from Kerry Airport after our isolation period to drive it back from Dublin. We only paid for the days we had the car. All of the staff were very friendly and understanding, especially Connor at Kerry Airport. We will definitely be using Budget cars next time we are in Ireland. Highly recommended. Thank you again for your service.
B. A.My experience with Budget car rental at Dublin Airport was extremely positive. When I arrived, my travel agent had given me a third party car insurance which was not recognized by Budget. However the agent was willing to accept alternative car rental insurance provided as a benefit by my credit card company, so the unfortunate situation was addressed at no cost to me. Later I overpaid for E-Flow toll roads due to glitches on the E-Flow web site, and the Budget customer service agent made several phone calls to E-Flow on my behalf to get a refund for the overpayment. I cannot recommend the customer service provided by Budget car rental at Dublin Airport more highly. I generally travel to Ireland once every two years to visit family, and this has been my most pleasant car rental experience by far.
A. H.I arrived in late on Thursday night and picked up our rental from Bart at the pickup desk in T1 he was so welcoming and patient.
After departing we our car we had left behind out all essential ‘duty free’. Bart call and arranged to hold for collection.

N. S.We got a car of which the rear windshield wiper had broken off. Luckily we noticed before driving with the car and we took a photo of the issue so we wouldn't be charged for it upon return.
Tires are not good quality. When we got a flat tire and returned to the service desk to ask for information on how to proceed, the agent simply stated 'You can Google if there's a garage nearby who can fix it for you'. Of course, we knew that we would have to fix it, but it would have been nice (read 'better service') if the agent had helped us find a place to get the tire fixed.
Luckily, when we had to return the car (with the fixed tire!) the returning process was quite quick and we were assisted by a very kind lady. She apologised for the broken windshield wiper when we showed her the photo. Very polite and definitely made up for the lack of service from the other agent.
A.Have used Budget at Dublin Airport a few times now and they've always offered great value, top service and nice clean cars. Paul was a great help on my last visit too.
s. s. b.I want to commend the representatives at Budget car rental responding to my request for a refund. They acted promptly and professionally. I rented a car from Budget traveling Ireland for 2 weeks. The gps I requested, I was not able to switch from Spanish to English. They refunded me for the daily charge on that. I also let them know that I did fill the car with gas on return. They promptly refunded that for me. I plan on returning to Ireland this summer as well and will definitely use Budget car rental again at the Dublin Airport!!
g. s.I was charged for the service twice and now find myself having to instruct a solicitor to try and obtain an additional 400€.
The car hire company at the airport said it has nothing to do with them and headquarters have failed to resolve this matter for the past 4 days, in fact have not even responded to me sending proof of the additional payment.
Yesterday I received an email from a pleasant woman in customer services saying that they have located the additional payment and have promised to refund the payment over the next 10 days.
A. T. M.The staff at Dublin Airport Terminal 2 were brilliant to us and we cannot thank them enough. My family and I were let down by another car hire company that stranded us at Terminal 2 for over 3 hours. When we finally thought we were getting somewhere with them they told us they never had a car for us in the first place. However, Budget came to the rescue. I was traveling with my wife and 3 boys ages 6, 3, and 1. We were tired, the boys were hungry and we still had a 3-hour journey ahead of us. The other car company, Easirent, did not care about any of this. Darren, at the AVIS Budget desk in Terminal 2 was kind, compassionate and made us feel at ease. He quickly sorted out a car for us and we were soon on our way. The car was great and got us to where we needed to be. We are so grateful to Darren and the staff for their excellent customer service. We will definitely be recommending AVIS Budget to everyone and anyone if they are going to rent a car. Thank you to all of you for such great service and hospitality.
t. a.This was the easiest experience ever! They didn't charge me a ton of money upon arrival for extra insurance. Fast pick up and drop off and everyone I had interactions with were incredibly friendly and wonderful. Highly recommend this rental company.
l. v.The service i have received from Budgets Customer Service at Dublin Airport has been of the highest order, having left my cash filled wallet along with Credit Cards and Driving License in the car I hired from them. There response to my loss was astonishing, contacting me immediately to reassure me of the contents and confirmation of my address. My wallet arrived through the post safely yesterday morning, Ken and Marianne are a credit to Budget Ireland, I cannot thank them enough.

Staff could not have been more helpful when we had to return because of an oil light, new car without any hassle and no expectation to have to pay for petrol used in the day as had not filled up, not realising they would change the car. Great too having pick up and drop off in the airport, not sure if this is just a COVID thing but really glad to be able to walk to car rather than minibus. Highly recommended

N.Arrived early in Dublin Airport for 7.30 am ordered car for 9.30 so would be able to return closer to flight time home and intended to go to breakfast first then do paperwork and collect car, called at desk to check where to go and helpful young man I think called Jonny said we could do the paper work now as you got a very generous 2 hours either way of the rental, I was shocked at I normally rented with "HURTS" excuse the pun which gives 29 minutes and I have been stung with this before due to illness. Upgraded the car for a reasonable amount I just think the excess which you really do have to take out is excessive with all hire companies went for breakfast and collected the car as intended around 9.30. When we returned the car at 9.30 on the Sunday morning was told we were late and that although still generous you actually only get 1 hours grace, was a bit annoyed about this and argued with the attendant who eventually waived the excess fee but was still a sting in the tail of what had been a lovely trip. I would rent with budget again and hopefully now I know wont be making that mistake again.
L. H.Decent price of the rental, but got the worst car I've ever rented/drive in my life (Dacia Sandero). On top of that, they requested an excess over 2000 euro which is 30% of the price of the car which is not adequate and the tank was missing at least 5 litres to full state even though the dial showed full (the first bar disappeared after around 15 km)

M.Paul Heffernan is the absolute best, went home to Ireland in November to visit my mom who is very sick, I always get a bad deal on cars but I was recommended to talk to Paul and he was amazing like AMAZING my car was perfect and I can't recommended Budget enough. From the time I picked up my car I was extremely well taken care of. The lady who helped me was so friendly and made it feel really easy to get going.
I returned the car to Rory in Budget and he went above and beyond to help me with the return. He was so energetic and positive it was infectious.
I then decided I need to report the extremely positive experience I’ve had to their Supervisors so I rang the customer service line and the guy I spoke to was an absolute gentlemen also. I’m just sorry I didn’t ask for the names of that lady from Avis and the man from the customer service line.
It’s the rule of three again! I will now forever give my business to budget/Avis/Payless based in this fantastic experience because other companies were never so straightforward or genuine in their interactions with me.

We arrived at Dublin Airport and it was very easy to find the spot where we had to catch the shuttle to the rental place. Only had to wait a few minutes.
The staff at the facilities was very friendly and helped me throught the different options. Paying for the deposit did not go through with my Debit card, so we could try other cards. They actually accept Maestro and Visa Pay cards as well!
Car was in excellent condition, very clean. The scratches and spots were marked propely on the sheet and we did not have any problems in the 4 rental days.
When we returned the car it was relatively difficult to find the drop-off-facilities, a Google Maps entry would be helpful ;) But you can actually find the adress on their website, it's just a little bit hidden.
Staff again was very friendly and helpfull! I actually forgot something in the car and even though it was already in the cleaning facility they let me enter and search for the bag.
Overall great service, good value for money. Definately do reccommend Budget Car Rental in Dublin!

But after doing a lot of research and comparing the various car rental companies, I chose Budget. Our experience was absolutely wonderful! The pick-up and drop-off was very easy, professional, and seamless. The staff at the pick-up desk was very helpful and professional, and we had no problems returning the car either. We also had no issues at all with the vehicle. It was my first time driving in Ireland, and everything went very smoothly. I am very happy I chose Budget. I would definitely choose Budget again for a future trip.
E. T.Quick service at the desk. Got a nice clean car. There was no hassle dropping the car back, a quick check over was all. Dropped back to Shannon airport. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly. Only downside was the high deposit of €1500 and then a fuel deposit also.

Rented again 2 weeks later and had the same positive experience. Just make sure you have enough of a balance on your credit card for the €1500 deposit.

Both when picking up and dropping off we had good interactions with the Enterprise folks, and the car we rented was a solid choice.
We rented a car for 6 days and travelled quite a bit over the course of that time and we had to refuel once and even that was only a quarter of a tank.
They have a useful service where you can pay for a tank of gas upfront so you don't have to fill the car before you return it. I'd recommend using that service because they charge a fair price for petrol and it could potentially save you a bit of money.

- Great prices
- Long line for getting the car. Had to wait for 30min. It was Thursday afternoon and I was told it is busy because of the weekend.
- I was upgraded to a larger car. Always nice.
- The car was clean but not in great shape. Strange motor sounds, many scratches outside. In the end it worked ok for my trip period.
- PAY ATTENTION - when returning the car they are looking after every small scratch. You will for sure be charged if you do not have pictures taken before as a proof that it was already there. Take many pictures all over the car. It will save you lot of time and money when you return the car. For me it was enough for a good clearance.

Additionally, all employees were really nice and diligent. It is important to know that you require to use a credit card because an amount of 1500 euro will be blocked. This is normal and almost every serious car rental do the same. The money went back to my account few days after returning the car with no issues. Consider this to avoid surprises.

M.Amazing car rental company. We booked our car on their website, an intermediate class, and were offered a compact class. The car had just 4000km, and was perfect for our trip. The staff was very friendly. Taking and returning the car was a very simple process. We had a full coverage, which I would recommend to everyone, so that one has no stress. The deposit was just around 100€ in our case, just for the fuel, and was refunded to our credit card immedatly after the drop off! The price was very convenient. I would totally recommend!

E. D.As an Irish person living abroad I travel home quite a lot. However this was the first time I rented a car in Ireland and when I walked away after giving the car back I wondered why I haven’t done this before after such a good experience. You do have to take a shuttle bus from the terminal to a parking outside the airport but overall the service was friendly and fast arriving and returning. The car had some minor scratches but other than that it was fairly modern and in excellent condition. If Budget can keep there prices low I will definitely be returning to them. No complaints at all.
M. M.Had a great experience with this rental company. Everything was exactly like it said on their website. No hidden or extra charges. We rented an opel corsa, the car was relatively new (13.000km) and clean. It had some smaller scratches, but nothing worth mentioning. We returned the car an hour later than arranged, but they didn't charge me an extra day. The staff is friendly and helpful, that includes the bus driver.

Service collecting and returning spot on. I had left an item in the car on return and despite the car already being moved when I realised, there was no problem in getting my item back to me.

M. S.I was very satisfied from my experience with Budget car rental in Dublin. The staff was excellent, helpful and very kind. The car was in a very good condition. I put 4 out of 5 stars for three reasons. Firstly the car had other tires manufacturer on the front and other on the back wheels. The back wheels where "Continental" (probably from the car factory) and the front wheels a firm I didn't know. It is cheap to maintain a car like this but it can make drive a little unstable especially for inexperience drivers. Secondly there was no mention when I made the reservation on budget's website that the Budget desk on Dublin airport terminal 2 is closed from 00:00 to 05:00. Additionally Budget does not provide a drive from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. So we had to walk a long way with our luggage. Finally there where no floor mats on the car. This is a minor issue but makes the ride a little more comfortable for the passengers.
A. M.Awesome service! I rent a car with them last May with my wife. We had a reservation online that was cheaper than the store. Even though it was a technical issue of the app, the staff kept the price with no stress. Moreover, gave us a better car than the one we reserved and gave lots of tips where to visit. J. N.Probably the best company to rent from at Dublin Airport. I have used them many times and they have always made the process as quick and painless as possible. Vehicles are always clean with usually nothing more than some superficial scratches/dents. The staff are friendly and not trying to trick you. The prices are pretty low and there's a fairly decent chance you will get a free upgrade.
Points against would be the high (which is actually par for Dublin) deposit cost and the ridiculous use of fuel deposits. Why do you need to take a fuel deposit that is worth double the price of the fuel in the vehicle. If I returned it empty, you have my credit card details. Why block another €100 on my card.
Despite that I would recommend this company if you are renting from the airport.

There was no confusion on where to pick up or return the car and the tolls and everything were explained in advance to avoid surprises upon our return home. Booked with Budget and got a great little 2018 Micra which was perfect for nipping around Dublin and the local coastline. C. B.Correct service, new well equipped car (Citroën C3 Aircorss) with Android Auto. Pickup at this GPS coordinate is a bit confusing, there are people that can go through if you did the paperwork in the airport Terminal already. Others can do it at the car return site too and then need to wait in queue there.
I booked 6 days and picked it up one day later and they gave me a reduction in price for that. Had an accident (a car slammed his backdoor against the car and ran off) and they blocked the 1500 eur prepayment (no additional insurance) for 2 weeks, then gave the final invoice 700 and released the 800 on the creditcard. All looks professional there.
You self inspect the car at pickup and need to show picture within 20 minutes of any previous damage. Bus drive back to airport is 2 minutes, the other way = 8 minutes.

We had never traveled to Ireland before and had read horror stories about car rental, hidden costs, and the like.
No horror story here! I requested an automatic transmission and I got it. Good, solid vehicle, just the right size to carry all the junk we had brought (we were here getting married, so some extra luggage happened). Clean car, mechanically sound, did the job as we put something like 2000km on it during our trip.
Check-in was easy enough. Very friendly gentleman at the counter, who told us about insurance, explained how to handle the M50 toll, and gave us some tips and suggestions for around town. The bus driver who took us from the airport to the car rental facility was great (and hilarious). Getting the keys was pretty quick despite a long line. Returning was just as simple!
Next time I go to Ireland, Budget/Payless definitely have my business. Thank you!
D. B.The car we picked up was great. A Renault Capture, it concealed all our luggage, was economical to run (diesel ) & easy to drive and took us a good length of the Wild Atlantic Way without any problems for 2 weeks of touring. Bit difficult getting back in for drop off because of the petrol pump location but just be prepared to drive through the airport loop, fill up with gas, leave the airport and swing back into the big roundabout and through again to the return depot. Easy when you know how.....other issue with GPS was sorted to our satisfaction thank you Budget.....
N.Very disappointing for a well known rental car company. The service at the desk was a little slow but very friendly when we finally were served. Then it all seemed to go down hill from there. It took at least 30 minutes for a shuttle bus to come, then there is the next section that you have to wait for to actually get your car keys. Almost 2 hours later we came to a very old (in rental terms), very used car with scratches all over & stains inside. We just didn't have any more time to waste trying to change the car, so took it. The car did drive well & was very energy efficient, but for the age & state it was in, I would have expected some sort of discount rather than pay the same amount for a newer car.
S. P.My experience with Budget Car Rental was a pleasant one. I was picked up at the airport Terminal1 within 10 minutes for a short journey to Car Rentals Center. Within 20 minutes, I got my car ( similar category as my booking). Staff were courteous, though not friendly..most probably due to long line of customers. No fuss returning at the end of journey, completed within 5 minutes, off I went .. back to Terminal 1 by shuttle bus provided. Will use the same service on return visit.
K. C.Paul was absolutely the best. We were at Dublin Airport and got absolutely hustled by another rental agency, at which point we cancelled our reservation and walked over to the Budget desk. Paul asked how we were and immediately said that we’d be smiling once we were done with our transaction with them, and indeed we were. He helped us loads and made our morning turn around so quickly. The car we rented was great, and Budget was super flexible due to the storm, allowing us to drop off the car at a car park in Galway so we could take the bus back to Dublin as all the roads were still fairly bad for us to be driving ourselves.

The lovely lady at your desk in Dublin airport even at 11pm, was delightful and could not do enough to help us. A excellent ambassador for your company. J. G.First time renting a car - had a great experience. I did a bit of research before renting a car for my first time, renting in another country, and about driving on the other side of the car and road. It paid off to do my research first and get the right insurance in this country - just be careful as you go through the website. It was a really fun experience and the people I picked up from and dropped off with were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely rent from Budget again and I would definitely rent a car in Ireland again.

The staff friendliness and speed of document work process on pickup and return was really impressive. The only flaw at the rental desk was the quality of explanation of the rental cost: still can’t figure out why the actual price for full insurance went up 50% from the advertised on their site when I made my on-line reserve. The shuttle from airport terminals to the pickup area was quick an convenient.
Beware: they will try to persuade you to rent a “bigger and fancier” car for a small up-charge. I’m glad I refused: road lines in Ireland are really narrow so the tinnier the better. I liked the model but they offer the cheapest options combo within a certain model range: so you will get the weakest engine and almost no options above the most basic. I liked my Fabia very much but 1.2l motor choked on steep mountain roads. However, I liked the mechanical and cosmetical condition of the car (just a few scratches from the previous rents) and that the car suited my needs perfectly.
Also please note that they do not include an air-pump. I had my tire punctured in a very remote area 30 min before the dusk. So I had to replace the wheel very quick: glad they included a full-size replacement wheel, a wrench and a jack. But the replacement was almost fully deflated and we had a hard time looking for a pump.
In the end of the day I would rather likely recommend this provider to my friends but will also aware them of the caveats.

Important to inspect vehicle on collection, and note any damage (now using phone camera, photos/ video, paperwork no longer given, only email), if not taking full insurance cover, to avoid misunderstandings when returning the vehicle.
K. C.Got a shuttle straight away, didn't have to wait in line for one second (this was midday on a Thursday). The employees were talkative and helpful and changed the car so we could fit all of our suitcases. To put the sweetest cherry on top, somehow the rental overall, with navigation, was cheaper than what we were quoted online. Also, a note about the Irish Budget staff in general: amazing. I was constantly emailing them both before and during the rental because I still had my German number. They were always so quick to respond and so helpful!
If I come to Ireland again, hopefully I will, Budget will be my go to car rental!

L.I have to say that the first impression wasn't too good, as the place was overcrowded when we got there and we had to wait about half an hour to get our car, despite having already booked the car on their website. Then, a nice surprise, we got a car way better than the one we had chosen. Finally, when we returned the vehicle, there was a dent that we didn't see the previous day and that didn't appear in the sketch of the car we got in the office. And that was the best part: we were told not to worry, as they had pictures that showed that dent. So, all in all, a very positive experience. Well done!

N. N.On the ferry across from Holyhead, I rang Budget just to get a general comparative quote for car hire that I could go by and was quoted €130 for seven days hire. On arriving at Dublin airport we just went to the nearest car hire companies for their quote and none were below €200 with the lowest being €220! I rang Budget back and they confirmed their quote, gave me a booking reference and I went to their counter to get the keys. There were no queues and the staff were very efficient in getting my paperwork done before taking me to the car. I only needed a small car and was hoping for a Fiesta or Clio but was given a Micra instead, so was a little disappointed. However, it was comfortable, nippy and got me to the west coast of Ireland for about €30 worth of petrol, so I was well pleased. On arrival back to their drop-off point, again everything went fast and efficiently with my deposit and petrol deposit being refunded within 5 minutes. They even ordered a taxi to take me and my colleagues to the Ferry Port on time, so the whole experience was very good and left me feeling that I wouldn't bother going anywhere else next time, just straight to Budget, knowing that I was going to get the best deal going with great service too. On return, everything went smoothly, gotgeverything checked and took the shuttle to the airport.

J. L.I can't say enough about the help we received from a Budget - Dublin Airport employee, Paul Heffernan. We had planned well in advance, and rented a van through another company, Sixt. I had made sure that everything was set via email - they had my letter from my credit card company that offered insurance, and said everything was in order. However, when we arrived, Sixt said the van they were renting us was valued at just slightly over $50K, so my credit card company's coverage was invalid! I'm not sure why they didn't notify me of this potential problem beforehand.
We were renting the van for 26 days, so the incremental cost to us would have been significant. I was traveling with 4 kids, and we had just arrived after a very long flight. It was not an ideal situation. We were stuck at the airport with loads of luggage and didn't know what to do next. We've had bad car rental experiences before, so I had gone to extra effort to make sure everything was set with Sixt.
I happened to walk down to Budget to see if they could possibly match Sixt's price. This was a long shot since I'd reserved the Sixt van 6 months in advance. Paul took the BEST care of us. His shift was ending, but he stayed late to see what he could do. When we realized that Budget didn't have an automatic van that would hold all of us plus our luggage, he brainstormed other ideas. He ended up talking with a buddy from Hertz, and they helped us get into a van that worked for us. While we were still frustrated about the overall experience, we couldn't help feel incredibly grateful for Paul who went above and beyond - even after he realized we wouldn't be renting through Budget. Thank you, Budget and Paul, for helping this group of weary travelers start their Ireland trip on a better note!
P. T.I rented a car from here for a week, collecting and dropping off at the airport. The car was good, and no hidden charges were incurred after we dropped the car off.
I booked the car through AMEX travel, who used Car Trawler, no dramas at all. I declined their insurance, preferring to use Amex's $100 k cover, and the man tried to tell me Amex wouldn't cover me as Budget already had a very basic cover, and if there was already a cover in place, other insurances would be null and void.
I declined, and checked with Amex who assured me tbey would cover me.
P. J.As a customer who travels frequently and rents about 12 cars a year across Europe and America, I was initially a little disappointed here. I've used Budget in the USA many times and been really happy, but after a long wait in line I was finally given the keys to a rather scruffy car with 115,000 km on the clock. To be fair, it drove beautifully and had clearly been serviced regularly. However, when I arrived at my accommodation near Kilkenny, I noticed some serious damage to the sill - it could only be seen from a distance and I had missed it when checking the car at the airport, I had been standing too close and looking for small scratches!
I expected this to be a problem on my return - after all, I know that once the car has been driven away there is no proof regarding who caused the damage. However, because I had taken a photo as soon as I spotted the damage, the staff at the returns desk were wonderful - really understanding about it being hard to spot in a car park.
It's good to know that there are still some very decent rental companies around. (But next time, I would appreciate a slightly less worn out car...)

Note though that queues can take longer than necessary if renters don't read the print and have their credit cards and driving licences ready. This has happened to me on a number of occasions while people faff trying to make alternative arrangements and delay everyone in the queue - not the fault of Budget staff though.

The only criticism was that there was some damage on the vehicle that hadn't been picked up on the rental notes - luckily one of the agents in the car park checked & 'signed off' !

C. B.You'll have to get a shuttle bus to the actual car rental facility so be prepared to wait a short while. In addition, if you don't take excess protection insurance, the deposit is €1500, which is much higher than other companies I've rented with in other countries (but maybe Dublin is just that expensive).
D. S.Rented a car from Cork, Ireland for 2 days and returned it at the Dublin Airport location. Returned it with a full tank of gas, and per the rental contract, should have been refunded $107 which would have been charged if I had returned it without a full tank. I was told this refund would be processed approximately 1 week after returning the car. It has now been over 2 months with no refund. I have filed a customer service case and been very patient while they did their investigation process. I was told this would take 2 weeks. When I first called they didn't even have a record of the rental (but they sure charged me for it). Scanned and emailed copies of the rental agreement and gas receipts. After two weeks the only word from the company was a request for more documents (which were already provided). Now after 2 months all they have to say is "please allow us another 45 days to investigate."
The customer service side of the company is an absolute mess. Not sure if they are just that disorganized, understaffed or overwhelmed by complaints.
*UPDATE* After posting this review I was contacted by a rep from Budget Ireland within a couple days and my money was refunded. Quick a good customer service from this part of the company so kudos to them. Still need some work with the customer service process on the corporate level, but on the local level. As an additional note this customer service issue was the only issue experienced with the rental. I had no issues with the car or rental process on my vacation.

D. H.Our experience was really great; we got an even better car than booked; the price is very reasonable, pickup and especially return was really uncomplicated and without much bureaucracy. One thing which made me (unnecessarily) suspicious was the pickup of the car in rain; i should then spot all the scratches and found two big scratches which were missed by the employee of budget; and after it dried up some small ones which were not spottable during the rain. On return no one complained about the small scratches (which were already there; so i think the employees also have known this) - to summarize it: i definitely will book again at budget.

Staff always friendly - I'm covered by my credit card for the excess and don't have a problem with the amount being blocked. One of the vehicles was fine; the other one was in very poor condition - moss growing on the roof, dings all over the car, interior parts missing. Shouldn't have been rented.

A. M.Amazing service every step of the way! I was not their "typical" customer, for many reasons. First, I booked our rental on the wrong day. Second, our flight arrived 40 minutes after their offical closing time.
We called the budget desk to inform them about our flight dely ( they said they would do what they could but could not promise anything). In the end, they waited for us to arrive (1.05 AM). Not only did they wait for us but we did not even have a scheduled rental (however they quickly pulled up our other reservation) and were able to give us a car within minutes.
I also forgot to cancel the other reservation that we had made, which I realized only 24 hours ago. And as budget has a 48 hour cancellation fee of 30 euro I was dissapointed with myself. However, as I went to cancel the reservation I realized that they had already marked our other rental as complete.
Overall I am so impressed with the level of service of this company! (And very sorry that I caused so many problems during my time with them!!!)
P. W.Budget was easy to find at the terminal. Good signage and the initial processing was very fast as I had already booked on the internet. Just FYI, I used the RentalCars Website. At the desk all I had to do was give my name and I was pointed to the shuttle service outside. It came within 5 minutes. All great so far. At the pickup site I was only waiting a couple of minutes to be attended by a very knowledgable agent. The chap to his right was very entertaining while dealing with another customer. Nice lighthearted banter. I asked to upgrade the car to an automatic and was initially allocated a complete banger. I went to inspect it and it was abhorrent. Central locking didn't work and the boot had no other means of opening it. All of the panels were damaged except the roof and it smelled of damp.Back to the agent, who incidentally agreed the car was an accident waiting to happen. Without hesitation they gave me a different car. Nissan Juke. Very nice car and in much better condition. When we inspected it, there were marks in addition to those noted on the report from the office. We marked them and went back to the desk to report them before we drove away. The agent signed the document and asked us to take photos. So what started off as a really quick service took us about an hour to complete.
This will probably not be the same for all customers and having dealt with other car hire companies I'm pleased to say that the experience, although lenghty was not a bad one. Returning the car was very quick. I will definitely check them first when making my next booking.

Do have a little problem with return - every time I have returned the vehicle I forget to look for a guy outside who is to review returned car, and every time I will have to stand in the queue and will be sent back to find the guy outside, and come back to stand in a queue again. Please have your staff outside more proactive or please have signs at the door advising clients to look for a guy outside before queuing. Thank you!

I am glad I did not accept the roads were very narrow and the compact car was easy to navigate. The rental and return process was quick and efficient with adequate signage explaining where to go.
J. T.Are you frustrated by the terrible reviews of every car rental company ever in the history of the multiverse? Are you confused by the seemingly infinite amount of charges and rate options? Dear friend, I feel your pain. Read below to learn a distilled version of what I learned after hours of browsing the Internets for car rental information.
First, Budget Car Rental at the Dublin Airport is fantastic. The large majority of negative reviews are related to misunderstandings around rental requirements. To overcome these misunderstandings, be aware that:
1. Renting with a credit card will make your car rental life infinitely easier. Many rental companies will not rent you a car without a credit card.
2. The CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is included in the cost. Only the holders of a few, very specific credit cards which cover Ireland can avoid this cost. If you hold one of these cards, you will need a letter from your credit card company explicitly stating coverage. Contact your company to check.
3. With the CDW, you will still be responsible for an "excess" or "deductible" of around €1,000+. If you decline the "Super CDW," a hold will be placed on your credit card in the amount of the excess. This is not a charge. If your car is returned in the same condition as rented, the entirety of the hold will be released.
4. If you would like to receive the "Super CDW" coverage for a lower cost than offered by the car rental company, there are numerous websites which offer "Excess Insurance" in Ireland and elsewhere. Google is your friend here.
5. A deposit for a full tank of fuel will be added to your rental price. I was not aware of this when making the reservation. The deposit will be refunded if you return with a full tank of gas. Our deposit for a small car was €90.
D. K.Excellent service. This is the 4th car i have rented this year alone from budget in Dublin airport. This time round we needed 2 cars as myself and my girlfriend had different flights back, and both of us were upgraded to a bigger car which was brilliant. W. G.Flight was delayed by one hour, arrived at Dublin Airport at 00:30 terminal 2, went to Budget desk, closed. Notice on grille said go to Terminal 1 - why could they not have sent me a text/email regarding this as we had to go back through terminal 2 to get to terminal 1. I had selected a compact car but when I got to the car park it was a 7 seater ! This seem an unnecessary upgrade, however, it was a lovely car and I was not charged anything extra. Beware of the insurance/CDW, it is better to shop around insurance companies before hiring. Overall i got a good deal.

I left a pair of ear phones in the car boot too and thankfully the shuttle bus dropped them to the airport 10mins after informing their airport desk. As long as Budget maintain this hassle free experience I will continue to use them. (Ps Budget no harm in your website clearly highlighting excess holds which need to be on a credit card only- I shouldn't think this is a problem for most people and might remove the surprise factor made on many other reviews). Lastly car had many scratches which was perfectly ok. One is less nervous about where it is parked.

I actually just booked with Budget again for our next trip in March 2017. *A note to those posting negative reviews regarding the excessive damage waiver insurance, and I'm not trying to be rude, but welcome to car rental in Ireland! This is standard, and the fees are clearly spelled out in the "Terms & Conditions" section you checked that you understood when making the reservation. Budget actually has the cheapest daily rate for SDW insurance of all the major companies, and it is worth the piece of mind if you are travelling from outside the country. I look forward to my visit in March!
R. K.Delighted with the service received from Budget. Had booked a Renault Clio for 9 days but was given a free upgrade to an Audi A3 TDI Sline. Fantastic. Picked up the car late at night and was told to advise of any problems next morning. I discovered a tear in one of the tyres and a chip on the windscreen but reported it to Paul who recorded the data on my file. On returning the car I mentioned the fact that I had reported these problems and my return went through without problem. A very good service and will certainly use Budget again - hoping for a similar upgrade next time!!!!!

Despite problems I would definitely pick them again. Very professional. Very reliable. Impressive service.
T. K.Very friendly counter staff at Dublin Airport and great little suv (Nissan Qashqai). Transfer bus took a while to turn up but process overall was excellent. Returns confusing...was told to return to car park away from airport and wasn't told you could drop off at airport to save time with shuttle bus transfer. Ended up taking a chance and returning to airport car park. There wasn't anyone in the Budget booth and the Europcar guy we spoke to was quite rude because we had to park in their spot as all the Budget and Avis spots were full on Level 1. Finally found Budget on Level 3 and he just took our rental agreement and we were on our way.
T. D.The entire process was totally seamless. Walked to the Budget counter in the airport right outside the arrivals, took the bus, right outside the exit, to the Budget lot. Was given the car keys and spot number and off we went. The return process is run like a well oiled machine. You pull up, unload your luggage and sign the papers. We were staying in Dublin so they called us a cab which arrived in around 5 minutes. I would definitely use Budget for overseas travel anytime.
B. V.Best price on zero deductible (costs a little more, but save us a bunch in the end) in Ireland, use budget.ie. Yeah, the roads are terribly narrow, and I crunch the left front tire. 4 hours later we had a new car and were on the road again. Amazing service. Only way to go in Ireland.

I was having problems with another car rental agency which I had pre-paid (with penalties for cancelling) and they were holding me hostage for additional insurance. They wouldn't release the car unless I paid over $225 more in insurance. We walked over to Budget to see what they could do for us......and they couldn't have been nicer. Paul was extremely kind.....and at one point said, "leave your bags here, and go have a cup of coffee. You'll be able to think better after a cup of coffee." Budget accepted that AmEx covered the collision damage in Ireland (which the other company wouldn't do) and their cars were much cheaper in the end. I highly recommend them.
B. M.Painless procedure. Really easy to collect car. Got a little confused on return , but staff were really helpful and made the process seamless. Best of all, and I know this would be an exception, booked a compact (Clio or equivalent), and got an Octavia at no extra charge.

The only reason I don't give a 5 rating is the distance from the arrivals to the car hire location, which is the same for all car rental companies at Dublin Airport
Á. T.Nice and informative website. We had only one issue, that with debet card (NOT CREDIT) the rental cost was nearly doubled with the required insurance. The car we received was super clean and excelent technical condition. The customer service was nice to us.

The big thing was also that the holding excess was back on my card within 24 hours and the fuel charge, within 48hrs.

The car pick up terminal is located 5 minutes complimentary shuttle from the airport. Things do take time so allow for extra time.
When checking out and wanting to pay cash have the exact amount as they don’t give out change.
M.Friendly service. The tire pressures in the Opel Insignia were off significantly! The car also wobbled at high speeds (needs alignment). I reported the condition of the car upon return. Cars need to be better inspected before renting.
J. K.Budget really went over and above for my parents on a trip to Ireland for their anniversary. They had already been promised an upgrade, but were upgraded further still on arrival and were delighted with the car. I can't praise the service and the level of customer service highly enough.
P. P.The staff at this location were very friendly and helpful, however I have a huge beef with the claims department. We paid for the full coverage auto insurance, as this was our first time to Ireland and we were unsure of our driving skills with everything being the opposite of the USA. On our last day, we of course took off the mirror of a parked car. We got all of the information needed to give to Budget to take care of this man's mirror, however we have been informed by this man that Budget has not contacted him. We have tried to contact Budget numerous times and they do not get back to us. I am VERY unhappy with Budget's Claim Department and would not use them or recommend them again due to this issue. It has been a month since this accident occurred. If someone does finally resolve this issue, I will change my review, but at this time, I have nothing good to say.
POST NOTE: Apparently they have finally contacted the man we hit, but it took a very long time and we had to continue to contact Budget to handle the matter.

The car itself was not a v.w. golf as indicated but a 2 year old Nissan Note with over 60,000kms on the clock with an engine that really had been thrashed.

V. M.Waited about 15 mins for pick up at Dublin Airport, bus driver hardly spoke, seemed annoyed that we were waiting at the stop . Dropped us at the depot, again he hardly spoke when we thanked him, just pointed the way and mumbled something.
Staff on desk very helpful and quick and friendly, she directed us to the car. However wrong car in the numbered parking bay, staff desk now busy so I looked around for our car but no luck. Asked a member of staff who was in the car park, another who seemed annoyed that we needed assistance, he took keys from me without speaking and walked off clicking the fob at every car, I finally located car myself parked against the main building in the bus drop off area.
Returning the car could not have been more different. friendly staff directing where to park, very friendly desk staff and happy chatty bus driver back to Airport. Must have been a bad day on the day we picked up the car, but would use again purely based on the drop off experience.
J. G.100€ reservation for 5 days, another 100€ for insurance (to put our liability to 0€ in case of damage to everything incl. windscreen cover or theft) is cheap enough for a group of 4. (10€/day/person)
and with that insurance you dont have to care too much about scratches you WILL get on the tight irish roads.
Friendly, fast staff at the airport Terminal, took 2mins for me to get the keys. No problem getting a diesel so the fuel cost is a lot lower. (They charge you 107€ for fuel, but you get that back at return when you bring the car back with full tank of fuel). Car was parked close to the Terminal rental office. Car practicly new with 5.000km on it.
Return office staff friendly, not much room to park at the Dublin center rental location, but you have fuel pump right next to location which is very convenient.

c. m.Good rental experience overall and I have rented from Budget many times over the past 20 years, however, the vehicle was only OK, a Toyota Avensis Diesel with 105,000 miles on it, in the states we have a company called rent a wreck and what I was provided on this trip is the type of vehicles that they rent. Staff was efficient on both ends but Budget IE should consider getting high mileage vehicles out of their fleet.
C.Pick up airport side on arrivals very smooth, staff friendly and courteous. Car available within a short walk and I was on the road within less than 10 mins from picking up the keys.
When returning the car allow extra time as returns is at a remote area. Due the amount of cars located at this area and subsequent waiting at the return desk, you should to be on the safe side and allow 2 hrs from drop off to actual arrival back to terminal. Be aware if driving extensively in Ireland the motorways have electronic licence plate tolls, where you have 24 hrs to pay for the discounted rate for using them. Payment can be made at any petrol station, there is also a payment station with the returns area. Car Prices for Budget are competitive, but like ever other company they are out to make extra money selling additional insurance and for gps, etc. Overall experience very good and will use again. D. D.Staff was friendly and answered all the questions I had. The car we rented was a good choice, but was hard with our bags. Next time would have to figure out luggage before renting. Only complaint I would have were the cars breaks were pretty squeaky. Besides that I would recommend Budget to anyone looking !

No problem with returns, very fast!! Iceland (4 days) & Ireland (9 days) all went well May 2016.
