O. M.Lovely hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A few things were off the menu which was disappointing, but great to see local establishments being busy again after lockdown. Would recommend.
m. 5.I stayed here with my family for a long weekend. The breakfast made the trip for me personally. The staff I encountered were some of the best in hospitality. A worker named Emma at the breakfast catered to all my requests, excellent customer service.

J. C.Hotel is in a great location, food was really nice and staff were friendly. Only thing letting it down for us was the room. The shower was only ok, could have been better, but the mattress was terrible. Worst bed I ever slept in. The springs were poking through and I was crippled each morning after getting up. If management could fix a few of these things they could have a really decent hotel on their hands!
G. B.Just back from a stay here 11-13th August 2021. Shared a room with my 2 kids. The room was very clean, spacious. Bed linen spotless. The shower always had hot water. We ate in restaurant first night cos of package deal. Food was excellent, service was also excellent. We were well looked after by a very professional young man called Aaron. Similar meal in bar the second night and great service also. Staff are young but very friendly. I'll definitely be going back.
J. K.I visited the Hotel to see my daughter who was a guest with her friends. It was a busy Saturday evening when I arrived. The restaurant was packed , as was the bar. The young staff were friendly and helpful but they were under pressure as they seemed to be understaffed. The food took a while to come but was very nice when it arrived. However the entire public areas were filthy. The reception and seating area deside had been littered throughout the day and nobody was picking up. Where I was sitting had cups, plates and saucers randomly stroon about the place and I sat there for three hours and not one was cleaned up. The restaurant was worse as cutlery, napkins and food was left on the floor for the next couple of hours until closing time. At that point it was cleaned up by the young staff in preparation for breakfast. This is not a cheap hotel at nearly €150 per night and my daughter and her friends who were resident were shocked as were myself and my wife. Thank you to the overworked and understaffed members of Staff who did their jobs very well under pressure but we did not enjoy our experience and shall not be returning.

A. Q.This was our 2nd time staying in the Pillo after a trip to Tayto Park. Overall we had a great time, however extreme heat in the room which was almost unbearable to sleep in, and a very rude restaurant manager resulted in our stay being marred. His manners, tone and interpersonal skills to guests leave alot to be desired. The rest of the staff, especially the bar staff and servers in the restaurant were so friendly and attentive.
I would still recommend this hotel to families as its very child friendly and the food is fantastic.

L.Our stay this time wasn't as good as the other times we have been,the air conditioning was broken and even though we had 3 fans in our room it was still over 30 degrees in the room, the windows were locked and they couldn't find keys for them . The pool was also closed. Hopefully they get this sorted soon because there was a lot of complaints and refunds being given.

D. Q.My husband and I stayed in the Pilo Hotel the 25th Aug till the 27th Aug although it was a short stay we were made feel very very welcome all the staff couldn't do enough for us. I am a wheelchair user and I requested an accessible room of which we were given and I was very pleased, it was so spacious and certainly not like an assault course, like some of the hotels we have stayed in and it "was" an accessible wetroom, with a proper fold down seat, which a lot of hotels don't have but say they do. I requested a fan, no problem, one arrived in minutes. We ordered breakfast to our room on the first morning, it came piping hot and on the time we requested and was delicious. We went for dinner in the bar Thursday evening and didn't realise we had to book and thought we were going to have to eat elsewhere but no, it wasn't an issue, not only did the Mâtre D accommodate us, he sat us at a beautifully laid out table in a nice spacious section in the restaurant so we would be comfortable. Then we were served by Aaron who was an absolute gentleman, this young man will make a great Mâtre D some day, he was so cheerful, polite, very efficient and really helpful even down to helping us choose the wine. We also had the pleasure of being waited on by Ciara again I have to say so cheerful, polite, very efficient and really helpful. They created a cheerful.delightful, and heartwarming dining experience and no request was too big or too small.Our meals came within minutes and again piping hot and soo delicious 😋. Aaron and Ciara surprised me with a complimentary desert, decorated with lighting candles and singing a rendition of Happy Birthday better than any x factor audition, they got me good, it was so special. I have to commend the Pilo Hotel they really have outstanding staff. From the reception, who I would also like to thank Sarah whom if not for her directions we would have had to get a bus to Dublin Airport then another bus to the hotel as per her guidance we only had to get one bus just a few minutes from where we live, so thank you Sarah. I make no apologies for this review being so long I always give an honest review and always give credit where its due. Thank you to the pilo Hotel for an amazing stay especially the breakfast staff, lunch staff on our first day and most of all Aaron and Ciara on Thursday evening we had a very memorable night and stay and will most certainly be returning. We would highly recommend The Pilo Hotel and would have given a 10 star rating if it was an option.

E. M.I received the best ever service in this hotel from Friday 16 - Sun 18th July. All staff members were amazing, friendly and efficient. In particular, the restaurant staff were fantastic, adhering strictly to Covid policy whilst maintaining a very friendly and competent service (Hiya Megan!). The Reception staff were excellent, and we received prompt attention in the form of a very pleasant and efficient plumber who came to fix the sink. The food was delicious, the hotel spotless clean, the rooms well- appointed AND we were given a fan to cool us as well as the air conditioning because we were melting in the tropical heat of the past few days! We are definitely planning a return visit soon, and hope that the pool will be open then. It was, apparently, due a long-awaited overhaul and is in the middle of that process as of posting this review. I hope we will again find the Pillo hotel as excellent as experienced, and even better with the re-opened swimming pool!

The Food was a quantam leap beyond my expectation and attention to detail with regards to customer satisfaction seemed high on the agenda. It was a pleasure to feel such appreciation as a resident. The fact that absolutely everything you could possibly need was within walking distance of the hotel was the cherry on top. The lighting from the hotel at night when viewed from outside was just magical.

s.Hotel is nice and food was great but the heat in the room was unbearable, had to request fans for the rooms. Also stayed here 4 months previous and the thermostat was broken and room was freezing.

The Leisure Centre is top class with a pool. It is a pleasant spot and the staff are always kind and it is very very good value. For anyone who does not know Ashbourne and the location of the Hotel - it is ideally located - equidistant more of less from Dublin City Centre, Dublin Airport and The Blanchardstown Shopping Centre - and you are right on the N2 road to Derry and all the sights along that route. Great tourist base. And there is enough man-guarded and CCTV monitored parking with pass coded barriers to accommodate 100's of cars. I would recommend this property to Business and Leisure travellers. I enjoyed my stay and I will go back again when I am in town.

C. C.We stayed here in a family room for 1 night last week. Hotel was spotless, room was huge even had a fridge which sounds silly but was a huge plus. Pool was great kids loved the 'bubbles' part. We had a 2 course meal included in our package and food in the restaurant was amazing even the rolls for the soup were so fresh. Staff were extremely helpful breakfast was lovely kids loved the pancakes! The playroom although small was a huge plus for the kids.

s. l. (.Stopped by for a quick bite of lunch in restaurant. Lovely atmosphere nice lighting and charming staff. Mix of corporate clients and families enjoying lunch. Quite a spacious restaurant too. Menu is good from club sandwiches or wraps to hot food, and lots of sides. Not expensive at all. €10 buys you a side salad with wrap and a soft drink. Food itself was well presented, very fresh, and at the right temperature too. There was a real taste of chicken off the chicken like it was free range but I dont know for sure if it was or wasn't 🤷♀️I really enjoyed it.... would totally eat here again.

K. P.We really loved our stay here. My husband and I stayed with our 3 children for easier travel to Tayto Park. The restaurant was so tasty, from snacks to main meals. Even the childrens meals were delicious which is rare! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the use of the pool was fab (need swim caps which they sell if you need). The rooms were big and comfy. My children keep asking to return so will have to see what we can do!

H.I booked a night away here for myself and my 2 kids, had b&b plus 2 course evening meal prepaid, arrived , checked in all was fine, went to the bar for lunch, the bar man had no time for kids, totally ignored my kids, was actually a bit rude to all the punters, I thought the bar food was well over priced, a chicken burger with chips was €15. Ridiculous as it's no frills, sauces or a bit of salad even, the breakfast is great, loads of options.
F. H.I stayed recently at this hotel with my three children aged between 7and 18. On arrival check-in staff were very helpful and had a very welcoming attitude. The room was very clean, unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work and our room temperature stayed at 29 during our two day stay.
We decided to eat at the hotel bar the first evening as it looked very pleasant. It was quite expensive, for example 16.95 euro for burger and chips. The condiment tray was left at our table and I lifted the mustard jar to use. When I opened it there was nothing in it except dried up mustard around the sides. On further examination the mustard was a few months out of date. My oldest child then noticed that there was dried in snot and hair on his glass which is totally unacceptable.
I brought these two issues to a member of staff and merely got a shrug of the shoulders. As I am not a confrontational person I did not take the matter further. I didn't allow my children to eat the remainder of there meal and paid the bill and left. I ordered my children pizza from a nearby take away and we sat outside and ate. After consumption of the food a member of staff rudely informed us in front of other guests that we were not allowed to eat food at the hotel that was not purchased in the hotel. I was not aware of this but was extremely embarrassed to be chastised like a child in front of other guests.
Other guests were enjoying food that had not been purchased from the hotel but were not told off.
On returning to the room that evening, we noticed that dirty and wet towels were folded up and placed back on the towel rack with the clean towels. The breakfast tray was not restocked either.
The next day I went to the bar to order two lemonades for my children. I was the only person standing at the bar. I stood there for approximately five minutes while five staff members made themselves look busy whilst ignoring my presence. Again as I am not confrontational I merely stood there and waited until someone served me.
I have stayed at a lot of hotels and never once felt the need to write a poor review but on this occasion I felt it was necessary.
A. C.We arrived Monday evening for a one night stay. The staff were very friendly especially so in the restaurant. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite on the fifth floor. It is so close to Tayto Park, less than 5 mins by car. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
C. “. M.Room was very noisy as above some sort of vent system and had to move. Phone to reception not working, reception staff not very helpful, hard bed and pillows, no water in the rooms unlike other similar rated hotels, hot and cold taps not standard. Food is very good. Didn't try the leisure facilities.
v. f.At an afternoon tea baby brunch (baby shower). Hotel modern, contemporary and clean lines. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food exquisite. Atmosphere relaxing and very enjoyable. We were looked after really well. I will be back

Myself and my friend popped into the hotel yesterday evening around 9pm on the way home from visiting someone in hospital and we both longed for a nice coffee. We were greeted very warmly by a young man called Cian who seated us and told us we could have whatever we wanted...even at this late hour. We had beautifully presented apple crumble and chocolate fondant and lovely coffee served with a smile and lots of banter.
That young man lifted my spirits and was a terrific front man for your hotel. Well done.
PS The hotel was buzzing with lots of people milling around.

B. R.TV wasn't working and bar food only available which was disappointing. Breakfast good next day but the 2 issues above let down a mother and daughter 1 night get away. Room was clean but quite cold until we got heating working. Quite expensive and no deductions for tv problem. In fact got charged for late checkout although hotel far from full. Wasn't impressed as we were regular guests. May rethink this.

A. C.Nice staff and good service, but the hotel is badly in need of some renovation. Tha carpet on the stairs is badly worn, the furniture in the bedrooms need to be replaced. However that didn't stop them charging 5 star prices in the bar.
M. G.Went for the weekend with the family and it was so good to see that they have things for the kids to do. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves while the kids played in the games room or when to watch a movie. There was also a kids club they did with activities and dinner.

C. C.There is ample carparking available. The reception area is bright and airy. Large function rooms are available for private sittings. I have not stayed at this hotel so i can't comment on the bedrooms, or facilities associated. The restroom facilities associated with the private rooms are clean an well maintained overall i would recommend this hotel

C. D.I know it was the first week of work being done to the hotel, but it was very badly organise. Both my husband and I witnessed several arguments amount staff. There were many mix ups with people's bills and the service was very poor. Food was OK. Playroom good for the smaller children.

A. K.Great hotel location. Benefits from its legacy of being formerly a Marriott designed and fitted hotel. Redesign of the bar dining area has destroyed the comfortable atmosphere that formerly existed. With little investment in good staff, service is mediocre. 🙁
e. k.Had our wedding here . Where do i start? the staff here are amazing they went above and beyond to make sure everybody was looked after . Richard was very accommodating and catered to what we wanted. There were a few elements of surprise there also which we both really enjoyed. Francesca is excellent at her job and put both our minds at ease throughout this process . An amazing day was had by all.
O.Not a bad hotel with nice big rooms. Good free Wifi reception in the bedrooms. The pool was big with an nice hot jacuzzi. There was plenty of free parking at front. However I did find some of the bar staff where very cheeky when I asked if they sold crisps and peanuts at the bar. The other problem was the car park exit barrier. This was a joke and was causing so many problems with every other car trying to get out. It was set up that you could drive in ok but you needed a code to get out. I had to leave my car at the exit barrier and run back to the hotel reception to ask what the code was as the exit intercom system on the barrier was not working. I rated the hotel 3 stars because of these problems but I would have given this hotel 5 otherwise.
T. D.Stayed here last year for my brothers wedding food service staff was excellent beds are sooo comfortable gourgess clean hotel rooms. We went back yesterday to celebrate my brothers one year anniversary rooms beds staff was excellent. However we booked a table in time restaurant 4 of us ordered hot chilli wings for starter they all were served cold we sent them back we spoke to a man on the next table and he also sent he's wings back it turned us off the meal as it was a bit of a wait for more wings the goats cheese starter was presented well but tasted bland it wasn't up to standard. My brother who's wedding anniversary meal it was orderd sirleion steak we all got our meals and he was left with no meal 😥 the waitress was lovely she tried to sort it she said there was a mix up with orders due to us sending back wings 🙄 I didn't understand that ! He eventually got the steak but we were all nearly done our food and it was after all he's anniversary it just wasn't up to the standard as last year. He was very disappointed. We had to ask for my sons dessert. We spoke to manager he gave us a glass of proseecoo each 5 adults and took money off bill which was ok.

W.Room Service Ice Cream served on plate and had turned to soup, Easter Sunday breakfast my daughter's glass had a chip in it and her special order pancakes could have been used as weapons they were so hard, she couldn't eat them. Most of the staff were polite, evening meal was good. A roof over your head and close to Tayto park, wouldn't recommend it.
A. M.We stayed at the Pillo hotel on Thursday and Friday night last week. The hotel itself was spotless staff extremely friendly,however, when I arrived home discovered a jumpsuit had been left behind in bed room 402 I phoned housekeeping nothing found I was advised by housekeeping, the lady who answered was extremely evasive gave me an answer too quickly if one had to refer to computer or sheets it would take a minute or two to look up details also she advised she would call me back that certainly didn't happen. I called again after two days spoke to reception first, the lady there was so nice understanding but still no sign of item left in room. I know for a fact left it in the bed room. Very disappointed as we have stayed in this hotel so many times won't be there again that's for sure. I thought this should be mentioned as when one is away from home we bring our best clothes and if we can't leave something in our bed room very sad.

We we're looked after from the very beginning by Francessca this women has to be the most down to earth person I've ever met. She's a true saint and we felt very relaxed throughout our year of planning with francessca. She let us plan a package to suit are party with no hessitation. She also decorated our room amazingly.
On our big day we were looked after and treated like royalty by Richard he kept everything in order and smoothly running. Richard treated all of our guests amazingly he had so much time for them and catered to there every need. Along with Richard in the ballroom we had Oliver looking after us he was a pleasure to deal with.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. They looked after our party so we'll. The food was just amazing so fresh and we'll presented. Some of the alcohol drinks ran out at the end of the wedding night and the next day at our BBQ party even more were not available. That was the only downfall. But all in all our experience was just perfect.

It is beautifully located across the round-about at the very north end of the M2 (off the M50), in Ashbourne in Co. Meath. They have a Swimming Pool + Gym, a great Bar area staffed with brilliant bar staff, and the food served up is just delicious!

However the Pillo hotel was well up to their Michelin Star standard and to be fair to them they work hard for their money and only expect what they deserve. The location was very convenient and Ashbourne is a great little town with plenty of shops and restaurants. Rooms were well designed but felt a little tacky with poor maintenance. The air conditioner was broken and the bed headboards were tacked on with screws that seemed shoddy. leak stains were visible on the ceiling.

I took 2 stars away for the food and the look of the outside of the building. The meets were over cooked and dry, I sampled both the turkey and ham as well as the beef.
There was a cutlery and sauce holder on all the tables outside, for customers who were ordering food. They were left on the tables all day in the searing heat, I’m pretty sure that’s not a place to leave mayonnaise. Eww
The look of the building is just a personal opinion, I just thought considering it’s a relatively new building sitting outside looking at it, it’s just ugly.

4. L.I recently had a very important event held in The Rath Ballroom, Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne , it was our son's Christening and 1st Birthday Celebration. For us, it is one of the most important event...especially in our culture as a Catholic.
I highly recommend Richard Nolan and his team for looking after us very well. He's very approachable, very patient and nice in talking with us and with the rest of our guests. Also Kiera at the reception, she's very friendly and nice. Conor and Jeremy, for their assistance during the preparation of our venue. The party went well and everyone is Happy and satisfied. Food is lovely as expected. There's no Burger for the Children, but it's ok, Children is Happy enough with other choices, which is very important.
The only problem that we've encountered was upon checking in last Saturday, 2nd of December, a day before our party. My husband was asking for the room number and for the key so we can bring our children inside with a lot of our things ( luggages, boxes, children stuff etc...) Lolita, in the reception insisted that we are not paid yet for our room. I told her, " we did settle yesterday, Friday, 1st of December, Francesca, the Event Manager, was there during our payment .
Lolita told us that we have only paid for the Function, not the Hotel Room. That is why I told my husband to speak with Lolita, so I can get our receipt of payment. During that conversation, Lolita gone away from her front desk to call the Manager, which is Chris. My husband spoke with them and Chris agreed with Lolita that we are not paid and we cannot check in until we pay for our room. Lolita even asked for my card for the payment.
The queue got longer that time and all of them in the queue were looking at us. That HUMILIATION that they've caused us ( Lolita and Chris ) in the Hotel Reception...that we can't get in because we are not paid, is NOT a GOOD EXPERIENCE at all. The first time ever, Embarrassing Experience, after a long and multiple times that we are having parties with friends and checking in at Pillo Hotel.
Well, In fact...it was paid! That treatment is very unacceptable!!!
Our children, all waiting in the car with our good friends who gave us a lift to Pillo Hotel...also patiently waited for quite long...around 30 minutes. Francesca knew what happened previously with us. Yes, we are stressed, our children got sick few weeks back, I got sick as well, our car was broken, that is why we just took a bus just to meet Francesca and Pay our remaining balance for the party last Friday, 1st of December. To make the long story short, we wanted to settle earlier including the room so that there will be no problem upon checking in with our 4 children over the weekend.
My 1 year old and 3 years old got high temps Sunday am, just before the party. Yes, it's because of the cold weather over the weekend. It caused us more stress, that supposedly we have checked in a night before so that we are able to relax and feel comfortable, especially our 4 children.
I hope this will never happen again to us and to anybody. It is very Humiliating Experience for me and my husband. We have saved our money...to pay for everything in our very important event...just to be treated like this in your 4 Star Hotel. We will be there again on the 8th of December, for CFC-FFL Christmas Party. I already told Francesca about my reservation for a Family Room, discounted for a block booking. I need reassurance that this will never happen again...especially together with our children.
I hope you understood our situation...the apologies of Lolita, Chris and Francesca were accepted. But what can we do, the damage was done...my husband and I, still felt traumatised with that experience in the Pillo Hotel Reception.

C.Following a disruptive few days as a result of unusual weather conditions which resulted in many people, including myself, being stranded and unable to get flights to their destination, I was fortunate, through the airline I was booked with, to be allocated a room at Pillo's Hotel in Ashbourne Co Meath. What an incredible experience. I cannot praise the management and staff enough for there patience understanding and excellent service under such difficult conditions. The comaradie amongst the staff and customers was contagious, so much so that one felt like one big family. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble and any requests were dealt with wherever and whenever possible. Despite the disappointment of being unable to continue my journey, i felt as if I had had quite a break and at the same time met and made friends with some amazing people. I will certainly recommend Pillo's and hope one day to return. Thank you Pillo's for a memorable stay.

R.I was a guest at a wedding on 27th July..& from the moment we arrived the warm and friendly staff made us so welcome & comfortable...constantly on hand if needed..I am on portable oxygen and on entering the banqueting suite I realised I was too far from a mains supply but within minutes the Manager Richard had it sorted..table moved & plastic safety cable tubing laid ..it was so efficient and I felt like a valued guest rather than a nuisance and that is priceless so again Thank you Richard and I can't wait to return again..

•We asked about the kids club which are usually complementary with hotels but the receptionist said it was €10 per child they would get fed with that price , €10 is pretty good I suppose if you want your kids fed and entertained- we have been to plenty of hotels in the past where kids are welcome to the kids club for games or a movie we have never been charged for it

The room was immaculately clean there was a nice view of a field from the window , the beds were firm and good quality linen , the room was equipped with a smart tv

*!The only thing which was a massive flaw was there was a fan or a tank of water above in the ceiling it was ever so loud 3 out of 4 of us did not sleep my 6 year old could barely cope with the noises sounds and drips and tapping noise in the room from about 11 pm onwards felt like it was in the room

•the children’s area or first floor was a relaxing place comfortable seating a bar , a play room for younger kids , a games room with fusbal, ice hockey , table tennis although bat was missing unfortunately, but a fun interactive space for the family , also there was a bored game night on which included all the family favourites a nice promotion of family quality time ,well done to the hotel for this room we enjoyed the first floor
