Ards is just one of those places, you can go for a short walk along the side of the Friary quietly walking through the trees and the sea on one side looking across Into Rosapenna golf courses which runs nearly the length of Tramore Beach, back at the Friary their is a great coffee shop.as for the Friary its self is beautiful, quiet and anyone could just sit on one of the pews and just enjoy the whole ambiance of peace.

Absolutely stunning place. There is a tea room in the Friary with lovely treats. You can walk along the shore and enjoy beautiful views. Be aware of ticks. They are plenty in the grass in the whole Ards forest park. Just stay on the paths and check your legs regularly.
G. T.
Very tranquil and peaceful place as you would imagine a friary to be. What you don't expect is the stunning view and lovely beach just metres from the main building. It was a cracking wee place to stop off on the way to Dunfanaghy. Lots of history and information on display. There's a great wee cafe on site and ample parking though it is a one way system. The front is manned by the brothers and there is a wee holy shop for souvenirs. Very relaxed and meditative, every one that we spoke with were very friendly and almost spiritual. Lovely place at the brotherhood of peace. 🙏
R. M.
Quiet and peaceful part of the world, stunning beaches after about 10/15 walk around the headland. Stunning views of the bay on the way round
M. S.
Always been going here for the cliff walk and nature trail. Start at the monastery and keep going round up over the cliff until you get to the forest. Really nice memorable walk. Couldn't see the reindeer this time.
D. L.
Fabulous place to visit.. Lovely walks with little beaches, beautiful scenery and walks.. Lovely cafe, shop and Church...

Beautiful spiritual place. It's having work done on our visit, cafe was closed but the church and grounds are marvellous. Loads of parking right at lovely sandy beaches 5 minutes away.
M. S.
Beautiful place, lovely beaches and a coffee shop to chill in.
A. H.
In a lovely setting and one of my father-in-law favourite places to visit.
N. B.
Utterly stunning scenery. One of my favourite places to go in Donegal for a walk. Suitable for all age groups and dogs allowed.
S. C.
Incredible location. A Must see!!
T. M.
Peaceful and stunning setting the staff, priests and brothers were very helpful and friendly - if going please be respectful
A. I.
One of my all time favourite locations in Donegal for a walk. The friary has a shop and cafe. Walking off behind the friary through the woods gives access to a number of beaches and headland with amazing views out to the Atlantic and the other headlands. You can go for a short walk or an all day beach visit. Note there are no lifeguards at any of the beaches and they are very secluded.
P. H. U.
One of the best spots in Donegal by far.
U. M.
I love this very special place. It is a stunning setting.
The cafe staff were so pleasant, informative and helpful.
The chapel is so restful and peaceful, a perfect place to live in the present moment in the presence of God.
J.
Lovely walk. Varied landscape from beaches to hills.
F. C.
A unique experience in many ways, breathtaking scenery with paths running alongside magical beaches leading to Ards forest park, the beautiful Friary, Chapel, gift shop & Cafe. My family were humbled to meet monks on retreat who explained they didn't own the robes they were wearing, what a contrast to a world where success is measured in material things, a must visit location
A. M. N.
Wonderful place of interest - the paths around are good for walking right out to the view point which overlooks Sheephaven bay.
Café inside the Friary has baked treats available, ice cream freezer, good barista style coffee, syrups and dairy free milks for those that require such.
M. M. C.
5 euro payment per car. Poor signage from car park to indicate where to find picnic tables. Main sign at car park indicates deer enclosure but no additional signs to deer and on line map excludes reference to deer enclosure.
J. M.
Beautiful peaceful place ,amazing scenery ,always vist when down that way. Also great cafe with homemade soup wheaten bread etc great coffee
C. V.
Ards friary is beautiful with a gorgeous church and the Capochin priests are welcoming as are the people working there. The beach is close by with people walking their dogs along the grass. It is a beautiful scenic place
N. W.
This place is fab for a looped walk and very well sign posted and a lovely cafe on return for coffee and cake.
M. G.
Ards Friary beautiful tranquil. Walk along and you come across Isabella little beach great for little ones. Walk on around the coast and find Lucky shell beach.
C. R.
Beautiful gardens lovely little church with a gift shop.. it's cost 5 euros to enter and park or u can walk the 5k in thru the forest...has a little coffee shop gorgeous beach and a park for kids

Great food and service

On the 19th August 2022, I went over to Ards Friary to have a look around the area. It has both a church, gift shop & a coffee shop. I went into the church for silent prayer for a short while before leaving the church to have a look inside the gift shop which is next door to the church & then proceeded to the foot way which takes you into Ards Forest Park & alongside Sheephaven Bay. We then came back to the car Park & went into the coffee shop & had a soft drink before heading home. The Friary is just off the main Letterkenny to Dunfanaghy road & is down a Lane Way. It is sign posted so you should hopefully find it easily. This place is fully open again after being temporarily closed for 2 years, due to The Covid Pandemic of 2020. It is well worth a visit for those of you, who are on holiday here in County Donegal. Stephen Acton.

The environment is just amazing. A visit there is very worthwhile.
Walk in the forest or hike along the coast. You can experience a lot there.
Great beaches and a great view of the coast. From there you can also reach the surrounding forests. There is a small café and a large parking lot. This has always been free of charge. However, donations are accepted.
It's really worth it and we always enjoy going there
I. B.
