Myself and four neighbours who live in Charlestown went for lunch in the Bayleaf this afternoon and our meals were absulately super, service was excellent and staff very friendly, one of the ladies who we think is the manageress also checked on us several times and as one of our party had a birthday recently was presented with cake and candles , we had a long chat afterwards and no one rushing us to leave, as we left there was a friendly goodbye from the manageress and a birthday greeting again to our neighbour, we will definitely be back sooner rather that later, thanks very much to all staff and management for great food and friendly service. I would like to say the place is so welcoming and family friendly (which it is) Im just extremely disappointed that you have no vegan stuff whatsoever. As a vegan that does not support the dairy industry, the egg industry and the meat industry I'm horrified that there's nothing vegan in there. Also the staff are incredibly rude and grumpy (except the man that works at the till) -he's really happy and joyful. I just think you should add vegan options in there. But other than that I think its a lovely place 😊

A hidden gem. A great place for lunch with the family. The staff have a great system so you don't have to worry about getting a table, as it's a very busy place. The staff will show you to your table and pop a reserved sign on it so you can go up and order in peace. The food is fresh, tasty and just good honest food and the portions are not shy. They also do a half portion of the carvery for kids or they have a kids menu. The deserts are home made and sinfully good. The owner is always around and very welcoming and friendly as are all the staff. It's a great place and we have always enjoyed everything meal we have had there. It's a true hidden gem nestled in Horkans Garden Centre.

Visited for a nice lunch with family but was disappointed sadly. The sandwiches were very dry with little taste, had to put salt on the filling. Bread tasted like it had been left lying out and latte was extremely weak, to be honest was more hot milk than anything. A real shame as in my opinion it's to expensive for the basic dishes to be poor quality, average 10 euros a person for us.

This place is brilliant. I typically wouldn't expect to find such high quality food within a garden centre but this place is an exception. I visited on a sunny sunday and had a great carvery dinner, the beef was the nicest I'd tasted for a long time. All of the food on the hot counter looked really fresh and was being constantly replenished. The portions were very generous and the food is very reasonably priced. Finally, the staff were friendly and helpful, I couldn't fault them! I'll definitely be back to the Bay Leaf and will be recommending it to friends and family.

The best service I've ever experienced, the best food also. The manager (Paul O'Neill) is one of nicest most welcoming person you'll ever want to meet. I'd say he treats his staff well so then they can reflect their high spirits onto the customers. The Bay Leaf is located within Horkans Garden centre and it overlooks the beautiful greenery of the plants etc on sale, this atmosphere is very relaxing which adds to the already high standards. Thank you so much, you've a customer for life!

Best little restaurant. This is a little gem hidden away in horkins garden centre castlebar. It's always busy but they have a really good system a staff member meets you by the door and will put a reservation on a table for you so you can go up and get your food. The food is second to none and they are not shy loading the plate. It's a child friendly place and have a lovely kiddie's menu. They have lovely healthy options if that takes your fancy. The desserts and home made and lovely. The boss keeps a close eye on everything and he is usually at the till and is a true gentleman. Nothing is too much trouble for this gent and he and his lovely staff will make sure you leave happy and full.

Mary and Ivan couldn’t be more helpful in assisting a family member with mobility issues - thanks to them and their lovely staff - particularly the young man and young lady who looked after us - we enjoyed a stress free lunch and more of the divine Viennese whirls .
