Love the place! Very friendly staff. One suggestion though, I believe it is better to use a number system instead of calling out the customers name when their order is ready. Most people don't like their name called out loud in public. Only a small thing, but it can make a difference!

Magical place, visited here today, had my dog with me, these guys were so friendly and accommodating, delicious food, beautiful surroundings and cosy establishment, and tasty vegan options.

What a beautiful place for a Cafe, an old mill on the Banks of the river Barrow, stopped off there for a Pizza , it was a delicious, loads of picnic tables area kept spotless staff were friendly, and professional every Covid precautions were taken , if I lived near there I would be a frequent visitor.

Exceptional! Came down for the annual shad fishing and stopped in the cafe on both days for lunch. With pizza as good as any i have had in Italy and one of the best brownies ive ever had. If you are walking in St.Mullins the Mullichain Cafe is well worth your visit.

What a special resting place after the wonderful walk along the Barrow banks from Graiguenamanagh! Beautiful serene view from the banks of the river, friendly service, excellent coffee and treats. But the icing on the cake was the remarkably kind lift to our ongoing destination from Martin- with local stories all the way. Such hospitality. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Thank you. We’ll be back!

Lovely setting on the banks of the River Barrow, great buzz with this Beautiful weather. Friendly staff though service was very slow,10/15mins waiting THEN we went inside, but were sorted promptly then thanks to the Owner I think! We had tea & cake reasonably priced for where you are ,will return to try out something more substantial on the Menu sooner rather than later!

To be honest I didn't eat there but the fare looked great. Spoke to the owner and his son on their break and found them enthusiastic and informative. Stunning unspoilt Riverside setting and an ideal jumping off spot for walking up the river or canoeing down it.

Friendly, welcoming Cafe with a lovely menu with freshly made/home made food.. Great dessert menu especially. We noticed that It also has a beer and wine licence so handy for those who'd like a drink with their meal. Opens from 11am to 6pm. The staff are really lovely. Lovely views of the Adjacent river Barrow with plenty of outdoor seating. It's a beautifully restored Grain Store with lots of local historic photos and information displayed on the Cafe walls. Upstairs they have nice couches too with lots of Irish folklore and history books. Our kids loved the pizza, home made cookies and hot chocolates. We visited St. Mullins in our motorhome and found the village very welcoming. Highly recommend visiting here if in the area, lots of lovely walks in the area. Thanks Mullichain Cafe

Cycled along the towpath from Graiguenamanagh to this little gem of a cafe.Fabulous location with lovely staff. We had some really nice locally brewed beer and other beverages. Top marks to you I will definitely call again.

Mullichain Cafe located along the scenic River Barrow, St. Mullin's, County Carlow is a unique & interesting Cafe. They have a very homely atmosphere in the second floor & serves good & well prepared food & drinks. Highly recommendable to visit whenever one visits St. Mullins. June 2017, as tourists, we came here again with relatives.
We visited again this scenic cafe/restaurant, beside River Barrow, during our recent visit to Ireland, May 2019. Highly recommendable.

An excellent little cafe that has great food and drink! We ended our kayaking trip with Pure Adventure here and were famished...thankfully, this cafe had just what we needed, good hot food (the pizza is amazing), hot tea and desserts that warmed our hearts and filled our bellies. Highly recommended! ;)

Lovely little cafe after the walk from Graignemanagh and a nice location to sit by the river. I was disappointed by the food portion size. (Pate)
D. M.
Been to st mullins plenty of times but this was my first time eating at the cafe and I wasn't disappointed!. Friendly, accommodating staff. Delicious food - I had the chicken ceaser salad and a glass of the nicest sauv blanc I've ever had, but I forgot to ask the name of the bottle and where I could find it so if you see this let me know please 😁💖

This is probably the best situated cafe or restaurant in Ireland, where you can sit within feet of the river and enjoy simple, fresh and inexpensive lunches and snacks. Martin, the owner is an amicable host, who enjoys chatting with guests about anything from current affairs to ancient Irish history. You won't find a better place to while away a lazy sunny afternoon, after a walk along the riverbank or maybe even a swim.
I. D.

Stopped off for a coffee. We had scone, apple pie, coffee and it was delicious . Nice spot for a walk along the river. Only negative for me which wasn't related to their business directly but a small elderly Bischon in need of some care.clearly at least partly blind and needed a good grooming
T. O.

As always an absolute delight to lunch at the Mullichain Cafe, sitting out in the warm September sunshine, on the banks of the majestic Barrow. The food delicious and fresh and wholesome, the gluten free choices for those who need them bring it all to the next level! Thank you. Look forward very much to returning!
D. K.
Fantastic, lovely food and so kind & thoughtful to leave out life jackets for everyone to use. Just on a note ( nothing to do with the cafe) I would love if people wouldn't leave their rubbish on the riverbank!

Stopped by today after an enjoyable river walk, food and service is exceptional, every one of the staff members were so welcoming and so friendly to our two children one of whom has a gluten sensitivity and they catered for him above and beyond even down to gluten free crips with his ham gf toastie. Hands down the best lunch we have had in Wexford during our staycation, we'll definitely be returning to Mullichain Cafe!

Excellent pizza in a gorgeous location that's well maintained. On a sunny day swimming in the river right on the cafés doorstep is unbeatable. Also a little dog (I think bichon friche) potters around outside and he is delightful, possibly blind but a lovely dog none the less 😂
M. P.

A lovely place. the setting is beautiful, the staff were lovely and entertaining, the tea and coffee were nice, the food was ok. If the food had been just a touch better, there would be a fourth star. Perhaps I'm being a city-living fussy bugger.

A lovely cafe located on the banks of the River Barrow in the village of St Mullins. Has a cosy fire downstairs and comfy seating upstairs. Good for a light lunch or just a coffee after a walk along the towpath. Good value homemade food. Opens right up to the end of October which is handy for late season walkers.
P. B.
Everything looked fantastic but was only average.
L. B.
A cafe at St Mullins. Beautiful area for a walk. Had home made hummus with toast and small salad. Disappointed with the salad as the description of salad was not what we got, mainly lettuce leaves. Coffee was bitter and slightly burnt.
M. H.

Delightful stop while in St. Mullins. We had a cappuccino and shared a scone that was served outside by the river with butter, jam and whipped cream. How nice. Host's were very nice.

4th year relaxing in such wonderful scenic surrounding. Martin, Emer and Mark and the dogs make your stay very welcoming and worthwhile. They all bend over backwards to make your stay memorable. Unfortunately the fishing wasn't on par this year as on other years but that's why it's called fishing and not catching. Already looking forward to the 2019 trip down. Scones and wine are also a nice touch.
M. K.

Loved our stay in The Forge in April 2017 before the crowds invaded Martin, Emer and Mark's privacy. Extraordinary location complemented with great food and superb accommodation. Martin, Emer and Mark could not do enough for us while we were there and also provided us with much useful advice on nearby attractions. Thanks Martin for the tip on the Arboretum at Leighlinbridge. but particularly Rachel's Cafe. The apple pie is some of the best we have ever had anywhere in our travels. When visiting Ireland a stopover is a must at this location

Its a must when visiting the beautiful river Barrow setting of St Mullins. This riverside setting (as well as historic monastery and cairn) is a jewel in Co. Carlows crown, just on the Wexford/New Ross border. And your visit is completed by a plate or even a cuppa with a sweet treatment in the Mullichain Café. Good luck getting one of the outside riverbank tables...
