J. M. m.Spent last weekend at the Prince of Wales hotel & would highly recommend it to anybody.
The welcoming /helpful staff from start to finish, rooms were spotless & very comfortable , the heat can be regulated in the room, I had to reduce the heat which is extremely rare. Location is fantastic.
H. L.Great place to eat and drink. They have a good menu and a good offer of drinks and cocktails, the interior is beautiful, spacious, one of the nicer pubs I’ve been to The martini I received was yellowish in color and was supposed to be reddish and on top was dried lime and it was supposed to be dried passion fruit.

I. k.We have stayed a number of time in the Prince of Wales. The service is excellent from the word go. Aishling who worked on reception and is now a manager is very welcoming and accommodating. She has a smile from the word go and goes out of her way to help.
in all my travels I have never came across a more welcoming and professional girl.
I look forward to many more stays with another one booked for next week.

t. g.ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, we had great stay all the staff was friendly and very helpful. Check in staff very nice and patient on the fone when we were asking for the directions. I will 100% share the experience with my friends
M. M.Beautiful hotel. Food was great and so well presented. All staff were very pleasent and more than attentive which is good in these times when you can't go to the counter for service. My only complaint is that the place was so cold. I don't know if it was air conditioning (middle of October ) or not, but we asked to be moved to another table in another area and it was still breezy. Apart from that we had a pleasant experience.

Very impressed and fantastic customer service,what more can you ask for-my mum said the toilets were immaculate and even hand moisturiser. V. M.Had a lovely stay in the Prince of Wales hotel, room was warm and comfortable, breakfast was delicious. Totally recommend a night or two in those hotel. Great location too.

The hotel is in an excellent central location in the heart of the town, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the restaurant served good food with generous portions, lovely friendly atmosphere within the Hotel and the town itself, and most importantly excellent Civid awareness and adherence to guidelines.

A. T.Stayed here for 3 days and from the time we checked in until we checked out, the staff were so lovely and friendly. Aisling on the desk was super efficient and friendly. The cleaning staff were available for requests and nothing was an issue. The lady on hot buffet, sorry I did not get her name was amazing every morning. Couldn't do enough while serving us. Would definitely recommend this hotel the staff were amazing and the hotel is so centrally located to everything. Will definitely be returning.

I attended a training conference during my staff and the conference room was more than adequate (a bit cold if you were sitting under the air-con!). The hotel was in a convenient location - in walking distance of some really nice restaurants. Overall - a really nice stay at a good price.I'll definitely stay here again the next time I visit Athlone.
p. M.The Prince is a much visited hotel by my wife and I, going back 40 years.
It has a certain charm to it but is starting to show a few signs of wear and tear and could do with a retouch perhaps.
Also the cost of staying there is not cheap, especially midweek when we stayed.
83 euros is a bit overpriced in my opinion.
However I have found that Irish hotels in general do overcharge compared to their European counterparts.
The staff are always friendly, in particular Ahmed and Emily in the bar and at breakfast.
Speaking of which, the breakfast is always a treat and is one of the best we've had anywhere.
Perhaps the late bar food menu could be improved to include some more 'heart warming' dishes like stews or casseroles.
And maybe not so expensive.
Still recommend the Prince though.

I ate in the bar on both evenings I was there and I have to complement the staff on being both very courteous and professional. The meals were served very attentively with a good modern choice on the menu all at a reasonable price. The breakfast room is nice and bright with again a good selection of breakfast options. If you find yourself in Athlone you could not find yourself a better hotel. Highly recommend. 😁👌

G. M.It's not a four star hotel, like they think. But having said that, it is extremely clean and friendly and very helpful staff. It is easy to find, remember it is in Church Street, look for a church. I'd reccomend it and would certainly be back and use it again.

J. H.Receptions staff were amazing, housekeeping fabulous. The breakfast was a bit mah (go to the Loaves & fishes near the castle for one of the best breakfasts ever had).
The hotel bar is busy most evenings, which leads to noise from the street (not the hotels fault). I didn't eat in the bar, but the food looked good. Bar staff were quick, but to busy to engage with the customers.
Private parking is available free of charge.
Hotel is in the centre of the town. A shopping centre is a 2 min walk away, as are all the main town attractions.

Room was very comfy, 3 lovely single beds, small but nice bathroom with super shower, very good nights sleep and a very nice cooked to order breakfast. All for €155 between 3 of us, excellent.

a. k. s.We have just returned after a very relaxing break away. From before we got to the hotel the young vibrant and very efficient receptionist named Aisling was a great help. She is extremely warm and friendly on reception. As we arrived at the hotel we were told we were upgraded this made for a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the tempreature of the room was great not stuffy but could be adjusted.the food was excellent both for dinner and breakfast. There was a lovely warm ambience throughout the hotel. We received a beautiful surprise to our room so a huge thank you Aisling and staff it was 100% appreciated. We will definitely be back. Also today on check out we met another lovely friendly receptionist. Thank you Prince of Wales hotel for a fantastic break away. Antoinette.
T. M.Stayed in this hotel twice. First time in December which was perfect. Second time was in January which was so so. The staff are great and extremely helpful. The food is sensational, cannot fault it. The room standards are where i felt let down. Dated and worn furniture, redicilously small counter by the sink, the shower door opens beside the toilet bowl, a light up mirror that doesnt work, mold on the window, a pubic hair in the beside drawer next to the earplugs supplied (probably due to the night club downstairs), cobwebs on the ceiling. Also asked for a room with a view of the street and got the back lane. Other than these standard issued the stay was good and again the food was amazing.

Two major problems on last years visit, new traffic system being built and hotel was difficult to access by local roads with little or no notification and several of our party were not allocated rooms on arrival therefore rooms had to be shared on first night. Other than that hotel was fine.

G. R.A special mention for the Prince of Wales Hotel. Don't let its underwhelming side entrance, average lobby and single lift to the upper floors fool you. I'm familiar with most of the big hotels in Athlone but don't let first impressions of the Prince of Wales put you off.
I stayed in a standard double. Larger than average and tastefully decorated, a balance between traditional and modern, warm but not cluttered. Speaking of temperature, the room was equipped with a neat wall mounted remote controlled air conditioning unit. And guess what.... it worked, it was easy to set, it kept the room at my chosen 22c for the 18 hours I was there, it was quiet and it didn't generate a gale force wind when it kicked in. The bathroom was spacious and tastefully decorated with two different light settings. Equipped with large bathtub, twin basins, an anti fog mirror and a spacious standalone shower cubicle with powerful shower head and wall jets. Finally the room was equipped with a capsule type coffee maker and the usual the tea making facilities.
Well done to the Prince of Wales. What they might lack in first impressions, they make up for in accommodation and central location.

C.The staff here is AMAZING. Helped us out any time we needed it and they will store your luggage if you are catching a train way later than check out time. They even helped track down my necklace and Crystals I left behind 3 days prior. Only downsides I would say is the doors are very thin so you hear the noises from people fumbling in through the hall. They also need to reinforce their no smoking policy because the first day I arrived, there was a stench coming from someone room

Hotel room perfect, the full Irish breakfast included a slice of black pudding, it did not seem to go down well, compared to the white pudding.
The nightclub can be noisy around the smoking area and the rooms above could avoided.

M. G.I made a booking to stay in the hotel a couple of weeks ago with Lidl Breaks. My booking got lost in the system, however we were given a room immediately followed up with a phone call from Leonie at the desk. She offered us a fantastic deal for two course bar food with B & B.
THe hotel is very comfortable, Rooms have been upgraded and were spacious, spotless and had all of the extras we expect from 4 star hotels. We enjoyed the Big Band playing in the Bar - Big Deal who were outstanding on the night .

The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Nothing is a problem.

Décor all round the Hotel is warm and welcoming.
Lively at weekends in the Bar with live music and there is a night club available for the younger customers.
We will be back to stay at the Prince of Wales Hotel again before too long.
H. T.Rooms are fine but walls quite thin. I was near what I assume was where housekeeping was, doors banging all night which woke me up many times. Too tired to do anything about it, I'm sure they would have accommodated me if I asked.

D. R.Great little hotel in athlone. Rooms are a bit small but it's very comfy. The bar was nice too. Didn't get a chance to eat there however.
S. M.Had chicken stirfry with virtually zero chicken in the dish. Bit much at €12.95 for noodles and few peppars. When I told the lady serving at the counter she took the dish away to put chicken into it. Another lady whom i thought was a supervisor brought the dish back, left it in front of me with no apology or thank you for bringing this matter ti our attention which would have been the correct thing to say. She just said 'now dearie there you are' or used some other condescending such term. No one checked later with me to ask if my meal was ok. Sounds like i am making a big deal over this but when will the irish service industry ever learn how to give good courteous service to its customers. There are lots of places to eat on the way to this hotel!
C. E.The Hotel is central in the Town, the staff friendly and professional, we had a evening meal in the bar and it was of high standard and priced well.
The rooms may not have a view but they are well kept and clean. The only thing that would let the Hotel down is the car park, it is at the rear of the Hotel and small, but i enjoyed my stay there, and would be happy to stay again when in the area.
