Had one of the best meals ever here.
Online reservations are cut off at 15:00 on the day to allow for walk ins. We were able to make a reservation by calling the restaurant directly who were more than happy to accommodate our request.
The service is excellent. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and very accommodating. The decor and ambience was lovely. I was very impressed with how we were met by the host - it set the tone for the rest of the evening. Food was delicious. Loved the fact there were four different sauces available with the steak for two. I’m not one to pick chips over mashed potato but their spring onion mashed potato was excellent. The lemon and elderflower posset was perfectly balanced in sharpness and sweetness.
We’ll definitely be coming back. And we’ll be bringing more people with us.

From the moment we entered to when we left the staff were attentive and engaging. The staff working had a pleasant approach and it was noticeable that they worked as a team, this made for a lovely atmosphere . We had the Chateaubriand with champ potato and roasted carrots and grilled bone marrow along side that a salad and chips for good measure. The Chateaubriand was perfect with a pregnant wife we had to ask for the meat to be well done! From the first bite it was perfect, moist and tender, a credit to a chef that knows meat. The side were just as delightful, champ potato, was light and now something we'll be adding to our home cooking. The finally, and most important piece of a meal, the dessert. Just a single word to describe it would be "amazing" but I won't stop with one word. Both deserts were stunning in presentation and taste.

Food was fantastic, steaks cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and the service was great, they really looked after us including giving some great Portuguese wine recommendations. Delighted to see that management were strict on Covid certs and all the necessary safeguards.
J. B.
A lovely atmosphere and great quality of service & food. Steaks are on the pricier side but are of high quality and very well cooked. The sauces are outstanding - the chimmichurri was truly superb blend and complemented the ribeye perfectly. Chips side were good but not amazing, but truthfully you aren't coming here for the sides. Coffee was also very well made and beautifully prepared. All in all, highly recommended.

Service was excellent and very friendly. Decoration was fancy. But the steak was not as great as the other restaurant that located at 1a Pembroke St. Lower.
A. J.
Loved the atmosphere and the service! The wine list is really good and the food tasty - obviously the stake is a no-brainer.
J. S.
Had my 40th birthday dinner here on a Monday night and the food, staff, and atmosphere were all perfect. You can't go wrong with the porterhouse for two as a main for up to 4 guests and they've got good oysters and a great wine list as well. Thanks, Bull & Castle!
J. C.
Absolutely amazing, great service from arrival and throughout, and nothing I can say here about the food would do it justice, just amazing.. can't wait to visit again
J. O.
I've always loved this spot.
My wife today however treated me to the steak for my birthday.
Both of us had separate cuts with different sauces and sides.
All of them nothing less than perfection for your euro.
The beers have always been great. The wine very decently priced for it's taste.
The customer service however is amazing! The house wine of all things was incredible!
I'd happily name one server over another however we were served by three and all three of them were exceptional.
Working in the industry myself these reviews are a small effort on our part (the customer) to do.
But mean so much to staff and management when done.
Thank you for making my day that much better by going that extra step more than just dinner and drinks for me.
I cannot recommend more for your random drink or important meal out more.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Amazing food, brilliant service and an all our great experience. Highly recommended.

Amazing bistro, must go in Dublin. You’ve never tasted a steak like this. Promised.
M. K.
One of the best places to get excellent quality of food and amazing service! The place is beautiful and the atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. They show you every type of beef they sell and explain the differences in flavour!
If you ever go there try the cheesecake….it is amazing!!
Highly recommended from every aspect!
D. O. C.
Beautiful food and great service in the Bull and Castle. The Chateaubriand is incredible and well worth the money. Staff are friendly and attentive.
C. P.
This is a place I come to when I want to treat myself to some beautiful food. Every dish I've tried has been fantastic. The beef here is really special, beautifully cut and cooked perfectly each time. They have a great drinks list as well so there's no limit to the possible pairings. The atmosphere is cozy and staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend!
M. M.
Delicious food and excellent service!! 10/10 recommend this restaurant. Their steak is to die for!
I. B.
Sunday Roast was divine!! Staff so friendly, we asked to switch tables and it was no issue at all. I will be back asap
H. E.
Fabulous food excellent service and top class helpful staff. There with family including 3 young children...staff were most helpful. The roast beef lunch was delightful as we're the steaks and oysters. Kids menu really good too.. can't wait to go back.
E. C.
Food was wonderful, but service was poor to adequate. Our server was polite on ordering, but otherwise inattentive. She never checked back to see if the food was good, never offered another drink, etc, and only after bringing the bill did she ask if everything was ok. She actually grabbed our glasses from in front of us and hummed a little tune, but never asked if we’d like another. If the restaurant had been busy or understaffed we would have understood but there were literally servers hanging around chatting and 3/4 of the tables were empty. Disappointed. 🤷♀️
J. S.
Love the Bull and Castle. Such nice vibes. Christmas decorations are lovely and the Oysters are delicious!!
J. G.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience here. Food is excellent chef Lucas is amazing and we really enjoyed his recommendations. Will definitely be back soon 🥂🥂

Excellent service, very clean and extremely friendly staff, Food is absolutely Amazing and full of delicious flavours

This is the best steak house in Ireland. Been over 10 times and will continue to go. Second to none service and food. Everything here tastes spectacular

Great experience in this restaurant, prices are bit high but you pay for the quality, I was very happy what about the food, the T-Bone steak was tender and tasty. Definitely I recommend this steakhouse.
A. W.
Great drinks menu, really nice relaxed atmosphere, food was delicious and felt very covid safe. Top job team fxb, great experience. Had been upstairs for drinks before but dinner downstairs was amazing.
R. M.
Steak sandwich and fish and chips: both were delicious.
Dublin is not a cheap city; but this place was both reasonably priced and excellent quality. Steak sandwich and the beef-dripping chips were the best food we had whilst visiting; and it's right opposite the Cathedral. Would go again, would recommend, top stuff.
J. T.
Excellent food and outstanding service. The steaks were just perfect tonight, and it's always the case at Bull and Castle. Service was specially nice with our Portuguese waiter who suggested the best red to accompany the steak, as well as a perfect port for desert. We'll come back again and again.
A. G.
My friend told me that they treat you like a king here. He was not wrong! The steak was sublime as were the oysters. The whiskey sour was superb. I was not blown away by the cheeseboard but it was adequate.
The decor is reminiscent of an alpine hunting lodge. It is fitting for the fare they serve. I found it cosy and comfortable. The only thing I would add is tablecloths (but I'm quite old fashioned).
I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about different cuts of meat and wine pairings.
Ask for the special steak salt. You won't regret it!
C. O.
Exceptional steak and atmosphere… sides were also tasty.. I’d highly recommend to anyone.
S. D.
Service was appreciated, staff seemed busy but still felt service received was authentic to us! Medium rare fillet steak was mouth watering beautiful! Endless flavor! Beef dripping chips and onion rings like nothing we have ever had! Never normally a desert person but gave the brownie and ice cream a go and it did not disappoint! Honestly left this place feeling like every penny was worth it! Will 100% be back!!!!
R. G.
Excellent 10oz ribeye. Cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes were velvety. Chimichurri sauce was tasty. Great espresso parfait for desert.
A. R.
A really nice place, pricy but worth it.. 5* service, 5*atmosphere, 5* taste. W will do it again, the pints were great too. I recommend the kidney starter 5*. You go..... you'll enjoy.
S. P.
5 stars isn't enough to rate this place. Definitely the best quality of beef I've ever eaten in my life! This is another Outpost of the famous FX Buckley steakhouses. And the service is impeccable. From when you enter the restaurant till your last course, you're treated like utmost royalty!
Go here for a fancy meal and the best steak you've probably ever had. And do not skip desserts!
J. D.
Booking process from the phone was fast and easy. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and the seats were nice and comfy. Bread for starters were fresh and delicious. The spreads served with the bread was exceptional too. Sirloin steak and t bone steak for the mains were amazing. And the brownie for dessert was perfect.
A. A.
Great visit here. Ordered the tuna tartare, cote de beouf, broccoli and Caeser salad as sides. Meat great, sides and starters great too. Old Fashioned is a bit sweeter than other spots, works great as an after dinner cocktail. The cheesecake and baileys trifle were good too.
Distancing and cleanliness seemed top notch.
G. v. S.
I don't know how they do it but this was insanely good. Not only the food but the overall experience was a delight. Really friendly waiter who clearly saw we were having a tough time making a decision in what sort of meat we wanted. He anticipated on it and came back to is with a platter filled with pieces of raw meat, with a full explanation on what makes what kind of meat unique. It's not the cheapest place to eat in Dublin but it's most definitely the best. We are really glad to have chosen The Bull and Castle to celabrate our 5 year anniversary.
B. W.
A great place for proper dry aged steak. A sophisticated interior and ambience for a pub (more of a high end steak house once inside), interesting menu, and great dry aged beef options based on cuts and size. Sides are delicious, salads are fresh. Located across the street from Christ Church,
G. L.
After popping in towards the end of the previous night for a drink and seeing the food coming out to other tables, we decided to come back today to eat.
Best decision I think we've ever made, the food is glorious, the service is impeccable, genuinely I couldn't find a single fault with stopping for a meal here.
Honestly, if you don't at least try the bull and castle, you've missed out.
R. S.
I highly recommend the Gunpowder Gin Cured Salmon. The food tasted fresh and the drinks were ice cold. The atmosphere is very relaxing. If you're visiting any of the nearby churches then consider The Bull and Castle for a quick lunch.
K. S.
A perfect Sunday roast dinner, wonderful service, tasty bone marrow appetizer and brownie dessert. Love this place. Heart of Dublin, just perfect
J. S.
My favorite restaurant in Dublin. Excellent food and service.
I. M.
Absolutely fabulous. My daughter who has downs syndrome was treated like a vip. Went on Monday night but you would think it was the weekend. Really great staff and beautiful food
A. T.
Great spot and the interior has been revamped in recent years. Good pint of Guinness, staff are nice and accommodating and they have some interesting cocktails.
L. B.
We had lunch at the bar, not the restaurant. The food came super fast. The burger was delicious! The onion rings not so much, and the charcuterie board was really really nice. I recommend the craft beer called Ambush.
d. p.
Two of us had Lovely fish and chips with gorgeous creamy Guinness! The FX Buckle burger was very good. The staff were super friendly, the food was delivered to our table quickly and our American waitress was very attentive without being intrusive.
A. S.
Amazing place with amazing atmosphere and delocious cuisine and wine&beer list.
J. K.
Came across this restuarant near Christchurch ..was very intrigued by the appearance and I was definately not disappointed once inside ...this is a cosy spaced restaurant with an excellent ambience ...bull and castle offers excellent hospitality and staff is extremely polite and warm.....tried the Buckley fillet steak which was cooked medium rare to perfection with melt in mouth creamy mashed potatoes ....the Bailey's tiramisu dessert is the best thing I have tried ....no visit to Dublin is complete without having dined at bull and castle ....highly recommend this place
S. H.
The texture and the flavor of the steak is interesting and different from others. Appetizers are special as well.
G. H.
Ive been to some of the other restaurants in the FX Buckley group so knew to expect a high standard with the steak. FX Buckley butcher their own meat so you really do get the finest cuts. For starters I tried the Bone Marrow and Paddy tried the Spiced Sausage both dishes were delicious. For mains we both had the Sirloin Steak. It would be a sin to eat here and not try a steak. Both were cooked perfectly. The staff were extremely pleasant. There was a nice relaxed atomosphere. The lighting was subdued. The decor had a New York meat packing district vibe. It was elegant.
N. S.
Service was slow and pint shattered at the table as it must have just come from the dishwasher unfortunately. Great looking pub and great potential. Probably just a one off bad experience.
P. B.
Awesome rib eye, splendid hamburger, perfect onion rings, lovely staff. A must for dinner in Dublin.
C. C. (.
Went to a meet up before a show. Platters were delicious, vegan options, G/F options with no fuss. Steak is delicious and cooked perfectly. Prices reasonable for Dublin. Staff are lovely too
D. P.
Absolutely amazing food, and incredible staff! A little pricey as you’re paying for the FX Buckley name - but definitely a great experience.
A. P.
It worths a visit. A must, when in Dublin. The restaurant itself Holds a certain elegant appeal. High quality of the food and well served and refined in details. Tartare is strongly reccomended both for its taste and its scenic presentation
B. J.
Great steakhouse with superb meats. The bone marrow is devine. The cote de boeuf substantial and tender. Plenty of sides to choose from. Wine list covers all needs. Prices are very good
D.
Excellent service, honest advice, a broad selection of wines. (in case you want to pair with a steak of course).
The steak was cooked to perfection and as requested, medium-rare.
M. D.
Absolutely delightful food and the staff were incredibly friendly. The steaks were cooked to perfection. They also have a very well priced set menu. Highly recommend!
A.
Absolute top notch of a restaurant :) We come here for special occasions and it never disappoints. Prebooking is a must and they’re quite flexible with the times but it is a very busy restaurant, I’d pre-book a week before. Last time we went we ordered their Dungarvan Oysters which were very fresh and delicious. I suggest their bone marrow as well it’s quite tasty. For the mains, we usually get the cote du boeuf medium rare but on some days they’ll suggest their tomahawk steak or the highland cattle if available. The sides are great, really well-seasoned and don’t even get me started with their cocktails, lots to choose from! Overall, awesome restaurant and the service super attentive and nice. Highly recommend!
P. B.
Stoped off a a quick bite to eat and have a drink. Would recommend giving it a try if in the area.
J. C.
Steaks were excellent. I've never seen them come out with a display board for steaks before. Perfectly cooked. I opted for the beef fat fried chips which were also tasty. Great list of wines and whiskeys available as well. Service was super attentive and always available.
Y. R.
The waitresses are very nice and helpful, they recommend you the best meals to have.
The food is really food, the meats are prime quality and the quantity is decent.
The beef pie is one of the best around, the homemade bread is really good.
It's a recommended place, however is expensive, prices are 25-40 Euros each, if you want your own plate.
Pie and burgers are 15-20 euros.
A. L.
Incredible. Excellent. Delicious. Steak cooked perfectly. Great vibe inside. One complaint though, charging 5 euro for tap water? Nah! Amazing meal though.
R. V.
Wow. Irish beed is simply better. Prices are reasonable considering thw quality of every item you order, including still water. Definitely a place to visit if you enjoy steak. Just be sure to make a reservation/booking. Also, try the kiwi mojito. Might be one of the best mojito Ive ever had.
E. B.
The food is fabulous at the Bull and Castle, if you enjoy meat it is the place to eat, but don't just go for the food, the service is excellent the staff are attentive without standing over you. Love it can't wait for our next visit
J. D.
Another near perfect dining experience. Wonderfully cooked steak in great surrounds. The soup of the day was bursting with flavour. 5 stars. Will return
M. F.
Giving 5 stars here because it turned out to be a surprisingly good spot for lunch with the kids after a trip to the Dublinia museum. It was nearby in the pouring rain (it's just across the road), we couldn't find a kids menu online but when we stuck our heads in we found they do have one. They're actually really well set up for kids, the staff were great and crayons and colouring came straight out for some pre-meal distraction. The kids menu was really good quality stuff (ours had burgers and chicken goujons). They also had some lovely little touches, the ice cream they got for dessert came with popping candy sprinkles which they just loved 😂
Wife and I took advantage of the happy kids by doing starters, mains and even had time for an after dinner coffee! The food was really good but the 5 stars is mainly for the great staff and the set up for families.
A. D.
Great place for a nice steak dinner. We got a chance to preview the different meats before selecting our choice for dinner. Apparently reservations are needed on the weekends because it’s so busy, but we were able to snag a place at the bar. Great service. All around good experience!
I. S.
Very high quality of meet, very good service and nice atmosphere. Totally would recommend to people who appreciate dry aged beef and good quality wines. While the prices are high, you pay for the quality that you're getting and it's entirely fair.
M. L.
Crowded, but an enjoyable meal. Staff were very rushed but the food was very good. You need to book a table if you want to get a seat and don’t want to be turned away. All flavoured well and to the FX Buckley standard. Nice atmosphere, but quite loud with all the tables full. Would eat here again.
R. N.
Good drinks and experience. Great bar space upstairs. We came a bit early for our reservation so we had a drink upstairs before dinner. The host came and got us when our table was ready and made sure our drinks were transferred to our table. The caesar salad and bone marrow appetizers were excellent. I shared the Delmonico special which was cooked well but the cut had a lot of fat on it (on the edges) but wasn't marbled very much. Maybe we would have been better off with the regular bone in ribeye (or maybe it's because of Irish cows?). Overall it was a nice night even though our server was a bit hard to understand lol.
S. D.
We went with the early bird ("pre theatre") menu since we arrived in time for it, it doesn't have as big of a range as the Dinner menu, but it has most of the interesting dishes and is at a great price :)
I went with the josper roasted bone marrow, 8oz Sirloin, and stout brownie.
The bone marrow was soft and juicy, and the gremolada was a perfect companion to it.
The sirloin was perfectly rare with a good gradient to it. Very slightly tougher than I expected but I'm used to Ribeye which tends to be more tender, so I might be biased.
The brownie wasn't as dense as it looked, which is a good thing! Soft and tender, the caramel sauce works great with it and the vanilla ice cream.
My only complaint is the Teeling Whiskey Sour, which suffers from Irish whiskeys being too light and delicate to stand up to the lemon juice and sugar.
B. M.
OMG. The best steak house in Dublin City center for me. Such a good VIBE, the staff are awesome and Thiago best front of house management there is. Highly recommended for locals like me and tourists of any kind
B. G.
Go to the bar upstairs! The staff is amazingly kind and the food and drinks are top notch! Try the local gin and enjoy the vibe. You won't be disappointed with the rib eye, the crab appetizer or the chips with beef drippings.
S. A.
My third time at The Bull & Castle and this time I brought guests from Australia.
It is worth making a reservation to make sure you get a table immediately. Online is your best bet. I tried ringing over two days but couldn’t get through. Emailing them got me a response within 15 minutes though.
Food quality was great as usual. This is a place for a celebration, for bringing overseas guests to try some Irish beef, perhaps a date night or for a fancy weekend meal. There are high chairs for kids if needed, and plenty of space to manoeuvre a pram.
Had the Josper Bone Marrow to start. The caramelised onions was a bit sweet and masked the umami splendour of the bone marrow. While I usually go for the Cote de Boeuf to share, this time I went for the flat iron steak that is part of the pre-theatre menu. It was very well seasoned. For dessert, the Warm Chocolate & O’Hara Stout Brownie was the icing on my indulgent cake.
I will never be ashamed to bring guests here!
O. A.
On of the best restaurant in Dublin, you will not regret it. Spacialy meat, Nice service, atmosphere, desserts.
J. M.
Food and staff are top quality. Always a great evening of food and good company. An experience made possible by the very attentive and helpful crew there.
T. W. T.
Great steaks, my rib eye on the bone was cooked medium rare all the way through. I was actually impressed noting it was a bit thick, prefect and really good!
M. H.
Love the place, this place is our anniversary place, we keep the good places for our special date...
I am a steak lover, and this place is a steak heaven..
Wine selection is brilliant
Staff very professional
Will visit soon for our anniversary
c. d.
Very knowledgeable waiter going through the different cuts of beef. The selection and taste of the starters were fantastic. Then the main event, I had the rib eye on the bone, nicest steak I've ever had!!! Can't recommend it enough
P.
Can't get enough of this place. The steaks are absolute perfection. The brownie/choc cake extremely good as well.
L. P.
Love love love this place!!!! My friend and I come to Dublin every year for a girls trip... the chips and steak are to die for and I would say my number 1 ever they are soon good....
My husband paid our bill for us which was even nicer... food excellent not rushed lovely feel to the place staff friendly and nothing is too much trouble!!! Anyway looking forward to 2019 visit..... this place is a must if you're in Dublin
D. F.
We ate and drank here two nights while in Dublin. The steak and the burgers are amazing. It has the beer choice you come to expect in Ireland. The staff is great and the atmosphere is friendly. If you want to guarantee a seat in the restaurant area I would recommend making a reservation.
A. M.
Food is amazing, maybe it didn't come as warm as it should be and paying 40€ from r a steak it's what you deserve. Waiter didn't smile, didn't advice for the food, was rushing asking what we wanted. 12.5% service charge (50€ in our bill) it is too much. Jesus! The could bring more sauce. No 5 stars, 4 is enough
M. R.
Best place in town!!!! The food choices are unbelievable the staff is amazing. The food is absolutely authentic and you could not go wrong with anything you order. The places lively with great people purely I highly recommend this place for a great fun evening...
D. W.
Even though its famed for its steaks...the fish and chips probably the best I've had in Dublin...highly recommended...
O. V.
Our dinner here was amazing! Our steaks were perfect and we enjoyed the sauces that came with them. We were never rushed and everyone was especially nice!
M. P.
Nice Steak Restaurant close to city Center. Just a 5min walk away from the temple bar area. The quality of the meat was amazing. Just the wine service could be a bit better. Please when you serve wine, especial red wine make sure you dont drop on the table and prepare the wine bottle right. All in all if you are into a nice steak it is never wrong to vist that restaurant .
K. R.
Can't fault this place at all. Fantastic food and that's putting it lightly, and great service. They seem to have changed hands since I was last there but if anything standards have been raised.
P. F.
had my birthday dinner last Saturday night 🌙with a small group of family it was beautiful we headed upstairs after for some amazing cocktails 🍸 the staff were super efficient and so friendly as I had my elderly mother with me we will be back ❤
R. B.
After I enjoyed a walk through Christ Church Cathedral I went across the street to the Bull & Castle. The interior is very nice with many posters and paintings to look at while you sit in a very comfortable booth or chair. Between 3 and 6 they let you order using the early bird menu. You can request the standard dinner if you want. I had a great whiskey sour and started with the bone marrow which had grilled onions on it. The best way to describe the taste is like a very savory beef butter that you can spread on a piece of rye toast. It was excellent. The I had a 8oz sirloin with red wine sauce and a side of grilled asparagus. It was cooked perfect, medium rare and went perfect with the sauce and asparagus. I recommend stopping in to have one of the best steaks in Ireland.
K. M.
If your in Dublin for a weekend I highly recommend you go here the best steak in Ireland fantastic staff great surroundings. The best eating and drinking house in Dublin
j. j. j.
Absolutely stunning!!
The food was amazing and the service was even better!!!
The best resterant I've been to yet!!!
F. S.
Amazing quality food and service!!
O. R.
Upscale Steakhouse, great service, great food. The "medium" fillet was actually "well done", but otherwise a great steak venue. Loved the "Chateau Montelena Zinfandel 2014".
C. B.
Quite possibly the best steak ever. Following the suggestion of our excellent and informative waiter, we went for a great big Tomahawk for 2 people. It wasn't just an amazing steak but a whole experience! Each slice graduated from slightly rare thru to blackened - meaty rainbow of taste. Washed down with a lovely malbec. Great place and good beers too. We sat at last orders but under no pressure to rush. Fabulous.
S. H.
One of the best steaks I've ever had, great quality and great service 👍
L. K.
Simply amazing, a must if you love a great steak, staff were amazing and made us feel so special 💖
J. J.
One of the best meals I had in Dublin. Definitely will be returning on my next trip.
D. P.
It is an FX Buckley. What I lose to say. The meat is gorgeous, the staff is friendly and the overall service is 5/5. The prices are not the best though.
K. L.
Great place to visit for a quiet drunk and a spot of lunch. Staff are very helpful and and friendly.
S. R.
Fantastic feed and excellent service
U. A.
This restaurant is awesome. Probably the best place my wife and I ate in Dublin. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Everything was tasteful. Good price for what they offer here. Next time in Dublin I'll try to come here again.
L. R.
Really nice steak, cook to perfection. Love their cocktail selection as well.
S. D.
Seriously cool restaurant! The decor is fun and funky. I had one of the best burgers I've ever had. Highly recommend!
D. G.
Great food and excellent service. Have been coming here for a number of years now for a group Christmas dinner. The food and service have always been excellent. Not the cheapest but well worth it.
M. K.
Went to f x Buckley. Great food and good service. Also very good sized portions
j. g. r.
Good burger and steaks, great drink options, and nice/efficient staff.
Went with a large group, shared a few starters of which the meats and cheese platters were the highlight, and had a main course each (bacon cheese burgers and steak). As per usual in Ireland, the burger was either medium or more cooked, but the steak was nicely cooked as requested.
The bar menu is smallish, but sufficient to taste a bit of everything.
M. D.
Just had lunch here such a find! Ordered from Buckley burger and a pint of stout probably the best burger I've ever had awesome 5 star!
G. D.
Ordered a 16oz T-Bone with trimmings and it was cooked to perfection and delicious. Highly recommended and will be back.
L. K.
Great service, great food, great place !
Will Come again without any doubt.
T. B.
[This is the upstairs bar area] ended up there twice this past week - food was cooked right and the horde I was with enjoyed their wings fries and things - my burgers (both days) didnt last long at all... the recommended beer this week was Rascal Brewing's Toots (or as their point of sale says Toooooooooooots)
J. D.
Excellent service coupled with amazing aged steaks. Delightful!
N. G.
We had a wonderful dinner experience in this place!
The waiter was polite and very friendly! He took good care of us.
I had the fish, but my friends had stake. Everybody was happy with their choices!
N. M.
Excellent meal. Great staff. Couldn't wish for a better steak.
D. D.
One of the best steaks in Ireland, incredible quality in a very cosy atmosphère. For me the prices are a bit too expensive as of you go all in you get in to 1* Michelin prices, and Bull and Castle isn't.
But.... Still worth it.
c. d.
Unbelievable steak never fails we are regulars here and the staff are brilliant.
D. W.
Really good Steak ... finest selection of meat🥩🥩, Friendly Service, upscale Ambience !!
G. A.
Great place, great beef, superlative service: woth every penny spent there.

The food was delicious and the staff was absolutely lovely, they were quick to bring our drinks and checked in on us regularly.
Definitely gonna go back!!

e. r.
Great food and atmosphere. Fantastic steaks
N. M.
Really good.... Very nice staff with a very decent variety of steaks.
L. R.
What can I say. It's good. The quality is well displayed by the staff and you can see it, mostly taste it.
M. S.
The Bull and castle is part of FxBuckley. Since we came in with a bigger group, we had a set three course menu for 35€. To start off we had a Gunpowder gin cured salmon (5/5), followed by a Sirloin (it was okay- 4/5) and a cheesecake (5/5).
S. C.
Excellent food and brilliant service.
V. M.
Lovely food and amazing staff! Really welcoming and makes your evening really special 😍
L. R.
What a gem of a place. Amazing food and staff and a lovely ambient. Can't wait to go back.

One of the best steak houses in the country. Nice atmosphere and great food. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing, and the staff were so attentive and professional, we will be back for more.
T. E.
Great food and service.
C. T.
Fab staff. Great food. Worth a visit. Expensive. But you get what you pay for. 🙏
A. W.
Food , service and everything in between was 10/10 can't recommend it enough
N. B.
One of the best steaks in Dublin. Beer hall upstairs has always been old as well. Recently refurbished and a good place for couples.
B. B.
Beautiful food &service highly recommend the dry-aged sirloin so delicious 👍🏽
J. T.
Great food, great service until it came time to pay. They got the bill wrong twice and didn't seem care. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
R. C.
Absolutely amazing food, drinks and service. Will 100% be back!
n.
Great place for steak and service from the staff was excellent.
J.
The food was good and the staff was very friendly. I had the rib eye steak and I asked for medium rare and that's exactly what I got which means the chef knows what they doing.
t. i.
The food was fabulous and the service was excellent very tasty I had the 16oz t bone steak with onion and chips and pepper sauce
C. L.
Steak was on point! Really great service and you need to make a reservation for dinner.
G. C.
Fantastic Food. Fabulous Steaks. Great service
J. R.
Great Service.
Best Steaks in Dublin.
This is a must visit.
V. T. T.
The place is really nice and the food is great there!
J. Z.
Hard to remember if I ever had in my life a better steak or burger. Fantastic! Also such a wide offer of beers from all over the world. I love local beer 5 lamps.
J. N.
Good food, not too crowded. Didn't have my first option on the menu available though.
M. &. F. B.
Amazing place, the quality of the meat is astonishing and the service perfect.
You have to go there if you pass by and if you are a fan of steak!
C. W.
Food is really good. Had the burger 🍔 but the steak is supposed to be amazing too. Really nice atmosphere and bar is loaded whatever your poison might be.
T. M.
Amazing food, lovely service. You know exactly what you're paying for.
J. S.
The steak here was really tasty and the wait staff very professional. I will be back!
J. N.
Nice place ! Very good meat, large choice of beer.
G. M.
Amazing steaks at FX Buckleys and great craft beers ! Brilliant attentive service too !
R. D.
Arrived on Sunday an hour after the Sunday roast ended. But they were happy to accommodate and got us 2 of the roasts. I wish I had gotten a photo but it was too good to wait. Perfectly cooked meat and all the trimmings were absolutely delicious. Generous portion of food too! I had heard Bull & Castle was very good but it totally blew my expectations away. Butterscotch brownie for dessert was also lovely.
Friendly staff made it all the better. I'm already thinking of my next visit, thanks Bull & Castle!
s. s.
If I can tell anyone about the best dessert I've had this would be it, I wish I was back in Ireland really enjoyed this!!! #perfect the food is fantastic as well!
E. B.
Good attention and delicious steak in the heart of Dublin city. Highly recommendable 😉
B. V. d. B.
More than excellent porter steak cooked to perfection. Price was very civilised. Good service. Ample wine choice.
J. O.
Great atmosphere. Just went in to the pub but the restaurant smelled absolutely divine. I will be back. The pub has every brand of spirit you can think of. Knowledgeable bartender.
J.
Lovely food, great selection of beer.
M. C. I.
A fantastic evening. Myself and my husband and two friends decided to try this resturant, we were delighted we did ! The food was amazing, as were the staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you are a meat lover. Thank you Nils, you did a great job looking after us, we will be definitely back👍 😊👍
a. t.
Amazing staff and amazing food
C. M.
Really nice, wa had dessert and coffee nice and cosy and the staff really friendly
T. B.
Nice place 👌, bit pricey but overall I'd go back
Z. D.
Upmarket ambience with perfectly cooked steak. Terrific customer service.
J. K.
Excellent steak and really professional staff. Highly recommended
R. M.
Great food and tremendous service! Reasonably priced for the quality of food. Excellent selection of steak and quality is superior. Great selection of local and famous European beers. Highly recommend making reservations, even on a weeknight as there are only limited bar seats. I would definitely go back again!
P. S. G.
Amazing birthday dinner, and invitation to come again for the next one! :-)
I.
Loved the oyster, not a very big fan of the risotto. Nice spot to see the st paddy’s day parade. Go upstairs :)
E. F.
Amazing food and really friendly staff! Will definitely be back soon
P. R.
Steaks cooked to perfection. Professional servers and great atmosphere.
j. K.
The food here is lovely. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection — a nice medium rare. Their tartare was also quite good. The vanilla cheesecake with the passion fruit is also quite a hit. The place is beautiful with some interesting paintings of cows. It can be quite dear however the food and service is well worth it. Will visit again.
T. O. R.
Good food, good service, no complaints.
Will return for sure
b. m.
Fabulous place amazing food staff were lovely
B. B.
An excellent spot for exceptional food. The oysters, steak, and three of the starters were all incredible. The entire place features a warm, dimly lite vibe. The staff, on the bar floor, were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the spot as a whole, but the experience was tainted by the initial host greeting. Be forewarned, this is the kind of spot that will judge you in advance and tell you they are "full" despite maintaining empty seats on the dinning floor. However, they will redirect you to the bar floor which features a nice menu nonetheless.
A. W.
One of the top three steak houses I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Our table had steak fillets and lamb. The main dishes and sides were absolutely fantastic! The sauce that came with the lamb was a work of art. It's a little pricey but well worth it. I hope I get the chance to go back.
J. D.
Asked for meat to be medium rare, it was very rare. Just go directly to an fx Buckley restaurant for quality meat.
M. D.
Great food, best steak in Dublin, great wine selection.
S. W.
Best steak experience in Dublin! With great wines to match your beef of choice.
J. N.
I would definitely consider The Bull and Castle to be a posher pub-style restaurant. I went for a late lunch on a Friday, and there was no wait. The staff was friendly and helpful. As the name would imply, this place definitely specializes in meat entrees (lots of steak and burger options). The food is excellent, and the prices aren't bad for the quality. They also have an extensive beer, wine, and spirits menu. The noise level was perfect. There was enough noise to let you know others were in the restaurant, but not enough to be distracting. I would definitely visit here again.
J. (. W.
Amazing food and staff! Multiple people coordinated to take care of our table. Their drink reccomendations were on point and on the low end of the priced options. My ribeye was very well done. My wife's chicken she could cut with a fork. For sure go here for a nice dinner.
K. D.
Great drinks and oysters. A little disappointed with the lack of service. The servers themselves were very nice, but it took almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and given menus. We had to flag any server down twice after and it wasn't even busy. Considering it's on a main intersection and got good reviews, we expected better.
N. A.
Wow wow
Best stake l ever had, bit pricey but it all worth it,
I will be back for more
T. W.
Best steak in a long time. Excellent service. Pricey but worth it on a special occasion.
J. B.
Possibly the best old fashioned outside of Wisconsin, USA. Tasty burger, relaxed atmosphere
P. D.
Incredibly delicious and gorgeous building. Was recommended by our hotel and we walked half a mile to get to it in the rain. It was really fantastic
M. M.
The restaurant was fully booked so we sat down in the bar, the menu is partially reduced but can match all tastes. Environment very pleasant and comfortable. Food was excellent... one the best steak in the last few years. Only remark was the cocktails list and execution not at level, without this would have deserved a full 5⭐️
L. P.
One of Dublin's best steak houses, and my personal favorite! Quality FX Buckley beef cuts, delicious deserts (don't leave without trying the brownie) and the bar upstairs is fantastic as well, great to get a couple of oysters and a cocktail before the meal. Service is always stellar, and the venue is lovely. I've had nothing but great times there.
K. K.
Amazing steaks and lovely wines, what's not to like? Even the sides are super tasty. Food tends to be a bit heavy so give yourself plenty of time to digest :D The service is stellar, the best I've seen in city centre. Lovely buzz and atmosphere, including the pub upstairs. A bit pricey but for good reasons. I eat red meat rarely but when I do, it must be here : )
K. F.
5/5 for the food. The fillet was delicious, as was the brownie for dessert. All accompaniments were lovely - the peppercorn sauce was my favorite, the sides were delicious. We weren’t charged for tap water (as another reviewer says). The host was incredibly nice. However, our waiter left us waiting a long time for the bill and wasn’t warm, although he was attentive throughout the meal.
As far as reservations go, we didn’t have one but they sat us immediately because we came for an early dinner (6 pm). It seems like after 7, those who didn’t have reservations had issues getting a table.
M. G.
Really nice staff very accomodating..
Food fab. 🙂
L. C.
Great place to bring family and friends food is excellent just be prepared for a 50-60 min wait
G. M.
Great food and atmosphere but just wish the Irish beer we had in our flight was more refined flavor...
R. L.
This is one if not the best steak house I've ever eaten in. Staff are top draw and very helpful with the menu. The steak is from their own family farm so you know where its come from. I've eaten here many times and had the ribeye and fillet both great choices. I would recommend booking as this place gets very busy as you can imagine. So if your looking for a great place give this a shot, you won't be disappointed.
O. O.
The best restaurants are the places where you start planning when you can back the second you finish your meal. Having been to Bull & Castle about 7 times over the past year I can tell you that they are exactly that kind of restaurant. They meat is world class and the service is warm and welcoming. This is an absolute institution who will take care of you from the second you walk in until you leave and makes you want to come back for more.
A. M. O.
Very solid experience!
Ate at the bar and split a $50 steak and it was well worth the experience and the company.
Would have liked the bar staff to be a bit more attentive when our Waters needed topping off, but the good was delicious and service was courteous.
B. K. (.
We had the Sunday Roast, and enjoyed it very much. The bar tender, Tommy, was super friendly and helpful with an Irish whiskey choice. Ended the meal with a coffee and cappuccino. Food was great, atmosphere friendly, and price fair. Would definitely go again.
S. K.
I am a steak lover so I was happy to go along to the B&C to try it out, as recommended by our hotel. It is obvious that the place has a big fan club but I wouldn't count myself as a fan. We went for a late lunch - the place is big, dark and the staff weren't that friendly. We managed to get a table by the window so that helped. I probably should have had a steak but opted for the Chicken Caesar Salad as I had a dinner date later - there was so much lettuce on the plate that the meal looked very unappealing. I am a great believer in the less is more principle when it comes to make food look good. I think it fair to say that this place might be great as an evening venue on a cold winters day when you are in the mood for a big steak meal - but I wouldn't rush back.
R. W. M.
Fabulous meal in Bull & Castle. Have been there many times over last 6 years or more.
Very courteous, friendly and welcoming staff. As always, the meal ( we each had delightful sirloin, and trimmings!) was superb. Fully recommend this wonderful restaurant. We can't wait until our next visit.
C. M.
An excellent place for a long night or a quick stop in. The service is top notch and all the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. We were accommodated to our needs with no hesitation. The wide range of cocktails is amazing and the quality of the drinks is great too. The bar staff make the customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The food was very high quality and not overly expensive.
I love The Bull and Castle and will return as often as I can.
G. O.
Service could not have been better and super friendly and informative about all the different cuts of steaks. Cocktails perfection. The steak itself and the sides couldn’t have been better and the chocolate brownie was epic.
Probably the nicest meal I’ve ever had. 10/10
M. K.
First of all: these guys know their steak!
Second: THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR STEAK!
And you don't need to know anything about steak yourself, because they will give you a quick guide of the different choices, which makes it a lot easier to choose.
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with lovely and professional staff. Had a superb dinner and lunch here. The steak tasted like heaven! Can recommend this place with all my heart! If you want to dine here, you should book a table because it's very popular.
C. S.
Amazing food! 5 stars service! Selection of wine is unbelievable!
Great place for celebrating with partner or friends. Comfortable to spend hours drinking and having amazing cuts of great meat with a service that is beyond expected. Price is not cheap but its fair for what you get.
J. 9.
Not sure what the Irish do... But they can do steak. The Bull & Castle has Steaks that match Texas. The care and concern of the staff was excellent. Plus you get to wash it down with fresh Guinness. Nice family history go along with awesome quality control. Highly recommended.
P. P.
Extremely good price value ratio. We ate Tomahawk and Porterhouse split for five people with a few sides, and it was way too much food and we eat a lot!
Steaks were well cooked, however no salt and pepper on table to start out with.
Sauces could have been better.
J. N.
The best steak I've ever had. The finest cuts.Don't go anywhere else your wasting your time. Service is excellent. Fast, friendly but personable. Great wine list. Would recommend the temparanillo. We arrived an hour early and went to the bar upstairs that was buzzing. Make this place your next visit. It will exceed your expectations.
R. S.
Steak was excellent and sides very good. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. Cocktails were good as well. Went for a late afternoon weekend meal and I think I got caught between servers shifts as the initial team seemed in a hurry but the dinner crew that eventually replaced them were very professional and personable
E. S.
We were a party of 7. made reservations of course.
Staff was friendly and food delicious. What we were not so happy with: there was a 12.5% service charge due to the size of the group. It was stated on the menue but not pointed out to us. The other thing, we were asked to leave as soon as we had finshed our dessert as the table was booked again.
Not sure i would go back, especially because being rushed out sort of ruins the experience. However, the food was great and the place has a nice atmosphere.
J. D.
Restaurant located near Christ church and not in the middle of Temple Bar so might not be easy to find for tourists like me. On Saturday at about 6pm it was fully occupied but the bar upstairs was still available. I was looking for an oyster place for a few hours and finally got this recommendation. The oyster bar is just great - few suppliers with detailed info on taste differences. Can buy oysters per piece. Taste - absolutely fabulous - got the oysters from Achill, Galway - a little sweeter than the ones from Kelly - just perfect. I really recommed this place.
P. H.
Steak cooked perfectly to our preference (med well and med rare, both spot on).
Seasoning is amazing. Potatos andbeans were great.
Desert was delicious, brownie with caramel and ice cream.
Staff was wonderful. Very pleasant, friendly, and attentive.
Highly recommend this steakhouse.
M. G.
Have been loads of times. Great for steak, the variety alone says it all. why eat anything else in here? The service is excellent and attentive. Staff are very well dressed. Also lots of good craft beers available.
M. S.
One of the best steaks in Dublin. Straight forward but good.
K. P.
Food was good but it took way too long. I think our server gave our appetizers to the next table. They got what we had and were surprised however started eating and laughing. Our guy came up and talked to them and they kept looking at us. It took 30 min to get two apps. And another 45 min to get two steaks. Food was good. We sat down around 9.15 and got food around 10.30.
B. F.
Love this place and keep going back. Friendly staff and the best steaks in Dublin City
C. D.
Good food and the Main Bar tender up stars will take you on a little Journey with Gin, really know his stuff and the selection is huge, good place
B. P.
Super service. Our party was all about the steaks and they deliver. The raw beef menu was a good refresher on the cuts of beef and how best to serve them. There was a salad along for the ride which was refreshing after several days of eating no fresh veggies.
B. W.
Popped in for a drink on way to hotel. Very smart decor. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Good selection of cocktails. Recommended the prosecco cocktail. Sat at the bar but there's plenty of tables if having a meal. Seems to be very popular going by how busy it was. Barman was very helpful and friendly. Given jug of water with lemon and ice on the house with our drinks. Nice touch. Would definitely recommend this place for drinks and meals.
A. J.
Both the restaurant and bar menu are great. While waiting on our table we had some great drinks at the bar. We also ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was amazing. We rushed to finish it so we could be seated. The bar tab and any food ordered in the bar needs to be finished before returning to the restaurant. Still, some amazing beef!!!
P. m.
Great food. The beef and oxtail pie was great and the potatoes were to die for
L. D. Z.
I could be happier, but that would have meant crying in the middle of a crowded place and I felt it as unappropriate. Really great place, great waiters, great food.
J. T.
This place was really good. The host was wonderful and charming. The restaurant was full but offered us a seat at the bar explaining we could get all the same food. After a several minutes there he came to us to offer us a table that was going to become free. After we agreed he offered to take our drinks to us after we moved. Food we ordered was prepared fabulously. Waiter checked on us regularly. Being from the U.S. we were a little surprised there wasnt a tip line on the receipt. He explained to us a tip isnt expected. We asked if there was a way to pay one with are debit card because we liked the service, he responded saying he would have to have charged it with the meal but for us not to worry about it that our gratitude was enough. We still left what little cash we had on hand. Will definitely try and come here again in the future. Wonderful place and recommend it to anyone.
F. L. C.
Great Food!!! One of the best Rib Eye in Ireland.
C. O.
Food is just stunning and a bar full of surprises. Excellent wines and whiskeys on offer. Very comfortable, perfect lighting, no loud music and staff are a real credit to this venue. Meets all the requirements whether you are on your own, as a couple or with a small or large group. Visit the Bull and Castle.
N.
Delicious, hip, and cozy. I had the cheese plate and was in verifiable heaven. My friend had a chicken sandwich with thick chips (classic Irish chips) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We both sipped wine in a quiet, intimate atmosphere. Would recommend and return if in the area.
S.
Best steak i’ve ever had in Ireland. We wanted to order the côte the boeuf which my boyfriend and I usually really love to eat - this time they had a special which was the Tomahawk steak 🥩 we savored every bite!
Now.. let us be vegetarian for a few days after this huge meat fest :).
W. C.
Expected well done steak was completely overcooked
D. J.
This is may be the best pub food I have ever eaten. It is definitely a high class pub/steak house. The price may seem high if you are travelling on a budget but it is worth every penny so splurge on yourself. You will not regret it.
T. A.
Amazing customer service. Great food. On holiday and couldn't ask for a better experience.
J. D.
Fantastic. I was craving for a nice steak, and stumbled upon this place. Had no reservation, I was lucky and be able to get a table in the next 30 minutes. Service was very professional yet friendly.
Now the important part:the meat. Absolutely marvelous. The beef filet just melts in your mouth.
The cheesecake came with a twist and was delicious as well. I highly recommend this place, 9 e of my fav in Dublin.
T. D. D.
Prime location in Central Dublin, close to Temple Bar. The restaurant serves a good array of both meat and fish, substantial sized portions at reasonable rates. Good selection of drinks and wines , again reasonably priced. Staff are exceptionally friendly and customer focused . Overall a very pleasant experience
P. S.
A little upscale in look and feel. Also a nice combination of modern and cozy. Everyone was nice and out for a fun relaxed evening of food and drink. The prices were reasonable, but trended higher. The service and our server we're both terrific.
There were four of us and we had bar snacks and drinks (although nice, full meals were available). This is where my family spent part of our American Thanksgiving and we loved it.
As someone mindful of finding accessible places for older, less agile parents, the only potential downside here is that you need to climb a couple flights of stairs to enter. Not a problem for us, but you might need to know that before making this a destination.
J. C.
The quality of the meat there is absolutely outstanding. The cooking is equally great : my meat has a great crust, but was tender inside. S one of the best meat I've eaten in years.
F. S.
Very nice place to eat a very good steak !
d. c.
We loved it here!! We went for dinner. Server was very attentive!!!(perfect!). Showed us steaks on a board and explained them to us. Husband and I got filets, and they were amazing. Baked Potatoes were delicious and the sweet potatoe soup was surprisingly very good! Others at our table got the chicken (best he had ever had) and a hamburger(she said was juicy and full of flavor) you must call ahead cause they fill up fast. It was a saturday when we went so it was busy, but if you ever see a empty table and they say they are full that is usually because there may not be enough servers for them.
M. D.
Love it great food everything 100%.
P. M.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly Staff. Food was ok. Between us we must have ordered the whole menu. Chicken looked the best. Steaks were expensive when compared to regular resteraunt.
N. D.
Great place to have a steak! I ve ordered a medium-rare 14 oz rib eye steak and when I recived it it was medium - well, I showed to the waitor and he brought me a new one which was medium-rare. So I can say this place has a badass service! Really high quality steaks and good wine and beer list. Highly recommend
R. M.
Awesome steakhouse. Went to Ireland for a week from the states, went to bull and castle for a stag night dinner before going out, everyone said it wasn't her favorite meal of the trip. Staff met all expectations, food surpassed expectations, cost was modest for the quality.
S. R.
Fabulous steaks!
We had dinner there last summer, and it was our favorite meal in Ireland. The steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. They were very busy the night we were there, but we received excellent service. Heading back to Ireland next week, and really hope to get to dine here again.
G. B.
One of the favorite places for a quick bite and a good selection of Irish crafts. You can also have a proper dinner downstairs. But don't forget to book ahead, as the place is quite popular and might be crowded during the evening
M. P.
Very modern and chic spot to grab a drink and an appetizer while walking around the city. Close by to a bunch of touristy things, it's a nice break from walking around. Their drinks are pretty strong, and not too expensive. Try the wings, they are surprisingly amazing! Friendliest staff around for sure.
A. R.
Great place for meat when you are in Ireland, also some selection of craft beer. You can choice three or four types of cuts of meat (they are owned, I believe, by FX Buckley, a famous irish butcher) and how you would like it to be cooked. It's good to go every once in a while, certainly not every week as the menu has always been the same for years
T. M.
I had the soup of the day witch was chipea and tomato for a starter witch was ver delicious and the for my main course I had the 10oz sirloin steak and beef dripping chips the steak was good to medium rare just how I like it and the peppercorn sauce was very good the chips could been better tasty a bit dry overall highly recommends the bull and castle FX Buckley steaks. The service was excellent too A++++
E. P.
What an excellent meal we had. The best steak in town, as the locals said. And on other restaurant from them, you have the opportunity to take meat from the butchery of their own. All the meat are Irish, and from them. And there are a huge and great selection of beers.
c. r.
Amazing beers. Fantastic food and the best steaks in the restaurant. The hot dogs in the bar upstairs are the best in Dublin . Lovely staff and really helpful when choosing beers. Wines and from their whiskey selection
Can't wait to see the place Again soon
C. O. S.
Great food and very nice staff.
C. T.
Excellent beef, superb service, friendly staff. Worth a dinner or two if you’re visiting Dublin or live here.
It’s got great selection of beer and spirits. Quite a few bourbon selection.
Try the bone marrow appetizer
D. D.
The steak is divine. Came out a little more rare than I would have normally liked but it was gorgeous and all but dissolved when I was eating. Red wine jus and spring onion mash was a great accompaniment. Wait staff were incredibly attentive but not hovering. cocktails are a touch on the expensive side but are always worth it.
L. R.
It is a fantastic Restaurant with great steaks and friendly service. My favorite steaks are definitely the rib eyes and the tbone as well as the shared Porterhouse.
Worth adding to your order the Cajun onions if not included. They're delicious.
G. R.
Very nice bar, friendly staff, some good craft beers, always a plus with me. Food was OK. I had the ribeye steak (just under €20). I expected a lot more from a FX Buckley steak.
P. C.
Always nice to find a place where the know how to cook meat. Rib eye on the bone was a blast! Awesome piece and cooked to perfection! Bone marrow is a must have starter! Also good variety of beer and some interesting whiskeys. A must visit place!
D. D.
Awesome meat, sides and really good service. A must in Dublin for eating the best meat.
J. F.
One of my favorite meals in Dublin! I was not expecting the food to be so delicious at a pub but was pleasantly surprised. From the filet to the fries and everything in between we had 2 great meals here.
S. F.
Food 100% n staff extremely helpful
T. R.
Great looking place with very good steaks. I really like both the restaurant and the pub. Although I think the steaks and service are better in the Pembroke street restaurant, this place is perfect to grab a pint, watch a match and have dinner in the restaurant afterwards. Also the menu for the bar is nice, with an excellent burger for a decent price. Not the full 5* as the service in the Restaurant is slow and not pro-active at all.
b. b.
I truly haven't eaten as well as I did today in Bull and castle. Now I had the Sunday roast. Top class. The staff were friendly and courteous. Toilets spick and span.keep it up people
B. G.
I stop by here on my way to Dublin Castle. It's a lovely interior and the folks working there are quite kind too. I had the house burger and it was fantastic. It could fall apart it was so tender. Great drink selection. I had a mocha and it was probably the best I've ever had in my life. I would love to go back again.
T.
As usual, FX Buckley showed why they have best steaks in the city. We went with pre-theater menu that costs 24€ for two courses. On the menu was roasted bone marrow that was so delicious and salmon cocktail that was really tasty and fresh. After that there was Iron steak that was made per my liking and it was very juicy and tender. Excellent value for money and definitely recommend to visit.
M. O.
Good, but not great. We have been to great steakhouses all over the world and while it was good, the hype ("best steakhouse in Dublin") and the prices were both over-inflated. By European standards I'm sure it would pass, but by American standards, Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, and other chains are better. We had the porterhouse for two...meh. If this is the best in Dublin, I will hold off getting a steak until I get to another city.
R. D.
My husband swear the fxb steaks are the best in town but I'm a veggie and I still love the place, good veggie option which changes often. One of the best deserts I've ever had! (stout brownie), great selection of beer, wine, cocktails and has a set menu which is quite reasonable.
M. J. G.
If you want a brownie that's so dang good you get angry at it for existing. I cannot recommend this place enough.
I've been several times for different occasions, casual, work, reception. And every time I have that dang brownie I lose my mind!
Only one other place has had me so filled with incredulity at how good the food is. You can't go wrong with bull and castle, if you've got a little extra cash and a big appetite, of course.
K. K.
We went in for a beer and appetizers for a mid-afternoon snack and the food was delicious. It is definitely a more fancy restaurant than your average pub. Prices are on the higher end but it's great quality. Our waiter was a little unpleasant but other wait staff were extremely nice.
T. R.
My new favourite bar. Loads of drinks selections, great atmosphere and really great staff. Its perfect for after work drinks or a stop in while shopping for a refreshment. Check out their own spiced spirits! The spiced rum with ginger ale tastes like a cola bottle!
D. S.
I enjoyed it good food and a very nice server . I had a hamburger which was very tasty . It seemed to lean towards a higher class Irish pub almost steak house dinner for two was around 90 bucks with a few drinks.
L. W.
Totally freakin awesome steaks and lamb! And the brownie desert is to climb over Mt Everest for. Top it all off with a sound great collection of wines in their wine corner and you will have a truly satisfying experience. Compliments to the chef and professional staff making our last night in Dublin a great send off as we venrure the rest of Ireland.
M.
A nice place with a great ambience. Perfect for larger groups. The steaks are perfectly cooked and tastes brilliant! The staff was very friendly and accommodating of the large group.
P. A.
One of the best meals, and the best cocktails I've ever had. 11/10 would recommend. If you come to Dublin and you eat meat, you must come here. It's not cheap, but it is worth it.
B. W.
They were able to squeeze us in for a late lunch and did not disappoint. Service was friendly and was only outdone by the delicious steak and soup. Would definitely come again.
M. W.
Fantastic food ordered the sirloin steak ,staff so helpful and friendly simply couldn't do enough for us ,I'd definitely highly recommend a visit.
A. C.
Great food and excellent service 👌

Food was great, drinks were great and service was great until it was time to leave, we were abruptly told we had to go when we asked for a final round. No issue with the fact that there is a limited time but all they had to do was tell us "you have to leave in 15 mins" etc ....we won't be back.
A.
We were lucky and came here early at night, so we had early bird menu, the food was amazing so was the staff. Very friendly. The steak was perfect so were the sides. Definitely worth coming there.
A. V. (.
The meat is amazing. I don't think I had any better meat prepared anywhere in Ireland. Yes it is quite expensive but for a special night out I think the price is acceptable. Didn't enjoy the onion rings much, they didn't have much taste, which is rather surprising as everything else was perfectly seasoned.

Best place in Dublin for steak !! Lunch menu great value.
M. W.
The food here is always good. We ordered the porterhouse steak between two of us and was delicious. Can with a choice of sides. One starter, porterhouse steak, one dessert, bottle of wine and two aperitif came to about €130.
E. G.
Great food and drinks, lovely nonalcoholic options. Very reasonably priced with friendly staff and great service.
T. F.
I highly recommend this establishment, excellent service, vast array of quality irish beef amongst other delicious food. Deserts are on another level. A real treat. One of my favourite eateries in Dublin.
d. t.
Great food but the staff were very pretensious. my waiter kept straightening my napkin "irritating" he then put my silverware directly on the very porous table I couldn't help but think of bacteria also the techno rave music seemed out of place. In short great food, fair price, a little too much atmosphere
K. C.
this is a fantastic place to get a nice steak, owned and operated by the butchers f.x. buckley this steakhouse is suitably excellent at serving perfect tasty steak, it is advised to book as when we arrived there were some unlucky would be diners being turned away as the restaurant was fully booked, the steaks were brought out raw on a board to see before we chose which type we would like, 2 starters, 2 rib eye steaks with trimmings and a bottle of wine came in at around €100 so not expensive and not cheap either, worth the trip and we will return again in December.

Don't usually rate places, but this place totally deserves it!! I couldn't get a table (my fault, I tipped up without a reservation) so went up to the bar and had the ribeye steak and a few beers! The steak was utterly devine; incredibly tender and flavoursome!! Treat yourself and visit this place for the best steak you'll have!! Try it to prove me wrong...
F. M.
Great restaurant with a bar in the second floor. Good place to have dinner and bar after.
F. F.
This is a meat-focused place with a high quality steak. Intime place where to discuss business (propose in my first visit) or enjoy with your couple in a relax atmosphere (reason of my second visit) they have a bar in first floor which is incredible, they do prepare nice cocktails despite I am beer man.. about meat and their offer, esch waiter brings to you a sample of each cut-of-meat for you to get real vision about what you’ll get which is amazing useful, at least, for me. I am Spanish citizen and english is my second language, they do always threat you with deep respect and giving you time to express properly. A place to discover!
V. M.
Nice place bit to expensive for the taste they offer
C.
I only called in to book a function , as they hadn't answered my email
C. J.
Excellent aged rib eye, prepared to perfection. One of the best steaks I ate, ever. Friendly staff. Old school classic steakhouse/bar decor. Highly recommended!
A. G.
Been here a few times, The steak is is the best I've ever tasted. Was amazing and cooked to perfection. Recommend everyone to go here when in Dublin
L. P.
Best steak I've had in Europe! The staff was incredibly nice..
J. P. B.
Lovely place, great food, good selection of wine, beer and whiskies. A tad more expensive than other restaurants in the immediate area, but worth it. Left there feeling refreshed.
D. h.
Had a wonderful meal here.
Our Dutch waiter was such a host and recommended some wonderful meats.
Highly recommended.
M. S.
The filet was perfectly cooked and the whiskey pepper sauce made an excellent pairing. Everything was delightful and the beer selection outstanding. Our service was very friendly and I was very glad to end up there for the night. Highly recommend.
A. B.
we had the menu "c" - it was really, really good from start to finish. friendly staff, great food (poached duck egg, 8oz fillet, nice veggies and chips and chocolate brownie or a cheese plate) and of course some nice drinks.
I'd definitely come again.
T. B.
Ah yes, the "butcher's restaurant"... been here a few times, both at the bar upstairs and for dinner. Always solid food (chips are cooked with beef drippings!) and moderate service. Service can be a bit pretentious and spotty (e.g. waitress forgetting utensils, not checking back after dropping off food so had to wander around looking for salt, ketchup, etc). With spotty service you shouldn't be pretentious as well should you? Meh, maybe it's a new fad. The bartenders are however always great and cheery.
Tends to be on the pricey side but it's centrally located, good food and trendy with locals and tourists. You could do a lot worse in Dublin for food and that's saying something. The meat dishes stood out for us, but everything we tries was good. Even the Caesar salad was prepared and presented well. Personally I liked the bar food better than the restaurant and it was probably a bit better value to be honest.
Pub and restaurant are clean and seem to be well maintained. Honestly, you can find better with a bit of research on the area but you almost can't go wrong with the B&C either.
A. M.
Great beer and friendly staff. Onions rings were the best
E. B.
Excellent gin selection and way better than pub food! The rib-eye is excellent. Stop in for a pint, cocktail or full meal. You won't be disappointed!
I. P.
A group of 14 ate upstairs in the bar, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Is up there with one of the best steak I have ever had.
I will be back
J. G.
Service was only alright, did feel forgotten about for a good while. Also their version of medium rare is a bit more rare than most steakhouses so be warned. Also I know you have to let steaks rest but these were pretty close to being cold.
G. G.
Lovely bar. Excellent seating area outside although it's small and very squeezed in. Inside is good but bar has a very different vibe to the excellent food restaurant downstairs. Worth a visit on the way into town in my opinion.
J. B.
A random find. Wonderful beer and gin selection. The burger and chips were awesome. Glad we stumbled across this place. Just a few minutes from Guinness.
D. T.
Very nice place, food is pricey l, but it is Dublin... chips cooked in dripping are fantastic... Just like chipper chips if your into that. Guinness upstairs in the bar could be better
M. B.
A Friday night visit to the Bar turned out to be very entertaining. Great mixture of clientele providing a wonderful vista of pre weekend Dublin nightlife. The finger food was tasty as expected from FX Buckley and the drink was good too. Enjoyable. Must try the restaurant.
p.
A gorgeous meal with fantastic staff. So friendly, accomodating and welcoming as always. Highly recommend!
L. H.
Great hospitality, great food and beer
M. L.
Great venue in the heart of Dublin, amazing steaks and excellent service. We had the best seat in the house looking out onto Christ church in the evening sunshine, would go again in a heartbeat.

Love this place, best steaks in dublin
S. W.
Excellent! Exactly what you would hope for from an F.X. Buckley Steakhouse. I started with the Sausage and Puy Lentils, which is unique to the Bull and Castle and, to be honest, the reason why I went here (Crow Street is closer). It was very nice indeed. The Rib Eye Steak I had for a main was meltingly tender and full of flavour, and the baked potato was fresh: crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Nothing like a reheated baked potato to ruin a nice meal, but I thought I could trust F.X. Buckley's to serve it properly. I was right. Sour Cream is available on request, if that's your thing. It is mine :)
Not cheap but you get what you pay for, which is a quality meal and one of the best steaks, if not the best, that you'll find in Dublin. Staff were very friendly and professional - I didn't even have to give my name for the reservation when I arrived and was greeted by name by front of house. It's a small thing, but it's the small things that make a good restaurant a great restaurant! Top marks all around.
A. E.
Outstanding steak.. smoked beef tartare is both a pleasure for the eyes and the mouth
R.
Ich loved the Steaks, the meat quality is just wonderful. And as a person who can't eat carbs I absolutely admired the steamed vegetables. Very often sides are too boring, if they are not made of potatoes, bread or noodles. But not at The bull and the castle. Just a perfect meal.
M. K.
Just amazing! Had a excellent stake experience thanks to our waiter and the chefs. Best stake in my life, go for the sirloin, soft as a cloud on butter. Just excellent.
T. D.
Great pub to stop and have a glass of lager and a bite to eat with the family while sightseeing.
S. W.
Visited here a few weeks ago and was wowed! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the food is exceptional!
You have your table for a set time but you never feel rushed it really is an experience
S.
Amazing service! Staff were great; friendly, professional and very helpful! I was looking for a steak restaurant and Bull & Castle was the perfect choice! Thank you for a lovely evening! Shqiponja :)🍀
R. D.
Amazing steak of all time!!
K. L. C.
Good food and drinks, pleasant service and seating. Slightly on the pricier side for some of the items, but others worth the cost. Enjoyed the experience overall.
y.
Nice elegant setting, yet very chilled and modern. We went there on a Friday evening and it wasn't overcrowded, we managed to get a table which was ideal! Their cocktails are yumm...
D. T.
Good place to watch the match but be warned the restaurant downstairs is expensive. Two burgers, one cider and one soft drink came to €41.
Food from the restaurant no longer available upstairs which is a real shame. They sell hotdogs and nachos now instead but when you've a well known steakhouse that you're affiliated with just downstairs, people are going to be expecting more food options. Decent place to watch the matches though, with 2 large projectors and unlike some places they keep the sound on during the match which is brilliant. Arrive early if you want a seat and be warned the bar can be very busy so expect a wait while the matches are on. Final thing is the staff, who we found very friendly and helpful on several occasions.
M. i. G.
Had meeting there, a bit dark for my taste like all trendy industrial lighting fittings..had excellent meat there, iron steak, burger, steak sandwich, glass of wine pinot and we were good for rest of day. Good prices, for what you get it's perfect..would come again, and will. Recomend
F. S.
Went here for my birthday lunch and came away a happy person. Fantastic food (loved the fresh tomato soup!), brilliant steaks, very friendly staff. Warmly recommended.
J. V.
Chateaubriand was brilliant. Service was spectacular. Will not be disappointed.
F. M.
The food is good, but limited. There's not much available for veggies. Also it seems to be going for a disco vibe when the beer hall layout doesn't really encourage dancing.
The beer menu is good though.
K. M.
Great venue for good food and great beer. The charcuterie and cheese stall upstairs is a great addition as is the seafood bar. Large venue with plenty of seating and great beef which is displayed in their dry aging cabinets which are visible by the public.

Great food in a lovely setting across from Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin. I brought my dad and son there for lunch after touring the cathedral. I had made a reservation but did not need one. We were seated immediately and left to peruse the menu. My son was running late so we waited till his arrival to order. If I had to say one thing against the establishment is not enough non meat items on the menu. Having said this it is a FX Buckley restaurant so meat is the order of the day, it's why people go to dinner there. So we ordered two beer battered haddock and one flat iron steak. Sides of champ, onion rings and spinach. One glass of Dublin larger and soft drinks while we waited. While not the most extensive range of craft beers than some places it has plenty to choose from. You never feel rushed here and plenty of time allowed for chat. Always a good sign as food is been prepared as the orders come in and no sitting to be dished up. When our food arrives in am eating it with my eyes before I even taste it. To say it was delish is an understatement. My son's steak looked melt in the mouth and I can assure you our haddocks were just that. Hardly a word was spoken during the meal. To finish if you want good food I reccomend this place. It all came to €60 for food drinks and two coffees. A little steep some might say for lunch but in my opinion well worth it. I'll be returning again just hope the put a few non meat dishes on as I'm sure they'll be just as tasty as the food they already serve.
B. S.
Very good steak and perfect service.
M. W.
Nice place. Food was good. A bit fancier than I normally like but that is my problem, not theirs. Excellent selection of beers on draft as well as bottled. I strongly recommend a reservation. Place was packed on a Monday night.
J. P.
More than perfect! The drinks, the starters, the waitors, the ambiance and of course the meat..lovely. I would definetly recommend this place to all the gourmands and meats lovers.
K. C.
Best steak I've ever had! And the staff was super friendly and very accommodating. Loved it!
y. a.
The best beef I ever had and friendly staff
H. Q.
Amazing food, well explained and very helpful and nice staff.
G. W.
Had dinner upstairs in the bar recently, everything is fresh & cooked right in front of you. Staff were lovely, friendly & helpful & service was quick enough too. Great for pre-show bite to eat & a few drinks.
C. O.
Great steaks, as you would expect from a restaurant that evolved out of a family of butchers. Good sides, friendly service. Not cheap but you get great food
C. S.
What a delightful place. Great atmosphere. The front of house is excellent, knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommended and the steak is the best I've ever eaten!
D. P.
Absolutely brilliant steak house, never had a bad steak at Bull and Castle. Very nice and relaxing ambience. Great selection of beers and wines.
M. K.
Great food . I love my steak to be rare and it was perfec. My boyfriend loves his well done and his wasnt cooked enough. We sent it back to be further cooked and wer pleasently surprized tjat we were offered free deserts. A lovely restaurant in dublin-will be returning!
D. I.
If you like your steak you need to go here. I always go for the bone-in ribeye and it's fantastic. Good atmosphere, very informal (the other FXB on Pembroke St is quite formal).
K. H.
First pub we visited after landing in Ireland. Great service, atmosphere, and food. Had the fish & chips and they were 10x better than I expected. Definitely a great stop for food.
A. S.
Fx Buckley are possibly the best steakhouse in Dublin. All common cuts of meat are available and at reasonable prices. If you plan to go over the weekend or Bank Holiday, make sure you have your table booked.
D. A.
Nice spot for a pint with bar food upstairs including a selection of hot dogs. There's also an FxB steakhouse downstairs with plenty of tasty meat. Get in before 7pm for the well priced early bird menu.
G. M.
Had a great dinner here. Food was tasty, and service was wonderful. Highly recommend the bone marrow and sirloin steak. Will be back!
B. G. (.
I’ve never had a steak so good and beef dripping cooked chips were also perfection. I won’t ever be able to find a place that does them better. Staff were absolutely excellent too.
D. D.
Oddly elitist, but by and far the most delectable fish and chips in all of Ireland. Cooked in beef drippings my wife and I found it to be absolutely delicious and by and far the best in our travels.
J. H.
Great bar upstairs for drinks and food.
L. L.
Lovely place, amazing drinks and foods!!
D. W.
Amazing steak sandwich with fries! Great beer offering as well. Definitely would go back and recommend if you’re looking for red meat!
L. J.
Amazing food, excellent service and lovely surroundings. A little bit dark for my liking but overall an amazing experience. The brownie was honestly to die for! Will be back here very soon.
V. T. (.
Great for getting groups of people together with nice food and great selection of beer (even for those who don't drink). Just head in and go straight up the stairs. If you want to eat in the restaurant, the steak is really good (as FXB are their owner).
Can get quite loud though, and stuff if it's packed (like more places). There's no aircon (like most places in Ireland).
Fantastic atmosphere all the same.
J. G.
Service was a little uneven due to the restaurant being very busy, but the Sunday roast dinner (prime rib) was very tasty, if expensive. Special props for the crisp yet light Yorkshire pudding, and for the cabbage cooked perfectly al dente.
I. B.
This is a gem of a pub, restaurant downstairs, bar upstairs, very tasteful decor (decor that makes you go wow), good drink & above all, friendly, helpful staff. A great place to relax whether a tourist or a local. 🙂🙂
B. M.
Best steak in town.
F. S. M.
Amazing experience! My palate has never been as happy with me, as when I went to this place.
Incredible service and treatment in general. Definitely worth it, for any and all special occasion!
C. F.
Watched the Ireland v France match here. If we had a won I'd be giving it 5 stars :)
Ah no...it was good craic and the place has a great beer selection.
Just bear in mind that usual sorting events may be shown but with the volume down and background music on.
Overall a v good spot for pub food and craft beer.
B. M.
Not the cheapest place to eat but the food is excellent every time. I was there with a vegan and they were very accommodating offering and off menu starter, main and dessert. Extensive drinks menu as well
J. R.
For once I didn't have the steak, instead I went for a burger, it was not a disappointment, the meat was delicious. Our whole group were very very happy with their food, drinks and service.
P. O.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could, absolutely delicious, best steak I've ever had...proper fiery Bloody Mary to finish it off. Sublime
D. W.
Evidently, this a wonderful place to watch the World Cup. There were big screen tvs and the sound could be heard over the din of the patrons. Unfortunately, I was seated directly next to the screen and thus, couldn't see the action. I had to actively keep my head from hitting the corner of the screen. Even though the 5 of us ordered burgers etc., I had a difficult time getting water.
C. B.
Lovely location..food excellent but pricey...set menu for Christmas was €60, ridiculous... you could have had parfait, rib eye & dessert for less... staff very professional but bit snooty...
J. R.
I was there tonight with a group of 12 to 13 people and we all enjoyed the food very much, more than delicious. Brilliant service and staff very attentive.
K. S.
Fantastic food, reasonably priced. Not a steak lover myself, but the people I dined with raved about the steaks. Beer options not as great as I had expected, but cocktails looked fab.
B.
Great bar upstairs with lots of different craft bears. Prices for regular stuff seemed a little on the high side. During the week you can get pints of craft beer for only 4,50, which is a good deal if you ask me.
S. R.
Great service and food was excellent
C. R.
Food was tasty, but my steak was not consistently done; parts were medium as ordered, but a large portion was medium rare or even rare.
D. M. J.
You need to book a table to have any hope of eating here. That said, you can always try the bar upstairs for pub food. Great Gin&tonic with cranberry bitters, and burnt Rosemary. Delish.
T. W.
Great service, nice food and atmosphere. Had the 12oz sirloin on the bone with Cajun onions. Very reasonably priced imho.
L. M.
Beautiful place, first restaurant i've been in Dublin, Iron steak was excellent, delicous Spices, yummy, good choice of beer and wiskey! Not that expensive !
M. W.
Good bar food in the upstairs area (downstairs restaurant not tried), excellent range of craft beers, gin, etc. Busy but will reserve tables for larger groups. Highly recommend
L. L.
The meat and the cooking were perfect! And I am used to eat in very good meat restaurants in france!! Very reasonable prices for this quality. I loved it from the start to finish!!
😍
N. B.
Good beer, great food and good service. Prices are a little high and they started playing loud music which ruins the atmosphere. You go to a place like this to have some beer & conversation with your mates not to go hoarse shouting over the music.
A. M.
The place is lovely and you can still eat something else than the expensive meat, which I'm not a fan of. I loved my pie, a hot iron cast stew with a pastry cover. Also the brownie was to die for.
S. P.
Amazing experience! We had pescetarian/vegetarian lunch with Prosecco. Super fresh strawberries on Prosecco, very nice touch.
Salmon tartare was in a caviar dish, we loved it the most...
Enjoy!
L.
All the food was fantastic from the starters to mains. Steak tender, flavourful and cooked to perfection. We will be back.
I.
Burgers are ok, pints are dear too. Setting is good for matches upstairs but preferred when they had benches. Will go to Bunsen burger next time for fx Buckley meat.
J. J.
Very tasty and lovely drinks
T. D.
Simply amazing. The explanation with props on the various cuts taught me more about meat than I've ever known!! Fantastic experience. Gorgeous meat.
P. W.
Tasty food, steaks are fantastic, staff are nice and the selection of beers & whiskeys are great. A little pricier than similar locations but worth every penny.
K. H.
Great service, best sirloin steak even for me who doesn't like steak! Next time I will order my own :)
S. M.
We went for lunch. Has the rump steak sandwich with chips. A bit messy, but delicious. I also ordered a tomato salad as a side. The accompanying mozzerella was smooth and creamy.
L. R.
Great place to grab a bite and a pint before you loop around town.
p. d.
Oh my god the burger was amazing
L. s.
Amazing food, kind staff and lovely environment. Best steak which I recommend with all my heart!
M. C.
Great quality choice of beers that will keep you coming back for more. Crowd is very much of the after work variety and the music is on the wrong side of chart based bland nonsense. Very good for watching afternoon sport.
H. C.
A proper beer hall in the heart of Dublin. Serves lots of great craft beers and has nice long tables if you are with a group. You should try to book to avoid disappointment. More pubs like this would be great.
A. A.
Impeccable service and excellent steaks.
