We visited the ER Department of Wexford General Hospital, County Wexford, Ireland, morning, May 22, 2019, for an emergency consultation & treatment. It went very well with short waiting time at the reception & triage. Very friendly & professional treatment received from reception, triage, nursing & medical personnel. Blood tests done immediately & results within an hour. Then met & examined by the ER doctor on duty. Got prescription & medications instruction. Very grateful for excellent care & treatment from Emergency Room personnels of Wexford General Hospital.

The hospital, like the entire healthcare system, is underfunded and puts a shadow on the wonderful people who work there. All the staff, they give their best, they saved my life and I am so grateful ..

Wife and child stayed one night, smooth check in, had a bed ready for them even though we didn’t book ahead of arrival. Wife told me it was dorm style accommodation which wasn’t clear from the website, so one mark down for that. An extra mark for the excellent view. Wife still talks about this. Service was great and everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Child ended up all good.

Was admitted as an emergency two months ago, A&E staff were exceptional, caring and professional in every aspect of my care, I was admitted to a ward where in a very busy environment the staff were also caring and diligent in their care. These are exceptional times and Its wonderful to see people "be the best they can be " in difficult circumstances.I would have given 5 if the food had been better, lack of imagination in menu .poor quality.

Went to A & E yesterday in terrible pain which I thought was Tonsilitis but turned out to be Quinsy throat. Treated to painkillers, steroids and penicillin. Transferred to WGH later and had large abscess on very inflamed tonsil removed immediately. I am feeling like a new man today.
Thanks to all the staff at both hospitals for all their care and attention. The pain was horrific but I am top of the World today thanks to your efforts

Arrived in ED very prompt professional service. Sent to MAU -again very professional pleasant staff - so far great. Off up to a ward where all I can say is "let me out of here". 6 people in ward ,5 female 1 Male-all sharing one toilet -the 2nd toilet OUT OF ORDER for a week thus far. Bed no.6 was lopsided and squeaked all night long .
Nursing staff -wonderful. Porters -wonderful. Catering staff - ok. Breakfast tray presented with a solitary mug/cup on tray with packets of condiments scattered on tray - no plate. Porridge -as requested- no fruit, soggy toast which had to be buttered on my paper napkin. Mug of dreadful cold coffee. TG had only one night in the place and I was able to laugh off the dreadful conditions. Some of the PATIENTS are there for a few weeks - God help them. This is not the hospital I knew 10 years ago -

As someone who regularly hears nothing but negativity on the Health services I want to share the opposite to that in relation to my experience .
Had to attend WGH yesterday with a minor injury and I can say categorically I received a fantastic service from beginning to end.
From being signed in at reception in A and E until discharge one hour and twenty mins later following X-ray and a treatment plan I was treated with care and compassion and a high level of professionalism.
A special thanks to Rachel Power in the minor injuries unit who was just fantastic.
There are no doubt serious problems in our health services but the front line staff are amazing
Thank you all

There may be a long wait in the A&E. department, some times 9 hours, and two nights on a trolley, I cant blame the staff, its more to do with funding, the doctors and nurses are excellent, they do the best they can with the space and amount of beds they are afforded. Most of the wait at A&E is caused by time wasters with very little reason for being there.

Wouldn't have ever had an issue before and had always found the care to be fine, especially with Dr Das he is great, (with the exception of one or two people along the way) until now.
I rang the hospital yesterday to see about getting a midwife to use a doppler on me so I could listen to my baby's heartbeat. She said they don't bring people in until 20 weeks and if have to ring the early pregnancy unit. I have been down to the pregnancy unit for 4 scans between 6-12 weeks and am now approaching 15 weeks. I wasn't offered any reassurance through use of a doppler or a quick scan other than to be told that i have no reason to worry. I feel I have every right after 6 previous miscarriages to worry as much as I want. What I do not need to be told is that I don't want to be seen until my next scheduled appointment and to go see a counsellor. Maybe that's their protocol I don't know but I think better services should be offered to pregnant women who have gone through several repeat miscarriages instead of being left to worry for another month. It doesn't take long to put a doppler on someone's stomach to give them peace of mind.
