A. B.Very welcoming and friendly staff. Fabulous food, not a huge selection but what they serve is of excellent quality and generous portion sizes. You won't leave hungry! Rooms are a little sparse in their decor with bedrooms in the "new" section of the hotel lacking carpets. But overall a really nice hotel. Would recommend staying there.

M.Great service and great food. We sat in the bar area for our workman's dinner. We had a simple turkey and ham and roast beef dinners that were very tasty. The veg was firm and cooked to perfection. The portions size was on point. The cost today was a mear €15.00 a head per meal.

R. D.The staff is polite and helpful. Good location although nothing to do in Carrickmacross. You can enjoy simple drink and food, but not so delicious though. Breakfast is basic, no salad or cheese, Irish breakfast is mostly pork sausage and backon and no beans or tomato. Coffee in 7 days I got good espresso coffee once. Most of it is Schwarz coffee. Really expected much much more.

M. W.Really nice hotel, great location. Only reason I wouldn't give 5* was the price of the bar food... it was good, but €27 for burger & chips is close to double what I'd expect to pay.
Staff are a credit to the hotel, I had a slight billing issue but got a call within an hour of checking out which resolved it.
I found it hard to find decent accommodation in this area but will definitely come back here... probably won't eat in the bar again is all.
C. M.Wonderful place for lunch. Highly recommend their soup and toasted sandwiches. Their daily carvery is also top class. Service is fast and friendly. Everything is reasonably priced. Place is immaculately clean. Lots of parking nearby.

J. M.We had a lovely stay but I need to point out two members of staff. Claire on reception was very pleasant and helpful. What touched us more was my husband and I did the walking tour and came across Sandra one of the waitresses in the bar/restaurant who was herself off duty but out for a run she recognised us and stopped briefly for a chat. We were so impressed and feel she went above and beyond. Well done Shirley Arms Hotel for your excellent staff.
