We had our wedding there in November 2021. Everything was amazing from start to finish. Caroline and Seamus were both absolutely fantastic, the definition of a dynamic duo. 👏 Caroline was with us from the minute we booked our wedding right up until we went home the day after our wedding. She went above and beyond and nothing was too much for her. Seamus was also amazing,he fixed my hair, he sewed me into my dress when the clasp broke. Without those 2 our wedding would have not been the beautiful day that it was. The waiting staff and bar staff did a great job,very happy with the service. The 1 issue was the way the way the manager ,he was the bar manager as far as I'm aware,spoke to 1 of the bar staff. It was brought to my attention by 1 of my guests that he spoke to them in a derogatory condescending manner. I don't agree with that at all,especially when all the waiting staff and bar staff did such a great job, the bar staff were great craic and we were very happy. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone planning their wedding.

The best service I've ever experienced from management staff in a hotel. We had some issues when we stayed for a few nights last year, and so rather than leaving a poor review we decided to email with some feedback. The manager (I believe his name was Darren) rang me personally to apologise and thank us for the feedback, before going completely out of his way to ensure we felt the issues we raised were being resolved. He was incredibly accommodating & our expectations regarding response to our email were far exceeded. We're returning to the hotel later next month an are v much looking forward to it, as every member of staff we've dealt with since has been nothing but lovely.

A perfect hotel and resort for a Holiday or an event and weddings. Stayed here for a friend's wedding, which the hotel did an amazing job setting everything up for all the guests of the bride and groom from the ceremony area in the lovely garden and wooded lake directly behind the hotel. They even helped set up the snack and drinks bar prior to the scheduled 4 course meal and music and dance floor as well plus an open bar for afterwards. Also, with a restaurant in the hotel, the breakfast was included and it could not be beat. Everyone visiting Westport should stay here or have their next big event at this location.

1. Positive points Good location, very friendly reception staff, comfy bed and pillows, nice shower, hotel with good structure outside 2. Negative points Towels and toilet paper of poor quality, the towls were with holes and not white, as they should be from a 4 star hotel, no fridge in the room, old-fashioned decor in the bedroom and bathroom. They were keys instead of a card to enter the room. the front bedroom windows faced the parking lot, taking away the privacy, my bedroom had to have the curtain closed. There should be a notice on the website saying that the Spa is not working, having this information is very important to avoid frustration.

Stayed at the Westport Woods Hotel in July 2020 and again in June 2021. The reason we stayed a second time was that the first three night experience was so bad that the manager gave us a voucher to experience the stay again. This is the main reason I have given the hotel a rating of 3 and not a 2. While the second stay was a little better, it still had many of the initial issues. Most of the feedback I had given went ignored. The main issues were around meal times. There was long waits, wrong orders coming out and inconsistent quality. This was every meal. Staff were very friendly and willing to help but were vastly unexperienced. While there was some small positives with the stay, on balance for a 4 star hotel, I would not be keen in recommending a stay.

My Mom and I stayed for one night it was a pleasant stay, staff were friendly, room was clean, comfortable night sleep although room and hotel itself could definitely do with a nice fresh coat of paint, Internet is non existing so if you need it during your stay take note especially on bottom floor.... It's a little out of the centre of westport, but taxi service was very efficient booked by reception for us. Would stay again tho.

Rooms were clean, although a bit dated and in need of a face-lift. Just back from a 3 night stay with my sisters. No Internet signal on the lower ground floor which is where our room was, annoying to say the least. Had to go up to hotel lobby to send or receive messages. The spa wasn't open either which was most inconvenient as we were hoping to get some treatments, they just don't have anyone to run it. No beauty therapists to work the spa (they're all prob working from home earning more money, cash in hand). If we had known the spa wasn't going to be open we wouldn't have booked the hotel. Disappointing. Staff were lovely, just not enough of them. Probably won't stay here again.

The spa was closed without notification when booking.....service in general quite slow ....needs more staff to run a hotel efficiently .....a small discount or some other concession would have been a nice gesture to entice maybe a future return ....and wi - fi connection was poor only accessible around reception area which only had one staff member on a checkout morning. Im sure its a work in progress and hope they make plans for all their essential improvements for the future running of the hotel ! In general staff v pleasant.! Best of luck Celine !

Enjoyed a short break in this hotel which is ideally located for sight-seeing in the Westport, Achill Island area - excellent value for money and outstanding venue for families with a kids club and swimming pool on site. Food was very good and the staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. Had a really good experience at this hotel and will return again next time we are in the West.

Not much evidence of Covid precautions - e.g guests not checked for vaccination, sanitisers not filled, etc. Very poor management & service re dining -prioritise coach parties over other guests who are left to queue 30-40mins for breakfasts and dinners. Waiting staff clearly under alot of pressure and maybe not properly trained?

I stayed in the Westport Woods Hotel with my family for a two-night break in July 2021. Check In was fast and the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Room was a family room that had two king size beds and adequate space. View was of the swimming pool building. TV had plenty of channels to keep us entertained. Bathroom was spacious and my only complaint in this room was the quality of toilet paper. All I can say is “Sandpaper”. Restaurant was food quality was average to good and the same in the bar. Breakfast was better with a large selection of hot and cold options. Pool was great and the kids loved it. No changing rooms were available due to COVID so you bring your change of clothes to the side of the pool. The staff were helpful and friendly. Location was 20 min walk from Westport but beware, there are a few steep hills to get there and back so be prepared for that. We thought there was an extensive lake walk at the back of the hotel but this was NOT the case due to some construction near Westport house. Price was the usual 4 star hotel prices. WiFi was AWFUL. So much so that it made dial up internet look like 1G broadband. Reception even gave me the staff WiFi passcode but this was equally as bad. To make matters worse the usual backup phone/cellular internet was atrocious due to a very poor signal which was the case with the Eir and Three mobile networks. So if internet access is important to you think twice before staying in this hotel. It’s the only reason why I would not stay here again. I rate it 3 stars out of 5 due to the internet issues. Otherwise, I’d happily give it a 4-star rating.

This is not a 4 star hotel. In terms of service, quality of bedrooms and public areas, it certainly is nowhere near it, and it was quite a let down to arrive to same. Very, very disappointed in our recent stay. After cycling from Achill, we were very much looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were met with a rude and disinterested receptionist (a lady with blonde hair), not even a hello or 'welcome' were offered. As someone who works in the industry myself this came as a disappointment and a surprise. This is basic stuff. Was advised there was secure bicycle parking prior to booking, could not find this at all. For a hotel so close to a wonderful Greenway, you would think this would be a priority. Our room was not a typical twin bedroom, rather a double and a single, not what was pictured when booking. The room was very dated, so dated in fact that the hotel still uses physical silver door keys. Old doors that ensure noises in corridors can be heard throughout the night. Despite requesting a room on a higher floor this request was not met, we were actually down a flight of stairs on what I would call a basement floor. Same woman on reception aforementioned was unsympathetic and unhelpful. Zero care for guests or any form of hospitality. Not a great first or last impression for a hotel, perhaps may be better suited to a behind the scenes role. WiFi was abysmal throughout our stay both in the room and public areas, incredibly slow. Would recommend avoiding the 1st floor of rooms, they were of an average standard, more 2/3 star hotel standard than 4 star. Obviously those on special rates seem to get the worst rooms perhaps? Requested a morning newspaper on arrival on my check in card, this wasn't delivered. Why offer it at all if you can't guarantee delivery? Dinner in the restaurant was grand, a small selection available from a set menu included in our room rate which we managed to get on an offers site. Staff friendly and tried their best. Breakfast was average, French toast was poor, standard sliced pan and soggy - again, why offer it if your chefs can't cook it properly. The 'buffet' waiting line spiralled through the dining room with long waits, allowing for no social distancing. Staff tried their best but poor/nonexistent training was quite evident throughout our stay. I really felt for them. I asked for a tray and was given a filthy one, with dried in food. Waitress placed my fresh items on this tray, and only attempted to clean it (failing to, unfortunately) when I pointed it out. Juices tasteless and clearly watered down, food came out lukewarm. Clearly a lack of someone competent to run the show. Even at €150 BBD we felt for the quality offered, it was poor value for money. Front desk staff, that one woman in particular, let the hotel down greatly. On their official website, they wanted €150 breakfast only, which I wouldn't have been happy at all with paying. Overall, it was an average stay - let down by poorly trained staff (many of whom try their best despite this), a clear lack of leadership/management, run down/dated bedrooms and public areas which are in dire need of investment and updating. The paint peeling on the front door and rotting/dirty/fading front signage isn't an ideal welcome. With close to a year to prepare during the pandemic, people travelling again will and do, understandably, expect much better than this. Once International tourists return, this standard of hotel will be especially unacceptable to the seasoned traveller. Reading other reviews, my experiences are not unique. This should be a clear sign to management (if there is any, reading this) that something isn't working and needs improvement. There are better hotels in Westport. Would advise going elsewhere to guarantee an enjoyable stay in this wonderful part of Ireland. Edit: Annette on check out was superb. Lovely to deal with and very apologetic. I have added a star to this review as such.

We all need to be active in prevention of COVID 19 but when you are partaking in a leisure stay how having your drink in your room is preventing me getting the virus beats me. We were lucky enough to have an outdoor wedding on the grounds of the hotel and it was class .the gardeners were down there first thing in the morning making sure everything was tidy .Everyone complimented the food and the staff .. caroline and Seamus made everything so easy for us . The children had a great time at the kids club and they had a great time swimming everyday. My daughter left her teddy there and they sent it home to her. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at Westport Woods in April 2019. There were 6 in our party, we had fabulous food both for breakfast and dinner, great service and very good Country music for the 5 night duration of our stay. The swimming pool and leisure centre was very clean . All the staff were superb and our needs were well catered for. We will definitely be back. We had issues with keys on check in, as did others on that evening. We had to move rooms as keys couldn't be found for the rooms. The food on first night was great and service excellent but our second night was very disappointing. Our server really didn't want to be there, her attitude was terrible. The service that night was terrible, we waited one and a half hours for our main course. They did apologise and gave a cut on the bill on check out. The breakfast was only ok. Very basic and quality poor.

Swim regularly with parents. It's frustrating that they allow classes to go on early in the morning (circa 8am) as it means a significant area of the pool is then taken up by these classes. It's not a big enough pool to offer this service to people as well as paying entry when you can reasonably only use 66% of the pool as one third is closed off for these lessons - expensive €6 when looked at this way. Staff however are very good.

Great service. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The food was always hot and fresh and the soup was amazing (definitely worth tasting). The kids enjoyed the forest walks and the play area at the back of the hotel. Online booking was very convenient and checking in and out was very quick. Really nice staff. Professional and polite. Asked for a room upgrade. (10 year wedding anniversary) got one but it was just a room with an extra double bed??!! Don't want to sound ungrateful. But there are nicer rooms which I know we're empty. Anyway...... Price was very very reasonable. Rooms were clean. Free WIFI. Couple of tiles missing from bathroom, no big deal. Very nice swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Gym was decent. All in all, a nice place. I recommend.

Good hotel. Great staff. Rooms a bit dated and bed a bit small. Food fab. Pool and gym are great and spa is amazing with the best deals and offers. I had a seaweed bath and loved it. Kids had a great time although they where not too happy with the "kids club". Playground could use updating my toddler wanted to play on the frame but it was too dangerous and hard for him to climb alone. It says free wifi but it didn't work at all. For the price I payed I would expect a little better quality in most things and I think family rooms should be bigger. Not just be a regular room with a cot and sofa bed thrown in.

Hotel is located relatively central in the town and has a really nice area around it for going for walks. Staff were really friendly. The breakfast is okay. Rooms are nice, though if you're on the bottom level you wont have any Wifi or Mobile network coverage

This hotel is quite rudimentary. Bedroom and bathroom are definitely in need of an update. The rooms have no soundproofing at all. All the comings and goings are very audible all throughout the night. The breakfast is adequate but nothing to write home about. Staff loudly discussing a manager's shortcomings while serving breakfast just feels a little unprofessional. For the price, it is okay - nothing more than that.

We love it here. We have been this summer and last summer. Kids club is brilliant gives mom and dad a good break. Food is to die for. There was a small mix up with the room and the management sorted it quickly and gave us a drink on the house, now that's what I call service. The bar man Rossy is underutilised, he is a font of knowledge when it comes to alcohol and cocktails. I think he could create a fantastic cocktail menu for any bar. He was a joy to chat to and made us some of the nicest cocktails ever. We will be back every summer.

Accommodation was nice. Rooms and facilities were clean. Breakfast was nice with plenty of variety depending of your taste. Dinner selection in the bar is better than the restaurant but food is nice.

I stayed at the hotel for a week. And overall the stay was pleasant but there was some issues. The positives were that the hotel visually was brilliant and the food was amazing. It made up for all the closed restaurants around Westport due to the CoVID-19 situation. The rooms were alright. The beds were comfy and I did get a good night's rest. However I did notice there were were some scratches and scuffs on some of the door frames. The wifi in the room was non-existent and the times my phone did connect to the internet, the wifi was veryyyyy slow. It meant that I could get any work done in my room and to top it all off my data wouldn't work well in the room. To get good wifi I had to either stay in the corridor outside my room or work in the Hotel Lobby. Which I didn't like at all. Personally I prefer to work in private and it just felt uncomfortable working in the lobby. So that was a bit of a bummer for me. But if they could improve their WiFi infrastructure so that there is range in the rooms then this hotel would be an amazing place to stay! It's super close to a wide array of tourist attractions including Westport House. TLDR: This hotel is a good place to stay when visiting. The WiFi range could be improved so that it extends into the rooms and not just the lobby and corridors

We went for a weekend away, at the time of booking it didn't sound like it was going to be a good hotel as service wasn't great over the phone. When we arrived they staff were really helpful. They even gave us a delux room instead of a standard room. Breakfast was Inc and it was lovely. Had a lovely weekend away.

I have been to Westport Woods more than once with my family for our summer holiday. The Wi-Fi is really disappointing but that is the only criticism I could make. The staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly. The restaurant provides fabulous breakfast and dinner experiences and there are on site kids clubs to keep the small ones busy in the evenings. We come here every year. Great place for a family break. Food is top notch, staff are fantastic. The bar man Rossy makes amazing cocktails and knows a whole lot about alcohol. The other bar staff seemed unable to cope as well on the nights Rossy was not in if I'm honest. It seemed to us like he keeps the bar going smoothly. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars this year is the kids club. Every other year it's been fab with loads and loads to do. But sadly this year it was not up to scratch. It seemed very unorganized and the staff running it seemed disinterested in Being there. I spoke to about 5 other families who felt the same about kids club. The large screen for movies was broken too and they have no games or toys or anything you would expect in a good club. And my two kids said every day they just played the same game over and didn't do much else. They refused to go after day 3 and we did our own thing after that. It was lacklustre at best. The other years we have been the kids club had been just amazing. So we where a little disappointed at this. Especially because the kids where not happy, and we come to Westport woods because it's a family place. For the price you pay for a break away in Ireland I would expect things like this to be better organised. Hopefully next year will be an improvement. We will definitely be back. All else is amazing. Entertainment nightly at the bar. Good food, good staff, nice comfortable beds. I would definitely recommend here for a little break.
