An extensive collection of vintage items from 1800's to the Modern day. Terrific guides aswell. The surrounding park/playground/bouncy castles/activities area and community centre, make going to this museum a whole day's worth of enjoyment.

Really enjoyed my visit today with one of my friends and will certainly be back. Very friendly and helpful staff and an absolute Aladdin's cave of militaria.

Great way to spend some family time together and learn at the same time. Lots to look at. The staff are really friendly and have loads of knowledge and information. We were even allowed to hold some things and feel how heavy some of the armour is. Overall great day out.

Is an amazing place, the workers are friendly and insightful on weapons and other things that are in the museum. I still remember when I was told British soldiers used their ring fingers to rapid fire their Lee Enfield's by one of the workers years ago
also out the back there is a lot of interesting things to do like holding weapons or buying books. there is also re-enactment that are amazing and a fun watch
I would highly recommend this place to anyone, even people who aren't into military history as there is fun things to do and see

Went camping here for 3 nights with the kids. Had a blast, would definitely recommend. Military museum is a must see, absolutely brilliant. They even have tank driving which was awesome. William and all the staff were great. Best camping we've done. Also has a huge blowup assault course thing for kids at the weekend. Love it. Barely saw the kids so it was the perfect family break.

This is a must see
Great selection of firearms and military vehicles
A large obstacle course and maze to keep the kids happy and on weekends the inflatable obstacle course is open and worth a go
To top the the day off book the tank rides it is worth every penny
The owner William is very friendly and an encyclopedia of information on all that is on display
Will be returning for a camping stay soon
Well worth it
P. M.
Unbelievable, what a collection of war / military memorabilia. I didn't expect to see something as good as this, was blown away. Had arranged to meet friends there so the kids could play on the bouncy castles for a couple of hours. Only realised the museum was there too when I checked the website. Would 100% recommend and will return as I didn't expect this to be so big and so interesting. Well worth the trip
J. W.
Absolutely loved it. Staff were so friendly and helpful and you could see they enjoyed chatting about the different features. Great value for money. They have a small shop at the exit which is a crowd pleaser. And a picnic area and park were spotless. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Really enjoyed camping at the military museum, the kids ( and us) loved the museum and the tank ride...we got a few hours peace while they did the inflatable obstacle course at the weekend. Camping facilities are basic, but there are plans to improve them. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere.
M. R.
Fantastic place kids really enjoy it as well as myself and wife.

Absolutely fabulous, lovely owner and staff. The museum is absolutely fantastic there is so much to take in and the staff are always on hand to answer any questions. The staff are very knowledgeable on all aspects of the museum. Overall a lovely place to visit, I would give this museum more stars if I could! Wonderful.

Really found this place very interesting. My hubby and his son loved the place. The owner was very into his hobby and was able to tell us some interesting war stories and his collection of War artefacts are one of the best we have seen to date.We have visited a few on France and this place tops them by far . Well worth a visit. We proudly donated a German War gun leather holster to this Museum . Remembering the heroes ❤.
P. B.
The only one of it's kind on the island. William is a lovely guy who had time to tell you all about his collection.
We visited during Covid and there was excellent precautions on show. The collection is fascinating and we were lost in the exhibit for hours.
The inflatable play area is closed due to restrictions but there is a large covered outdoor picnic area and an outdoor obstacle course for kids.
We had a great time.

Went here on the recommendation of friends and loved it. A quirky fun place with the owner and staff on hand to give you a run down of the place.
You get some cool audio guides that you are able to hold next to a chip and then gives you the audio about the display you are looking at. It is a nice addition and one I haven’t seen too much around the place.
The displays are from the private collection of the owner and it is very impressive. The kids are able to handle some of the weapons and my boy absolutely loved it.
You can spend a few hours here or go through pretty quickly. For what it is, it is very well done especially when it isn’t a government/state owned war memorial.

I would highly recommend the irish military war museum to both young and old. I visited with a 8 girls/boys aged between 7-13yrs. Without exception they all has a brilliant time. I was amazed with the greeting we got from the owner William who was also only too happy to show off his pieces and give us all a better understanding of what we were seeing. Great value for money from this hidden gem
T. M.
The best day out that we have had in ages. Amazing collection of military history and the guys there were so nice to our children and so knowledgeably. We did the tank spin and it was great craic. Would have no problem recommending this place 100 %. It was also great value for money.
K. G.
Fab historical place for adults and children to visit. The staff are so helpful and friendly.

We had our 7 year olds birthday party here last weekend.
From start to finish it was such a pleasant and stress free experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful, from William and Sharon to the boys at the bouncing castles.
All the children left happy and well fed and it's still being talked about a week later.
Thanks again guys.

Love this place, the Halloween event they had was brilliant. The museum is amazing too definitely worth a visit. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back
L. M.
Great setup, staff and it's interactive with certain guns that can be held! My son (9) absolutely loved it!
N. L.
Visited here today. Amazed at the equipment that was on display. There were WWII pieces there i thought I'd never get to see in my life never mind pick them up and look at them. Definitely worth a visit. Great staff too good craic.
J. M.
Excellent way to spend a couple of hours. €12.50 admission fee for adults. There is weapons which can be handled. Great display pieces very knowledgeable staff. Teas and coffee also available
A. K.
5 of us travelled 100 miles with the pure purpose of visiting this museum. It was 100% worth it!
The fact that you are allowed to hold authentic rifles and machine guns and see all the authentic display pieces is fantastic!
I've visited the big London Museums and enjoyed them but NOT AS MUCH AS THIS MUSEUM!
The staff were wonderful and engaging in telling stories about the items displayed (of which there are hundreds and hundreds) Such an experience. One I will truly cherish, thank you.
100% RECOMMEND!
O. C.
Amazing place! I've never seen before american combat vehicles and there are several types here in very good conditions. We really enjoyed everything here. The owner is very kind and helpful. He has big knowledge about the war histories and weapons.
L. K.
I camped here for 4 nights with my two children 8 and 10. They had an absolute ball, we visited the museum which is packed with lots of war memorabilia with lots of opportunities to hold some impressive pieces. We did the tank experience too and that was just brilliant highly recommend doing that. They have play ground with obstacle course, small maze, and huge inflatables that open on sat and Sunday. The owner William is so helpful and a gent. Really looking forward to our next stay.

DO NOT MISS OUT !!!! 👍The best military museum I've ever seen on the middle of nowhere. Worth every seconds what we spent there. The host extremely friendly and very informative. He is the collector of these stuffs. Well done. 👏 See you again! A+++

The Irish Military Museum just outside Collon, Co. Louth is a credit to the owner. There is a huge abundance of Militaria inside & out. Each section has extremely detailed information & facts about the time period being displayed. Such care has been taken to ensure you enjoy your experience with audio assistance throughout. Accurate representation of life in the army in times gone by is just phenomenal. Young & old alike with any interest in Military history will be absolutely thrilled with what's in store here. Allow yourself a few hours for the visit as the amount of history detailed & displayed needs to be given the appropriate time to be appreciated fully. There are toilets on site & wheelchair facilities available. I didn't see a restaurant but there is plenty of outdoor space with benches out in the open & under a huge canopy to use for the picnic you should bring. In my opinion the entrance price is fantastic for families & just adults alike . There is more than enough to justify the price. If you have kids who are very young & hard to keep interested there are bouncy castles, ducks, ponies, playpark onsite too to keep them busy. Plenty of parking available & lots of disabled parking spots allocated. Lots of events are run here too & the price is not altered to gain access so if you can attend when there is an event on like for example 'The Viking Experience' you get double your monies worth too!!! We have a 14yo son & we LOVE visiting this place. 10/10. #andireviews

Great for the kids and staff are very nice and helpful
B.
Drove nearly four hours to see this place and I wasn’t disappointed! William the owner is incredibly helpful and friendly. Told me how his hobby (dare I saw obsession!) of collecting military memorabilia developed in to the museum.
Was amazed at the exhibits. Interesting to see the development of uniforms and weapons over the last centuries. Many genuine vehicles from WW2 from both sides of the European theatre.
I will definitely come back one day!
P. G.
Excellent entertaining and educational visit. In a relaxed setting. Some exhibits can be handled and sat on and the hand sterilization protocol is to a very high standard. Hand sanitizers every where which is very reassuring. The owners have a love of this place and are happy to share their knowledge and background to the exhibits which is fascinating. Great place.
Highly recommended.
Z. M. R.
Great selection of weapons and equipment, very knowledgeable staff plus they let you interact with some pieces. Very reasonably priced tickets too, and not adequate if you take into consideration how much it cost to acquire all the pieces... if you could add a shooting range I'll be over the moon and happily paid for it. At the back there is an inflatable park as well, great for the families with kids!
D. S.
What a great place to bring the kids..History facts stories get up close to the real pieces of world war memorabilia...loads to see for parents and kids...take your time through the museum u dont want to miss anything. .
J. M.
You don't have to be interested in war and militaria to enjoy this great space. Fascinating collection, knowledgeable and friendly owner. Safe play and picnic area for small children. A great day out. Amazing it is not better promoted by the County Council and Failte Ireland. It shows what private passion can achieve.
F. O.
Very good historical facts and items which some can be held with the help of the guides.very friendly staff
P. M. O.
Visited for Halloween activities with the children - bouncy castles, pumpkin patches & carving etc. - which were good fun, but the overall impression was the place could do with more investment/ modernising.
S. M.
We went for Halloween event and I can tell.my daughter was really impressed. She is keep saying to me to go back on the jumping castles to run just with sock😁 we took food with us, so we had wonderful picnic outside and spend really nice time! Highly recommend
K. O.
I saw this beautiful antique canon there. I also loved the fresh air.
k. K.
Attended the Halloween event with the children. It was well organised and although it was a wet night, so much fun!
G. W.
Great display of war memorabilia, my kids absolutely enjoyed it.

Amazing place for all military collectors and people interested in military history!
Only place like it in Ireland

Perhaps the best museum I have ever visited. William (the owner) is so knowlegable and enthusiastic which makes him a very interesting guide. The amount of items in the museum is astonishing. William has dedicated his time to finding some amazing authentic items which you can also pick up and handle. Definitely go visit, I can't wait to return!
P. F.
This museum is an absolute must see. I brought my 8 year old son and he thought it was "class". He was allowed to hold several guns and I got plenty photos.
Guides have a passionate knowledge of war history. There is also a handheld wireless information system which is great for kids because there is no heavy reading and the commentary from the owner is great, giving extra detail on where he bought items.
Well worth the entry fee and no massive pressure to buy in the souvenir shop after.
S. D.
Expensive and expected more. Had to pay extra for bow and arrow shooting,as well as axe throwing.. Expected same as advertised Tobe part of the package. Expected boat trip as this is what is protrayed on leaflet. Coffee/tea but no sandwiches to buy. Wouldn't recommend this.
N. R.
Amazing museum. Had pretty low expectations but blown away when I arrived. Packed with amazing exhibits, well guided and explained. A little gem!
N. B.
Great museum. Great credit to the owners. Its a must see for WW enthusiasts and the likes.
Dogs are also allowed, on a leash.
Good outdoor area for a picnic and small playground for the kids
P. A.
There was a viking weekend it was great the museum is well worth a luck
E. M.
A great collection of weapons, vehicles and other artefacts from - primarily - the first and second world wars. Perhaps unusually for a museum, they actively encourage visitors to pick up and handle many of the exhibits. Want a selfie with an AK47? Or a Thompson submachine gun? Or a Bren gun? No problem! Our guide - Fergus - was very knowledgeable and interesting and at the end of the tour we got to take a spin through the mud in an armoured personnel carrier. A great day out for anyone with any interest in military history.
S. D.
Fantastic collection of militaria. Great hands on experience for the kids who were delighted to be able to actually pick up the weapons (hand sanitized first of course!) The owner was easily accessible to answer all our questions.
f. g. 7. W.
Museum was brilliant full of authentic war artefacts and the guides were engaging and generous with their knowledge. Plenty of room on the grounds to explore, ample playground and the carrier ride was class.

Tank ride is a must! Awesome 😍 Myself and my 8yr old camped here over the weekend and loved the whole experience from museum to playground 🤗
K. Ó. B.
The Irish Military War Museum is an absolutely amazing experience. I travelled up from Dublin but it was EASILY worth the distance. What I couldn't get over the most is the sheer quantity of weapons and paraphernalia they have from ww1, ww2 and the Irish Revolution. They literally have so many guns, vehicles and tanks. We splashed out then and did the tank ride, which was just so different and a really special for me and my Dad. The guys were so lovely there too and accommodating. A++ gentlemen.
B. D.
Absolutely amazing, a lovely knowledgeable tour guide, kids really enjoyed it too. A visit is a must, you will go back for more.
J. B.
Brilliant day very interactive.. highly recommend for TY year students . Staff particularly friendly helpful and knowledgeable
A. W.
An absolute gem of a museum, so.much history contained under one roof. A great family treat with plenty of open space and a playground out back for little ones to enjoy.
Willie the owner and collector of all the pieces on display is always around and happy to stop and chat about his collecting and his knowledge on the items is second to none.
This museum deserves to be more well known.
If you happen upon a day there when the reenactors are around it just adds to the experience.
You owe it to yourself to visit IMWM.
D. M.
Camp site was amazing so much to do and the experience of the museum was fantastic all exhibits were belong to one man who started collecting them from an early age amazing highly recommend it
R. K.
It was an absolutely fantastic experience not every day you get to drive a tank .Beautiful playground for the kids and the museum is second to none

Fergus and William were incredible. The museum is excellent but those guys bring it to another level. They are passionate and extremely knowledgeable. They give you great insights and information about the exhibits. The crowning glory for my sons was being able to touch and hold different items. They loved it and so did I. Will definitely be back.
M. M.
Brilliant day out kids had fantastic time at birthday party .and myself and my wife loved the museum and the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful
T. D.
Lots of amazing items, they are a little off the beaten path, but well worth it! They give a description of all the different things and how they were used, from gas masks, uniforms, tanks to guns. My husband's favorite part, you could touch some items!!
T. W.
Great museum, hands on and personal guides on hand to tell you about what your looking at, well worth a visit, but give yourself plenty if time to go around museum

This is truly a very hidden gem. Its advertisement and web page does not do it justice this is truly a one in life time experience even for people with no interest with military and the wealth of knowledge from Fergus our tour guide was phenomenal we were able to hold guns and touch the tanks and the staff was so kind. We made thist trip up from limerick and we will definitely come back again.
T. M.

This place is amazing and the staff are awesome. The museum itself is a treasure trove of memorabilia and the staff are on hand to give you information and tell you when and how everything was used. I also went tank driving, which was an amazing experience. The instructor was fun and informative and made you feel comfortable immediately. If you are looking for a really great day out, this is the place. Thank you to all the staff.

G. D.
Fantastic experience! My son and I are huge WW2 enthusiasts and as we were the only visitors there at the time, our guide Gavin spent a good couple of hours talking us thru the exhibits. We got to handle dozens of authentic weapons . Dream come true for us. Can't recommend highly enough for anyone interested in WW1 and WW2.

We went to spooky night. It was good and scary. On the field were many bouncy castles, kids could enjoy a time the also. On field we picked pumpkin for each child and later they did faces on them. All equipment were provided. There was big scary maze too. We had good time there. My boys wants to come back and explore the museum at normal times as there are good displays of military.
B. K.
Excellent time here, very helpful and informative staff with an outstanding selection to learn about

Finally got to visit here today and I was not disappointed.
Great displays and the audio guide given was very informative.
It wasn't too busy and the owner gave us even more background to some of the pieces at the end of the museum.
We travelled with a 10 year old who had great fun in the inflatable arena.
Overall, a great day out, reasonably priced, very interesting, and easy to get to.
Highly recommended.
D. C.
Great day out with kids would highly recommend this for both kids and adults to learn about history and equipment used by armies and their advancement in technology. Fabulously play area for kids and great price .the only faults I could find was that that path to the kids play area was uneven ground not great for wheelchair or buggies and the road to the museum is not fit for two cars side by side and it's not greatly signed posted.but still a great spot very informative we will definitely go back
E. H.
Jack & Ed Visited Irish Military War Museum again today our last visit was in 2014 it was a vary interesting experience then and much more so today 30/08/2020 with its expanded displays of historic both national and international weaponry.
The museum in these Covid Times is in our opinion safe to visit and well managed.
It’s Well worth a visit we highly recommend this Viewing of its varied collection from a general Interest and a reminder of what wars are and have been for those at the front.
This brings to mind the young local Slane man and wonderful poet and WW1 Soldier Francis Ledwedge killed in 1915 and in his very wise words I quote:
—————————————————————-
“Oh what a pleasant world 'twould be,
How easy we'd step thro' it,
If all the fools who meant no harm,
Could manage not to do it.”

Arrived Friday evening at 4. Great playground and duck pond. Saturday, 7euro per child for a full day of super bouncy castle's. Excellent days entertainment for 5 children, age's 5 to 10. Camper van with electric 20euro. I would highly recommend this day. War museum an extra bonus..
B. L.
I hidden gem. I could have walked around for hours with the kids listening to the guide. Great wee spot!!!
l. g.
A brilliant place, extremely friendly staff, fergus and william you made our children's day, they have autism so we were anxious they would touch things but you had no problem letting them try on helmets and holding the guns.. Thank you so much. We will definitely return
C. W.
This was a great experience, well laid out and the guides were very informative. It was all very personal to them and it was the anecdotes as well as the information which really made an impact.
The big difference between this museum and others we've been to (including the Imperial War Museum in London) is that although very small in comparison obviously, this place actually allows you to touch things - you can hold the guns, fidget with engines, sit in the Jeep etc. My boys (husband and son) were in their element!!
There are also picnic areas and a playground. And huge inflatable, bouncy castle things (at an extra charge of 5 euro).
We really enjoyed the visit.
R. F.
One of the best Museums in Ireland. Very compact and very interesting items. Robert 👌
D. W.
Very interesting place to visit, Staff Very friendly definitely going back.
B. D. S.
What a fantastic place....the kids loved it! So much to do to wear them out!
Would recommend.
M. R.
Hallowe'en at the museum. Fab setup, 3 hour slots which were perfect for picking the pumpkins with plenty of time for the inflatable play area. The employees who work there are fantastic as well, keeping control of hyper kids and doing it all with a constant smile on their faces! We'll definitely be back!!
P. D.
Visited the Irish War Museum with friends on Saturday 13th January. We were pleasantly surprised as soon as we entered the building to be able to have hands on experience straight away, in holding and finding out how the rifles and various types of ammunition worked.
The entrance fee of €10 per adult was excellent value. Our guide Fergus was extremely knowledgeable on every aspect of the History of the various wars, and passionate about the artifacts in the museum. We were allowed to hold various weapons and were told in great detail the story behind each item. We were amazed at our guides attention and passion to detail, and amusing us as well as stirring a sense of horror as to the grim reality of such conflicts.
The uniforms and displays of tanks, jeeps and bunkers are a visual treat for those with an interest in war history.
William the owner whom we also met on our visit was friendly and chatted to us about the purchases and anecdotes about bringing some of the tanks through customs!
All in all we would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this museum. Just one word of note though, is it is VERY cold inside the museum so layer up.
A tea/coffee machine and snacks are available in the entrance.
Overall view, an enthralling experience. Would definitely return.
D. D.
Great family day out, Our little boy loved every minute, we had a guided tour with Fergus who was brilliant at explaining the history of everything within the museum and about both World Wars. The second part of our tour included a tank ride was with William who could not have done more for us to make our sons experience better, the venue itself is really well planned out with a brilliant outdoor picnic & play area for kids to enjoy. I would highly recommend a visit here to anyone with military interest or are perhaps like me raising a possible soldier in the making, no doubt we will be repeat visitors.
T. C.
What an AMAZING place! One of the hidden gems of military collections in the country. Really surprised at the breath on display. Far from a shed in the countryside, there is a high quality line up of WW I, WW II and more modern military vehicles, weapons and uniforms. I also got the pleasure of driving a tank which was a wonderful experience. The guided tour of the museum is excellent with knowledgeable guides. One of the most unique aspects of this museum is the hands on experience of holding weapons of all shapes and sizes. You can really get a feel with the large range of deactivated authentic guns on show, and even have the guides explain how they operate! I would honestly recommend this for anyone with an interest in military history.
D. L.
Great experience. Well worth the trip from Cork.
j. n.

Visited with friends. Spent the morning tank driving which was epic fun. Bill, the tank instructor is knowledgeable, skilled, entertaining and professional. We went for a stroll around the museum afterward. It has a surprisingly good collection of military uniforms, kit, armaments and vehicles. Staff were all friendly. Will be back.

Excellent for kids especially the tank ride. They were allowed to hold guns and bombs. The people were very nice and knew a lot about all wars. They knew a lot of facts about the vehicles also. There was a guy calles Fergus and he even got my three children a mars bar. Definitely recommend it for all ages.
T. H.
It was a great experience. The staff members are great and know everything about what's in the museum probably because it's a collection turned into a museum! We road in the tank which was a lot of fun! There are other things being added for events. Great experience!
C. O.
Had a great day at Irish Military War Museum. Plenty to see and the commentary was terrific. Everyone there was only too delighted to help and answer any questions. Great play area for the kids and seats a plenty for picnic.
P. S.
Great bit of history, recommend to young people.!
B. O. R. S. (. 1.
Great can you get a bus to this place
m. m.
For a private collection it has to be one of the best museum's I have ever visited. The ower is full of enthusiasm backed up with real sound knowledge about everything on display. One of the best parts is being able touch equipment which helps gain a deeper respect to all who we owe so much... I would highly recommend a visit... check out web-site for Family days & Group arrangements.
A. M.
While war is one of the greatest dreads of our time, it happened, and this Military Museum puts you back into the moments on battlefields, in the trenches, on vehicles and even in hospitals. It is a brilliant collection and so well put together.
It is a great Family day out with ample parking and seating for picnics etc.
Would highly recommend a visit!
S. W.
Friendly and involving. Good staff very informative.
S. 2.
My wife and I were on vacation in Ireland and with myself being in the military, we decided to check out the museum. It was an impressive collection of military hardware starting from around the beginning of the 20th century up until the 2000’s. I definitely enjoyed being able to handle the weapons as that was indeed unique about this museum compared to others. My only complaint, which isn’t actually a complaint, is that I was hoping there would be more history regarding the Irish Army. Regardless it was worth it.
*Additionally, the owner was an awesome individual and I throughly enjoyed talking to him. Couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful.
F. v. H.
One of our family's best days out! Brilliant museum to visit. Awesome experience for the whole family!
S. C.
Fantastic day out. This museum is as good & better than anything on the continent. We were amazed that something so good is such a secret.
P. L.
A fantastic museum and an experience well worth the entrance fee. I would advise going in a group if you can, and definitely one of the most "hands-on" museums I have ever been to. I hope it has a prosperous future and gets the opportunity to grow.
Don't be afraid to bring children along, as the playground and duck ponds should be enough to keep them entertained for a good while as well.
C. S.
Great place to visit, lots of information. First museum I've been to where you can handle authentic decommissioned weapons. Really enjoyed our visit. Tank rides available too.
K. B.
Guys are fantastically knowledgeable, nothing ever a problem either with handling of the exhibits, I could have stayed hours and will next time.
Done the tank driving, tis a 13ton APC, tis great craic and would recommend to all.
r. j.
very nice place
J. R.
Had a great morning here with friends, driving a tank, strolling around the museum. Quite an impressive collection for a private museum. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Bill the tank guy is great. Did I mention driving the tank? :-)
C. R. j.
You can see almost everything from the warzone .... Infact you can try few gunnns.
J. O.
The best museum I have ever been in. Very little behind glass so you can touch the items. Guides were really enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Fantastic day out
E. H.
Great niche museum, contents are well displayed. There's a self guided audio tour thats done by the owner himself and is not just a dry explanation but has added nuggets regarding how some of the exhibits were obtained.
w.
Whole family had great day there. Not typical museum where you can only watch and touching is forbiden. Lot of things including guns you can handle, fantastic ride in APC, driving lesson for my brother. Kids were delighted. Even our ladies were laughing like teenagers.
I. C.
Best day ever !! The museum is fascinating so much to see and the guy there knew so much and share all the info. And driving around in the tank was a fantastic experience. Can't wait to go again
l. f.
Excellent. was there on Sunday and couldn't believe the amount of items in this collection. A real hands on museum. Handling machine guns & rifles only ever seen in glass cases in other places. Staff who share their knowledge and passion for this subject. A real treat for anyone with an interest in ww2. Well worth a visit. looking forward to the new extension to see what other treats William has in store for us...
R. K.
Amazing tour best museum ever
M. F.
This museum had a large display of military items, very well laid out and the guides are very informative, great for kids groups also as there is lots of activities outside also , would definitely recommend a visit
J. C.
Lovely experience here camping. The team were so helpful. Great weekend had
P. S.
This is an amazing private collection of military staff (from vehicles to weapons) from the Great War until recent days. Even though size wise it can't compete with the giants like the Imerial War Museum of London but it beats most of them in interactivity. As a military vet myself I have seen and used a wide range of weapons yet in this place I was able to touch guns I have only seen in video games such as Call of Duty. Absolutely needless to say it brought the child out of me don't even mention the effect of it on my 9 years old son. Ever since we have visited the museum he is all over around history. He is 10 now and he is watching documentaries and reading!!! about WW2. The effects on him is amazing. I will most definitely visit this place again.
F. G.
Amazing war museum with ww1 ww2 Vietnam and current day. Huge selection and you can drive tanks if you want! Great for kids too aim much activists so not just a museum! Top class! You can hold any weapons you can see and owners give you the history. Brilliant experience!
P. S.
This museum is a hidden gem. For something that grew from a private collection it has now blossomed into a must see exhibition of weaponry from the first world war right up to the modern era. One thing stands out in particular, unlike other museums where everything is locked behind glass, here you get to hold various weapons, from world war one rifles to AK47's. Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't get to see the collection of vehicles outside but we will be returning in the summer to see this most excellent museum again.
B. F.
Was part of a school trip of 26 students today we took them here and they had the best day ever. Very accomadating with children we will definitely be back again.
F. O. L.
Great for 1st and 2nd world wars memoberalia, lots to look at ad very interesting . Staff very helpful with your questions.

Very well laid out. Amazing amount of military stuff.. Great play ground for kids. Bouncing castle's. Etc. Lovely area for picnic..
K. G.
Fabulous time there with friendly knowledgable staff that made it even more interesting. Covid friendly to.
A. G.
I'm a woman who brought a man but was really entertained by the amount of stuff to see I brought what it really must have been like in real war combat. You are able to hold the rifles and guns and I was shocked by the weight of them, you don't get this in other places.Great friendly staff too.
j. o. c.
Fantastic day out for all, and lovely staff that were able to answer any questions about the exhibits.
great outdoor activities, for the kids, a great place to spend a day, I would highly recommend it,
Thanks so much .
L. D.
We visited this brilliant museum on May 5th. There were four of us looking for the way to spend a rainy morning and luckily found this amazing place. One man's obsession with his collection of military objects has now become somewhere than we can all enjoy. No matter what age there is something for everyone. The fact that the majority of the exhibits can be handled makes it come alive. The staff were great fun, we had a conducted tour by Colm who obviously loves the place.. We would certainly recommend it.
E. B.
Fantastic museum, very interesting and informative. Incredible to see the large collection. Thanks so much. We will be back!
M. E.

L. K.
Bit on the pricey side. Seems good 4 kids though
M. M.
Just did Museum, for 5€ extra can go outside to a large play area,my son & I arrived near closing time, the museum was empty & offers a hands on experience with most of the exhibits,it's good place to go near,45 minutes from M50 Junction 5.
M. D.
Excellent day out, the guids are really great and thought me a thing or two. Great for children too. The place is being extended an I look forward to visiting again soon. Lots more to see. And a must visit.

K. B.
Off the beaten track but worth a visit for fans of military hardware from the world wars. Experts on hand to answer any questions that arise and they might even allow a more hands on experience with some of the items on display.
L. M.
What a great place to visit
the staff are a wealth of knowledge and more than welcome to share it with you .it's a great collection any war buff would be more than happy
Thanks for a great day we will be back again
M. O. N. (.
As an avid military historian for the last 20 years i was unsure as to what to expect from a military history museum I had never heard of. Within 2 minutes of arriving, I was absolutely blown away (no pun intended!) William greeted me with an MG42 German machine gun at the door and handed it to me!! I have never come across such a collection of arms, artifacts, reenactments portraying various conflicts, original uniforms or such well designed and laid out displays. William and his staff have an unbelievable knowledge of military history and know intimately the story of each item in the museum which is no mean feat, given the sheer number of items within the museum. In IWM Duxford in the UK, one can perhaps hold a chained to the wall machine gun or pistol. However in the IMWM, you are actively encouraged to both hold and examine a large number of weapons, artifacts and immerse yourself in the displays on hand.
It was a true pleasure to meet someone with such a knowledge and passion for a subject I have studied for most of my adult life and a trip to this museum should be a must for school children throughout Ireland to give them an insight into military events that shaped the modern world.
I look forward to returning soon and want to take this opportunity to thank both Bill and his staff for a truly wonderful day.
J. F. C.
Great day out! Our guide was so informative. Kids loved it and adults too. Fantastic playground. Will definately be back. Thank you!

C.
This was the best war museum I have ever been to. Fergus Tks for the tour and letting us hold the guns and telling us the history of each one.
t.
This very rural museum sits on high ground just like artillery spotters used to enjoy when using some of the lethal weaponry inside. If you want to see and hold items that were used in anger, the Irish Military War Museum must be on your bucket list.
M. P.
Really great place with loads of interesting memorabilia. Tour guides are fantastic. Do the tank driving if you get a chance, it is amazing fun
R. F.
A great evening including a spooky tour of the museum and some pumpkin carving and bouncy castles! Two very tired kids this evening and not far behind them myself.
