As my first port of call was the hotel at about 8pm on Thursday 5th of August , I must say I was very impressed on arriving there.
The building itself is has a lovely appearance and charm to it. The outdoor terrace at the front has plenty of space, seating, two very nice fountains and lovely exterior lighting.
On entering the reception, I was greeted by a lovely lady (I apologize for not remembering her name) who swiftly got me checked in for the night and booked a table for me for dinner.
My room was small but cozy and the bed was so so comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. I was informed I had taken the last available room as the hotel was booked out which is great to see after the tough times the hospitality industry has had in recent times.
The food that night and breakfast the next morning were just perfect. Thank you Chef.
I have to say I have never been addressed as sir as much during a stay at any other hotel, but I have to say it is a very nice touch as It conveyed a strong sense of professionalism, courtesy, friendliness and efficiency that the staff displayed in spades.
I must commend the staff for being so nice to me during my brief stay, it was truly appreciated.
I will definitely be back for a stay again when I am up that way in the future and I am interested to see what the larger rooms look like.

E. M.Beautiful sitting outdoor area and lovely atmosphere. Staff very efficient, attentive and polite. Food is fantastic, from starter to dessert. My only issue is that the portions are very small for the prices charged. I'm someone who can't eat large meals and would get full quite quickly but I was still feeling hungry shortly after 3 courses. In my opinion, eating out is a luxury. you should at least not feel the urge to cook later as eating out is a luxury, to have a relaxing time with family and not have to worry about preparing food later. They only served 1 small slice of beef for the main course, where other places would serve 2 or 3. Only 1 or 2 slices if a half portion was requested.

A. P.Lovely cozy hotel, stayed here for 3 weeks on a business trip and was sad to leave! Staff is wonderful, they learned our names and would ask us about our weekends, gave suggestions for places to eat and things to do, and even remembered our morning coffee orders. Rooms are charming with comfortable beds. The restaurant is great, and we really loved the breakfast. If I'm in the area again I would love to stay here!!

Definitely a location to support for the effort and investment they have made to give us a wonderful place to socialize safely in Drogheda.

S.Scholar's is probably the finest restaurant and boutique hotel in Drogheda. A former monastery it has been very tastefully refurbished while retaining its original architectural features. Fine dining is available outdoors on the terrasse or indoors in the gastropub, or restaurant or private room. Lovely menu, delicious food and reasonably priced for such a very tranquil, relaxing and upmarket setting. The place is very well managed and the staff, that include Dean and Ali, are very helpful, friendly and highly professional. You may pay a few extra euro for the privilege of dining here but it is worth it. Highly recommended.

A. T.I had a great time at the Scholars Townhouse Hotel in June 2021. I couldn't find any fault in the hotel, staff were absolutely amazing, everyone was very welcoming, friendly and professional. The food was wonderful and we were extremely happy for the gluten free options. The room was extremely clean and so was the whole hotel/restaurant area. Thank you for everything! G. B.Highly Recommend this location - walk-in location in the car park area with lots of tables well distanced. Serving casual dining and drinks from both the Food Trucks and Marquee Bar locations.
Bookings are required for the more formal dining on the veranda of the hotel, also really well laid out with well distanced tables and some covered in areas.
Staff are friendly, professional and very well trained to give great service in both locations.
Definitely a location to support for the effort and investment they have made to give us a wonderful place to socialize safely in Drogheda.

M. M.You need reservations to eat on restaurant's terrace, so we had double deck burgers from the restaurant's van. Our table was dirty,bench as well, food was ok,quality napkins ,staff helpful. We would like to try other elaborate dishes from the menu in the future.

O. M.With Covid-19 restrictions in place, we couldn't get a table on the terrace, but, they had a cooking mobile van in their car park, where you could get burgher, fish and chips, coffee and some other treats.
Burgher was an ordinary, nothing spectacular.
It was a warm sunny day and only 2 tables had umbrella, when everyone tried to stay in the shadow. The tables were also dirty.

T. c. s.Myself and my husband booked a table last night for 5.30. we were told we needed to leave our table at 7.15. which was fine. Everything was excellent until 7.10 when the young lady told us we had to leave in 5mins. I had literally only finished my dessert we asked could we sit somewhere else to have one drink and was refused there were 3 tables free and no one waiting it was such a pity our food wasn't even washed down with a glass of water and after spending €80 we felt very hard done by.

A. E.We had dinner there this Friday night. The food was awesome and so was the cocktail I ordered. The service was brilliant for the first two courses, however on the last course, a big party of 10 people arrived and the service took a decline as they only had one waiter at that stage in the dining room. We sat for ages waiting for someone to take the dessert plates and bring the bill. The party that arrived were also terribly noisy and disruptive, they should have been put in a private room. I would go back as I am keen to try the other feasts on the menu. Good job to the chef
K. K.I had single room which was too small. But hotel in all has an amazing design. It was decorated for decades, it is like some kind of museum of time (building has over 100 years). Very amazing, very pleasure to be there. Must see the inside! Stuff very professional and good quality food/drinks.

Other three starters were very small. Salmon starter was cut so thin you could nearly see true it .Vegetarian main course was had so spice it could not be eaten the chef agreed and one free drink was given to the customer. s. o.This was a comfortable and cosy hotel. It was once a Christian brothers school which is in walking distance to the town. A former teacher from here John Holland created the modern submarine. The staff was lovely the decor was old but great , beautiful paintings on the ceiling. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice and tasty. The only hiccup was, on checking out There was a drink on our bill which we had paid for but they were insistent we didn't and only the barman was on again and remembered that I paid , well it was awkward to say the least.. in all we would return.
S. H.This was possibly visit number 7 . Previous visits were dinner only and stay for Sunday night special. I only live a few miles from Scholars but it is a lovely venue to invite friends to come visit and stay.
Scholars hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the centre of Drogheda in an off street setting with off street parking .
Sunday night special is Dinner for two , bed and great breakfast for 2 , all in for 120 total.
Dinner is 4 course and food is really really tasty.
Breakfast included eggs Florentine on the menu which I had , with orange juice , muesli and fruit and yogurt , copious soda and homemade brown bread and pots of tea.
That kept me going for the day.
It is not at all surprising that the walls of reception are wallpapered with many many awards . From the person who meets you first , possibly at reception , to the servers in the bar and restaurant , all staff , without exception are friendly , helpful and make the whole experience of staying full of pleasure.
While the bedrooms are not the biggest I have slept in the are not cramped , the beds are very comfortable, rooms are ensuite , and have everything including tea/ coffee facility, hairdryer and tv.
After dinner we joined some other people celebrating St Patrick's day in the lounge where an impromptu sing song started up assisted by visitors from the west of Ireland .
The bottom line is that you could easily pay 120 , just for bed and breakfast alone , and feel you got good value , so a four course gourmet top quality meal included makes this really exceptional value which I highly recommend .

L. G.Got an overnight deal with Dealrush that included dinner and breakfast and wine. Room had no floor space but was nice. The hotel is quite old fashioned a lot of random wardrobes and stuff in the halls.
The food was to die for! Despite being a deal it did cost extra which I don't feel should've been, as they went to a lot of effort of "with your deal you can order THIS and NOT THIS", also was a four course meal in the deal and we only received three. I assumed fourth was tea/coffee afterwards but no as I was charged for this.
After all the negative, food was delicious and well worth it. Very relaxed atmosphere, staff whisper instead of talking. Very quiet getaway. Wasn't too hard to find. Really enjoyed myself but at full price I feel it's a bit overpriced because of the small rooms.

M.Waited an hour for meal despite booking table in advance. Roast beef turned out to be a sirloin steak with rubbery Yorkshire puddings and no proper gravy. Steak knives with wooden handles were a disgrace, dishwashed ++.
