Free car parking, narrow entry for the car park.
Coffee van present (January 2022).
No toilets.
Easy to moderate hike: 45mins up 30mins down. Nice sea views
Slightly muddy and steep in parts.

I really enjoyed climbing it. It took me less than an hour to go up and down. If I can do it that means it’s easy enough for everyone to do it.

Nice easy enough walk, steep rocky climb the last section. Very busy at the weekends with a small car park. Wear hiking boots rather than runners if possible, especially if wet, very windy at the top and potentially slippery steep slope when wet, with the wrong footwear you could do your ankle. Lovely views, if a bit crowded.

I jumped off the 133 bus from Dublin at Glenview and started the hike towards N and quill rd to quickly meet the E side trail. It follows the hill direction SW and joins the busy Red Lane main trail not far from the summit. Up to that point the trail is well maintained. From there on and up to the summit, it becomes rocky and needs your full focus. The last 40m in elevation are a rocky steep wall: good shoes and good coordination needed. For an easier approach to that leg I would suggest your left hand side up. Seen plenty of dogs and kids achieving the top, but I would not advise it.
On the way down I turned North on the W side of the hill for the first bit (good enough trail) and then I turned right on the N side of the great sugarloaf (South of the Sugarlump), aiming for Fitzsimons Park in Kilmacanogue: the trail there is not maintained at all (see attached photo), visible but you will have to deal with dry vegetion and poor terrain (some places are steep and grass covered, which on the way down require special attention).
Once in Kilmacanogue it is easy to reach the 133 bus station on the N11.
From the summit, with good weather, you will enjoy amazing views in all directions.

I have always loved the little hike of the sugar loaf. The view of Dublin from the top is spectacular. On a clear day you can see the mountains of Snowdonia in Whales. See my images taken 2 weeks ago. Zoom in to see the Whales mountains.

Great little hike, takes about 1h return if medium fit. Beautiful views on a clear day. Last bit can be tough to climb and come down due to rocks so go slow.
T.
Great hiking experience. Nice views from top. Took us about 25min to reach the top.

Went there today with my son and granddaughter, was quite misty with low cloud but calm and dry. A walk up the Sugar Loaf is great when you don't have lots of time because it doesn't take long and yet it's good exercise. On a clear day the views are spectacular but on any day it's worth it to get out there. Just note that near the top it gets quite rocky so wear good footwear.

Beautiful views, easy, ascent to the top takes less than 30 minutes.

Iconic walk...the views somehow always exceed the height of the hill and the effort to walk up it. Clear day views to Mournes Wales and southeast

Short hike to the top which gradually gets tougher but most would handle it. Bit of a climb at the very top. Great views of Wicklow and Dublin. Can get busy on sunny summer days though.

A quick climb - up to the summit in about 45 minutes. However! ... the last few hundred metres are tough enough, clambering over rocks. Not the easiest climb, but great views if you get there.

Good and easy hike....For a solo or with friends and/or with family ...
Some people bring their dog with them ...

Lovely walk suitable for all ages

Excellent place if you visit very early in the morning and in a dry climate. Do not attempt if it is raining or rained the previous day. I got lucky to see wild horses too. Complete the full circuit as suggested on the map at car park. Do it at a constant pace for maximum effectiveness.

Great walk/climb. More technical than I was expecting but my 7 and 10 year olds did it with ease. They really loved it. Great views from the top. Can be done it around an hour up and down.

Steep incline on the route which we took, great for getting the heart rate up but do please be careful as parts are dangerous.

A stunning view of Dublin Bay. Takes about an hour to climb .from the carpark. Tricky to ascend. Even more challenging descending it because of the loose rocks .overall not too difficult .

It’s a tough walk when you do the Great Sugarloaf Way and add in the climb to the top of the sugarloaf, but the views are spectacular at the top.

Good parking, great hike up the hill, beautiful view.
The only negative thing is that you also see and hear the crying children who are dragged up the unsafe, dangerous path on the mountain by their reckless parents.

It is a beautiful and small mountain of 500 meters high located in the county of Kilmacanogue, about 25 km from Dublin, you can go by car, taxi, or on bus number 181, get off on the route and follow the indications there are in the square near the church Saint Mochonogs, from that sector they are a 3 kilometers walking, it is a light and entertaining hike between the mountain, you can see a beautiful landscape, if the sky is clear, you can see the sea, from the top You can see a spectacular landscape full of green and nature! Be careful on the top that there are loose rocks and can be dangerous, I advise you to wear good hiking shoes! to enjoy!!!

Fabulous views of Dublin and wicklow, loose rocks on way up so wear good hiking shoes.

Beautiful view from the top. Parking is in a handy spot for making the walk up. The last section is very steep but it is so worth it for the view from the tip of the mountain ⛰

Beautiful view's
One hour easy climbing to get the mountain pick

A short fun walk (a little scramble at the top for the last 50m or so). Watch out for the wasps at the summit.

Great views but a some parts its like climbing a wall so they could improve the paths but overall it was fun experience.

Tough climb but we'll worth the view at the top

Around the start of the climb of the Great Sugarloaf are walkways and they are just as interesting and have magical views, I was looking for birds or any wild animal and the walk was peaceful and quite. These walks are under explored and the do end with a great view over Dublin bay and for anyone not able for the mountain climb they offer a great alternative, cheers
J. G.
Great climb and the views when you reach the top are magnificent. Getting to top does require some minor climbing of boulder so keep that in mind, but we'll worth it.
A. O.
Love walking this mountain. Carpark half way up means it's very accessible and only takes an hour or two for the round trip depending on your speed. There is also an alternative route you can take that's not up to the top, although I've never done that one. Mountain is a very manageable walk for most of the way. To get to the very top you cave to clime up, not exactly a rock face, but it's definitely climbing at that point, not walking. It's not exactly mountaineering, but it's not a doddle either. Although children, elderly and dogs are often seen up the very top.

(Translated) Very beautiful place, excellent outdoor activities, lush views of Dublin, bray with its majestic sea views and wicklow mountains with its beautiful slopes with coniferous woods and ancient peat.
There are some routes that take you to the foot of the sugar loaf mountain,
Leaving the center of O'Connell st, Dublin.
The Dublin bus, 7 - 7a, point number (4725), which goes to dun laoghaire the point number is (2040) and then take the Dublin bus 45a which goes to point number (6000), bus 45a end point, kilmacanogue, rock valley which is at the foot of the sugar loaf mountain.
Or take the Dublin bus 145 which is direct, which point number (334) Near Riverbar, this bus goes straight to kilmacanogue, Rock valley, which is at the foot of the mountain,
Once there were several trails that lead to the top of the mountain some difficult, some more and one more facies, the easiest is the back of the mountain, in the parking lot of sugar loaf.
Enjoy and enjoy the scenery.
