This was the best place we have been in a long time. Myself and my husband dined here Saturday night. Soo good the food, the ambiance, the staff.just ticked all the boxed. The quality of the food for the price is just amazing. We will be back.

Five starts out of five from every perspective: food, service, the decor and atmosphere. Really welcoming staff making you feel at home, and the food is excellent. We ordered a soup, Killarney mussels, and pastas. They have excellent bread made by themselves. They have a type of bread that I particularly like, with nuts in them, looks heavy, but actually tastes really light. It comes with the soup. You can also buy bread from them to take away. The tea is lovely too and comes with their own bake treat. I’ll definitely go back to this place again.

Delightful food. We went to this place without a reservation and they gave us space at the bar. The staff was wonderful they make sure we were satisfied with the food. They present plenty of options, I tried the Fish (hake) was amazing, so rich in flavour. Recommended!

Top end gastro pub with pleasant and helpful staff and a beautiful pint of Guinness. Make a reservation as it's understandably hugely popular. Lots of fresh and local Irish produce in the ingredients.

My girlfriend and I were just stopping off for a quick but late bite and wanted something nice in a decent pub but still quick as we had to keep driving to Donegal and big too expensive. We got that and more. I had a steak sandwich (something I normally never get as I am not a huge fan) and she had the burger. To say we were both impressed is an understatement, the desert was incredible, it was all so delicious, good portions sizes and very reasonable prices, main, desert and drinks for 2 for around €45. The staff were lovely and attentive even though the place was packed and they were under pressure due to bookings coming in early. We will be back for sure

Great meal and waitress was so helpful & friendly. We had a variety of lovely home made bread with different butters before we had our two course meal. The waitress even brought us some more as we really enjoyed it. Different menus so a good choice to suit everyone. Good service, food is tasty and staff look after you well.

Their resident guitarist is worth his weight in gold as he plays all the classics in a manner that grabs your attention when he plays an old favourite but never drowns out conversation. On our visit, we both had sea trout. Nothing short of exceptional. A little busy while we we were there, but that didn't affect the service. Would love to go again at a quieter time and sample some more of the menu. Bear in mind, they don't open on Sunday or Monday. Super.

The Oarsmen is an excellent gastro pub. We had lunch again there last week on my trip home and really enjoyed it. Service is superb and genuinely friendly. Excellent quality foodstuffs. Guinness really good. When back in Milan, I even called them to ask about a vinaigrette we had with our lunch, and they very kindly detailed the ingredients and procedure. Totally recommended!

This is a top notch Gastro Pub restaurant, and has won a host of awards. Food and service are impeccable, and the prices are very reasonable. It also offers an impressive range of craft beers. It's advisable to book for dinner though, as The Oarsman is hugely popular with tourists and locals alike.

Very quaint and nicely decorated nautical themed restaurant on a charming old street near the water. The seafood bisque was one of the best I've ever had. Ironically, they did not serve fish 'n chips.

What can I say about the Oarsman??? We had the most delicious lunch here and nothing disappointed us. The atmosphere in this establishment is something you notice straight away and there's a real feeling of welcome and such a good vibe. It's an olde Worlde pub that simply does great food. Their desserts are scrumptious. I had a pear and almond tart. ( lovely combination ) and the pastry was superb. Whoever the chef is knows what's what so you should hold on to him or her. The flavours in our main meal were delicious. Definitely best restaurant in Carrick on Shannon and we tried MANY. Keep up the good work. Don't miss out on this great Restaurant.👍

Really good food and nice staff but let down by the prices (pretty excessive for a country pub). If you are coming on a weekend then booking is pretty essential as they don't have many covers. High point was the veggie dishes which were really well done.

Outstanding gastropub meal. I had a succulent roast chicken served with "al dente" vegetables and a divine parsley Hollandaise sauce! My wife had a rich and creamy chowder with smoked haddock, mussels and other seafood. And my son enjoyed a pasta dish with white wine and cream sauce with "Toulouse style" sausages and red peppers. Too good! And then a rhubarb crumble fell to the ground...

We had the most enjoyable dinner here. From the welcome on arrival, to the end of the meal we were made to feel comfortable and very well served throughout.
