We, 4 adults and 2 teenagers, had dinner in Bar One and we were blown away with both the welcome and the food. Everything was spot on, delicious food, great service, friendly chatty staff who were equally delighted to get back to work as we were to support them. Highly recommend this restaurant and looking forward to our next trip 😀

Nice spot for a quick bite. Quite busy, but nice atmosphere. We walked in & couldn't get a table, as they were all reserved, so we took seats at the bar. We ordered a large wings & a burger to share. Food came incredibly fast & was very tasty. Staff were very friendly too.

I have fond memories here of excellent bar service, a wonderful chicken dinner, and a phenomenal appetizer cheese plate. Our server, can't recall his name in English but he said it meant "Baby Dear" as Gaelige, was top-notch.

Will definitely book it again the next time I'm in Castlebar. The best gastro pub/restaurant in the town - they deserved all the awards they continue to bag at Bar One!

Had a family meal for 13 people. We were accomodaded with a late booking. Staff very friendly and service was excellent. Food was excellent for the most part. One Steak meal had to be replated and when returned it was overdone. Chicken wings overdone. All other orders were perfect. Would return again. Great place. Great location.

Wow.....3 adults & 2 kids....as soon as we walked in it was like we had the manager & own personal waiter.....came straight down with animated paper & crayons, got the kids settled for us & then looked after us. I don't go out often, but when I do Bar One is one of my favourite restaurants. My most recent outing was no exception I went for a Christmas lunch, and as usual, the food was beautifully done, and everyone had a fantastic time.

Great spot the Waiter who looked after us from upminster London was a star....tho the first waitress I met was horrendously rude...It was my 40th and my wife had booked bar One on its reputation as we entered there were 40th balloons on the table and I Jokingly asked the waitress to remove as no 40 year old wants to see there age...She snapped NO and told me her staff had spent along time arranging table....But aside from her rudeness it was a great spot food amazing and my friend still talks about his blue steak being one of the best if it wasn't for my first interaction it would have been 5 stars....thank you to all the other staff who made my night fabulius

On the road between Donegal and Connemara, a little random stop in this town and a pleasant surprise. We followed the opinions of Internet users to go for lunch at Bar One on the main thoroughfare. Quite classy on the outside, the decor is relaxed and modern on the inside... we are in the spirit of the "gastro pub" far from the typical Irish pubs. But it's worth it for a simple reason: the welcome is super pleasant, the dishes are good and well prepared (soups, salads, sandwiches), and they don't overwhelm us in terms of price. For a light lunch, we do very well (15€ per person).

Attended this evening with 3 kids. It was perfect because the busy bustling of the bar drowned out their noise. The waiters were on the ball, attentive and great with the kids. Kids loved the pizza. I had Seabass cooked perfectly. Excellent range of gluten and dairy free options. The star for me was the chocolate torte with raspberry sorbet.

Lovely food, nice staff. It was very noisy. Hard to have any kind of conversation without yelling. Need some acoustic baffling on the ceiling to help stop the noise bouncing around. The booth style seats are waaay too low for the tables. Felt like a toddler who can barely see over the table.

This place is fantastic and gets busy real quick. Highly recommend booking and come as soon as the doors open. Of all the gastro pubs in Castlebar, this one is in the top 2. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out. The food and service here is fantastic. What we really loved about the place was ... Well pretty much everything. From the decor to the service to the food. The only slight criticism I have, which I do feel borderline about, for a number of reasons, is my steak was slightly expensive. Oh yes, and for some strange reason it's not open on Sundays. However I still cannot praise this place enough. From the warm welcome, to the excellent customer resolution, every part of the service is well represented on the walls. We had a slight chip in the wine glass, we brought it to their attention and without fuss, they fixed the problem, with deep apologies and smiles all round. It was such a minor issue easily missed, but handled perfectly, which really speaks volumes of the place. Wifey ordered the duck confit, not something I would normally consider. Duck tends to be powerful and greasy. But this was cooked perfectly, even the crispy skin was excellent. I was surprised, and wifey loved this. Especially the gravy, which seemed to be orange flavoured. Wifey thought it was infused with a Yorkshire relish sauce. Very tasty but couldn't put my finger on it, it reminded me of a balsamic and shallots gravy having a slight tang to it. Wifey is not normally fond of champ, but this one changed her mind. She loved it, I loved it, it was creamy, with nice little bites. I loved my ribeye steak and black tiger prawns. The vegetables added a nice greenness to the plate, lined up well and making it very pleasing to the eye. I love the vegetables broccoli... snowpeas and bak choi reminded me of Hong Kong. I didn't like the chips, just personal preference, so I wish I had ordered the champ instead. The pepper corn sauce was morish with a strong peppery kick. Cannot wait to come back and try more dishes on the menu. Next time we come back really hungry so we can have a starter too... Perhaps desert. Wifey and Hubby definitely recommend. And will be going back for more.

This is an amazing bar restaurant. It is beautifully presented with a fresh exterior. Inside is just as fresh and spacious. The staff here are amongst the best I've ever seen and the owner is a gentleman, friendly without being in your face, professional and courteous. The menu is varied with something for everyone and if the menu doesn't suit you, the specials board will. The service is quick and efficient. My order was taken quickly and my drink arrived almost instantly. I had the "Made in Mayo" pizza aa I was Carb loading for a half marathon at the weekend. It was the nicest pizza that I've EVER eaten. I was full without being stuffed. I then had warm apple crumble, with ice cream and warm custard ( creme anglaise) on the side Again it was delicious and a generous portion. With coffee ☕️ to finish and two soft drinks , the total cost was €33. To my way of thinking, that was good value for a very nice meal in a restaurant with a great ambience. I will be recommending Caddens Bar One in Castlebar for a long time ahead. Well done to the team there.

Ordered the fish with butter sauce as their special. For nearly 24 euro to get a bland piece of fish on broccoli and green beans wasn't too great, it also came with a small dish of baby potatoes. Experience was okay but probably wouldn't be the first place I'd go back to.
