I think it would be difficult to find a more characteristic pub than this anywhere in the world. Frequented by very friendly locals, where it is very easy to start chatting with them, but the real challenge is to understand something of their speech! Stand at the counter on the ground floor. Unmissable.

Fantastically small, but such a large presence. The bar keep (Miles) was fantastic and very knowledgeable of the bars' history, and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. When you come in, you definitely have to walk around and look throughout the building. This is a historical building, and the love and care for it is impressive. Thank you for such a fun night. We will definitely be back.

What a great place! The owner was super personable and interesting. We visited from the Us and did it k ow a whole lot about Ireland and let me tell you, he and some other Irish gentlemen had plenty of history to share. It was a LOT of fun! 10 out of 10 recommend!

Our experience was SUPER. Michael is a very pleasant host....we truly had a unique surprising evening. We had the pleasure of listening and interacting with "Wrong Direction" , a local duet from Kilkenny who provided a true memorial evening. It was a blast.

Beautifully bonkers place. Visit each year for gigs at Kilkenomics as they have a tiny upstairs venue. Oh. Cash only. Be aware.

A unique bar, very few bars like it so drop in for a drink and a chat. Very welcoming bar where chatting with strangers is encouraged. Bring cash and enjoy the medieval setting

Very cool place with great staff and drinks! If coming for your first time, it can be a little tricky to find (if using GPS, look down the alley for their sign). If I were a local this would definitely be a regular visit to have a drink and chill. (Also has live music some days of the week.)

What a blast I had at this place! It's no nonsense and to the point. Our bartender was quick with a drink and an opinion which made for some spirited conversations with the other patrons. Hit this place if you're in town. I hear the music venue here is great, but there were none the night we attended.

Don't mind the manipulative review of Rebecca Heacox, she is off her head. This bar has no need of beer mats, as the pints themselves are heavenly and incapable of marring the great oaken tables within. The staff might not all be local, Rebecca, the Hole in the Wall do not subscribe to your outdated ethno-nationalist visions of racually pure Gaelic bar wenches, hefty-haunched, bejaysus and begorraging, sorrowful mysteries and siege of Ennis at the crossroads. They also have crisps.
