Beautiful restaurant and setting, Amazing food and brilliant staff!! There is a wide selection on the menu, including for vegetarians. It was my mum's birthday and the staff made it extra special for her, by bringing out her desert with a candle whilst singing - without being a request. We didn't order starters as we just wanted mains & desert but the staff kindly gave us appetizers on the house. Would highly recommend :)

The mixed platter for starters was savage, what a mix of flavours and as the waiter said put them all together for a taste explosion, I would go back just for that starter. My main the fish Casserole was unreal too, great flavour and nice lumps of fish in it. Great restaurant.

No covid checks. A brief glance at our cert that was not checked against ID. I could have flashed a yellow square of paper for all the good it did. The good: Nice decor. Friendly staff. Good varied menu. Food presentation. The bad: High prices. Steak (ribeye) was a ball of sinew and a poor cut of meat. Starters were good, but almost all the table mentioned a lack of flavour or seasoning on mains. I'd exchange the presentation for more flavour.

I visited Bacchus for a company dinner so we dined as a large group. Service was a bit slow in the beginning as they had other diners to attend to. I ordered the beetroot soup, steak and tiramisu. The soup was a little bland but at least it came with garlic bread. The steak was a lot larger than expected but the taste was OK, nothing to rave about. Tiramisu was good, not overly sweet with good texture.

Lovely modern restaurant overlooking the river, right in the centre of Athlone. Must be lovely in summer on the balcony tables right over the water. Decor was modern. Food was good - particularly the speciality dish (whose name I've forgotten) but think it was speciality wedding food with either chicken, pork or both - lovely dish. A good and fair priced wine list. The Maitre D was a lovely Ukrainian woman who couldn't do enough for us and really spoilt the kids. Early bird menu was good value - perhaps a little on the expensive side a la carte though. Overall a lovely dining experience.

The food was beautiful. Starter was a lovely tiger prawn dish followed by a seafood casserole. The staff were very professional and attentive and we were moved to a seat looking out on the shannon which had a beautiful view even if the weather was not nice. We will be back.

had a wonderful experience in this restaurant. I arrived on a busy Friday night without having a table reserved. the waitress went out of her way to accommodate us and fitted us in within minutes she was so friendly. the food was top class and prepare from scratch. the ingredients were all fresh and the flavours unbelievable. i could not fault anything. the other waiting staff were also very friendly. the location is perfect and restaurant very clean and tidy. I would highly recommend everything about this establishment and would return to visit this restaurant again.

Great selection on menu- early bird until 7 even on a Saturday- great value! There was 8 of us and all our different starters and mains were delicious. There was also no service charge on groups which was really unusual. Great service and would go back again

What a lovely dinner! We shared the Turkish sausage as a starter, my wife had the herb chicken main and I had the pork medallions. All the food was so fragrant, fresh and delicious! Portions were very generous and very satisfying. Can't wait to eat the leftovers! We really enjoyed the chocolate cake and coffee as well. Service was impeccable and very friendly / attentive without being intrusive (a difficult balance to strike.) Kudos! If we are in the area again, we will definitely eat at Bacchus again.

We sat in a window seat and watched the sun set over the Shannon, which added to the pleasure of the shared vegetarian meze starter and Turkish Pide pizzas. The Pide are really good, but they are large and we were told that maybe only 3 in 10 people manage to finish them if they've had a starter (we were told this after we failed to finish them!) Take away boxes are provided! We really enjoyed the food and the staff were very friendly.
