D.Myself and my partner have been a fan of Mimosa for quite sometime, we travelled from Cork for the first time to eat out in our favourite tapas bar since 2019, and our first meal indoors this year . As per usual, the food, drinks and atmosphere were excellent. However, for the first time ever the service had let us down. At the door we were greeted by a lovely lady, and another showed us to our seats. Our server for the night however, let us down greatly. The dark haired young lady was very brunt and loud initially. After placing our order we saw very little of her, we were left with no cutlery until our food was already put and another server had tended to us. she came back about an hour later and left another tables dirty plates on our table! Thankfully another waitress was very helpful and cleared our table, as well as bringing us desert menus and topping up our dry glasses! When we asked for the bill we were left with a long wait and then another long wait before our payment was taken. If the restaurant was extremely busy I could understand, but at this time there weren’t many patrons indoors.
But yet again, we had a very pleasant experience with all other members of staff, many with the brightest smiles beneath their masks!
M. F.I've been a fan since first eating here 6 years ago but this is my first time there since Covid started. As usual the service was excellent and I was pleasantly surprised at the number of gluten free options on the menu. Really excellent tapas but, unfortunately the gluten free options were very salty. But, you have to try the baby pork ribs, the best around. Covid protocols fully observed which was great to see. Will definitely be back. Great value too.

A. S.Very good place to visit. If you are fan of sharing a food and to try lots of well made tapas this is the place where you should go. We waited 1h for a table in waiting room enjoing coctails. After when we got the table we ordered 10 different tapas. All of them were so tasty and nice served. We really enjoyed the night in Mimosa and will go over there again for sure. The girls are very nice and friendly. Atmosphere is cool and relaxing too. Really happy with our visit.

J. F.Really loved this place when we went there last summer when I was entertaining some guests. Had a table in the garden and the food and service was excellent. Unfortunately, I've had to deduct a star because I recently ordered a take away and I'm afraid the food doesn't travel as well as actually being there. It won't stop me going back there though. I'll update this review once I'm able to have a dining in experience which these guys are very good with.
UPDATE: Managed to get a table booked at the restaurant last night and as I suspected, the quality and service was absolutely amazing. Great job guys can't wait to see you again :-)

If you're waiting on your table, they have an amazing speak easy type bar at the side for some cocktails and other drinks. If you're ordering the kangaroo be prepared to wait, I think they head to Australia to get it!

Their dining areas are beautifully decorated with cosy nooks and soft lighting. Their patio & garden are also a perfect setting for your dining experience.
Their menu is Tapas inspired with some creative Asian and other cuisine infusions. We ordered 7 different dishes, each one presented impeccably and all were delicious.
Our Portugese server Elder was very friendly, efficient & attentive. He's a great ambassador for Mimosa's business.
I would encourage the owners to have one or two draft beers available, perhaps one Spanish brand.
We look forward to enjoying Mimosa again very soon.

On the merits of its food alone , the place is in a league of its own. Tapas to die for. But its much more than good food that makes Mimosa. Staff are warm , welcoming and very customer focused. The setting and decor is uniquely fitting with Mediterranean feel. Wine always hits the spot with great selection of excellent wines. All in all , if your in Carlow and fancy something different then give Mimosa a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed

J. H.Nice food, downside is they won't take a booking for less than 6 people. So you book through an app and wait.. I understand its supposed to create some allure or idea of exclusivity but the food/service isn't good enough to warrant it. Waitress forgot an item from our order and wait times between servings were verging on silly, multiple times we found ourselves looking around going.. "Really? This isnt the only thing we want to do tonight." and because the waitress forgot the last item we were sitting basically waiting on nothing for like 15-20 minutes before I asked where our last item was..
Food was nice, desserts were actualy amazing its an interesting experience and nice atmosphere that's why I rated it 3 stars rather than 2. But the silly booking proccess long wait between dishes and the mistake on behalf of the waitress just mean I most likely won't be back.

From the minute you walk in, you feel like you are part of the Mimosa family as the staff are so friendly and professional. The variety of tapas are exceptional whether you are a meat, fish or vegetarian lover. You feel like you're on holidays and want to stay for the night. Delicious cocktails, exceptional selection of wines and non alcoholic drinks. A definite must for any food lover.

It's great quality for money. The decor is tasteful, the overall ambiance is great. There are numerous vegetarian options on the menu and vegan on request. The portions are rather big with everything being extremely flavoursome. I couldn't recommend this place any more!

The food was of top quality and prices are very good, the decor and ambiance creates a sence of peace and luxury like you are taken into a dream where you can forget about the issues of the day and week...probably why I was there till ealry hours of the morning.

C. S.My wife and I were quite disappointed with our experience at Mimosa Bar de Tapas. Call ahead to put your name on the waiting list. Not a bad system. It replaces reservations and they text you when your table is ready. There is a good drink menu as well. The negative elements of the restaurant include noise, customer service, and food quality. It is a small restaurant with many tables cramped in. At a peak dinner time, it was loud. Waiting staff seemed to be working to rotate customers. Our waiter sid he would get us some more bread, but he never returned. We had to use another waiter. A third waiter brought us the bill. We had six plates between the two of us. None was real bad, but nothing was great. The best plate was the olive tapenade, which is a starter. We most likely will not be returning

G. F.This restaurant unless you know it, is hidden down a narrow one-way street across from the cathedral.
We arrived without a reservation for the early bird menu, available from 5pm till 7pm (Mon and Tue closed) and had to wait in the lounge/bar with a relaxed drink until a table became available which took about 30 minutes. There are no draught beers, only bottles or a can of Guinness. Plenty of choices for wine and spirits.
For the early bird you choose from the menu two €6 tapas dishes plus one €6 glass of wine for €15.
We had...
1. Patatas Bravas (w' Smoked Paprika Dip).
Deep fried crispy potato cubes. Didn't get the smokey taste from the dip, it was more creamy.
2. Miso Glased Chicken (Chargrilled w' Fruity Couscous).
Two pieces of chicken on a bed of couscous with crispy skin.
3. Arancini (Fried Risotto balls w' Pesto & Mozzarella).
Two deep fried crispy soft center balls with very tasty sauce.
4. Irish Dexter Beef Mini Burger (w' Aussie Style Sauce & Melted Cheese).
Flat bread were used for the buns. One of the party found it too meaty of a taste. There were also slices of beetroot which gave a nice texture to the burger.
5. Kangaroo & Mushroom Skewers (w' Read Wine & Juniper Berry Sauce).
The kangaroo was a little chewy but nice. The sauce was very tangy right into your throat.
6. Tempura Prawns (w' Chilli Soy Dip).
Five prawns in a light batter with a lovely soy dip.
7. Creamy Hummus (w' Toasted Rosemary Flatbread & Chilli Oil).
The hummus was tasteless. Even though the chilli oil was there we could not taste it.
The drinks were two glasses of white and one red wine with a carafe of table water.
The lounge/bar in a separate building was very relaxed and comfortable to have a pre-dinner drink.
The restaurant was very busy and the seating is quite tight but we didn't feel that we could hear the conversation beside us.
The staff were all vey friendly and always made sure our water was topped up and empty dishes were cleared away.
This was definitely a relaxed experience. The dishes came individually which gave us time to enjoy each one. There was no pressure to vacate the table.
The 2 toilets are unisex and were clean.

A. L.I absolutely love this restaurant. Bookings are not taken but use the Wait List option on their website to secure a table at your preferred time even though this cannot be guaranteed. It is a really popular restaurant at the weekend so make sure to get your name on the list early. Every dish is super but I highly recommend the beef shortrib, piri piri prawns, Clonakilty black pudding and the kangaroo. The Baked Alaska is also to die for!

They have had problems before with taking small books which have now be rectified now.

S.I’m not usually one for writing reviews but mimosa is the exception from start to finish absolutely beautiful the food is so good,very friendly helpful service It’s a must try if ever in Carlow.
M. O. S.Had the goats cheese and apple crostini,the beef sliders,the pork belly, chicken wings, and the lamb lasagna.
The best were the goats cheese and apple. It was served with a balsamic vinaigrette that made your mouth water as it was simultaneously being coated with warm goats cheese.
The churrios with selection of toffee and chocolate sause was also crunchy and soft, perfect for two.
