On arrival we were greeted and seated by the friendliest waiter I have ever met, he seemed to genuinely like his job, he talked us through the menu and specials in a way that made us want to order everything. The food here was amazing, probably the best steak I have ever had. Great food, lovely atmosphere and all for a reasonable price. The food alone is worth a visit but what really makes it special is the staff, the pride that they take in their produce is fantastic, each staff member was excited about what they were serving and genuinely thrilled that we enjoyed the food they that clearly and deservedly stand behind. This is what a dining experience should be.

You can tell everyone in the place gets along and know what they’re talking about from their in house beers to their flame roasted main dishes. There are some nice fine dining touches in a place you can also appreciate as a cosy environment. Good music, open flames, great food. We’ll be back.

A. I.This place is STELLAR!!! They are mostly known for their meat options but I found they had great vegetarian options too. I only had their beetroot starter and it was the best beetroot I've ever had. They bbq'ed it and not only was it the best beetroot, it was also the best vegetarian bacon immigration I've ever tasted! They also have craft beer flight tasting which is pretty rare! I can't wait to go back.
m. r.Very impressed with our first visit. My wife and I had dinner here on Sunday evening, with our son and his girlfriend, they had Benn here a few times. Table service was excellent, we ordered 2 Tbone and 2 ribeye steaks, which came exactly as we liked them. The fries were the nicest I've had in a long time, and overall, and very enjoyable meal. Don't take my word for it, go, try, enjoy....

But I enjoyed the experience and would return again.
M. R.It was fine. Like the food was well prepared. But there were a few things that weren't to my own personal preference (others might find it good so this is just a personal opinion).
First off, the cutlery and crockery is a bit off. The plates are glossy shiny plates straight out of an 80's Irish hotel. When you try to cut the sausages (with the plain butter knife they give you) the plates will screech. I also had to ask for a sharper knife for my steak. Which they provided without question - perfectly good service by the way - but a simple steak knife would have been better I think.
I had the t-bone which was cooked well but there was an aftertaste that I wasn't a fan of. Presumably the smokey butter they add. Might be to other people's taste but not mine. The pepper sauce gratin was a bit meh to be honest and the creamed mustard greens could have been creamier I thought. The chips are top notch though and the ribs not too bad (though again, not something I'd be in a rush to try again).
Overall, I felt that it's overpriced. The food is fine but not stellar for my tastes. Service was very good but paying a fiver for each side is a bit cheeky and 28 euro for the T-bone was too expensive for what we got.

J. W.Atmosphere and ambience is comfortable. Staff attitude is welcoming and warm. Ate a few times, and food is generally excellent. Would avoid the ribs though, they're smoky to the point that's almost all you can taste.

Sitting at the bar being able to talk to the staff is always a favourite for me and this was no exception; professional, kind and passionate staff. The food was delicious! I don't eat steak often these days but was so glad I did, so tender and flavoursome, highly recommend the rib eye! We also had starters, dessert (delicious chocolate mousse) and drinks and I can't fault a thing. Great value as well for the quality and experience compared to many other places we've eaten in Ireland and UK. It's a small venue so I recommend going early or if you have to wait, it will be worth it

T. (.Oh, Elbow Lane ... My heart is so divided; It is almost faultless. I like meat and Elbow Lane - SmokeHouse - seemed like the perfect place to eat. First night: great, I loved and rarely ate such good meat and the rest of the meal was in the same vein. Second meal, no complaints, except that the restaurant is starting to be my favorite in Cork, a must.
- Intimate place, subdued lighting and little table making the restaurant suitable for an appointment.
- Meat grilled in the flame with the cook who cooks in front of you (excellent)
- Homemade beer, very good (we can see the brewery in the background)
But then, why this disappointment? Because we have never been able to go back there; the establishment refuses reservations and on Fridays and Saturdays it is necessary to wait at least 3/4 of the hours to eat (sometimes 1:30).
If you like to wait, I recommend this restaurant, but for me it loses a star because of it.

R. P.It is probably the best food I had during my road trip in Ireland. They are very precise, they care about small details and have fresh products. This implies that the food you will get will be delicious. We tried meat and fish and they were both amazing. The atmosphere is also nice and and the staff is friendly and very competent.
G. S.This place is awesome. I’m a Texan, a former Memphian, a meat smoker, so I know a lot about smoking and BBQ. This place is DELICIOUS. Do not miss this place while you are in Cork. The ribs were great, the mushrooms were phenomenal, the cauliflower was incredible (didn’t know you could make cauliflower taste that good), and the beers were tasty.

Really friendly and knowledgeable staff who are clearly passionate about food and drink; I was talked through all their meats and own-brewed beers thoroughly and eventually opted for a ribeye steak which was wonderfully smoked and perfectly done. The sides were amazing, and the red ale was so, so good.
Being as I was visiting Cork on business, I was dining alone and the ability to sit at the bar to eat was such a welcome option - it really opens up the social side of dining when you're on your own.
Definitely one of the most pleasant solo dinners I've ever had, and I'll be sure to go back if I find myself in Cork again!

Meat is smoked in the restaurant on a very smart fireplace which you can see from every table.

It's hard to get a place - they don't take reservation. No more than 24 seats in the whole restaurant.
Also it seems that cannot accomodate groups larger than 4 people.

Had one of the best meals here recently from juicy jerk prawns with smoked tomato that perfectly combined fiery flavours with sweetness to terrific tempeh, amazing artichoke, fab rarebit cauliflower and a delectable malt custard tart dessert and excellent beers! Service was exemplary, attentive, friendly and perfectly paced. And of course, the stars of the night, two wonderful young chefs who never stopped working for a second and treated us to a meal that sets a new standard that will be very difficult to top! For the mains, we had the pork and the ribeye. It was so tender and we definitely loved it. We also had the cauliflower and that was just beautiful.
Service was great as well - friendly and non-intrusive. It worked out to be about €93 for 2 rounds of cocktails, 2 mains and a side. We will definitely be back.
Due to the pandemic, reservations are highly recommended since they were fully booked on a Thursday.
E.I love the food here, it always smells and tastes delicious and is presented beautifully. The only issue I have is deciding what to have, the brunch menu has something for all tastes as does the dinner menu. I would happily eat here every day if I won the lotto!
As a bonus, the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, polite and respectful, with an impeccable attention to detail which makes every visit here unique.

It started with a warm enthusiastic welcome and developed into a very memorable evening. The passion was evident from our server through to the open kitchen. Having started with the brisket roll which was delicious we decided on sirloins. They were tender flavoursome and promptly served. The recommend wine was cleverly paired.

Definitely advisable to either book in advance or call in at the start of a night in order to establish when you'll be able to get a table. Once seated you'll understand why.
The atmosphere is lively and vibrant yet not over the top for somewhere you're going to be eating.
The staff are friendly, attentive and above all; passionate about what they do. We were served by Julia who certainly was all of the above.
There's an excellent selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from whilst perusing the menu.
The food on offer does an amazing job of fusing the food that cork is traditionally famous for with a good modern smoke house. Local seafood and ox tongue are amongst other items on the menu that are prepared in a way that will honestly give the modern foodie pause for thought. The ribs were tender, full of flavour and had a great smoke ring visible within the meat. The sides complimented the mains in a fantastic way.
Give it a go, you'll be more than happy and will definitely want to return!
R. D.Warm cosy atmosphere. The restaurant doesn't take bookings and we were lucky to get a table on a Friday evening. Service was first rate: unsure which wine to order, the waitress brought me a couple of glasses to sample. I had the T-bone steak - always nice to see on a menu - and my wife had the fish of the day, a whole sea bass. Both were delicious, although both suffered slightly from heavy seasoning. The restaurant is proud of its home made mix of spices, but it was overly salty for my taste, and my side of chips (fries) suffered a similar fate. The side of caramelized onions was suitably gooey but I would skip the side of cabbage and duck bacon. Desserts were nice, nothing extraordinary and a bit over priced. Would go again, for sure, after sampling something else of what Cork has to offer.

Everything was awesome, cooked on wooden fire.

F. M.My favourite restaurant in Cork city. The menu is limited but the food is fantastic, with all of their ingredients sourced locally. The beef brisket starter is a stand-out. They have excellent beers brewed in house. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful It's small (seats approx 26) and doesn't take bookings so get in early and put your name on the waiting list (pop to Meade's across the road for a glass of wine). You won't be disappointed.

First we were met at the door by a lovely chap who told us straight up that we wouldn't be seated till half 8-9. I said that's fine and they took my number to let me know when the table was ready. We headed back at half 8ish and table was just getting cleared up as said they would. He greeted us again and room our coats which was a first for us. Already great service.
We were brought to a nice table in the back. Limited seating available makes the place feel very exclusive and homely. Same can be said for the menu. Quite small. All fits onto one page.
A server came to us with means and also a small plated of seasoned roar peas. Very nice appetizer. Went down too quickly with 4 of us.
We were then greeted by our server for the night called Steph. Lovely personality, very bubly, knew what she was talking about when it came to the menu. We had questions about the difference between the rib eye, tbone, and serloin .
She came back once we were ready and mentioned to make it easier there is only Ron eye and tbone. She recommended how it should be had which is medium rare. I have my order for rib eye but after she left I wanted it changed and that was no problem for them.
When we got our food we were very impressed. My Tbone steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare as were my friends rib eye.
Our other friend for an entire pig of ribs. Amazing portions. The steak didn't come with sides. Have to be ordered separately. Didn't come with any sauce either and that's because IT DOESN'T NEED ANY. It's so well seasoned and render you don't need or want any sauce with it. I got mushrooms for side and was beautiful with the steak. Eventually we finished, they took our plated and we received hot towels. Amazing touch to an awesome dinner. Very refreshed. Then finished our night with the tart and the mouse ice cream. Very light way to finish the evening. Price may be expensive, but the reason is amazing food and amazing service. Top class. Worth the wait.

H.Totally brilliant, starters, pork loin and mussels, incredible, my partner is Asian and he said that the mussels reminded him of home! Nice and Herby. Pork loin was moist and the sauce was the perfect accompaniment.
The steaks, t-bone and ribeye, were perfectly cooked and well seasoned and the desserts, were also really good, I would recommend the Panna cotta.
The best thing though was the service, the girl at the bar who served us was incredible, really knew her stuff and couldn't have been more friendly, thanks!

The place is always busy but we had to keep attemptung to get the waiters attention so we could order desert and then again to get the bill.
For the price of the food, i would expect larger portion sizes.

A. O.If you are looking for a tasty steak, this is the place like nowhere else in Cork. On top of this nice coctails, tasty starters and side dishes, lovely coctails served in rather interesting glasses or other containers, very friendly staff. Nice and cosy place.
One word of caution, this place is not very big and it is rather popular. There are no bookings in advance, so you can pop in there on the day (usually they open at 5pm) 1-2 hours prior if you kniw that it is Friday night and it is busy, finish all your business in the city and come back for the meal. However, if we are talking about workday evening, there are usually one or two tables and we had to wait about 30minutes.

Everything from the proper greeting at the door, to the music (Rick James & the Temptations to Otis Redding) to the warm towel at the end of the meal was spot on. Some may say it's a bit expensive, but I didn't think so, and you get what you pay for. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

N. B.Really liked this place very inovative, good choice of foods and styles of cooking all in full view of the customers. Crammed so much into a tiny area. Everybody seems to muck in to make your visit a seemless experience almost theatre, The star of the show is Cian with his hundred miles an hour delivery, his in depth explanations of dishes, his extensive knowledge of Ales and food matching. J. R.I must say, I enjoyed it here immensely. Happened to be visiting Cork and Elbow Lane were included in a recent NYT write-up of the City. The beer was solid – not necessarily anything that stood out in comparison to US microbrews, but it is exciting to see a burgeoning microbrewery scene in Ireland that for too long has been dominated by Guinness, macro-Lagers (e.g. Harp, et. al.) and other large scale operations. The food, however, was absolutely delicious. Locally sourced food, cooked over an open flame that was being feed Irish ash, it was quite good. I ordered the Brisket Roll as a starter, and an Irish Ribeye (which was underdone, but quickly amended). Would highly recommend. It's rather small, so best to order early or make a booking (if they offer it).

I'm fussy about my steak but this was the best tasting steak I can remember having. Service was excellent, professional but very genuine. None of this posh heartless Michelin star malarkey. In house ales were o.k but the cocktails were superb. Whiskey sours for me! Start to finish from the getting at the door to the bar man, to the end of the night the team were fantastic. If your in Cork and you want a nice intimate meal and smokehouses are your thing and you like cocktails then this is the place to be. Get in early, get a time for a table and you will not be sorry. It's priced well for the city but who cares about price when it's this good. You can't put a price on a good experience and service. I will definitely be back in the future.

Small but nice. Had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but it was worth something. The waitress put us on the waiting list with phone number. We went to a pub next door for a drink and she called us, that our table is now free. I find a very cool solution. Had 2 grilled steaks and pointed beer from the in-house brewery. The chef can be seen as the steaks are grilled and then immediately prepared with full dedication. A great evening in cork.

Klein aber fein. Mussten ca 30 Minuten auf einen Tisch warten, war es aber so was von wert. Die Kellnerin setzte uns auf die Warteliste mit Telefonnummer. Wir gingen noch in ein Pub nebenan auf ein Getränk und schon hat sie uns angerufen, dass unser Tisch jetzt frei ist. Finde ich eine sehr coole Lösung. Hatten 2 auf den Punkt gegrillte Steaks und spitzen Bier von der hauseigenen Brauerei. Dem Koch kann man zusehen wie die Steaks gegrillt werden und dann gleich mit voller Hingabe angerichtet werden. Ein toller Abend in cork.

En me basant sur le classement Trip advisor, ma femme et moi avions décidé pour notre dernier resto sur Cork de tester le numéro 1 et quelle surprise lorsque nos papilles ont validé la note donnée par les avis.
La déco se cherche encore mais dans ce lieu éclairé à la bougie, ambiance assez romantique sauf que la musique est très présente dans ce resto tout en long et avec peu de places.
Réservation recommandée même si nous nous sommes pointés comme des fleurs.
Mais pour revenir à l'assiette, le plus important, nous avions pu goûter le SirLion et ça vaut vraiment le détour.
Cuisson respectée, gros morceau de viande cuite à la Smoke House (des gigantesques flammes vont vous réveiller!) tout cela dans un plat de taille normale.
Le tout accompagné des 4 bières réalisées par l'établissement qui ont toute un caractère exceptionnel. Ça vaut largement son prix.
